Chez Jules

Décevant et très cher pour ce que l on a mangé. Une assiette pêcheur partagée, une salade césar, une joie de bœuf, 2 verres vin blanc et 2 verres rouge. 202 dollars cad, ttc et tips inclus. Pour ce prix la on a chez nous un super resto étoile avec menu 3 voir 4 services.

Super de beau resteaurent ou j'ai mangé le meilleur carré d'agneaux au Québec une entre de soupe au poivrons rouge qui étaient délicieuse pour ma femme elle a mangé un steak à la cuisson bleue qui était parfait accompagné de la même soupe que moi comme désert une crème brûler et café à Oui pour le vin un Broully le tous pour 250$

We had a hard a hard time finding a spot for breakfast and stumbled upon this place. Really happy we did, food was really good. I even got more than what I asked for at no cost.

Recommandé un peu partout dans les guides et sur internet j'ai finalement été déçu par ce restaurant à la carte française. C'est un décor un peu vieillissant. Beaucoup de personnes au service, on a attendu un moment nos plats. Ma joue de boeuf était fondante, mais pas vraiment bourguignone. La sauce était plus un jus de viande qu'une sauce au vin.
Pour ma compagne, c'est une petite cuisse de canard, un peu sèche, qui lamui a été servi. Il était mentionné verdure, donc une salade pour accompagné le plat. La serveuse était perdue, on l'a réclamé. Bref, c'était pas ma meilleure expérience québécoise.

Tout du début à la fin était excellent! La joue de bœuf était cuite à la perfection et fondait en bouche. Les assaisonnements, les accompagnements, absolument tout le repas était parfait. Remerciement à Charles, notre serveur qui a prit grand soin de nous.

Vraiment pas un grand restaurant un des pire que je suis allé pourtant il y a beaucoup de 5 étoiles, sûrement des amis du.

The food here was good, as were the cocktails, though I feel like the quality could have been a little more upscale for the price. The servers were polite and considerate, but clearly overwhelmed despite it being a Monday.

Beautiful little cafe restaurant tucked away on a side street. Great breakfast and service. Awesome place to eat after mass at the Basilica.

At this current time, this restaurant does not live Up to any Hype. I should have been warned when it was empty on the patio and had one other seating inside when I arrived for my spot at 6pm
The Service was great.
The food was not okay.
Escargots = bland
Duck leg confit = wAyyy overpriced and too salty. The saltiness Reminded me of lap yuk Duck from Chinese bbq. Except it was really lean. And not very duck flavoured.

Was unsatisfactory. Bread = three slices of Baguette with not enough Emmenthal cheese to cover it

The Salad was plain NO dressing or vinaigrette on it whatsoever and the cheese on it was poorly finished.

The service was the best part all staff conversed in English as needed. The meal was. Overall way overpriced and not satisfying.

After a walk and sites we ate properly at another spot.

Bel endroit sympa! Coquille St-Jacques et tartare de saumon excellent. Anthony apporte la touche finale!

Très belle expérience dans son ensemble! Personnel courtois et compréhensif, nous avons demandé une autre table, plus intime, et en aucun cas nous n’avons senti que cela dérangeait le service même à l’heure du souper. Menu varié et représentatif de la cuisine française. Nous y retournerons sans hésitation!

Très bon mais service interminable la soirée que j'y suis allé. Peut-être un hasard mais 4h pour souper c'est long. J'ai même dû laisser de l'argent sur la table et ranger ma carte de crédit tellement chacune des étapes avaient un temps d'attente démesuré!

We ate a leisurely meal at Chez Jules in March, 2022. Warning: you will absolutely need a reservation, which you can do easily online.

I enjoyed a delightful cocktail of gin, elderflower, lillet, & grapefruit; he, a biere rousse beforehand. We split a bottle of Château Eugénie Bordeaux with the mains - a merlot-Malbec blend, dark and velvety.

My partner had the lamb shank; I ate beef cheeks braised in red wine. Both were fork-tender, richly-flavoured, just perfect.

We finished with a tartelette au citron for him, mousse au chocolat for me (likely the best I have ever had).

It was all superb, and our server was excellent.

We’ve stayed at the Auberge Place d’Armes, to which Chez Jules is attached (going back years to when Chez Jules was called Pain Béni), and I love both the inn and the bistro. I have never had a meal that was not delicious. It’s on our must-eat list whenever we are in Québec.

Absolutely LOVE this restaurant. The food is so perfectly French, the service is great, at the atmosphere is quaint and lovely. 14/10 recommend.

