Caribbean Curry House

It's was gross. The stew chicken tasted like BBQ sauce and sugar, and they're was barely any chicken in it. The rices and peas were tasteless and I only had 3 peas on my plate. They give you one piece of plantain and the smallest portion of salade. At noon, they didn't have any jerk chicken or ackee and salt fish. So what do you have exactly?
I think it's run by different owners now. I'm never going back and i do not recommend. I used to love that place.

Adero and the team are amazing they got delicious oxtail ordered for a few families and they were all very happy

I grew up in the area, and I am still a local here. Been eating from curry house for quite some time. The quality and taste in previous years were so so to underwhelming.

Lately its been really really good! Their quality in taste has definitely improved. Even their patty is real proper too.

Keep it up!

Beau, bon, pas cher! Repas original et exotique. J'ai aussi beaucoup aimé l'ambiance du restaurant, c'est sobre mais coloré. J'ai pris un rôti à la chèvre.c'était relevé aromatique et délicieux! Avec un petit pâté jamaïcain au boeuf pas mal bon aussi! J'ai bien aimé mon expérience. J'y retournerai!

Big portions and tasty food. Quick service and clean dining area. Not too spicy but can ask for more or extra spicy.

The food is awesome. They have one of the best goat rotis in the city. It's a landmark. I love coming here. It's been a clutch restaurant to satisfy that carribean flavor. The patties are also very good. Nice flavor to them. Thr doubles are also good and fresh.

The restaurant is cold. Doesn't feel like the place is heated at all. I had to eat with my winter jacket on recently.

Did both beef and chicken roti take out last night for my elderly Trinidad parents who no longer drive.they used to be regulars but was my first time.the meal was delicious and highly recommended if you're looking for something flavourful.

We visited this gem on our recent visit to Montreal. Before I get to the food, I'd like to point out the cheerful and friendly demeanor of the staff. From the young woman who took our order and checked to see if we enjoyed the beef patties, they were tremendous, to the gentleman who prepared our meal, you couldn't find nicer people. Now the food. The oxtails were succulent and flavorful, the chicken roti was first rate, and again those beef patties. If you're a native of the city or a visitor looking to explore the city, this wonderful restaurant is a must visit.

Went to the one in West Island sept 1 for takeout chicken roties. I was horrified, it was so oversalted all I could taste was the salt. Was never like that before, maybe they should try their food before selling it.

Great food. I would like a better patio table on the patio next time I visit: 0) apart from the table they make the best food. 5 solid stars

The worst ever, the new fake management can't cook, worst roti ever. To the point I'm angry. In 40 years I've never seen such a decline. By the way not one customer in restaurant, full parking in front, BAD SIGN should have left immediately. Good luck your going bankrupt soon.

They didn’t want to sell 5 min after closing. Just wanted to buy some patty’s. The staff was rude. The guy that was sweeping the floor acted like he’s the boss. I never seen him around. Plus the Roti price went up to $10 and doesn’t taste the same. I been going there for more than 20 years. Previous management was better. I went to Boom J’s instead event if it’s was far. Anyway I will get my pattys from Patty King. They have it at Walmart and Asian market.

Honestly, I really wanted to like this place! I heard so much that I was looking forward to it. I went to buy some curry goat cause I already had rice and beans and all the fixings made at home. So I wanted to simply get curry goat portions to add to my rice! I dunno if it's the same curry goat they put in a regular plate as well as in the roti with potatoes but I have to say this was unfortunately the worst curry goat I have ever had in Montreal. The meat was super dry, very salty (I understand that's a personal taste) however the gravy was also non existent it was very oily not gravy. I wanted to try the oxtail but they didn't have that day. I couldn't believe a reputable spot pushes out this quality of curry goat which is one if their high priced items.
It's a shame because I really wanted to like this place as it is close to where I live.

I had Curry Chicken with rice and peas it was good.
The reason I GAVE them one star is.they are VERY Stingy when it comes to portion sizes you Can't have a restaurant and don't want to give your customers a reasonable portion.

They did that with every Customer that I saw came in and ordered food.

Went to curry house today on Victoria and I have to say firstly the prices went up sky high while the food has deteriorated big time I was totally disappointed the phlourie had no taste at all the doubles was terrible the roti had an acid taste to it what a waste of money I am done going to curry house if I can give it half a star I would disappointed

Great place. Best Roti's I've had in Montreal, no bones mixed in the goat roti like some places do!

Has to be the best Carribean food in the city! Had the beef roti and was one of the best things I've eaten in a really long time. Will definitely be returning soon to try to goat roti or the oxtail plate!

We went there 20 minutes before the closing time, and got the beef patties and goat roti to take out. The beef patty is amazing, buttery, flaky and the filling is spicy and full of flavor. This was much much better than the beef patty we were getting from Chinatown. Highly recommend getting a patty!

The goat roti had good quantity of meat and was delicious as well. We thought we might not get the best experience because it was so late, but this was definitely worth the trip.

The ambience of the sit down restaurant is very tropical and fun with bright colors. Their menu is available on a TV.

Think owners changed. Really good before (some years ago) : food and service.
Lower quality now, but not to the point of being bad. I would still recommend, but for takeout?

Being Caribbean myself I had very high expectations of this little spot. I know Toronto has a large West Indian community but was not expecting this gem in Montreal. Like mentioned, a small spot but churning out huge flavor. I had Jerk Chicken and it was simply awesome. Nice array of flavors reminiscent of the same meals I enjoy at home. Had a few patties as well- OMG perfect! Flaky crust, hot filling, and jammed up with all the traditional flavors. The doubles was on point too! Washed it all down with a classic red Solo. If you're in the area, or even close by- make the trek out here you won't be disappointed.

