I’ve been to Damas before and have had a better experience. Under no circumstances should you order the tasting menu. It has very little to do with actual Arabic food and the food itself lacked depth, especially the meats, and it was way overpriced. It has a fusion concept to it that unfortunately fell short. I was surprised that so many of the bite-sized servings lacked spices and were somewhat dry overall, even the assigned dessert was dry.

Shout out au barman Élliot qui m’as fait les meilleurs drinks et à Yannick pour son beau sourire et ses conseille vin et menu grandement apprécié. Sans gêne je peux dire que c’est assurément une des meilleur tables à Montréal.

Stellar service from start to finish. Thank you George. Atmosphere and design is very authentic and appealing. Prices are inflated however when you're in your 'prime' I suppose you milk it for all it's worth. Lentil soup, pistachio kebbe, and braised lamb dish among others. Oh a very unique appetizer; PASTIRMA, (Cured beef filet mignon, aged sheep milk cheese, and quail egg). Very good. I'm being generous with 4 stars. $24 for a glass of Armenian white wine? Not worth it. I will have to return to this establishment. This time with a guest, unlike the one who was with me on this eve, that will be appreciative and kind. This lady was not a 'lady' at all and has left a bitter taste from my experience. I shall 'redeem' myself. Cheers.

Great cocktails and delicious food. Yes, the food is a little over priced, but the quality is excellent.

We were told by friends to go here. Our server, Alan, gave us recommendations that were spot on. Great flavor, huge portions, service from the entire staff was as good as any restaurant we have been to. Will definitely recommend and return when in Montreal again.

Nous avons goûté plusieurs entrées et un plat dégustation avec des amis, et nous nous sommes régalés, à tel point que nous avons recommandé des entrées à 2 reprises. On aurait pu faire la même chose avec le plat de dégustation mais nos estomacs avaient atteint leurs limites.
Tout était excellent! Même si l'attente est longue pour obtenir une réservation, ça vaut la peine! On y retournera, c'est certain. Encore merci à Matéo (j'espère ne pas faire de faute dans le prénom.) pour son accueil chaleureux et son service impeccable!

J’y vais depuis plusieurs années et je n’ai jamais été déçue.

Les plats sont gouteux et généreux. Je suggère les deux fattets, le hummus garni d’agneau et la salade fattouch.

Pour pouvoir goûter à plusieurs plats, il est préférable d’y aller à plusieurs plutôt qu’à deux.

Je ne suis jamais déçue lorsque je vais au Damas, car les plats y sont copieux et goûteux!
Les fattets, le hummus, la fattouche.bref, tout est excellent.
Le service et l'ambiance sont aussi toujours autant chaleureux.

I cannot sing enough praise for Damas.

Excellent service. Beautifully regal atmosphere. Ridiculously moreish cocktails. This place gets 5 stars even without considering the food.

That said, the tasting menu is the way to go. Every dish has layers of flavours and textures to always make each bite interesting. Portion sizes will leave you with doggy bags to remind you in the next day of just how delicious the food is.

Yes, very pricey restaurant, so if you're looking for a cheap meal, look elsewhere. However, if you're looking for value, in addition to everything mentioned already, then you will never go wrong with Damas.

No place is perfect, definitely not this extremely overpriced restaurant. The presentation is very good, the taste is good.service not that bad.

Dinner at Damas was an unforgettable experience. From the décor, the service, and most importantly, the food itself, everything was outstanding. I would travel from Toronto to Montreal just to eat there again!

My first time dining here. We didn't have reservations and managed to get a table for 2 just as they were opening at 5pm.

The atmosphere of the restaurant is very nice and calming. The waiter's and waitresses did such an excellent job describing what some of the menu items were. It being my first time my friend wanted me to try many different dishes.

We got the mixed meat platter for 2-3 people, (we were only 2) and it was mouthwatering. Definitely a great plate for sharing. We also had the lamb dumplings, fried halloumi, lentil soup, fattoush, and the kunaffah for dessert. I have only one thing I could say, which isn't even negative. The kunaffah was a little dry. I think maybe their style uses a lot less of the clear sweet syrup. Everything else was absolutely amazing. Service was top notch. I love the brief description of every dish as it's being brought out. Keep it up! (Came from Ottawa for this)

The whole experience was amazing! We took the 10 service menu and everything was tasty. Service was excellent too!