Food was OK, but not hot. Why is it in Canada food is not served hot? Service was terrible. I would have expected much more from this restaurant. I read really good reviews, but I was disappointed. Very expensive for what it was

Unfortunately we didn’t have a good time at this restaurant. The waiter was friendly and the place seemed nice and the French Onion Soup was amazing.
But, we waited for our food for over one hour and when my steak finally arrived, it was raw. When I mean raw I mean raw… when I politely asked the waiter to remove my plate he tried putting the fault on me and went inside. Keep in mind that I paid almost $40 for that steak…
In the end he gave us 15% which was nice, but didn’t even cover half of the cost of the streak…
We will not be returning to that restaurant.

This NO fast food, folks. My only complaint was the rose was way too cold, took me 10 minutes to warm it up with my hands before I could taste. I went French and wished I could order more. Service was great, water bottle replaced with cold in middle of meal, silver replaced, many details. All food were superb - onion soup, fois gras, coquille St. Jacques and the mille fueille. Unfortunately took me 2 days to get a reservation plus my last night in Quebec or I'd make this place a habit! Not cheap but worth it!

The food was very good but our waiter, although pleasant, was not great. The rest of the staff was very pleasant and helpful. The atmosphere was nice and family friendly.

Great service considering the amount of people that where in the city and the staffing problems all restaurants are trying to deal with coming out of covid restrictions. The food was excellent as was the desert.
Word of warning the restaurants get booked very quickly so if you intended to visit the old port of Quebec City book ahead.

Exceptional and courteous service. Our waiter was very accommodating, helpful and patient. The food was decent, but missed the mark for what we expected given the price. By no means was it bad- (it was enjoyable), but simply not what you’d expect with such a hefty bill. The lamb was well cooked but the seasoning was very mild, and the beef cheek was soft but small and somewhat mediocre. We understand that the ingredients and the preparation are expensive, but with prices like these you’d expect the food to make your jaw drop. Unfortunately it wasn’t quite there for us. The décor and the ambiance was nice, and the separators made the restaurant covid friendly. All in all, decent but expensive.

The food was not bad but for the price given I would have expected more.

For the entrée, I tried the soup of the day, the beef tartar and the tomatoes and mozzarella. The soup was so watery for a cream it was really disappointing. The meat of the beef tartar was really hard to chew and it was served at a room temperature wich was really weird. The tomatoes and mozzarella entrée was alright but nothing special about it.

All the main dishes were good, it saved the night. The beef cheek was savoury and the mashed potates really creamy. On the same note, the raviolis were amazing and well executed.

If you wanna try out this place, you should book in advance since the restaurant is located in a very touristy area.

Première visite chez Jules, nous n'avons pas regretté. Ambiance chaleureuse, bel accueil, très bon service. L'équipe est bien rodée et très agréable. On a opté pour prendre 2 entrées et le dessert. Gardez vous de la place et ne manquez surtout pas les desserts.

Cuisine française avec des saveurs authentiques. Produit de qualité. Service professionnel et efficace. Les raviolis étaient très bons. Le tartare également. Légumes en accompagnement bien apprêtés. Bel emplacement à deux pas de la terrasse Dufferin. Même si le restaurant est au cœur du quartier touristique, ce n’est pas une attrape à touristes. Stationnement souterrain à proximité. Belle expérience.

Not worth the visit- Ripoff!
Nice location- 2 mins walk from Chateau- but quality of food is very mediocre + extremely expensive. Ordered 2 salads, 2 coquilles St Jacques (miniscule) & 2 Filets of sole- very thin.cut with a razor blade thick, no other garnishments in plate, filets were the size of your palm with small bowl of warm- not hot- rice on side + 2 glasses of wine- $159. OUTRAGEOUS!
Sole tasted like it was put in microwave frozen. Absolutely worst plate I've had for years anywhere. Do not go there unless you like to be taken by a fancy-reading menu.

Très bon restaurant bien placé. Assiettes raffinées et copieuses. Viande extra tendre. Serveur super sympa. J'y retournerai sans hésiter.

We walked into Chez Jules on a whim while looking for a place to have a late dinner. It was the frog legs that pulled us in since we had never tried them.

We were quickly seated on the last available table. Our waiter was so pleasant and attentive that our son wants to go back everyday just to say hello to him! The service was 100% 5 starts.

We ordered the french onion soup, which was the best we have had on our week long trip to Quebec. The cheese crust was crisped to perfection. For our main we ordered the plate of frog legs which was a generous enough portion for my husband and I to share. Sadly we had no room for dessert but will be going back to have that soup one last time before we leave Quebec city so will probably try some then.

They have a reasonably priced kids menu and the children were very happy with their butter pasta and beef burger.

All-round a very happy experience. I even sent some random strangers their way when I saw them choosing what restaurant to eat at in the plaza today:)
