DoubleTree by Hilton Montreal

The hotel, situated on the 6th floor of a shopping mall, posed a challenge to find due to its inconspicuous entrance. The city's expansive layout gave a suburban vibe even in the city center, making it less suitable for tourists. However, the staff were exceptionally friendly, and the rooms were both clean and spacious.

N'oubliez pas d'appuyer sur le bouton Power du thermostat, sinon aucune ventilation et ça devient insupportable (chaud et sec).

Great location right above from the Desjardins complex mall. They hand you some free warm walnut, chocolate chip cookies during check in (please insure you don’t have any allergies before taking & eating them). The rooms are big & start on the 9th floor, with the lobby located on the 6th floor & the entrance to the elevator to the lobby located on the 3rd floor of the Desjardins complex).

Receptionist: are mediocre (I requested for an accessible room when booking the room & received a message the following day that they will try their best to honor it, but when I asked during check in they informed me that it’s not possible with the room I booked (2 queen beds). That was very confusing as I was not informed about it when I out in the request & they never shared that information with me until I asked at check in, as I could have looked for other options before arriving). They also handed some warm cookies, but never asked if we were allergic to nuts, as the cookies contained walnuts, we are not, but just imagine what could have possibly happened if it was handed over to someone that was allergic (I just find the communication lacking, especially when it comes to food allergies).
I also asked about a late checkout during the check in as my return train was in the afternoon & they told me I would have to ask the day before checkout. The day before I checkout, I go to the front desk to inquire about a late checkout for the next day, to be informed by another staff that I will have to inquire about it the MORNING OF checkout. NOTE: I send in a message to inquire about the late checkout & got a confirmation that late checkouts here have to be requested on the morning of checkout! So there is no need to request early.

Housekeeping: mediocre, there was dust on the clock, the shelve & coffee mat. The time on the clocks (bedside & mirror in the bathroom) was not up to date (still had the daylight saving time that occurred 2+ weeks ago), there are no cups in the bathroom for mouth rinse & in a 2 queen size bedroom that sleeps up to 4, there were only 2 paper coffee cups available.

Accessibility: there are ramps everywhere, but lots of time it’s a longer pathway. It’s hard to say which door is the main entrance, but the one that heads to the street & the mall are closed at night and you have to walk into the parking lot/driveway to the door with a the bellhop to enter if you arrive late at night. It also requires a minimum of 2 elevator rides to get to your room (one on the 3rd floor of the complex to the lobby (located on the 6th floor) & then with your room card tap on the next elevator to get to your room).

Cleanest: terrible, rooms are dusty, there was a leftover coffee pod from the previous guest in the machine. The hallways have garbage, dirty cups or plates just laying around on the floor.

Room: big spacious room, but there is only a small gap between the bed & the coffee machine, safe & mini cooler, which makes it hard to access. Heater can get a little noisy if you turn the fan to high. The room is not soundproof. You can hear the TV outside the room in the hallway & you can also hear the conversations made in the hallway (if you are unlucky, some guest get back very late & chat in the hallway, which can get very loud & disturbing if you are a light sleeper. One night a staff with a radio pager was in front of our room past 11pm and you can hear all of it). You can also hear the housekeepers vacuuming the rooms beside, so if you sleep in late, it can get pretty noisy.

For starters we arrive at the hotel for exactly 4pm witch is our check in time. The front desk says our room isn’t ready and won’t be ready for another 45 minutes. In the mean time we decided to hit the gym up for a workout after sitting in a car all day. They decided not to mention the hotel gym is closed for renovations. What a disappointment

Excellent hotel located right between 2 metro stations in Downtown Montreal. Extremely convenient location essentially as part of a mall complex.

Staff were helpful and the room was fairly recently updated and clean. Lighting isn't great so room felt a little dark. Comfy beds. Would definitely recommend this place.

Hotel is fine. Comfortable enough. The location is great and staff pretty good. What left a terrible taste in my mouth was being charged a $50 fee for arriving a few hours early for check in. I’ve never had this before - like the room is there, it’s free, and because we are a few hours early, you charge us a fee. Feels really gross and won’t stay there again because of it.

We weren't given the room we paid for when checking in. Brought it to the attention of the front desk the following morning to be told rudely by the front desk personnel "why you wait until the following morning? " We were told to pack our bags. We waited for several hours before we were able to get another room. It was very inconvenient to get to the elevator since the room was on the opposite side. It wasn't a pleasant experience at Doubletree by Hilton Montreal. We were very disappointed and would definitely not recommend staying there.

Nice business hotel close to Montreal town centre. The rooms are large, with functional showers and usb ports to charge your phone even when you don't have adaptors. There were also complimentary water and coffe. The elevators are pretty slow and you have to take two different ones to leave the building, one which takes you to reception and one which takes you outside. This is typically the case to access most facilities. Breakfast runs from 6.30 to 10.30, but selection is pretty limited and I had better breakfasts in the past. Food quality is acceptable, but definitely not excellent.

Never been in a hotel where the front desk doesn't answer. F1 is a busy time but staffing wasn't adjusted accordingly.