Absolutely magnificent. Our server George was incredible, he was very patient explaining the menu in great detail and answering all the questions we had regarding the dishes. The food was incredible and every dish was cooked to perfection. The ambiance and feel of the restaurant was nice as well, the decor was very nice. I'm a huge fan of Damas and I will definitely be spreading the word.

Used to be excellent but portions got a lot smaller, prices went up by a lot and the service is good but rushed: having our conversations interrupted every 5 minutes is a bit much but understood that we were on a timer and that is probably why we were asked every second if we needed something else.

I can not describe how delicious the food and how great the service is at DAMAS.
It deserves extra STARS.

When you visit Montreal, visit Damas. Make sure you reserve few days ahead.

Quality service and menu. The staff are impeccable and diligent, the restaurant is a well oiled machine.

The fatoush and eggplant mutabbal were our favourite.

I’m a native Montrealer and this is my Favorite restaurant in the city. Syrian fusion gone trendy. Every dish is amazing. In my opinion the hummus and fattouche salad are the best items on the menu. The portions are generous but that goes along with the high price. I’d say each Main is for 2 people, and even each appetizer is for 2 people. The decor is cool with Middle Eastern vibe and lanterns hanging. Service was good, cleaning table after each course and filling water glasses without asking. Must reserve in advance! Hard to get a spot even though the resto has a generous amount of seating.

I’m Lebanese, so the food was nothing new. It was good. My grandma makes better food… first time there we took the dégustation for 125$ per person. Good portions, you are full at the end. Good experience but will not be coming back… they should at least include coffee/tea for 125$… it’s a bit exaggerated tbh

If there were 6 stars they deserve it. It was incredible! Choose the tasting menu to kick off our anniversary weekend in Montreal. Like bites of heaven, each dish was presented like a masterful piece of art. Art in depth, excellent presentation foreshadowing layer upon layer of flavors that melted into one’s senses transferring me to another time and place. The entire meal had my wife and I transfixed by all the subtle complexity of flavor. Paired with smart cocktails this meal set a very high bar for our gastronomical journey in Montreal.

Even with all the hype, Damas 100% exceeded my expectations for high end middle eastern dining.

Everything was great - portion sizes are generous, the appetizers (all sauces for me) are flavorful. I had the Friki, Lamb and Syrian wheat, which was tender, juicy, perfect lamb taste without any gamy-ness. The cocktails were complex and well balanced.

Service was friendly, and attentive. The atmosphere was middle eastern meets steak house, with rich colors, comfortable seating and an intimate feeling.

Considering the quality and portion size the price was more than fair. Would 100% go back!

The lamb hummus shawarma is to die for! Definitely coming back just for that.

The Fattet Makdous was also amazing. A must order.

Kibbe Neyye was great, but the portion is overwhelming for two.

Wasn’t a huge fan of their Aleppo Kabab but the other items were so delicious we didn’t care.

Tip: Portions are massive - we opted for 2 mezes and 2 mains (for 2 people) and only got through 50% of our mains.

First time at Damas (and first time having Syrian food) and it met all the hype! Easily one of the of the best restaurants in Montreal.

The beet spread had the perfect amount of sweetness and the hummus was savoury and rich. Both paired so well with the bread!

The octopus in the octopus salad was extremely tender which is rare in an octopus dish. The meat platter had good variety with the lamb chops being the standout!

I would give 3 stars for the food and an additional star for the wine (lots natural wine, interesting selection indeed). Nice that they offer pescatarian option, but I found the portions for the tasting menu might be a bit too much (both me and my male friends felt too full at the end of the tasting menu) would skip the tasting menus just do a la carte.

We arrived and had a problem with our reservation that was *completely our fault. * The Damas staff were friendly and worked super hard to try to accommodate us anyway on a packed-full night, and they succeeded in fitting us in. We enjoyed the pescatarian tasting menu with cocktails. Incredible. Just one example - eating the two falafel balls atop mint humus in tiny tiny bites so we could savor them properly. Recommend the Apricot Gimlet, Hibiscus Sipper and Aleppo Gin Sour!

Très bon, portions généreuses. On a pris 2 entrées: hummus Shawarma et hummus à l’aubergine pour 2 personnes ça a commencé à nous remplir et 2 plats salade de pieuvre et shish taouk. Le tout très bon, portions généreuses. Nous voulions prendre le menu dégustation par peur de ne pas être assez remplis mais aucun regret, nos choix étaient plus économiques, généreux et bons.

