Wonderful school with very accommodating support staff to help you modify your schedule so that you can succeed! Would definitely recommend!

CLC was instrumental in building my confidence in French, and they were exactly what I was looking for in a language school! As someone who has taken French in a classroom setting for years, I had a basic foundation but lacked enough confidence with speaking. Upon moving to Montreal, I knew that I wanted to mainly practice oral communication and gain confidence with the language.
With a variety of teachers and subjects, I spent ~5 weeks at CLC through the Fluent 23 course. I loved the instruction that was provided and felt my confidence blossom throughout my time there. CLC were supportive even when I was pulled away from classes due to unrelated conflict. This school is streamlined and professional, yet their classes have a unique vibrancy. They definitely fulfilled my expectations and I would take classes here again in the future!

Oh well, I don't even know where to start. I wanted to attend a normal school to learn advanced French, instead I paid to learn nothing new.
- The teachers don't follow any solid method, and the discussion topics are totally uninteresting
- Be ready to be corrected, interrupted and talked down all the time, to the extent that you start to think that what the heck I am doing here
- If you want to speak a language, just download any free language exchange app and your learning experience will be much more rewarding that here.

As a South African, and someone who couldn't speak a word of French, I feel like I need to state how amazing this school is. I started with my part time classes at CLC in September 2020 as a beginner. I had to obtain a B2 (level 8) oral level for immigration in Quebec. With the help of the school and the teachers, I was able to do that within 1 year. In additon to passing my TEFAQ oral exam (the first time), I met incredible people and friends who continue my learning journey with me. CLC makes learning French fun and I never thought I would have the confidence to speak and connect with people using a completely different language.

Great place to learn, I have been more confidend in my Japanese learning and each level adds to the one before. I highly reconmend for learners!

Very professional and friendly staff!
I have gone to this school on location and done virtual classes and both experiences were fantastic!
I love the small classes. The main focus is communicating in your choice of language so you get to speak a lot and then learn a bit of grammar.
The teachers are there to guide you and are very friendly!
I highly recommend this school if you are looking to communicate verbally in a new language!

Avoid this school for all costs. The system is inefficient and they require time consuming placement tests even if you are a returning student after six months or you have language certificates to show. Also the fact that you cannot improve your written language skills here is a big minus. I have studied French in four different institutions and two different countries before and this is unfortunately the worst experience.

I have a bad experience with this language institute.
Teachers were good but the system was so terrible.

They do not follow a set structure. They do not give you work to do or exercises. Was hard to learn anything new. The games we play are fun and teachers are nice, but I am learning faster now by not going here.

The method and learning experience I've had it's amazing, all the teachers are good, committed to their teachings and the time on the classes just flies. Highly recommended

I am in the daytime class. There are different teachers for each hour, which is very unique for me. They take turns teaching grammers, revisions, conversations, games etc and switch their responsible topics each week, so you won't get too used to the same methods of the same teacher. I find it refreshing.

I registered in the French classes for intermediate level. The first class I had classmate that after going to this school for more than 4 months, were not able to form simple phrases in French. Teachers don't follow a solid method to teach. When I informed them about it and I wanted to cancel my registration they deducted about 200$ from my 400$ payment for the class because I cancelled it after the first class! I believe they don't have enough students that have to make money in this way.

Terrific school and staff. I took a one week intensive french class and really got a lot out of it. The classes are structured in a way that gives a lot of time to speaking as well as learning grammar and vocabulary. There is a nice continuity between classes so what you learn in one class, you practice in the next. I got some very good tips for how to continue my french practice outside of the class and some good tips for how to accelerate my learning path. The staff is terrific - very supportive and clear in their communication and teaching. All in all, a great experience.

I’ve learned different languages using various methods, and even tried learning french before. But never have I encountered a method quite as the one CLC uses. After 2 weeks, I am able to communicate in french with a confidence that I’ve never had. The atmosphere and materials are great. A wonderful place to learn! I gladly recommend it!

This place is not a real school, $50 registration fee? What the hell does that even mean!? Paying $50 for someone to enter your name on a computer that literally takes a minute? Lol

And then there’s $40 for the lesson, $25 for their photocopies. You're already at $115 before you even start the class! If you’re going to pay that much you might as well go to one of the universities in Montreal, at least the universities are accredited and your diploma of completion will actually be worth something later, if you need it for a job.

Very helpful staff who were able to answer my questions about the different programs at the school. Friendly teachers and environment.