Food has gone downhill fast! Woah, it was such a disappointment. No flavor to the boneless chicken roti! Bought 3, not knowing they were so disgusting! Wasted $38 bucks! They wont fool me twice though!

We wanted to go farther afield from our Old Montréal hotel, so we took the Metro around to this place. It’s a charming little family-run restaurant with a simple menu. I had the goat roti, and I’ve never had such tender, savory, peppery, delicious goat meat. I highly recommend this place if you’re looking for some excellent Caribbean comfort food. I’d love to go back.

Portions are never the same. Just got a stew chicken, and had to ask the lady to put more rice. The food is great, but the portions are never the same, and more rice should be included on every plate.

From toronto and have had my share of oxtail, but this is the best ox tail i’ve ever had!

generous portion of ox tail compared to majority of places that give you mostly rice. & the gravy was perfect.only complaint i have is that the plantain was not made fresh, but aside from that it was a great meal.will definitely be back soon!

Amazing atmosphere, loved the place. Best swinger bar I've been to. Very nice laid out rooms and tastefully designed.

Soup was very good as was rice. Roti though was way too much dough. Felt like I ate four pieces of white sliced bread.outside too doughy. Staff very friendly even though we could not speak French.that was much appreciated. Sorry don't have pic of the
offending roti. If rating was based on the roti than much lower than four stars.

Haven't been to Curry House since the beginning of the pandemic and unfortunately I was soo disappointed. I order a plate of Oxtail and a Goat roti. The Oxtail was good. The roti was just ok. The rice and bean portion was a complete joke. 4 spoon of rice and done
The bean were rock solid. The rice literally tastes like one minute rice.

First time going back to this restaurant in years after the change of owners. The food is DEFINITELY NOT the same. It has an Indian taste to it. I ordered the stew chicken plate and was very disappointed with the presentation. Extremely poor presentation, and it definitely does Not has a Caribbean taste to the food. The girl at the cash, although pleasant, she could barely pronounce the names of the dishes. The food taste was okay, but they need to change the name because it is definitely not Caribbean tasting, especially as previous Trinidadian taste.

Awesome service! The staff makes you feel welcomed! Kid friendly, my daughter who is very picky and refuses to try anything new felt confortable enough to try a chicken patty. Been there many times always had a good experience but today topped it off! Definitely going back for sure in the near future! Food is always great!

First time coming here and ordered 2 beef patties, oxtail platter and the chicken and goat roti.

Everything was good. The cashier/ the one that packed up our food was nice. Reasonably priced. Few tiny critics though. I only got 1 skinny plantain in my oxtail platter while your Instagram photos show 2 plantains. Oxtail was more bones and fat and the roti had big portions of potatoes and only got goat meat in it. The beef patties were good but lacked seasoning and heat.

Overrall, good food. Would definitely give it another shot!

New owner, new staff, SAME good product and BETTER costumer service!

Forgot to take pictures. I ordered chicken roti and stew chicken. Chicken roti is amazing. Chicken inside is so tender. The bread wraping outside is not oily. I read it's made from peas, my first time trying this kind, personally not a big fan of carbs, but I love it. Stew chicken tastes great as well. Even now thinking of the two dishes makes me mouth watering. Next time I'm gonna try mixed roti and oxtail. Highly recommded and great value

We visited last night for the first time on Fete Nationale/ St Jean Baptiste because Mr Patty was closed. Mr Patty is excellent and so is the Caribbean Curry House. Suffice to say, we will be returning soon and often!
My teen son gobbled his oxtail curry and I wolfed down jerk chicken; the food is delicious and the staff are approachable and Covid19 responsible. Servings are generous and the atmosphere is calm. I talked to my son about this being a good place to bring dates in the future.

Not what it used to be but did go downhill towards the end of last management, the new management is wonderful. The food is delicious, please support local! Their roti (def not pronounced Rodi if you aren't sure how to pronounce it) are mouthwatering and that Peppa sauce ouuuhhhh fuego

The food here is great.no frills atmosphere, but when you order a goat roti, it's hot and spicy and deeply flavorful.we also got the oxtail stew platter, and we had enough food for three people, easily! The oxtail is almost sweet, tender and tasty.we enjoyed both dishes greatly!

I have been on a pilgrimage to find good Jamaican patties lately. The best Patties I have ever tasted were JA’s in Brampton, Ontario. So based on that “gold” standard I have looked for an alternative in Montreal. I cannot speak for the rest of the menu at that dinner but I can honestly say the patties there are the best I have tasted in Montreal (comparing them with Spicees, Patty King, Patty Palace). Crust is proper (flaky), filling is full of flavour, moist and decent in its quantity. I haven’t tried Lloydie’s yet but honestly after tasting these today I kind of doubt that I will give them a go. They are honestly THAT good. But as they say “never say never” so we will see (maybe just for the heck of it). All in all don’t take my word for it and give them a try. I doubt you will regret. By the way they are opened on sundays too! Lol!

Best I've had in MTL. I couldn't decide between a roti or jerk chicken so they made a combo for me for only $13! Very friendly service.

I have been going to this place for over 30 years. It recently changed ownership and I am proud to say that the food is better than ever! The chicken roti was sooo good. The roti wrap was soft and larger than usual. Inside the combo of chicken and chickpea/potato was more than usual and so tasty. Overall the roti was larger and better than it was before and it was really good before. I'm going back real soon!
PS. My son had the goat roti and he was equally impressed and he's a twenty year old foodie.