This restaurant was such an amazing experience, and food was exceptional 10/10. It was the best Syrian cuisine I’ve ever tasted! Will always go back every time I visit Montreal

Damas where to start! This place is fantastic I really enjoyed the tasting menu and going in a large group, I can assure you the experience is just as good. The food was definitely more authentic and definitely embodied a nice home cooked meal

Came here for a reunion dinner with friends and it was an incredible experience. We ordered the tasting menu and with one of our friends being vegetarian they were extremely accommodating with letting her eat a-la-carte so the rest of us could have the full experience. Every dish was delicious, and our waiter warned us not to fill up on pita up front - he was right! The portions were very generous, but things came out in a well-timed manner and never felt rushed. Gorgeous ambience and the drinks were delicious too. A perfect place for a special occasion - the tasting menu is a must.

Having heard so many great reviews of Damas, I was very excited to visit the restaurant for dinner with my family. We decided to go with a myriad of mezze, and accompany the starters with a fatet mozat and the mashewe platter.

The experience at Damas featured several hits and misses, and ultimately, we left feeling slightly disappointed. In terms of mezze, the hummus and muhamara were exceptional, with the creamiest hummus I've ever eaten, and a muhamara that was full of walnuts. A fattoush and kibbe neyyeh also delighted, especially due to the sweet yet tangy addition of pomegranate mollasses in the former. However, the borkes and grilled kibbeh were underwhelming and good but not great respectively. The hit and miss of dishes continued into the main courses, with an exceptional fattet mozat, but seriously underwhelming mashewe dish. In particular, the filet mignon was weirdly cut, and did not pair well with the spicy sauce placed on it. Shish taouk was very average, and we were disappointed by the use of mayonnaise in the toum.

Overall, had our order not consisted of the mashewe, we would have likely left thoroughly impressed, but for a restaurant of Damas' price and reputation, the underwhelming grilled meats made for a slightly disappointing experience.

We went 3 years ago and unfortunately, covid has them only offering takeout or delivery now. The vibe is super hip and can be a great place for a romantic date or a fun night out with friends. I can't remember what we ate but I remember it was very flavourful and filling!

Damas was just named the top restaurant in the country according to Yelp reviews. I'd definitely recommend trying it if you're in the city.

Nous avons pris un repas pour emporter dû aux mesures sanitaires en place. À défaut de pouvoir voyager, cette expérience fut un voyage sensoriel. Les kebabs à la griotte sont simplement divins (tout comme le reste)!

I've ordered Damas for delivery and it was exceptional. The food itself was so fresh and flavourful, and this place goes above and beyond with its takeout- vacuum sealed dishes with heating instructions to ensure it tastes just as great at home as it would in the restaurant. I can't wait to be able to dine in the restaurant itself but for now I'm going to keep ordering delivery over and over again.

Oh my god, I can’t forget this restaurant, I ate at so many restaurants but nothing like this, where Syrian cuisine lifted to this goodness, not even close.

I recently had the joy of receiving dinner from here as a gift. It was my first time experiencing their food and I'm happy to say that I wasn't disappointed.
The salad was fresh and wonderful with sprinklings of pomegranite seeds. The many dips and spices that were sent along with the main dishes really enhanced the experience. Everything was delicious, juicy and not overcooked. I highly recommend!

One of the Best restaurants I have been in my life with no doubt. It’s only pricy you have to spend money not less than 100$ but it’s worth it

Beautiful atmosphere and decor! Definitely, big portions and service despite super friendly, still need some basic training. When they mentioned they are part of the Byblos’s family and I said this has to be amazing however it was just ok. I will back for drinks and some appetisers.

Un des meilleurs restos de Montréal, sinon le meilleur! Ambiance unique et service client au top. On a commandé plusieurs fois en take-out pendant le confinement. On a remarqué une adaptation très rapide. Hâte de retourner en salle une fois la crise terminée. Keep up the good work Damas:)

Le kebbé nayyé et le plateau de grillades étaient un merveilleux mélange de saveurs et d'épices. Le service était excellent, on a été bien guidées à travers tous les plats et le sommelier a trouvé le parfait accord entre nos plats et les vins proposés. Une belle soirée, définitivement!

