The first thing that powerfully catches your attention when passing near Café Italia is the aroma of good coffee. So we decided after finishing eating in Little Italy, the enclave where it is located, that we would visit the place. And we did it. Since that moment we have repeated the experience of drinking, until now, the best coffee in Montreal and its surroundings. If we add the nostalgia of a place that is more than 50 years old, a warm service and that you could also taste some top-notch cannoli and biscotti, in addition to a menu of delicious paninis, all that remains is to say that a visit to Café Italia is a must.be among the obligatory stops when visiting this side of the planet. Go and tell me.

I had a lot of expectations to find finally a spot to fill my italian needs as in talking in italian and have a nice cappuccino and cornetto, as the reviews were positive about em. Was very highly disappointed with the barman that had a very broken italian and couldn't hold a conversation. The cappuccino was so badly made, too much coffee and the milk was all bubbly, I would recommend for the barman to learn on how to prepare the milk for the cappuccino as many other italians might get baited from the name of the place. The cornetto (crossaint) was supposed to be 'ripieno' but clearly the staff needs also a vocabulary, as the crossaint gives only had some bits of chocolate inside.
We also had "cheese toast". The ingredients were: toasted bread and cheese. Just no.

Per tutti gli italiani evitate se cercate un cappuccino dove può farvi ricordare del bel paese. Senza contare ai prezzi esorbitanti. Una vergogna, quasi al livello dell'Italia che non arriva ai mondiali per due volte di fila. Alla ricerca di un altro bar per avere la mia necessità di italiano in Montréal.

Le serveur me dit d'aller au comptoir si je veux commander. Mais il apporte des commandes aux tables d'autres personnes.

The charm of this old-school Italian café is like no other. It’s like you’ve gone back to a simpler time. Enjoy a tasty toast with Nutella with an old-school espresso and just chitchat your morning away.

Great espresso. Not pretentious. Great buzzing atmosphere. Homey. Nice people. What a wonderful cafe.

The coffee was just perfect, the chocolate powder on top was a first for me but definitely improved the taste.

Loved this traditional Italian Cafe in Montreal's Little Italy. I had the pleasure of drinking delicious cappuccino on 3 different days during my recent visit to Montreal. The cappuccino was amazing! One day I ordered cheese on toast, which was very good. Another day I tried a croissant that was huge and so tasty! Caffe Italia will be my first stop on my next trip to Montreal!

4,55 $ (à part le pourboire) c'est bien payé pour un cappuccino (fort bien payé), d'autant que la tasse n'est pas très grande. On ne m'y reprendra plus.

Came here for coffee after lunch. My friend also try some of sweet stuff but she just doesn't like it, coffee is good anyway. Super chilling and easy place. Price is good and staff is friendly.

Every time I come to montreal I head straight for Cafe Italia for a hot chocolate and some carrot cake. My friend and I shared a sandwich and we loved it. So affordable and incredibly friendly! Also, the pop is so good!

Il faut demander le service en français, les employé (e) s s’adressent à toi en anglais sinon, même quand tu t’adresse à eux en français.

An old school Italian cafe dated back to 1950s. I love its atmosphere and the cappuccino is amazing. The dessert is ok.

This is an unassuming Italian Cafe with limited outdoor seating (see photos).
Inside you have a long bar with stools, a few tables and a semi private (bigger) dining area with a large TV.
They speak English and service is very friendly and professional.
The coffee is EXCELLENT! No if no but.
They have limited pastries selection (I had an almond croissant). However, directly across the street there is a bakery with good selection of pastries.

Nice place for tifosi specially in a year Ferrari doing good. Good coffee and nice room at the back for watching sports events and news. It's a vintage place but well maintained. A classic right in the hart of little Italy. Near Jean talon market and notre dame de la défense church.

Je suis revenu ici pour la première fois après la pandémie et j'ai été très déçu. J'apprécie le café ici depuis six ans et je pense que c'est le meilleur café de Montréal. Mais maintenant, le goût du café，C'était comme à la maison ici et je ne pense pas y retourner.

