Very expensive for the quality of the food being served. We were happy to have our dishes served hot but beyond that next time I feel like having Indian food I will make my own with canned sauces just like they do. I am still unsure about the origin of the lamb. A few pieces of meat where spattered among potato cubes in some watery spicy sauce. The waiter was friendly despite the fact that he could not speak a single word of french. In a city like Montreal it is always appalling not being able to be served in your own language. Finally, the menu offers a few draft beers. My Kingfisher ended up being served in a bottle and charged $1.50 more on the bill than the $7.75 original menu price. Sad to say but there are no more good Indian restaurant. Long gone are my memories of Indian feasts in India, they’ll never return.

The appetizers were good however the main course we ordered (Lamb Bhuna) tasted stale and the meat was not soft. Felt like we were eating leftovers!

Habib took care of me and my friends. Suggested we take the lamb korma and the butter chicken, amazing. Offered us shots. Will be going back again forsure.

Food was mediocre at best. Bowl
of cold dry rice with naan to accompany a bland sauce with three small pieces of cheese in it. Service was slow and spotty. Served two out of three people, third person waited ten minutes while waitress did some other tasks. The third person’s food was just sitting in the hallway waiting on a tray….

Must visit restaurant Downtown! The flavors exceeded my expectations, and the service was great. Enjoyed the food a lot <3

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Devi Restaurant, and I can confidently say it was an absolute culinary masterpiece. The flavors were exceptional, the ambiance was elegant, and the service was impeccable. I highly recommend Devi Montreal as a must-visit dining destination. It deserves a perfect.

Unfortunately this restaurant is no longer what it used to be, I had to delete my previous 5 star review from 2017 to this.
No comments on the current sorry food situation since I have enjoyed the best from them.
The worst was during my recent dine in experience with my friends, they blatantly lied/cheated and served us Crown Royal whiskey whereas we ordered 4 large Macallan’s not once but for the second round also that too after being corrected and reassured by the staff.
Honestly don’t tell me that you served the right alcohol since Single Malt is all that I drink when it comes to hard liquor.
The cherry on the cake was yet to arrive the bill with an included hefty tip amount.
Trust me given the amount of Indians now in Montréal there are much better options than this restaurant.

I went to the restaurant with few friends yesterday. We ordered appetizers that we never received. When we asked the waitress about the appetizer she started to argue with us. Her attitude was not acceptable. She was rude, instead of asking her colleague who took the appetizers order she started arguing with us. She was saying that we didn’t order any appetizers. And then they got an excuse, they told us the guy who took the order was new. So he didn’t know how does it work. They thought we were from “ La La Land”. If this kinda service we get, one day that restaurant wont have any customers. The waitress didn’t know the name of the dishes. We ordered lamb bhuna, Vindaaloo, butter chicken, lamb Biriyani, naan, and the waitress had no idea what she was serving. The one who ordered lamb bhuna got vindaaloo and the one who ordered Vindaaloo got lamb bhuna. She was confused! Maybe she was waiting for us to correct her. We had to tell them the correct names of the dishes. Now we can imagine what non South Asian customers would have to go through in this restaurant. They will order something and would get something else. So there were 3 Vindaaloo orders and all of them tasted different. And 2 lamb bhuna tasted different as well. This restaurant doesn’t even deserve a single star. But gave a star! The service / food was awful. If the food was good i don’t think anyone would mind about the price. But the food was as bad as the service and the price was quite high if we compared with the food quality.

