CHIYOKO Sushi Bar & Steakhouse

We had the absolute pleasure and honor of being hosted at Chiyoko Sushi Bar and Steakhouse in Montreal by my dearest sister in celebration of our mother’s birthday.

Chiyoko delivers an exceptional dining experience. The Sashimi Rainbow appetizer impresses with its ceviche-like slices of tuna, salmon, and yellowtail, perfectly paired with green apple slices and citrus.

The Jalapeño Bluefin steals the spotlight, featuring Grade A+ tuna slices with coriander, caviar, fried green onions, and jalapeño.

The Spicy Edamame stands out for its great flavor, enhanced by a teriyaki and spicy seasoned sauce.

Both the Fish Tacos and Chicken Tacos, served chilled on a hard shell with avocado and diced tomatoes, offer a refreshing twist but could be even better on a soft shell taco.

The Hot and Sour Soup, infused with tropical citrus flavors and garnished with fried green scallions, presents a delightful combination of tofu, chicken, udon noodles, and enoki mushrooms cooked in coconut milk, daring the most sophisticated palate for heated flavor.

Moving to main dishes, the Chicken Burger is a highlight, featuring a plump, finely chopped, and seasoned chicken breast on a homemade bun, drizzled with Chiyoko chicken sauce, and served with premium julienne fries.

The Chicken Katsu, while crispy, could use a bit more flavor, especially considering its hefty chicken piece.

The Chiyoko Burger, a 1/2 pound minced beef and veal creation, grilled and topped with caramelized onions, mushrooms, and tempura enokitake, is a flavorful delight with Chiyoko's special wasabi sauce.

The Beef Teriyaki, with beef fillet and stir-fry vegetables, may be a bit too generously saturated with a teriyaki-style sauce.

While the Tuna Tartare features that same amazing grade tuna discussed earlier, the flavor is slightly overpowered by a lot of fresh cilantro.

The dessert finale was absolute fireworks! A warm chocolate soufflé paired with dairy-free ice cream crescendos with the devoured fried ice cream ball. An overall culinary delight.

My only wishful advice would be to offer some of the bread sandwiches paired with Montreal’s famous sourdough bread from breaderie. As someone touring in the city, it would be great to take advantage of both the great meal, and the world famous bread that Montreal is known for at the same time.

The ambiance at Chiyoko is extremely pleasant with a mixed sense of sport and class, with well-spaced tables creating an enjoyable dining atmosphere.

The burgers are one of a kind, very juicy and delicious.

The hotcakes dessert is delicious, it's worth giving it a try.

Nice calming place to sit and relax with friends or family.

Looked at the menu online. There are no prices. No wonder because this restaurant is way too expensive for what they serve. Food was good but not a WOW. The worst part for me is they automatically charge 18% (plus taxe!) on the service. They said it was on the menu but I didn't see it. A little too late anyway when you're seated for a birthday dinner. Definitely a turn off. Won't ever be back.

Aside from the food being delicious and the owner going above and beyond for you, the atmosphere has such a great vibe. Must go!

BEWARE, they will charge you an arbitrary 18% service charge on your bill even if the service was terrible.

Whatever you do don't get fooled into choosing the chef special, it's a circus of sushi for $150 plus.

I was very disappointed with the service and food. I do not recommend anything from the sushi menu my dad liked the hamburger my mom took teriyaki chicken nothing special for the price you pay and vegetables were literally raw. I don’t mind paying but it gotta be perfectly made.

Everything about this place is not worth the price they charge. The food is fine, but a chicken burger should not be $40, especially this one. The service was subpar, with the waitress taking 20 minutes to come to take our order even though it wasn’t busy and there were multiple wait staff for a relatively small dining space.

Additionally she forgot to bring any of our drinks until we flagged her down, and then this restaurant has the audacity to automatically place a 18% service charge on the bill. Would never recommend this place, in fact I’m going out of my way to actively dissuade people from going.

Went for lunch, I enjoyed the restaurant decor, the sushi was good but Ive had better.service was rapid and server was very friendly!

What a bad experience it was.
250 $ for 2 persons, and nothing was great.all the sushis (specialties and signature dishes) lacked texture, and all the sauces were way to sweet.

First plate we got was overcooked, dry, abd tasted rancid.we told our server, who never got back to us.

Then, haha, we received all plates at the same time.nothing was impressive, nothing to remember.

This place deserves 5 stars! AMAZING service, excellent quality, great ambiance and DELICIOUS and fresh. Definitely one of the best kosher restaurants.

Place is very nice with modern design. Food is ok, but nothing crazy. Very pricey! Better sushi and cheaper is available not very far. Service is AWFUL! Management needs to change something. And they CHARGE the BILL Without asking with 18%! So service charge of 18%, no questions asked! The very tall waiter is very bad vibe and asks you to place an order while you are taking off your coat. Seriously, now. I didn't even have the menu yet. Verdict: if service doesn't change, would not try again.

Great place even if you don’t eat kosher like me. Good good, great service. We loved it so much the 1st night in Montreal that we came back the next day.