I am a second year student at the Culinary Institute of America. Me and my roommate, also a student at the CIA, vacationed in Montreal for a few days. We visited Damas expecting above average Middle eastern cuisine. The decor was beautiful and the service impeccable. We were truly blown away by the PERFECTION of every single dish. We ordered the tasting menu paired with wine. An absolute MUST. THE WINE WAS INCREDIBLE. And each course was executed with EXPERT PRECISION. I have to say it was truly the greatest meal of my life. An awe inspiring experience that will bring me back to Montreal every single year of my life, so long as Damas is in business.

Amazing Arabic style food restaurant. Went here as a group with 10 other people and had a set menu of different foods. I lost count at 12 courses.the food we ate was by far one of the best Arabic inspired meals I’ve ever had. The pictures don’t even do it justice. It was a bit pricy but well worth the quality and portions. I was uncomfortably full by the end of it. The staff was very knowledgeable and explained every single dish in detail. Bring a date or go as a group and order multiple dishes and you will not be disappointed.

I almost never write reviews, but if anywhere deserves one it would be Damas. My friend and I are both culinary students from New York here on vacation and we were absolutely blown away by the vibe, lighting, chairs, plates, service, food, and wine. I never had an empty glass or dish on my table our server Alex was incredibly personable, attentive, and knowledgable about the food and wine. Not only do I recommend Damas with my highest regards, but I would personally consider the six hour drive back to Montreal just to experience it again.

The food and service was so good, I'd give it 6 stars if I could. The food. The food! It was so delicious I felt unworthy of eating it. We had the fattouch, mouhammara, a lamb shoulder dish with yogurt in it, and finished off with a kanafeh. Thanks to our (very handsome) waiter who made excellent suggestions and showed us a great meal! 10/10 will be back.

La nourriture est excellente, les cocktails aussi. Très beau décor.
Par contre le service était juste horrible dès le début du repas une serveuse nous a marché sur les pieds parce qu’elle rigolait avec un autre serveur et ne regardait pas où elle allait. Plus tard dans la soirée elle est venue débarrasser nos verres de cocktails et a renversé ce qui restait dans un verre sur le pied à mon fiancé. Notre serveur se comportait plus comme un vendeur de voitures qu’un serveur soucieux de nous faire découvrir de bonnes choses. Au total on s’est fait servir par au moins 6 personnes et si on voulait commander quelque chose tout le monde nous disait faut demander à l’autre (le vendeur de voiture) sauf qu’il ne venait jamais nous voir parce qu’il passait 20 minutes à chaque table à vendre des choses.bref si vous voulez passer une soirée tranquille autour d’un bon repas ce n’est pas la bonne place où aller si vous voulez découvrir la cuisine syrienne c’est définitivement la meilleure place à Montréal.

The food is phenomenal! I try to go to Damas whenever I'm in Montreal, and recommend it to all my friends. It's always a hit, consistently delicious! My favorites are Fattouch, Mouhammara, Fattet Makdous, and the list goes on.

Amazing. Took the tasting menu and let the sommelier pair the dishes, loved his work. Thank you for the pairings! Best fatouche ive ever had too. Everything was on point perfect.

Damas was a very nice experience. Weather permits, sit at the terrace. It's very pleasant as it is on the side street so very quiet and private. The food was extremely fresh and the quality of the ingredients high. The grilled octopus salad is a must, the beef kabab (10oz.) was super tender and perfectly cooked. My wife had the Fattet Makdous which was good but hearty, it is more like a side dish to be shared. There is plenty of young and smiling staff so the service was second to none.
Highly recommend, would definitely go back.

The knafe dessert is what sets this jewel apart from the others. I ought to know. All dishes are exquisitely prepared and the service is second to none.
My experience is an invitation to all to try this middle eastern eatery at a 5 star level. You will not be disappointed.and will dream of the return date.

OMG. Best food in the world. One of the rare place where you'll pay a lot of money for your meal and come out fully satisfied. It's not a restaurant, it's an experience.

WOW WOW WOW, I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants a new and exciting dining experience. The food is a gastronomical wonder, the service is phenomenal and the ambiance is perfect. I suggest going with the tasting menu for those that have never been. It's a tad pricey but worth every penny as it allows you to try such a wonderful variety of different dishes. Simply amazing!

It's more ambiance and presentation than food. The food isn't creative and overall quite basic. I would like to see some more creative menu options for the kind of ambiance and pricing.
