Amazing restaurant - delicious food, great service, honestly nothing to complain about. I recommend the fried banana if you like sweet things, surprisingly delicious! It's BYOB and cash only

The reason I took off one star for service is just because it gets very packed in there so there is sometimes a wait to put in your order - I would also recommend you make a reservation or call ahead to see when they'll have place for you.

Excellent repas. J’ai adoré le poulet Général Tao ainsi que le bœuf à l’orange. Un seul défaut, c’est qu’il faut payer comptant.

I really like their Won Ton soup. The broth is darker, not clear, like the broth in Vietnamese soups, very tasty. I also usually order the beef and spinach soup: tasty and healthy.

I had the hot and sour soup and the Singapore noodles. And while the soup was very different from what I expect a hot and sour soup to be, it was very good. And the noodles were also great. The waitress was very nice.

Très bon restaurant, allez y les yeux fermés. La soupe wonton est incroyable. Le personnel est très polie et sympathique. Tout est parfait.

Went there guided by relatively decent reviews, but left the place disappointed. Starters were OK, but main dishes, supposedly beef, were horrible. It neither looked nor tasted beef. It turned out we couldn't pay with card, so I had to find an ATM. Further down the road, the place didn't have a licence to sell alcohol, so I had to go find a convenience store, which was a bizarre experience on its own - but it's a separate story. In all fairness, they at least allowed us to bring our own booze. Finally, when it came to place the order, we had to write it ourselves on a piece of paper. It would't be that bad, but we found out after having the meal, they added 15% service charge on top of the bill.
15% service charge? ! For what? ! For running around in the rain, looking for a cash machine and booze, for writing my own order, which by the way I had to do twice, as on my first attempt we'd been told some items were unavailable.

I absolutely love Deer Garden! The ambiance was perfect, I had ordered the (product) and it was absolutely delicious! Drinks were amazing too, I highly recommend the Orange Crash. I cannot waitto come back here!

As a Chinese, I find their Sam See fried noodles very confusing… *dried* deep fried crispy noodles? Seriously? This seems more of a snack rather than a dish. Can’t believe I paid $14 for it

J'y vais depuis 30 ans, les plats n'ont pas changé depuis. La soupe Won ton, un classique le bouillon toujours aussi bon. Riz frit un classique nouilles frite au poulet et légumes parfait. Ajouter un petit général tao et hop vous avez un bon repas en famille.

Cash only. Been here several times and everything was spot on. General Tao chicken was good too

Le riz au canard: plein d'os, plein de carottes et de brocolis avec une sauce-eau brune sans goût que je n'avais pas demandé et pas assez de riz.

Food is top-notch, service is outstanding. The view is amazing.

Toujours délicieux, heureuse d'y être retourner après 2 ans sa fait près de 35 ans que je vais à ce restaurant, c'est le réconfort que j'y trouve. J'y ai amené ma fille, maintenant j'amène mon petit fils. ️

Si vous y allez, prenez la soupe won-ton, c'est la meilleure que j'ai mangé dans ma vie. Voici d'autres plats que je suggère: Le sam see au porc, les crevettes aigre-douce et le pad thai au poulet. L'endroit est propre et le service est agréable.

I've been going there since i was 6.it is still the best chinese food i've ever had and soon i'll be able to bring my kid there as well. The pricing is just amazing and generous portions. Like it's super big and affordable! I really hope people can give this wonderful place a chance. The staff are so sweet and no they don't take cards, but they accept interac transferts! I adore this place and will continue to go until i leave this planet.

Honnêtement de loin le pire restaurant chinois où j'ai commandé de ma vie. Moi et mon chum avons pris chacun une soupe aigre piquante qui était très sucrée et ne goûtait pas dutout la soupe aigre-piquante traditionnelle, elle tombait sur le coeur. Nous avions aussi pris un pad thaï au crevettes qui sentait très mauvais, les crevettes n'étaient pas fraîches et nous avons tous les deux eu une indigestion après notre repas. Nous avions également bien spécifié que nous ne voulions pas de viande et nous avons retrouvé plein de morceaux de poulet dans la soupe aigre-piquante ET le pad thaï. Bref, je ne souhaiterait pas ce repas à mon pire ennemi, n'y allez jamais!

