CASA MINHOTA - Resto Portugais - Tapas / Seafood / Steak - Wine Bar / Cocktails

Originally from NY. We decided to visit the Portuguese place during to it's variety of sea food in this location. We ordered plenty of things including sardines. Mussels, escargot, and so on. The only thing that was good is the sardines. We finally got a big plate with a mix of fish. Honestly it was horrible the salmon was literally spoiled and the sword fish same thing. I was with a family so I couldn't really complain or do anything about that. We end up just paying and leaving. I would not recommend the place due to it s lack of customer service and mediocre food quality.

A Little Taste of Portugal:
If you want to taste the real authentic Portuguese dishes, Casa Minhota is your place. Excellent quality and prices for your food. It does not matter what you order All there recipes are authentic and very good. Place is also very clean. The negative side: We are now hooked and are there every second week. The big bonus free parking in the back.

Every second Wednesday three of us go to eat and the service is great, the food is great and we are treated as we are part of a family.

We went there July 7 2023, very busy, we sat down, they gave us water after 5 minutes, NO Menus, they came with Bread, Olives, Still No Menus, finally after 30 minutes we had to ask for Menus, the service we received was not really good, waiter either is not really a waiter or had to many clients and he was running everywhere! Waiters should have a designed section so can take care of his clients! The food came, it was OK, but the only plate that was extremely dry was the Bacalhao a Braz, not really good, I had asked for a piece of cake with a candle for a birthday never came? Our waiter never came by to ask how the food was? Is everything OK? Never! The restaurant is typical Portugeese, but needs a little renovation, needs updating, carpet floors are really old and squiky furniture outdated.
The parking forget about it only fits like 6 cars, we had to park 3 blocks away.

Hands down the best sea food I ever had in Montreal! Crazy value for money too!

Simply delicious, the sardines appetizer was marvelous also loved the picanha. Service was great. I would only say it took a bit long to get our food but other than that everything was perfect

Waited 30 minutes for a table even with a reservation, stood in the hallway without anyone checking on us or updating. Watched waitstaff hang around empty tables. Left without eating.

Nous y sommes allés pour célebrer avec un groupe de travail et l'expérience nous à véritablement déçu. Une bonne partie de la nourriture était bonne, mais le plat principal était fade et trop cuit, en plus d'être accompagné d'une salade nageant dans un jus de citron.
Le service était présent pour ce qui était de remplir les verres d'eau, mais cela s'arrête pas mal là. Il a également fallu attendre au moins 45min entre chaque partie du repas (Entrée, soupes/salades puis repas principal.)
Enfin la partie où nous étions situé était très sombre et la musique de fond était répétitive et envahissante.

Bref, nourriture acceptable mais ne vaut pas la peine du détour, à mon avis.

Nous sommes allés à ce restaurant pour un party de groupe pour noel.
Le souper c'est étalé sur 4 heureus avec au moins 45 mins entre les services.
Pour le service aux tables, les serveurs étaient surtout présent pour remplir nos verres d'eau. L'ambiance etais sombre avec de la musique désagréable et repetitive.
Les toilettes n'étaient pas chauffées (en plein mois de décembre.) elle etais aussi en désordre. La nouritture manquait de goût. Bref ce n'étais une experience agréable. De plus je n'ai pas aimé que le serveur lâche un commentaire sur mon pourboire, le service étais médiocre et j'ai donné un pourboire en conséquence.
Trouvez vous un endroit plus charmant et plus délicieux.

So much seafood, so much deliciousness. I love coming here for special occasions.ps: You must taste de Natas Du Ciel dessert. It's amazing!

Down to earth and authentic.
Edit: I used to go there for lunch. For dinner, we had a reservation but waited 45 minutes after our reservation time, standing up in the entrance, along with around 20 other people who also had reservations. Staff kept telling us that they would have our table ready in two minutes. Very rude from the staff, I'd rather be simply told that they can't make our reservation anymore. We ended up going elsewhere.

Première fois et surtout pas la dernière. Excellent service du début à la fin. Repas délicieux et copieux (même pour mon conjoint qui a bonne fourchette). Tables espacées (aucunement sentis soupé avec les voisins). Je vous recommande fortement ce restaurant.

Great authentic Portuguese food. The meals are generous and it's not expensive size and quality wise. Would come back again.

The food was delicious we share seafood rice and” bacalao “with fries, so we taste two traditional plates (they end up going really well together). The service is excellent, and the place looks like a traditional Portuguese restaurant. The price was more than fair for the quality and portion sizes. 100/100 I will definitely recommend it.