Beau café italien.on se croirait réellement en Italie avec une belle décoration comme dans les années 80. Personnel très agréable et très sympathique. Le café est excellent. Et la nourriture à l’air excellente. A recommander

Today I drank coffee at Caffe Italia. I tasted the real Italian coffee, ate a delicious tart and felt the atmosphere of Rome. The staff is super polite, serving very fast! We're coming!

You wouldn’t think this place has the best coffee just by looking at it. It is like the best kept secret in montreal. The best cappuccino I have ever had. The staff is friendly and treats you like family. I didn’t manage to get a photo, but the cups were so cute and had a piece of their history on it. I wish I lived closer to go everyday for my morning coffee

Having this establishment in Montreal means the world to me. I miss it’s vibe in pre-pandemic times, but it will return to its bustling self soon enough. They’re respecting social distancing while still offering their special cafe italia experience. Respect!

Si vous êtes amateur du café vous allez être satisfait, la note 4 étoile sur 5 est justifié par le fait qu’un des serveurs n’ai pas à la hauteur du bon goût du café.

Best sandwiches ever.
I’m not a coffee «  connaisseur » so I won’t comment in the matter, but I have been going there for at least 16 years.always had a possible experience.

Mon café préféré à Montréal. Un grand comptoir, une machine et une machine à expresso qui ne s’arrête que rarement. En fond, me mélange d’italien, de français et d’anglais. Glander au Caffe Italia avec un livre ou faire une pause le temps d’un expresso, c’est vraiment sympa.

Les cafés sont bons et au cas vous auriez les crocs, les sandwichs all dressed à l’italienne sont parfaits.

I will never back to this coffee shop for two reasons;
1 I ordered cappuchino decaf with vegetal milk the barista did not tell me there is an extra to pay so I paid 5 $ instead of 3.25$.
2 if you ordererd sandwich, they will prepare it without gloves or waching hands they manipulated meat, cheeese with their hands and they touch money and bills not clean at all.
Never back until they put the right price on the menu and use gloves when they prepare sandwich.

Il mérite pas une seule étoile, j'ai demandé un croissant au amande le garcoy m'a donné un croissant ordinaire comme ceux qu'on achète de chez métro et maxi en boîte et ya pas d'amande dedans c même pas fait au café, et après quand je voulais payer g pas laisser de pourboire et beh il était tellement méchant il m'a même pas répondu quand j'ai dis bonne journée. C'était ma première et ma dernière fois.

I love this place. It's nothing fancy or high end, and this is what really gives this place character. The regulars are always there and it makes it feel like home.

Meilleur cappuccino de la ville et un des moins cher. Leurs petits sandwichs sont vraiment top aussi. Je recommande.

My dad brought me there since I was born. They have been nice for 40+ years. Now I get the pleasure to bring my own daughter for a toast, a juice or a kinder surprise.

Went there last week with my mother. She was very impressed with the quality of the espresso and said that this was the best she ever tasted in Canada. Two years of search for the perfect espresso finally found in this place. All my respects to them. Now every time she comes to visit, this cafe is a must. Thank you!

Italian waiters and Italian customers. It’s pretty crowded in the afternoon, it moves fast and they take cash only.
Tables outside on the sidewalk, which is pretty nice when it’s sunny, even in on a cold fall day
One of the only coffee shops around with no commercial music, which is nice.

An institution. The coffee beans. Expresso. Simple bar type sitting! Also tables around. Relax atmosphere. Like in your place! It is the taste. Everything else is extra.

The coffee was good and service exceptional. The gentleman behind the counter had one of the workers give me my order as I sat down. I was having difficulty walking and getting up because of my back and he didn't want me to go through the trouble of getting up again. I have been to many similar establishments where they coetely ignore you after your order.

Great place to sit at the bar and have a sandwich and coffee. The sandwiches here are unbelievable. Salami is my favourite. Coffee is traditional Italian, dark roasted and bitter.

Coffee was very good, however the service was bad and porc sandwich was horrible! Meat just taken out of the fridge and put into a warm bread. Sad: - (

Went there to have a conversation with a few buddies. Ended up staying there for a few hours because the cappuccinos and cannolis were so freakin good. The servers were also incredibly courteous. Highly recommend!
