Mum and I love this shop and make a point of visiting every month. Great British favourites available and lovely gifts also!

My previous visits were pleasant but today's visit unfortunately was not. The store had a sewer/mould smell. My partner picked up the very last bag of Titanic tea, which was past its expiry date.

Another customer was interested in trying the Titanic tea and he gave the bag to her. She lives out of town and while we were chatting we mentioned another store that sells British products online. We thought perhaps they might have the tea and she would be able to order it online. To my knowledge, Clarence and Cripps does not have an online store.

The woman at the cash must have overheard us. When my partner purchased his items she was glaring daggers at us. In the past another woman told my partner that if he wants Titanic tea ordered he's responsible for buying it (all of it?).

I used to live in Halifax, Nova Scotia. I remember being in a bookshop and requesting a particular book that was out of stock. The woman at that bookshop called her competitors and even gave me the address of the competitor that had the book. She wanted me to get the book I was looking for and she knew that being kind would ensure repeat business. I bought from her bookshop after that because she was friendly and she went out of her way for me.

It's too bad the vibe at Clarence and Cripps today was not like that at all. I've met other friendly staff at both the store and the restaurant. I don't expect to get the death stare when I'm visiting a store. It makes me wonder why I'm bothering to support this business at all. Because this is not what we've usually experienced we will let this go. I hope it doesn't happen again.

Authentic English breakfast + full range of UK amenities. Whenever nostalgic for that British ambience, I always hit this spot in Hudson… oh yes! They also have Flakes! I just love this place…

What a delight going out for a full English breakfast with everything but fried bread that l said no too but otherwise all the trimmings yes please washed down with a pot of tea.
Certainly worth the visit we live in Montreal and well decided let’s go out to Hudson have breakfast walk around Hudson then be home early enough to chill Sunday afternoon.
Service is great you order they have two seating areas indoors and they will have a sun deck soon.
All in all a great experience very enjoyable will look forward to going back again.
It’s always nice to stock up on treats as well.

Great Britain in Canada. I lived in GB for 4.5 years and this place made me time travel to home back there: the house layout and decoration, the products, the food, and the owners, everything will make you experience a teleportation across the Atlantic. A touch of English pop brings some more quaint enjoyable overseas. The owners are nice people, and their English breakfast is an absolute delight - even better than most in GB itself. Definitely the #1 traditional in and around Montreal. Will definitely come back.

Had a delicious breakfast then went shopping for some sweets, a look at the clothing section, the books before heading out home

Nous avons adoré la place.le fish & chips est excellent, accompagné dune purée de petits pois.on choisit sa tasse anglaise pour un vrai thé anglais.et jai fait provision de produits made in england.une petite oasis.

Vraiment fan de l’endroit! Du resto à la boutique! Les proprios sont gentils, chaleureux et sympathiques. L’expérience du thé à l’anglaise est un must! Un des meilleurs endroits pour déjeuner également. Et la boutique regorge de trésors…

Wonderful shop for British goods! Had great Cod and Chips and picked up Cheese and Onion Crisps, some Scones and English Breakfast Bangers!

We stopped by for the first time today and we’re impressed by the incredible selection of goods and treats from the UK.

One of the best places to get british snacks in Quebec. Been here a few times and receive impeccable goods and service every time. Super comfy place and location, will try to swing by again some time this year.thanks again from olivia, chris, and sue

Amazing fish and chips, cooked to perfection. Loved it. The owners and staff are really great friendly people and they said "hi" and chatted even though they were very busy. A fabulous store with a range of authentic British items! Best store in Montreal for picking up unique British gifts. A lot of attention to detail, and they ask people to wash hands to follow Covid protocols. There is a park and beach nearby if you want to have a nice picnic. Lovely place that I would suggest that you all go to. I will definitely go back again.

I've already been here a few times and it's still one of my favorite stops while driving through Hudson Quebec. Always friendly staff, great selections for snacks from the UK as well as merchandise from shows and movies like Doctor Who or Harry Potter.

After years of trying to find the best fish and chips in Montreal, I finally found it I Hudson, delicious.the real deal.