Food excellent $$$ waiter very good but restaurant did not distance us enough from each table during pandemic no plexiglass separators. Sat in the front window area which was nice but the big window was very dirty

I prefer eating ready to eat packets (for indian cuisine) rather than visiting this place, though if you want to waste some CADs or wait hours for the food to be served you are good to go.:)

Last night we went to have supper at the resto Devi and we were group of 7 people. The reservation was already made. But the experience of customer service was horrible there. First they mixed up our order of appetizer and main course so after waiting for a while when we asked about appetizer they had no clue and the main dish was almost here. Then they mixed up our order of main dishes, they literally have no clue who ordered what. So every time we tried to clarify the confusion.there are 2 servers on the front started argument with us. It was very hard to communicate with them. At the end, they gave us dessert as complimentary as there were lots of confusion of providing service but then they mentioned one of my friend, instead of discount they gave us complimentary dessert. So in summery it was awful customer service, they showed no manners to the client, very disrespectful, no apology from them for this kind of behaviour. So if you guys are planning to go with a big group, think twice. Hopefully they improve their customer service.

I tried calling for food and they hung up on me! And they called me names before that DO NOT CALL THEM and with this service I dont think it would be great in the resto either.

Good balance of flavours but very little quantity compared to the price. Service was fine as well but there is a little wait for the main course, when we did get it we got all of our orders at the same time.

Skip the samosas for sure, paneer tikka and chicken chettinand had few pieces. Reccomend the onion bhajia. Jackfruit biriyani was ok but again few jackfruit pieces. The food is semi authentic overall, appreciated the less oil as well.

Waiting time too long. Serving people food waaay before us who got there first. Rice was cold and sold separately. Basically 4 scraps of chicken in that $16 bowl.

This is by far the worst restaurant with service. There was four to five Uber eat drivers that came to get food and their orders were not ready. They falsified the bill by adding random drinks. Potato's were raw the restaurant will keep taking people and others will not have there food for 50 min.

Good food but really bad service. Guests should not have to explain the issue to 4 different servers. It should not take them 15-20 minutes to fix the issue.

The service was bad, the food took two hours to come and people who came after us got their food before us and left before us. The food came cold and water came warm and they had the audacity to ask us if something was wrong.

J'y suis allée cet été dans le cadre du festival MTLàTABLE, et la nourriture était exquise. Toutefois, le service était plutôt ordinaire. Le serveur semblait très inexpérimenté; il ne savait pas quoi répondre à nos questions concernant le menu, il n'attendait pas que l'on ait fini un service pour apporter le prochain, il a mis notre vin rouge dans un sceau à glace, etc. J'y retournerai probablement car les plats étaient incroyables, en espérant que le service se soit amélioré!

They take too long and the staff is unprofessional and the food is very bad. Throwing your money and going here is same. Don’t waste your time and money here.

Don't waste your money going to Chez Dévi. Food quality was so poor and service was terrible. We had to wait more than an hour to get food.
Servers don't work to serve, THEY WORK ONLY AND ONLY FOR TIPS

The food was blend and the service was terrible. We had to wait forever for tissue papers and spoons. Someone nearby sneezed without taking any proper procedure. The experience was terrible.

Food is great. Price is little bit expensive but worth the service ordered. Very busy in the night.table booking will be better to avoid crowds.

I went with my family today and it was my worst experience ever in this restaurant in the end they were forcing me to give a 5 star rating but the food quality as well as service not even worth 1 star.

I SELDOM LEAVE BAD REVIEWS. But it was the MOST HORRIBLE experience I’ve had in a long time.

Short version- Mr. Owner (Praveen), please learn some manners and learn the basics of how to treat people or better watch Cocomelon. You are by far the rudest person I’ve met in my entire life, YOU WILL NEVER GET ANY BUSINESS FROM ME AND MINES.

Long story- We placed an order for takeout on Sep 5. We ordered the jumbo mix grill, dal tadka, butter chicken and garlic naan. When I placed the order, the person taking the order Mr. Owner (Praveen) mentioned the wait time to be 45 mins, which I understand as it was a busy night. We waited for 45 mins and then I went in to get my order, upon entering I was informed by one of the waiting staff it’ll be another 5 mins and this saga of “another 5 mins” continued for next 30 mins. Upon which, I spoke to the Mr. Owner (who by the way was not wearing a mask properly), told me very rudely, “so what you’ve been waiting for so long, these things take time to prepare”, and your order will be out shortly! Guess what- it didn’t So after waiting for 45 mins + another 40 mins my order came, Yaaaaayyy! But wait, it was as cold as the hospitality this restaurant has. So, Thankyou for spoiling our long weekend dinner plans in Montreal.

