Was very indecisive on which cordonnerie store to visit to repair my boots in Montreal. All I have to say is i'm glad I picked this store.

Le travail de couture est généralement bien fait, mais je me suis fait avoir avec un nettoyage et une imperméabilisation de chaussures en microfibres. Le nettoyage a été mal fait et l'imperméabilisation a été faite par-dessus la poussière incrustée. Ce qui se voyait. La solution proposée a été de cacher la misère avec du produit opaque. Ce qui n'est pas l'idéal. La notion de service à la clientèle est inconnue, ici (attitude trop souvent grinçante du cordonnier, malgré ma courtoisie), et les prix sont prohibitifs. À l'avenir, pour tout ce qui n'est pas du travail spécialisé, j'irai ailleurs.

Service et altération impeccable. L’expérience est au rendez-vous et les artisans aimes ce qu’il font!

I was first recommended Corinthia a couple of years ago, as I wanted to reduce the height of some of my high heels. We did one pair which I had bought in Rome almost 34 years ago (no they were not stiletto) just to see. Amazing it worked and I promptly did 3 other shoes.
Then I was totally taken aback, I went with a pair of my husbands shoes wheelchair bound and every time he stood up his foot would slip forward. They had his shoes ready within 2 days (bear in mind the turnaround time is usually 2-3weeks. That was above and beyond. This kind of attention to detail is rare in our day and age. Thanks so very much.

Excellent and friendly service. Amazing job on both pairs of boots I brought in. The heels were lowered on my Dr. Martens which I could not wear before because of foot pain. Now I can wear them for the first time. The bottoms of my HH Corcoran boots were completely redone after after a previous place had done a terrible job. The pictures speak for themselves. Fast work and friendly service. They're really honest (I experienced myself and saw it with another customer; they'll tell people "there's probably no need to do that" or "it's probably not worth it to do that" rather than overcharging and making extra work for themselves). Really excellent.

Amazing quality work (fixed the zipper on high end leather boots and and fixed stitching on intricate brogueing on another). It is a place that has lots of family history and clearly proud of their workmanship. They are able to resole Goodyear and Norwegian welt shoes and boots (only a handful of places can do this in Montréal). Also have a great selection of Saphir and Avel products and brushes for sale. Will definitely return to fix other shoes and highly recommend them to others.

A while back, I ruined the best pair of shoes that I own. Every so often I would pull them out and look at what I did never thinking that the damage could be repaired. On a whim I brought them here, and within a few days they were restored to like-new. They can perform miracles here. I cannot recommend Carinthia highly enough.

J'y ai fait réparé une paire de chaussures, puis des bottes et une autre paire de bottes, et chaque fois j'ai été entièrement satisfait. C'est tellement mieux faire réparer, car c'est souvent possible, plutôt que de jeter inutilement aux ordures et ensuite acheter neuf (jusqu'à trois fois plus cher que faire réparer).

I got a small repair done here. I asked for recommendations and Carinthia came up multiple times. It's like going back in time, you can see the workshop, smell the leather. I haven't gone to the shoe cobbler in a while and not in sud ouest neighborhood but this is where I'll bring my stuff. They send you a text when your item is ready for pick up.

I got stitches on the tongue of my boot because it kept moving since there was no loop (has to do with your foot shape or gait) and it costed me 11+tx which I believe is standard. When we talked we went over other solutions, which were the same as the ones I found online. I felt confident in them doing a good job, and now my boot tongue stays where it is, I love them!

Update: one of the tongue stitches undid itself and I swung by, they weren't busy and were able to fix it on the spot. He mentioned they guarantee their work!

So happy to see that the team is now handling Dainite Soles. A massive gap is filled in Montreal!

The team here is kind, professional, and good at their work. I own many pairs of goodyear welted, blake-stitched, and hand-stitched shoes, and I am happy to have found a local cobbler I can really trust. You can tell they really care about their customers, such as when they agreed to change the toe tap style they installed for me at my request. My last visit, I brought a pair of shell cordovan Florsheim Imperials for a refinish of the sole, and the work is very even and clean. They also helped me build up the leather at the toe on a pair of Allen Edmonds; the joining point between the new leather and the old is perfectly straight and flat, and the front is flush and even also. After a few wears, you wont be able to tell a difference besides that the new leather was nailed instead of stitched, so the stitching does not continue at the toe.

Something I love is that you can see them hard at work, and all machines and tools are in full view. They have all the machines you would need for any type of shoe repair work. They carry the full range of Saphir shoe products at reasonable prices, which, if you were not already aware, really elevates the shoes compared to when using cheaper shoe care products. They send you a text when your shoes are ready to pick up. Very smooth experience.

My points of general constructive feedback are the following: 1) The toe tap installation could have been farther forward on the shoe sole, and more centralized. They had installed the taps slightly away from the toe edge to hide the metal taps from the front, but for someone like me with a strong gait, the leather toe still wears down because the tap doesn't fully cover the tip. The taps are also not perfectly centered, although this may have to do with the cobbler avoiding damaging the welt where the stitching is. The symmetry between the two shoes would be improved if it were perfectly centered on both shoes. My personal suggestion would be to start stocking recessed toe taps like Lulu French tips, which look better to my eye, but this is a personal preference. 2) The communication could be more detailed for customers who really care about their shoes. When someone brings in shoes that are not just cheap cemented shoes, it couldn't hurt to explain in more depth what process they will use. Will they restitch the toe, or nail the toe when building it up? Will the result be visible i.e. Would you be able to tell a repair had taken place? If so, perhaps offer the more expensive solution of a complete resole, even if it might be overkill for most people? Some people such as myself may prefer to pay more for a more finished look, even if it really isn't strictly necessary. 3) The delivery was promised to be 1 week, but it took 1.5 weeks for the work to be complete. This is understandable given their large volume of work (well deserved I might add), but would have been nice to feel the deadline was respected fully.

Very expensive and bad service

Yes you did what I asked for, and it last for one full day.

I've been with Carinthia for more than 10 years. Trust me, the negative reviews by some people just make me roll my eyes. I have dozens of shoes from Louboutin, Manolo Blahnik, Jimmy Choo, Hermes, Gianvito Rossi, Aquazzura.etc.and Dom always does a superior job! I should mention that I only ask him to repair my shoes and no one else, so I have no experience with the more junior cobblers and assistants. However, when Dom sees a designer product, he will repair it himself. I've referred many clients to him and I've always heard back excellent service. I've never been disappointed. Yes, the repairs can get expensive but you need to factor in how much your shoes are worth. For 100-200$ shoes, maybe just get a new pair. In addition, they also repair designer handbags. Carinthia has a history in Montreal as the best repair shoe for designer goods, and this is exemplified by the fact that it has had contracts with Holt Renfrew and Louis Vuitton.
