This restaurant just doesn’t deserve its current high average rating at about 4.6 for our dinner there yesterday. The risotto was not cooked well and some rice felt really raw. The waitress insisted it was supposed to be cooked like that. When asked to take a bite herself, she did and still said it was expected. That was a straight lie as we have never eaten risotto like that. There were some other dishes being mediocre at best. For example, four of us couldn’t even finish the single dessert dish -“ Christmas log “. Very disappointed dinner last night for us.

A more quiet backstreet local place, just around the corner and out of the chaos of the main walking and traffic area near Pub St Patrick. Pleasant staff, good service, and English spoken easily as needed.

Charcuterie plate with 3 cheeses and 3 meats and bowl of crostini split between two as an afternoon snack was flavorful and delicious, although a bit pricey for the portions ($34 cdn). Still loved it all though and darn near licked the plate when no one was looking. If you look back at other reviews, the charcuterie selection seems to vary depending on what they have on hand that day or week.

Superbe bistrot un peu à l'écart de la rue touristique principale et de ses restaurants souvent surcotés.
La carte est réduite mais les mets sont de qualité comme le service.
Dernier point qui a été en avantage pour moi venant d'Europe mais visiblement un inconvénient pour d'autres, il n'est pas climatisé mais ventilé.
Adresse très sympa si vous êtes de passage sur la vielle ville de Québec.

Good quality products but poor value for money, fair portions (at least the meat we tried) and a very high price. Very short letter. They served us the wine by pouring it out of the glass every time it was served (50 CAN bottle of prosecco). I do not recommend it, there are other better alternatives in the city

Personnel attentionné, service rapide, bon prix et savoureux. Dommage que l endroit ait rapetissé en 20 ans

Avocado toast and brunch platter were great, service wash excellent. Made us tourists feel extremely welcome! Nothing overly fancy but price was cheap for the quality of the food and service.

BEST meal in Quebec! Service impeccable. Food unique, organic and delicious. If you have only one meal in Quebec, Chez Temporal should be it!

Endroit très moyen.manque de ventilation, vieillot sans charme et serveuse qui te fait sentir que tu la déranges à chaque interactions. Je n'y retournerai pas.

Wonderful dinner experience in Quebec City! Every dish was delicious and thoughtfully prepared. Fresh ingredients. Server was attentive to our family of four, checked on us often, and very patient with our questions. Definitely recommend RSVP because the place gets filled even on a week night.

Cuisine d'une qualité incroyable! Tout simplement notre meilleur restaurant de tout le Québec depuis notre arrivée! Ca fait plaisir de retrouver une subtilité dans la palette des goûts!
Gestion parfaite de la cuisson saignante de mon boeuf, risotto crémeux comme il faut, salé parfaitement (ce qui est destructeur chez les autres restaurants).

I ate at this restaurant October 9,2022. Really impressed with Chez Temporel. Menu is little. Was a bit pricey, but I find Quebec dining out is more expensive than in Vancouver, where I am from. I had the Risotto - which was $38! However, it was delicious. Came with a bunch of roasted veggies, five prawns and several baby scallops. Incredible. Be mindful ordering this - it also comes with clams and doesn't indicate on the menu. A woman beside me said it was too fishy with the clams and she thinks they were canned, as they were all chopped up, not in their shell fresh. I asked for the risotto without and truly delicious. I suggested they remove the clams from the dish as it was too delicious without them. The servers were lovely - they were happy to hang and chat which I love when I am travelling. Server opened two bottles of wine for me to try and he tried them with me. That never happens in Vancouver. Just a lovely experience.

We had a great meal at Chez Temporel, started with delicious onion soup, fallowed by duck confit salad and burgundy beef. Very cute and cozy spot.

Malheureusement pour moi, j'ai pris un de ces fameux grilled-cheese cheapos à 20$ qui sont servis dans la majorité des cafés de nos jours parce que ce que je voulais n'était pas disponible. C'était déjà une concession de manger une tranche de pain blanc avec du cheddar dessus pour 20$. Dude. Je me faisais ce lunch-là à 10 ans quand je revenais de l'école, j'aurais dû en vendre pis me rendre riche avec ça. Mais il était supposé y avoir du canard qui venait avec. Pas vraiment, non. J'ai eu un filament d'à peu près 10 grammes de canard. No joke. Au Maxi ou au Costco, t'as un canard complet pour 15 piasses. Tu le rentabilises en St-Crème ton oiseau. Filament. Par. Filament. Y se passe quoi pour qu'un cook puisse me servir ça pis être assez confus pour penser que ça vaut 25$ + taxes + tips.

Parce que ouais, c'était écrit 22$ sur le menu. Mais c'était 25$ à la caisse. Le menu n'était pas à jour.