Whoever is reading this review from the restaurant, I’m not interested in any offers to dine in again. The only possible way of me taking down this review is through Mr. Owner’s heartfelt apology!

Mr. Owner - Learn some manners, get down your high horse, train your staff, in-fact hire more staff and don’t serve cold food.

And, next time if you visit Toronto, let me know 45 mins before and the same menu items will be ready for you, home cooked by me and will be served fresh and hot.

Kitchen staff are taking too much time for the deliveries and dine in so I recommend to don’t go their. Food is too bad and what we order food is totally different like more dry, cold and tasteless

We did our Civil wedding reception at Devi restaurant first floor private hall last week. Overall it was excellent and I am very happy. It’s a perfect place for small group gathering and party (social distancing was respected for tables and staff was wearing mask all time). Food was excellent, service was good. Restaurant did decoration for my party and it was very beautiful. All my guest liked the ambience and food. I would definitely recommend this place for small corporate and family party. Thanks Devi restaurant for making my wedding dinner a very SPL event.

I've tried different food items here. My absolute favorite is chole bhature and Aloo kulcha.
Recently tried vegetarian biryani (pulao) served with raita, opted for mild spice and it turned out to be decent.

One item in my order was misplaced and the taste of the food was really bad. Never had that much of bad experience with any restaurant.

Worst experience ever. We went there for breakfast and we waited atleast 45 minutes till that time no beverages was¹ served so far. After 45 minutes they served us Masala chai just before main food which they serves cold and it tasted really awful. In their breakfast we ordered yogurt with Naan and paneer curry and the yogurt was just water. They really ruined our morning and we had to just leave and paid fully for everything and eat to the next restaurant. So big NO to this place if you want to have nice breakfast.

Worst customer service. The waiters are very unprofessional. The waiter brought us "sweet lassi" and said "please dont complain about the lassi we made it in a hurry". Afterwards, he came again to say "we are closing soon, I can give you 10minutes" it wasn't even 10: 30pm when hesaid that and we got there at 9: 50pmenough time to finish the meal for 6people.so not even allowing us enough time to finish our meal. He even charged us for stuff we didnt even order. He tipped himself 15% which we paid too without noticing thae amount and said it was included in the meal price. He kicked us out before we could finish our meal.

Everything started well, but as time went by, they just stopped serving us. They gave us water one time, they didn't take our plates at the end, we had to ask for the check and they made a mistake with the check, but "couldn't" refund us the difference. The food was okay, but not extraordinary. It's just sad the service deteriorated like that.

This restaurant was not able to manage orders not just for me but for everyone in the restaurant. We waited for 1 hour before our food arrived. There was a couple which left the place after waiting for 1 hour and horribly bursted out her anger on the staff. Moreover, the Food was below average.
I generally don’t give -ve post but this one I had to for sure.
Suggestions: please be upfront and let people know how long is it going to take for the order to arrive.there is no point expecting people wait for hours for food.

Rude waiter did not wear a mask! We were on the patio but I did not appreciate it.

We were 4 dining and ordered 2 appetizers and we asked about the format they came in (samosas). He said it came with 2 samosas but that if we are sharing he will put just one, which I found extremely rude. Apparently it was a joke. Then he charged us 5 main courses instead of 4. Rude service throughout.

Extremely unprofessional slow service. Honestly for such a prime location, they are understaffed, confused and don’t care about their customers. We don’t know who’s fault it was but we waited 2 hours for an incomplete order. Extremely dissatisfied with the experience. Our children barely ate…

Today breakfast at devi was amazing. I'd like bread pakoras and veg curries, they really remind me the Indian taste. Thanks to the devi for amazing service.