I've been going to Deer Garden for over 15 years. Fast. Hot. Delicious. The staff is just lovely, they remember you and your favorite dishes. BYOB setup, as Montrealers are known to love.

This place cooks in home-cooked style Chinese and Americanized Chinese food with a few other Asian dishes (they make a mean pad thai, for example, or Singapore style noodles).

I now live overseas and this is the first place I want to eat at when I get back home

General Tao Chicken was so fatty/chewy it was nearly inedible. Actually we threw it in the trash. The hot and sour soup was tasty and service was friendly. Guess if you order the right things this would be a good place

We had a late dinner and it was excellent. It was fast, hot, with great portions and price. Great 'home cooked' Chinese food that felt wholesome and authentic. They are friendly and inviting.

Tout est délicieux, frais et servi très chaud! Très abordable. Plus tranquille en soirée semaine et fds qu'au midi en semaine!

Very disappointing. Very bland. Rice with very little protein. Wontons were the size of my fingertips. Aroma was very unappetizing. Just glad I didn’t take our whole group there.

Ça doit faire dix ans que je vais là. Jamais déçue. Les plats sont délicieux et le service est courtois et rapide. Je recommande le poulet au gingembre et le boeuf épicé. C’est un apportez votre vin en plus!

Vraiment un des meilleurs resto chinois en ville et goûtez à leur soupe Tom Yum! Poulet au gingembre et échalote aussi succulent! J'y vais depuis plus de 20 ans! Un incontournable!

bon peut être pas tout les plats il ya tellement de choix que vous aller trouver vos plats préférer les miens sont nouilles Singapour poulet aux gingembre homard aux gingembre soupe wonton porc et crevette nouilles croustillant aux légumes ect.

Vraiment déçu! Soupe aux fruits de mer = aucun gout, fruits de mer congelés. Poulet sauté à la thai = la sauce a bon gout, mais le poulet et mal cuit. Ma commande arrivé, soupe a moitié renversé dans mon plat, donc inmangeable. Plus jamais commande ici.

La femme qui m’a répondu sur place était très accueillante, sympathique et à l’écoute.

Sincèrement le pire plat de riz frit aux crevettes que j'ai mangé depuis ma naissance.

Ça goûtait le fond de casserole et les crevettes étaient si minuscules- comparable à ceux que l'on peut trouver dans les sachets de nouilles instantanés.

J'ai mangé 1/4 du plat, car j'avais trop faim et à contrecoeur, j'ai dû jeter le 3/4 car ce n'était pas du tout appétissant.

I found this place 20 years ago, when i was working near the restaurant, Great food, excellent service, i have tried A LOT of other restaurants but they can never surpas the taste of the food in Dear Garden. If i receive friends from outside Montreal i bring them there. The place is always clean and the service has never changed!

I got stir fried chicken with vegetables (extra veggies) on a bed of rice. The portion size is good. The veggies are okay, but the chicken is dry. A fulfilling meal for sure.

Bonne accueil, service rapide, propre. Au niveau du repas m'a conjointe avait commandé un poulet aux citrons qui n'était aucunement aromatisé au citron et était nappé d'une sauce style V-H vraiment trop sucré, de plus le poulet était recouvert d'une épaisse panure qui masquait la saveur du poulet. Le restaurant en question n'accepte seulement que l'argent liquide, et ne m'a aucunement remise m'a facture lors du paiement de mon addition?

We ordered the pork dumplings with peanut sauce, general Tao's chicken with stir-fried Chinese vegetables and pad Thai. All was very tasty and satisfying. We will definitely order from here again!

