Don Vegan Restaurant

The toilets are VERY small. BUt that is the only bad thing I can think of.
Food was delicious.
Great options for vegan food.
The beer was cheap.
Grreat staff that was able to speak english for my friends.
The Gnochi* were amazing

This almost hidden, on the corner across from the hotel is a little hipster (on the best sense) gem of a restaurant.
Very cool ambiance, with graffiti walls full of 90’s references, pleasant music and an intimate style of service.
We had the weekend brunch, where the pancakes are delicious. Whole grains batter mixed with bananas. Fresh fruits and a maple syrup sauce that’s insane.
The classic is a scrambled eggs type of mix, with tempeh sausages and home potatoes. Very good.
But the real treat was the hollandaise type sauce that topped the mushroom covered English muffin. On an homage to an “eggs Benedict” vegan style.
I definitely recommend this place. And don’t forget the $2 mimosas that the brunch menu simply demands you drink.

Une expérience végane plutôt agréable, les prix sont raisonnables, les légumes étaient frais et somme toute c'était une belle expérience.

Sincèrement c'est la première fois que je passe par ça.

J'ai trouvé le restaurant charmant. C'est vraiment comme être dans son salon.

J'ai adoré les chaises où on était assis.

Je suis allé explorer. Vu que j'étais curieux.

Je pense que j'aurais bien aimé une assiette dégustation pour résoudre le problème de choisir quel plat manger.

J'aime bien la Pina Colada. Alors j'ai commandé La Pina. Finalement ça n'avait absolument rien à voir. Je ne sait pas exactement qu'est-ce qui s'est passé.

C'était pas agréable. Mais je l'ai commandé. Alors je l'ai bu quand même.

La serveuse m'a recommandé les Donplings. C'était vraiment incroyable.

Ensuite j'étais curieux de savoir comment était le impossible burger. Je pense que tout était parfait moins la boulette. C'est comme si je mangeait de la mente. Sauf qu'à chaque bouchée. L'effet était de plus en plus fort.

Comme un peu avec le curi. Juste comme exemple.

Alors j'ai dû arrêter.

C'est sûr que je pensais à comment c'était quand je mangeait un vrai hamburger. J'aurais aimé avoir une saveur la plus proche possible.

Mais je n'y connais rien du tout de Vegan. Alors je n'ai aucune idée si c'est possible ou non.

J'ai aimé l'expérience. Mais malheureusement je ne suis capable de laisser tomber la viande.

J'ai mangé un repas léger. Ça doit être plein de vitamines, minéraux. C'est évident que c'est bon pour la santé.

Mais c'est pas pour moi.

Une chose que je ne comprends pas c'est pourquoi il n'y a pas de hummus, de noix dans les menus?

J'ai trouvé que c'était exagéré comme prix. J'ai fait un saut quand je suis arrivé à la caisse.

Je suis sorti du restaurant et j'avais encore faim. Probablement parce qu'il n'y avait aucune viande.

Je pense que ça vaut la peine de faire une réservation. Si vous aimez ça explorer et essayer de nouvelles choses.

Great mocktail. The food was delicious, but besides the presentation felt like something I could make at home. Excellent service and I'd go again if visiting and wanting a healthier meal.

1ere visite, mangé antipasto à deux, très bon mais la quantité de chou-fleur panko trop élevée par rapport aux autres bouchées. Le serveur très gentil mais débordé, j aurais pris un verre de vin et autre plat mais on n a jamais demandé si je voulais autre chose. Pour avoir la facture cela pris au moins 30 minutes

Nice restaurant with delicious food (even without any meat). I had the Pad Thai with crispy tofu, very good, even the tofu had a nice bite and taste.

Drinks with jalapenos Juice were great. A little bite to the drink but very nice.

The restaurant is small but comfortable. It is located in lower Quebec, near the old port (bassin Louise). Or close to the Civilization Museum. It is located in a strange intersection with a cool water fountain.

Parking is a hassle, there are a couple of parking lots near the restaurant, you can use street parking meters. The Quebec City Copilot app makes paying for parking spots in the street very easy. Otherwise you will need to go to a payment station.

All in all it was a great food discovery in a beautiful area of old Quebec.

Stopped here for lunch while visiting our son on the New Years weekend. Awesome food and very friendly staff. We will definitely come back on our next visit to Quebec City.

Delicious! Try the Panko cauliflower, the ‘beef’ tartare, the butternut squash risotto and the poor man’s pudding.
Super yummy vegan food and fanatic service!

Don Vegan offers a nice space with modern flair and fun twists on Asian and Italian food. We ordered the DONplings and definitely recommend them. Meals we ate were Carbonara and Ravioli (by a different name - cashew stuffed pasta) The food presentation is great. What look like olives atop the pasta is actually vegan bacon. The ravioli was good but too heavy on the nutritional yeast. The La Donna drink I had was tasty! Prices seemed high to us - so we skipped desert. The graffiti on the menu is actually artwork on one entire wall making the old lower town building feel fresh and revived.