Best Indian cuisines. You’ll definitely love their butter naan. The paneer tikka masala Is delicious and you can ask them to make it up to your spice preference. We like Indian cuisine spicy and they make it as per the request. Go for it.

We only had appetizers here which were great. Our server forgot our drinks. He apologized at the time of payment so that's okay. A gentle message to the owner to please not talk loudly on phone around guests. It hurts the overall experience. Also, a little TLC of the place would go a long way.

Food is good - service is the worst ever.

We were visiting Montreal from Ontario and were looking for an Indian restaurant. We trusted the stars and the reviews and visited the restaurant. The waiter took a lot of time to reach the table and take the order. After he took the order, it almost took one hour to just bring 5 items. Also, no water was served, no cutlery, and paper napkins. Each item took on an average of 15-20 mins. The staff is super unresponsive I would suggest that, if you got a lot of patience of spending about a couple of hours at the restaurant, then please visit it. If you were planning on grabbing something fast, please do not visit the restaurant.

Worst service. I went back after covid hoping to treat my self but main course came before starter and we waited 15 mins for second bread while curries very getting cold. Never going back.

Butter chicken and samosa chaat was mouth watering! Naan was very soft and kulfi was beyond expectation!

Absolutely amazing experience. Ordered the MTL special (27$) which was around 60 $ dollar value. The staff was extremely courteous and accommodating. The server was polite and professional. Food was outstanding. Great ambience, the owner personally thanked us for our visit. Will DEFINITELY come back again. Highly recommended.

Staff were prompt and checked with us multiple times to ensure all was to our satisfaction. Nice menu - many vegetarian choices. Great downtown location.:)

Came here for lunch - while the food was superb the service was really slow. Maybe it’s the post lockdown staff issues.

Worst service ever in my life, we had to fight for our food to be served. It took 2 hours just to serve tomato soup. Food taste was good though.

I came here with my girlfriend. It is simply amazing! The food tasted very much authentic, tasted great actually for my buds.

Chez Devi on Crescent Street in downtown Mtl! The place is superb clean and beautiful ambience to attract you throughout!

Tomato soup and Paneer appetizer was good. First forgot the ordered items and didnt acceptd it and then said daal was not there, naan/roti was not there, jeera rice was not there, daal makahni is not there then why did he not told us before accomodating us. We were made aware of this after we ordered and waitied for 45mins. We were left hungry and unsatisfied. Paneer tikka was worst. Guy who took all ordered was calm and gave two boiled rice complimentary and didnt charged for paneer tikka.

Food is good. The service is the worst. Not coming back. I suggest the chef find another restaurant.

Very happy we tried Chez Devi. Did a delivery order. Large menu, easy to use website and place order. Great Tandoori, Cashew & Coconut Shrimp, Mushroom Rice, and Garlic Naan - all delicious. Courteous delivery person.

We will definitely return soon. Nice ambiance and very attentive service. Large variety of food. Everyone in our party was pleased.

Service is not up to mark. Drinks and Food order was completely messed up. Gave wrong drink, taste less appetizer (Gobi Manchurian), did not serve full set of paratha, and the best part was, we ordered Veg Biryani and we were served Jack Fruit Biryani.

Wake up owners! Patios and Dine In have just opened up, we need you to be on your very best to serve the customers.

It was my worst experience ever in the restaurant, Firstly, we haven’t gotten seated for 10 minutes and the following nobody came to take our order for 30 minutes and later it keeps getting worse.
After placing the order, we sat for at least 50 to 60 minutes without a glass of water have been offered.

I would never recommend this place.

Finally the food arrived and I wasn’t even hungry and they just give you water again and again to fill your stomach with water which is free and they give you a bill with extra food which you didn’t even order.

They forgot my ginger ale in the order BUT the pick-up was contactless, food was delicious and ready early, and the portions for a single meal were more than I needed. Flavourful spiciness that didn't burn. Pretty dining area that I'll definitely be going to in the future.