Clarence & Cripps - on the main street in Hudson, a cosy variety shop of foods and gift ideas with a British flare where one can also enjoy some great fish and chips. They offer the choice of haddock or cod; I had the cod which was fried to a perfectly golden crisp batter. It didn’t have a strong fishy smell or taste, reaffirming it’s freshness. It flaked nicely into large white pieces using the disponible wooden fork and knife provided with the takeout meal which came bundled in newspaper, just as it’s done in Britain. The “chips” or thickly cut and fried potatoes were very good too. Both the fish and chips needed more salt for my liking. A generous amount of salt packets were provided in the order, as was ketchup, and a wedge of lemon to flavour the fish. I was disappointed at first that no tartar sauce was offered but then learned that tartar sauce originated in France therefore would have taken away from the authentic British experience that Clarence and Cripps’ intention is to provide. I recommend you drop in for the memorable experience of visiting the store, discovering British products and of course, tasting their signature dish of Fish & Chips.

I lived in the UK for 6 years, and this is hands down one of the best fish and chips I've ever had! And the fried sausages are delicious. This place is a little gem

If you miss the days when a shop owner took the time to talk with their customers, you should give this place a try. A treasure trove of British favourites.including Fish and Chips made to order! So lucky it is close by for me, but The location in beautiful Hudson Quebec is worth a drive.

Cute little place British food and stuff. They have a parking for customers. Nick /nacks too. I loved it. Will go back again.

I'll try it very soon. In my adolescent days, there was a fish and chips take out place on Decarie called "Decarie fish and chips". They moved to Jean Talon due to construction of the expressway. Run by 1st generation British people, I have never had better fish and chips since, not even close. They are long gone now, and they never gave me the recipe but I think they used Haddock fish in a beer batter. I have high expectations of Clarence And Cripps.

Absolutely brilliant to walk into, I felt like I was back in London.
Everything you can think of that's Scottish, British, Welsh & Irish, is all in this little gem of a shop.
Unfortunately the restaurant area is closed due to covid but the shop is open. Check out the freezer in the back of the shop they have frozen baked goodies to take home. The bangers are the closest to British sausages that I have ever found so far living in Montreal. The pastry on the steak & kidney pie is so good, you really must try it and don't forget the mushy peas, there on the shelf.

Hi, I had a very stressful day in the health care field, needed a quick decision on dinner so I reached out to our community. My husband picked up our fish n’ chips, I was so thrilled. So fresh, hot, paper wrap reminded me of our origins, Verdun for me but I’m first generation Scottish. Thank you, felt like home cooking.

Wide assortment of jewellery, food, and other merchandise. Meals are made there and served hot. Service polite. Owners are very on the ball in regards to cleansing. Advising "all who enter" to wash hands. All in all! A very nice place to visit as it makes you feel like you are back home in one of the the "shoppes" in England, Scotland, Wales or Ireland!

I LOVE this place. It's a bit far when you're from the Montreal downtown area, but the place is worth the trip.

If you're British and miss the comfort food from home or are an Anglophile and want to try a bunch of cool stuff, that's the place to go.

On top of the the store is cute, the staff is the friendliest ever and Hudson is a really nice spot to visit.

My family has been visiting Clarence & Cripps as long as I can remember! They've got all the British staple treats as well as fantastic homemade pies, and you can have english breakfast or lunch all day! A fantastic little place in a fantastic little town!

Wonderful place with amazing staff. Recently conducted a baby shower get together attended by people across Canada. Everyone praised the ambience, location and most importantly the food. The high tea package is awesome and comes with "out of this world" scones. They had enough space for about 20 of us at the patio and we even played games. Cant wait to visit them again. Super courteous staff. Also, do try their Cornish pasty.amazing

Amazing gem! My husband and I went there over the weekend and it was an amesome experience! The service was great, the store was stashed with cool products but most of all. The food was DELICIOUS! I ordered the bangers and mash with gravy and had an apple and rhubarb imported drink. My husband had the fish and chips with a ginger beer. Honestly they were the best darn mashed potatoes and my husband said the best fried fish we had ever had! I am so excited to go back again!

Delicious Fish & Chips and a nice cup of Yorkshire tea. Lovely location in the beautiful town of Hudson with a huge range of British food and gift items. Next time I'll try the full English breakfast!

What a disappointment the breakfast was. A poor imitation of the real thing. Full of expats talking too loud. We all know you're Brits having your moment of nostalgia. Just tone it down.