For someone who've been there for decades, I can clearly say that its a very good restaurant.
The food's quality is very good, although quantities are to watch, for they shrunk over the years.
Overall a good restaurant. If you're looking for a delicious stop, Deer Garden wont disappoint.

L'équipe est très sympathique. Ce n'est pas cher, mais trop cher pour ce qui est servi malheureusement.
Nous avons commandé 4 choses différentes, le constat fut le même pour chaque plat: entrées molles décongelées, bouillons sans aucun goût et peu garnis.

Nice chinese place. Apportez votre vin. Ils nous servent un thé en arrivant. Vraiment pas déçu. Des bonnes portions!

Service à toute heure, pas cher, en plein centre ville. Pour un prix équivalent à un fast-food, vous serez servi à table.

Un excellant restaurant! Très goûteux, chaud et service rapide. Ont nous sert du thé en arrivant. Leur bouillon a soupe wonton est DEBILLE! J'ai aussi apprécier leur tofu général tao, Je vais y retourner sans ésite

Tellement délicieux et pleins de saveur! Ce n'est pas tout qui est excellent sur le menu mais lorsque tu connais les bons plats à choisir, c'est excellent. Leur français/anglais n'est pas parfait mais si tu passes par dessus ça, ils sont vraiment gentils, très serviables et font leur possible. Je connais des gens qui vont là depuis 15-20 ans et c'est toujours les mêmes saveurs et qualités. C'est un "apporter votre vin" en plus d'êtres très abordable. J'ai eu une belle soirée en groupe.

This place was pretty terrible. Not sure how it got 4 stars. Ordered the Table d'Hote. Wonton soup was lukewarm and not very flavourful. Ordered General Tao's chicken. It was syrupy sweet, not very hot, and not even a hint of any spice. Avoid.

A great little restaurant. Always tasty. I've been coming here for many years and the quality is consistent. A Montreal institution. Good and inexpensive. Portions are a good size.
Bring your own wine/beer.
Unfortunately the lobster is not currently on the menu due to the market price but will return in spring!
Remember to bring cash. Cards are not accepted.

Rare BYOB place in downtown area. Wonton soup is good, remaining foods are a bit better than a food court quality. Cash only place. I would give 3 stars but adding 1 star for BYOB

Correcte.mais pas plus. Pour le même prix tu peux allez au chili sur de la gauchetiere qui est vraiment plis raffiné comme nourriture. Trop salé et peu importe le plat le même goût de fond.

Déçu on m'avais dit que c'étais très bon mais moi manger des lcongellégumesés dans un plat asiatique je trouve ca très ordinaire. De plus les serveurs parlent pas à moitié français difficile de les comprendres

If you can't travel to China, go to Deer Garden! They have THE MOST delicious and AUTHENTIC chinese food you can find in Montreal:) (They've been voted "best wontons in montreal" and I completely agree)

Came around 10 pm, and they Still serve hot freshly made and delicious food. It says a lot of the restaurant. Cash only.

Taste like the fastfood of chinese meal. No matter what description of veggies it has with your plate, either its mixed vegetables, or chinese vegetables, or whatever.be sure it'll only be Bok choy! I know many more restaurants from less than 10 feet away of this one, that are far better in taste, price, and plate size. It was okay!

This is by far one of my family's favorite restaurants in Montreal's Chinatown. The prices are fair, the portions plentiful and it's always fresh, delicious and served very quickly. You can share each plate with your party and that just makes it even better. Long live this place.

The food was delicious and service was fairly quick. This restaurant is cash only, I'm pretty sure. Also, I ordered a dish and it did not come with rice or anything, which was kinda crazy.

Excellente nourriture chinoise et cantonaise. La meilleure soupe won ton de Montréal. Ou plutôt de l'univers. Je vais y revenir c'est certain.

Saviour when you're starving! Walking distance from city center and Chinatown. I tried the Singaporean rice noodles and it wasn't half bad. Service were quick. Just keep in mind you got to have cash in hand because that's the only payment option they accept.