C'est une expérience culinaire difficile à juger puisque tellement différente de la cuisine traditionnelle. Tartare de betterave intéressant.
Pâtes carbonada assez lourdes et je rejoints d'autres commentaires concernant la salade posée dessus qui mériterait d'être séparée car chaud ce n'est vraiment pas bon.
Je mets une note moyenne surtout pour la réservation avec empreinte de carte bancaire, du jamais vu, surtout pour un restaurant milieu de gamme. Le service était correct, cependant, me sortir mon couteau sale de mon assiette pour me le poser sur ma serviette propre n'était pas très raffiné.
Enfin, la soufflerie froide venant du plafond n'était pas agréable.

Très bon restaurant vegan. Carte de choix, ambiance feutrée et sympathique. Plats de qualité et personnel très sympathique.

Went here with a vegan friend. Food was ok, nothing standing out much. I was surprised with the dessert (poudding chomeur) which was very good.

Best restaurant in Quebec City! Even if your not vegan. I come here at least twice every time I’m in town.

The food was amazing and despite being packed, the service was quick. We walked in at 1pm and the restaurant was empty, but within thirty minutes, every table was filled. There was only one server who was also acting as the host and bartender and while he still tended to every table efficiently, I can’t believe he managed to serve all twelve tables in the restaurant by himself.

The only reason I’m giving them 4/5 stars is because we actually called two days before to make a reservation for dinner the next night. My brother called the number listed on Google for Don Vegan (we all watched him do this), made a reservation for the next evening, and even gave his cc number to confirm the reservation. But when we showed up the next evening for our reservation, they had no record of us in the books… and then we overheard the party behind us have the EXACT same thing happen to them. My brother’s card was never charged, but obviously something went wrong with their reservations system or just with whomever they had answering the phone when we called.

But either way, the food was delicious and all vegan! And there were some great gluten free options, too. It’s hard to travel with dietary restrictions so this was a pleasant surprise. Thoroughly enjoyed eating there!

FANTASTIC FOOD, wonderful service. My father in law, who is not vegan ordered the thai soup and said "this is the best soup I've ever had. " My husband and I, who are Vegan and travel / visit as many vegan restaurants as we can when we're away thought this was the best restaurant we've tried!

Très belle adresse pour les végétaliens et les amateurs de bonne cuisine végétale. Les portions sont généreuses. Qualité des produits excellente! Je recommande Service impeccable!

Super resto. Un petit peu dispendieux mais ça en vaut la peine pour les pâtes! La qualité est là.

Nice restaurant to sit down, good service. Food quality did not meet expectations, beet tartare was good, mushroom risotto was full of vinegar for some reason and hot chocolate tasted nothing like hot chocolate. Maybe other dishes are prepared better.

Magnifique restaurant, la nourritue y est succulente, très bien balancé au niveau des saveurs un gros bravo à l'équipe! Si vous êtes sceptique face au vegan essayez le ici vous verrez que ça peut être goûteux et gourmand! Petite critique positive d'une pâtissière ; j'ai essayé le dessert sans gluten style cheesecake, ajoutez une pincé de fleur de sel dans la croûte ce fera toute la différence! Félicitation, j'y retournerai certainement!

All is vegan and we ate starters and main dishes and all was really well presented and very good!

Nourriture dégueulasse, j'avais commandé le spaghetti carbonada. Quelle ne fut pas ma surprise de voir un plat de pâtes avec de la salade ''césar'' sur le dessus! Ce n'était pas écrit sur le menu. De la laitue chaude mélangée a de la sauce blanche insipide
très cher en plus

Accueil très ordinaire malgré une réservation fait plusieurs jours à l'avance. Nous avons pris 4 plats. Un mauvais, un fade, un très bon et un ordinaire. Pas de service. Alcool très dispendieux pour 3 gorgés. Pas de retour sur une demande de menu pour commander un nouveau plat. Expérience bien ordinaire. Je ne recommande pas et je ne retournerai pas.

This place exceeded our expectations! The food was delicious and the service was noticeably excellent. Would definitely recommend. And make sure to try the Poor Man's Pudding!

Amazing food and great service! My boyfriend and I just visited Québec for my birthday and we ate here 3 times in just a lapse of a couple of days. We first ate there for brunch and it did not disappoint! I had an apple cider mimosa with a cinnamon sugar rim (which I look forward to recreating at home) and the Donédictine (their version of eggs Benedict) *chef’s kiss* …. As for dinner we had the Fettuccine aux champignons, the Agnolotti, the Bolognese and Antipasto. The Fettuccine was definitely my favorite! But you can’t go wrong here, everything on their menu is absolutely delicious! If you are curious about dessert, we shared the Poor man’s pudding and Hazelnut chocolate cake. It was so good that I was tempted to order another round just for myself!

So if you have the opportunity to go here, do it! You’ll be glad you did.

*** also wanted to thank our server who squeezed us in on my birthday, (our last night) despite having a full house and no reservation. His service was impeccable, you’d never had thought he worked the tables alone that night. So grateful! And cannot wait to find ourselves back in Québec to visit Don Vegan again!
