We ordered paneer and samosa, I see this restaurant as overpriced with respect to there food quality, quantity and service. Avoid this restaurant, you will get better than this.
We got only 4 paneer in the curry.

Not only the best Indian restaurant in Montreal, probably some of must delicious food I've ever eaten

This restaurant was the worst experience we had in Montreal. The food was so spicy even when we told we need mild. In the name of Malai kofta they served onion pakora in gravy. It's so expensive but not worth it. We would love to pay the higher price if the food was worth.

The wait time is crazy. Quality and Quantity needs lot of improvement. Among other items nihari was top of the list of disappointing experience we had with the food. Service is pathetic and staff is highly unprofessional.

I like the ambience of the restaurant. The place is nice and cozy, staff is polite and professional. The food was amazing. We ordered vegetarian thali and Shahi paneer.
Everything was delicious, however, Cheese garlic Naan and Samosas were best amongst all.
Thank you for such an amazing Indian food in the town.

I came here to celebrate a birthday. I was really looking forward to it based on the reviews I read. Everything hit the mark. Food was delicious and service was very friendly. They were even nice enough to offer a free dessert for the birthday boy. Between the three of us, we had the vegetable and non vegetable thali as well as chicken madras. We also had the samosa entree and the Dahl soup. All of us were impressed with everything we ate (and drank). Finally, everything about the experience felt authentic. Highly recommend. Nice owners too.

The food was pathetic, especially the Mango Lassi was smelling horrendous. I have first ordered the lassi and because of the smell my appetite just died. I would never go there again.

This is an unbelievably costly place, we bought Pulav for take out and they gave us a small container of rice (picture attached). This was sold at 12$ + tax! Even many famous restaurants dont sell rice or pulav of so small quantity at such costs.
Avoid this place unless you have money to waste.

We had an excellent experience dining at Darbar. The food was amazing (particularly the dal fry and biryani) and the ambience was perfect for a date night. We really appreciated the restaurant owner talking to us about the menu and checking in with us during dinner. As they make everything from scratch, it is a great place for people with dietary restrictions. One of the best Indian restaurants we have ever been to, we would not hesitate to go again next time we’re in Montreal!

Dîner d'anniversaire entre amis, groupe de 4 et nous sommes absolument ravis de tous les aspects du dîner. Le propriétaire et chef est venu plusieurs fois pour s'assurer que tout était parfait. Nous sommes habitués à la cuisine indienne mais chez Darbar, nous avons trouvé la cuisine raffinée avec un goût plus délicat et des parfums différents pour chaque plats! Nous avons adoré le recommandons.

Petit restaurant exceptionnel. Sans prétention, l'ambiance est très agréable et la nourriture est vraiment délicieuse. Les meilleurs samosas que j'ai mangé au Québec. Le poulet tandoori était yum! Et mention spéciale pour les chutney qui accompagnent les entrées. Ils sont authentiques et savoureux. Une petite entreprise familiale qui mérite vraiment d'être encouragée. Worst Indian food, the quantity of the food is very less compared to the amount of money they charge for it. Ordered two completely different dishes (shrimp korma and chicken tikka masala) but they both tasted just the same, guess their chef is lazy? Very disappointed with the ambiance as well and negative star for the hygiene, they literally made us sit in front of the washroom. This place needs a lot of renovation and change.

Worst possible experience ever. They will make you wait for 1 hour and then get you seated in front of toilet. Rude, arrogant attitude.

These folks have mastered the art of making you feel welcomed, to a level where the meal itself becomes a beautiful bonus. After greeting us at our table, the chef engaged with us and after several questions, suggested a couple of options that might suit our tastes. What followed was a pure delight of a meal and frankly, the best restaurant Indian meal I've ever had. They set the bar very high for themselves and we will definitely if they can do it again during our next visit to Montreal!

This is really a real Darbar. The name of the restaurant goes with the food and service they give. Enjoyed every bite of authentic punjabi food with taste of great spices. Malai Kofta and Paneer was one of the best dishes I ever had. Must recommended. The service and servers were very helpful in guiding you with the order. Giving 4 star as the cocktail I ordered was not that great. Considering food taste and quality I’ll definitely visit again. Must try!

Welp after reading so many rude reviews, it makes me very angry at some of the reviewers. If you think Indian food “should be” cheap and of huge quantity, why do you think it is worth it when you pay for 150$ for sushi omakase, which is basically fish on top of rice, and the portion is also very small?

For the many times I’ve visited this place, I have never been disappointed, and I ordered a different type of curry every time I go. You can clearly feel the thoughts and intentions of the chief brought to the dish, it’s definitely a very interesting place to experience and to think about what is Indian food, and what is food really.

Overpriced with hidden fees you'll pay twice as much as you think you'll pay and the amount they give you is so small that you'll still be hungry by the end of the meal.

Absolutely delicious. My daughter and I both agreed it was the best meal we’d had in ages. The malai kofta and the palak paneer were both so flavourful and perfectly spiced. The garlic naan was ridiculously good. We would come back to Montreal just for this restaurant alone.

I regularly order the Saag Paneer and Bangin Bharta as my vegetarian choices. Murgh Tandoori and Madrasi Bakra are so packed with flavor. If you're sensitive to spicy food then my recommendations might not be for you.

Pricey and they even increased their prices recently but it's still worth it.
I've been eating from here for several years and it's always been consistently great. I've never regretting spending my money here and that is a true rarity these days in the current Montreal restaurant scene.

