My family and I went here for a lovely day on the water. We requested to rent a canoe or kayak. The two employees indicated it was a very long wait. When we asked how long, they gave us a time of an hour later. Put our names in under that time to return for our booking. This meant killing time while we waited. We went to grab a snack and spent $60 between us as we waited for our time slot. When we returned, they said they booked us for an hour even later than that (2hours later) which We all confirmed was not the time and an error on their side. We originally indicated that 2 hours or more was not possible and they said 1 hour; booking us for 17h30.
The individual sat there saying he didn’t say an hour and that all three adults I was with must have misunderstood 17h30 instead of 18h30. We are all bilingual, we confirmed 17h30 multiple times before leaving their rental office.
They had zero empathy, claimed ‘we are doing you a favour by booking your names in but it’s never a reservation’. Yet referred to the 18h30 time as ‘your reservation is for 18h30’. They contradicted everything they said over and over. Never an apology for their error. Not a single offer to provide a resolution for wasting our time (guest are from out of town). Just arrogant, rude and lack of any customer service skills. We spent money waiting and didn’t get to enjoy the day we though we had booked through what we thought were competent people.
The entire shop was totally disorganized. When we had returned before all this even happened, they had us wait outside for 20 min until the canoe was due back at 5: 38pm. Just to go in and be Told yeah no. We still have it for 18h30…. So why have us wait even more than the hour you already wasted? !? Just useless. I do not recommend AT ALL. There are far better spots to rent from that will actually get you on the water as the advertise.

Always a busy place. Great service and pretty to go on a quick kayak or paddle board ride. Free for people with Gatineau + city card.