The idea of a good Portuguese cod for lunch is always something that has good appeal to me. The Casa Minhota seemed to be an excellent choice in Montreal. We started with cod “bolinhos”, what made me feel far from the cod restaurants I visit in Lisbon few years ago. The reason is the cod/potato ratio was not very favorable to the customer (me!). I had also a caldo verde as appetizer, nothing special. We went to the main meal, cod Lagareiro and cod a la minhota. Lagareiro was not bad, my wife liked and I would say it is the only reason for my 3-star rate. The rest was just regular, including the service, sometimes the waiter just ignored us for longer than desirable time…

Mmmm (quoi dire) on a fait une réservation fait 3 semaine pour ns dire quand on es arrive vs pouvez pas manger car on a une fête ben voila jmenuie de lencien proprio la cuisinière criait après le gerant car à pas penser que jaistais portugaise

Wow wow I loved the bacalao, it remind me my country and a fresh home made food. Nice and friendly ambience you feel at home. Great staff and service. You have to try!

These 2 stars are because they accepted my small pet inside and nicely provided a bowl of water.

However, they were kind of a scam! We’re from Toronto, so we understand the tips system. No problem to add. They considered us as tourists and grabbed the the machine as well as our credit card and didn't let us choose the percentage of tips! He said ‘no worries, no tips to think of I did everything for you. ’ He added 20%!

The problem is that we ordered 3 pichanas (beef) that we're not tenders at all. We eat this type of meat all the time so we know that the meat can be medium rare (red). He even gave us an explanation ‘no picanhas must be only because when not cook it’s actually making the meat’. Anyway, we didn't argue and wanted to give a try.

Please never let them choose the tips for you. And watch carefully everything.

Other dishes or sides were delicious. The customer service overall is good. Washroom quite clean and restaurant clean too.

I am just shocked of them thinking we were all tourists like we didn't know anything (even if we are tourists, they must never do that). And the worst they decided to tip themselves very well!

I went home and asked my family about this behaviour as I thought it was maybe normal on Quebec and they definitely said ‘no way! ’

Un restaurant Portugais qui vaut le détour il faut dire que leur nourriture et service sont au même niveau exemplaires! J'aimerai vous recommander quelque chose en particulier mais après avoir goûté a pas mal tout leur menu je dois dire que tout est exquis! Parcontre ce que je recommande fortement comme dessert est la poire au Porto c'est mon incontournable.

En famille ou en gang vous allez aimer ce restaurant.

Delicious Every bite! We were in Montreal for a weekend and have been here before. Amazing authentic Portuguese cusine. Large seafood platter for 3 fed us four. So fresh and cooked to perfection. Reservation required, book ahead of time as they fill up quickly.

Great to find a legit Portuguese restaurant. Tasty, I'd eat here again.

Other restaurants advertise as "Portuguese" but usually they're Brazilian in disguise. Not a bad thing bc Brazilian is tasty too.

But continental European Portuguese food is tasty.

Casa Minhota is with the trip.

Rainy day, we drove from Thousand Islands, Ontario. We were hungry.and stopped by accident on Casa Minhota, for lunch.
The best that could have happened to us! Delicious authentoc Portughese cuisine, the waiters were amazing and the house wine, exelent! Thumbs up!

Always perfect authentic Portuguese food! The service is friendly, and always makes sure your enjoying your experience! They treat you like family, and make your business feel valued!

And the food! OMG PERFECT ALLLLLLL THE TIME! Seafood is always fresh, meat is always perfect! I have been going there my whole life and I have never had a bad experience!

If you want real Portuguese food this is the place to go!

Too healthy and not delicious at all
Fishes smell bad.
It took to much time for services.

Although the fish was well-cooked, the smell was so bad! We could not eat at all. The Cesar salad had nothing special, so normal and the sauce didn't have a good taste.
Waiters were so slow, not attentive and not welcoming. It took 50 minutes for 2 dishes to be prepared and the worst part was that they served a table of 6 people before us, while we were there 15minutes sooner than them! Just because they were the waiter's friends!
They never refilled our water even once! Aweful service.
Do not recommend this place.

Great service today while getting a meal to celebrate our 11 year anniversary. The guy was so friendly and just was an overall great guy and made for a great experience. Food was great, and well worth the value. Can't wait until the restaurants open so we can dine in:)

Nous sommes allés a ce restaurant un samedi soir, le service était bien et les repas délicieux! Une note spécial pour l'excellent porto blanc!

Ce fut le meilleir restaurant auquel jai mangé, le service est excellent, les escargos etaient tendres et goûteux, le filet mignon etait a la cuisson demandée, les crevettes d'une bonne grosseur, la sauce etait parfaite:) je recommande vivement a tous!