Ordered chicken krahi and naans, The naans are cold and chicken krahi is like three pieces of chicken floating in water with some veggies. Not like it at all.worst Experience.

I lack the words to truly capture how phenomenal the food here is. Every dish had a wonderful mix of flavors – sweet mixed with spice, mixed with heat – your taste buds won't believe what's happening. An incredible amount of attention and detail has gone into each dish, and the owner (Simar) coming to each table to serve and explain each one himself. Don't even get me started on the mixed drinks and tea options! Definitely recommend everyone to come here. You won't be disappointed.

I have never had food in an Indian restaurant where at the end of the dinner my plate was clean because I left nothing in the plate. Delicious food and perfect portions. Don't miss the garlic butter naan. Their thali is perfectly sized for one person and is well balanced. Loved it.

We ordered 5 different items. None of them was in accurate quantity.

The Karahi Chicken which was supposed to be spicy but it was very sweet and there was almost no chicken in it.

The good was undercooked.

When we complaint to the restaurant, the owner was really rude and aggressive on us.

Had the most delicious Indian food here! A friend had recommended coming here and I am so glad we did. Ordered the Dal Makhni, Bharta & Gobi Alu along with the Onion Bhaji and every dish was amazing! The tandoori roti was to die for! Everything was Freshly prepared, hot and so tasteful! Also tried the Rasmalai for dessert - so finger lickin good! Truly among the best in Montreal! If you are looking for North Indian food this is the place to go.

The service was good but the quantity of food was really less. At best one gravy preparation is good for one adult. The food was above average. For the price we did not find it a worthy option.
Hopefully there are better Indian restaurants around the area.

If I can give 6 stars, I would! It's been over a month since we visited this place and It would be unfair for me not to leave a review for this family owned restaurant (hidden gem). The service and the food we received was way too expectional!
After a long day of walking in downtown with my parents and a toddler. We are able to book last min.reservation. Their staff espeically the owner's son was extremely friendly, had great recommendations as per everyones liking, service was quick and the food was made with ️ (so delicious) #Mustvisit if you get a chance.

Taste, Ambience, Hospitality, Quality all gets 5 star. Friendly atmosphere. Quick service. Mango lassi is to die for. Our server Henry is a gem of a person. This place will always be on the list when i am visiting Montreal again. Kudos.

I never seen this kind of service at any restaurant in my whole life. Uncle and aunty are very familiar and they have very nice nature they treat us just like a family. Moreover, i don’t know about her who is working there she is very kind hearted, excellent way of communicating, nicely nature and I appreciate her with all of good praising words. Whoever will be her partner gonna be the luckiest person in the world. ️ whenever i will the visit the Montreal, definitely i will visit there. I wrote this comment from my precious time its mean i really like them.

I had a lamb biryani. It was really good, i found the price was bit higher than it is to be, apart from it I realy like the taste.

Was there a couple of days ago with my husband. Good tasting authentic food! We ordered samosas, Chole Bhatura and Gulab Jamun. Samosas and Chole Bhatura were really good. Gulab Jamun was slightly disappointing, but overall a good restaurant. Highly recommend this place.

The tandoori shrimp was really wonderful, as was the shrimp madras. It was a big day for shrimp! Great service. Great ambiance. I recommend this place very highly.

Very poor customer service. It felt like that the restaurant team was doing a favour by serving us food.

It was snowy and windy during our short visit to Montreal so having dinner at the closest restaurant to our hotel was our first option. Fortunately that led us to Darbar, which was just around the block!

The service and food were excellent and the place had a very cozy feel. Chatting with the owners revealed that they had a restaurant in Oakland for a decade before returning to native Montreal. (Coincidentally both restaurants were in/near Chinatown.)

We returned the following night for dinner and will come by again the next time we are in Montreal. You should too!

Best indian food Ive ever had outside of India, instantly reminded me of India. We got it "Indian spicy". The chef came to our table to greet us after we had finished his amazing food! Thank you for the hospitality.

I had a craving to have choley bhature today. I had a very bad experience with a very high rated restaurants (Bombay Mahal) before with choley bhaturey, instead of Bhaturey they sent naan. So I decided to call the restaurant and confirm that they make real bhaturey. The lady on the phone responded “yes”. I placed the order with a lot of expectations, but again disappointed. The Bhaturey were like a thick fried naan and choley were spicy but sweetish. Very disappointed!

Good place to dine. I really liked the environment they have created. It gives a small picture of India. I have ordered non-veg Thali and it was very tasty and filling. Their service was really good. I will definitely visit again.

This place is awesome. I had a platter of two types of curry, nan a and these fried chick pea flour onion things that were out of this world. Also, super reasonably priced and friend and no wait. Service was great, wish I lived in Montreal so I could frequent this place more often.

Was there last week. Best food yet in Canada. True North Indian taste and hospitality. We came from Toronto and was a pleasant surprise to see such a nice restaurant. This week we went to place called Asha Indian Restaurant and that was extremely bad.

One of the best Indian restaurant in the heart of Downtown Montréal. Perfect place to take your partner for candle light dinners as they have a great ambience with subdued lighting. Needless to mention, the food quality is amazing and the staff is kind and well-behaved. However, bit expensive but a must try for the people who love to eat Indian cuisine.

Wonderful place! I haven't been to India, so I don't know what authentic is, but I think this is pretty close! Awesome food! They have options to sit on the floor or at tables. I highly recommend!