Best place ever! Everybody is nice and they really care about your learning. I studied french A1 and its was a very useful course to help me to integrate at my new life in Montreal. Definitely I will come back to continue with my french.

Very helpful, I took a french class and now when I talk to french women they do not call me 'Imperialist Swine' anymore!

Currently taking Spanish here and am loving it. The teachers are all really friendly and professional. What I like most is the ability to learn entirely through speaking and making mistakes instead of the traditional grammar/spelling lessons that get tiring way too fast. Absolutamente lo recomenderia.

I had a great experience at CLC - smart teachers that gave encouraging attention to each student, very small class sizes, a friendly, energized, and professional environment, and virtually no stress.

The structure felt very well thought out - the schedule of classes was ideal for staying alert and attentive. I gained a lot of confidence over my two weeks in the French intensive 30 program, and significantly improved my oral and written French, as well as my oral comprehension - and I genuinely had fun doing so! It's nothing like the language classes I took in high school.

I would definitely recommend CLC to a friend.

I signed up to take japanese classes, they booked my spot on me and forced me to wait until the next set of classes started. They didn't refund my money, or return any money for paying ahead of time. They didn't send me a schedule or even confirm that I was signed up. They wouldn't even tell me if I was taking afternoon classes during the week or on the weekend when they changed me. I never got my money back from this. Do not take classes here.

I took the Intensive 30 course over a period of 4 weeks in the summer of 2018 and had an absolutely wonderful time.

I was used to the more traditional teaching methods common in Europe and was delighted by the conversation and interaction based curriculum at CLC. It was a confidence boosting and liberating experience! I learned a lot, had fun and made new friendships that will last me a lifetime.

One thing you should bear in mind is that Montreal is a very bilingual place and the locals have a tendency to switch to English if they detect an accent. Do what I did and just stick to your guns. Explain that you need to practice your French and they will usually smile and speak French to you!

I recommend the CLC for its interactive teaching methods, its professional teachers and its small number of students per class.

Very happy to study at CLC. Great teachers and helpful staff. Took core 15 French for 4 weeks and feel its really moved me forward with vocab and basics so that I can practice and continue to learn. Liked the social events too and the space is cozy with small groups for better learning. I will go back in future if I can!

I live in the Southeastern US and wanted to revive my rusty French language skills. CLC Montreal was open to my idea of a week's intensive review. My Zoom interview with Laure was enjoyable and educational - a preview of my experience there. Her recommendation for the Intensive 25 course and my placement level were both right on target. When I arrived, I was quickly integrated into the community. My classmates were from Brazil, Switzerland, Japan, and Taiwan; everyone friendly, welcoming, motivated, and cooperative. Before and after class we would speak amongst ourselves in French, which was good practice. Our classes emphasized speaking, and I could see my own "shyness" about speaking gradually fade with time. Teachers were interested in our education and were always very sensitive as they developed our language skills. They took notes everyday on each student, which aided individual progress. The faculty's dedication and the community's inclusive and supportive spirit are major strengths of CLC Montreal.
After school activities provide opportunities for learning about Montreal and acquiring additional vocabulary. We visited a Museum on McGill's campus and an environmental educational facility, while I was there. And, of course, there's Tea Time - 2 hours of free conversation which included French speakers from outside the school. With all this practice, I found it became easier then to speak outside school.on the Metro, in stores and brasseries. It seemed less intimidating to speak outside of school based on my experiences in school.
My goal was achieved, far beyond my expectations. CLC Montreal has a warm, supportive, and challenging atmosphere - good for learning. Every student I met had a goal and the faculty wanted to help them achieve it. I look forward to returning soon. CLC Montreal is awesome!

I was very interested in the CLC for private French tutoring. I was asked to come in for an assessment prior to booking my first session with the teacher. During the session I very clearly said that I was not looking to just learn to conjugate verbs and I strongly wanted to work on my conversation and social French.
I paid the $40 for the hour and was required to pay a $50 registration fee. “Mandatory” materials that I wasn’t informed of ahead of time were pushed on me for $25 (this was a photocopied leaflet of simple French lessons.)
Low and behold the teacher spent my entire first lesson having me conjugate the simplest verbs.
Will not be going back.

Highly recommended to anyone with a serious intent to learn to communicate in French. Both the methodology and its implementation at CLC are superior to anything I've ever experienced in college or at the Alliance Francaise. They maintain a strong emphasis on speaking and listening that diminishes bashfulness and brings out the best, friendliest, most lucid version of every student. In time, all the speaking and listening refinements trickle down to reading and writing skills, which organically improve.