Wait? Tu me dis que je payais pour l'ambiance? Celle d'avoir littéralement la moitié de ma table recouverte par le dessus du comptoir du resto parce qu'on est coincé a.f. Dans ce café surpeuplé?

Pas mal certain que monsieur Temporel lui-même se retourne dans sa tombe.

Juste tanné de me faire servir ce genre de chose.

Je mets 5 étoiles pour protéger mon karma. Je vois dans les autres reviews que je ne suis pas le seul à m'être fait servir un "sous-repas".

Un petit bistrot de style français…… mais quelle expérience! Service chaleureux et que dire de la nourriture. J’ai pris la pieuvre en entrée, un pur bonheur pour les yeux et pour le papilles gustatives. De loin la meilleure que j’ai eu le plaisir de déguster à Québec. Ce petit resto est retiré de la rue principale mais faite le petit détour et quitter St Jean pour vous rendre sans faute chez Temporel! Bon ma morue en plat principal m’attends…. Je vais savourer….

A gem! Authentic food, far from a tourist trap. Everything paired well together, dishes are researched and well executed. One of the best culinary experience I had in Quebec. The restaurant itself is charming, it feels like the owner invited you at his home. Chefs, cooks, servers every staff member was welcoming.

Petit endroit cosi, le personnel est agréable et souriant, ce n'était pas tres bruyant. Parfait.

Food is excellent and prices are very reasonable especially compared with other restaurants in the area. Highly recommended place.

Our Friday night family dinner was perfect at Chez Temporel. This cozy bistro is tucked away from the busy main streets and had a warm, welcoming and rustic vibe. We started with french onion soup and the escargot, which was buttery rich and set our expectations high for the mains. The beef burgundy was hearty and the meat was tender. The duck confit on mushroom risotto was savoury and perfectly done. The octopus dish was so tender and tasty. All our dishes were lovely and filling! The service here was five-star perfection as well. We would love to return next time we're in town and would recommend it to anyone in the area.

Ce restaurant ne se situe pas forcément dans les rues principales du vieux Québec mais est pourtant très sympa.
J’ai pu y manger un croque de Charlevoix sui était vraiment très goûtu (le fromage fondu était top).
Le service était également très cool.
Attention, le restaurant est assez petit en contenance, il se remplit donc assez vite!

I found this lovely restaurant by just searching on maps 3 hours before dinner time. There was a picture of a bowl of risotto and that's what lured me in.
However, when I ordered, it turned out that they change their menu according to different seasons so they didn't have the exact risotto I was hoping to try.
Nevertheless, I ordered a duck confit and mushroom risotto, a Croque de Charlevoix and snails which, OMG, were all super delicious. They are all so tasty that I can eat ten of each dish by myself.
All the dishes were flavored perfectly, did not taste like just MSG, and the atmosphere of the restaurant was very welcoming and cozy. I would totally come here at least 5 times a week if I lived in QC City.

Une expérience culinaire ahurissante. Un service impeccable. Un lieu mythique. Ça me fâche tellement que c’est parfait.

Portions trèèèèees petites. La nourriture est tres basique aussi. Le café était imbuvable. J'ai reçu dans mon assiette une vieille salade avec une slice de concombre, une MOITIÉ de tomate cerise et 6 patates frites. N'ALLEZ PAS BRUNCHER LÀ. Total pour 2 personnes: 60$.

Un plaisir de retrouver un plaisir gustatif comme celui-là.
Le risotto est crémeux comme il faut, avec un très très bon goût, le canard était parfaitement cuit. Quant à l’assiette de boeuf, les légumes étaient également très bons et la purée un gros coup de coeur, le bœuf était cuit comme il le faut.
Le sel est loin d’être omniprésent comme dans d’autres restaurants, c’est de loin le meilleur restaurant de notre week-end!
Je recommande à 100% ce restaurant, les serveuses sont à l’écoute et très gentille, et félicitations aux cuisiniers.

Awesome little French Bistro just steps from our Air bnb. We wanted something light so went for the tomato soup and duck salad and chicken feta salads. All three were fantastic. Will definitely return for the duck entree.

Small restaurant off the beaten path with a limited menu, but great food and friendly staff. Highly recommend!

Lovely French bistro vibes. Pleasant evening meal. Only complaint is we were seated right next to the kitchen and it was extremely hot in that spot. I'd try to avoid that location in the restaurant if you can. Food and service were delicious.

I can't say enough good things about this place. Great food, excellent service, outstanding staff. French onion soup is a must.

5* just for the quality of food. Looks way more simple than it tastes. Still overpriced but may be fair taking to account all nearby restaurants.

Had a family dinner here, and the cod was delicious! I was also craving a chocolate croissant, which was also very good.
