Enjoyed a Passover Seder here hosted by the kind and gentlemanly Rabbi Nissan Gansbourg.

He and his wife and children took up residence here recently and the dwelling is lovely. The stone building is majestic and discreet with an Old-Montreal heritage atmosphere; the main hall is calming, roomy, with high, high ceilings, a serious-looking exposed old brick wall and warm wood paneling. Great sound insulation encourages a sense of community, good communication, and safety.

The Rabbi made me feel at home even though I am quite secular and it was my first time at a Chabad house. He made me feel “seen” and maintained a serene, spiritual conversation with me despite the demands of his hosting duties. The vibe and the people leaned familial, approachable, metropolitan, and the children were adorable and brimming with personality.

It was a pleasure, I intend to go again and I encourage any kind of Jew to give it a try, no matter where you are in your journey.