Ne postuler surtout pas à cet endroit! J’ai travaillé là pendant 1 mois et je n’ai vue que du dégoût. Premièrement, là superviseur est raciste et engage que les blancs. Deuxièmement, les employés font mal le nettoyage des chambres et même que certains employés volent dans les chambres. L’esprit d’équipe est négative et en plus ils vous renvoient sans raison avec des mensonges fondés de toute pièce.

Great location. Rooms are nicely appointed. Have not been able to get reception or room service to answer phone in over 48 hours. Made multiple requests for 1 extra towel and an extra pillow.didnt receive either. The service when you speak with staff face to face is fine. A little pricy but location might be the best in the city

We booked for 2 nights, on our second day our room was not cleaned, we called reception and they told us they will not have room service as they have not enough staff to do it? ! UNBELIEVABLE!
Our number of beds were also reduced, we booked for 2 queens and they gave us one king and sofa bed.
Then our keys didn’t work, the receptionist said “it’s our problem” as we put it too close to our phone. Very rude staff

Edit: We reached out directly to the Hilton rep who was responding to these comments and had a very positive experience. They apologized profusely and did in the end work with us to find a reasonable solution. Our kids were stilll disappointed in all the missed swimming opportunities but I've amended our rating to reflect.

Worst experience I've ever had at a hotel.

1) The pool. It's actually a great pool. But it's NEVER open. This isn't a COVID thing either they just only seem to have one life guard and when they take a break or lunch or (as happened ALL three days we were there) just doesn't show up, the pool is closed. It has been closed for all but 6 hours of the 3 days we have been here so far. The worst is you call down to ask if it's open and they say yes, them you get there and it's not!

2) front desk staff, family after family show up at the desk saying we only booked the hotel for the pool and they say sorry and turn them away. No offer of a rebate or anything. The best we got after they sent us to their sister hotels pool (which was also closed!) Was a free pay per view movie that they called a "Movie Night".

3) extremely not soundproof doors. I've never called security at a hotel before and I had two do it on two nights here, once for a rowdy party and once for a room with a whimpering dog.

4) they clean the rooms at random, they knocked yesterday when we were in the room and we said it was fine but today they didn't come by at all.

5) no glasses. I understand with COVID a lot of hotels only do paper cups but they gave us 1. Literally 1 paper cup for a 4 day stay for a family of 4.6) pillows, each bed has 3 scrawny non stuffed pillows. I've never not had 4 on a bed but these are also awful.

7) the elevators, there was a conference in the hotel while we were here and at one point the line for the elevators was about 80 people long and tool over half an hour.

Room was clean, quiet, and well provisioned. Parking is VERY confusing, especially when there is additional street traffic. A heads up with directions would have been nice. Some reviews mentioned long check ins and that was our experience. We left and came back 3 times before deciding to wait 40+ min in line. We will probably be looking at other places to stay next time we are in Montreal

We didn’t stay at this hotel due to a death within our circle and we all had to cancel hours before checkin time. Total 2-3 rooms. At first the booking agency wouldn’t give us a refund without proof, but upon emailing Ms Katy, director of operations, she granted us a full refund, each and every last penny - without proof.

For that we are grateful to her, and the team at this hotel. And we will stay at this hotel on our future trip to Montreal.

Good not great, check in is at 4pm but my reservation wasnt ready until 5: 30pm which was a little stressful.rooms are good.elevator service was pretty horrendous so bring something to fidget with while you wait.

Clean but for the price expected more. Fridge was not cold or working properly. Bathrooms are sliding door. Lack of privacy for a stay in a double queen room. Tried to go for an early morning swim to wake up and was told the pool doesn’t open until 3pm. I did not see this information posted on the website next to the information on the pool or I would not have planned to swim! Why is this?

Above average hotel if you get a good price. The location is the best with it being located right on St Catherine Street. You need to take a separate elevator to get from the street to the hotel lobby and then another to get up to the rooms which is slightly inconvenient but is still workable. The hotel only has 25 parking spots from what they told us which doesn’t make much sense as it was sold out all weekend but there is a public parking garage connected that has a reasonable rate if you are staying parked all weekend but could get pricey if you require in and out parking privileges. Just a heads up to factor in as usually most hotels of this stature have their own parking with in and out privileges included. Rooms are clean and beds and pillows are comfortable. I’d stay here again just because of the location and reasonable price.

Waited around 15 mins at front desk just to have people disrespectfully bud in front of me while I’m waiting in line. Representatives at front desk did nothing about people cutting in front of me and when I was the next person in line, no one even looked at me nor helped me for a while, which resulted in myself walking away. I’m a proud Hilton Honors member and always received respect from other Hilton establishments but this one has disappointed me.

L’hôtel est génial! Le personnel est très accueillant et attentionné! Dès le début de notre expérience, le valet nous a fait rire. L’emplacement est idéal pour un séjour à Montréal. Il y a aussi une piscine avec Le Soleil qui entre dans la pièce, on s’est cru dans le sud pendant un instant. A toute l’équipe de Double tree Hilton, merci!

Great stay for the festival. The staff gave me a great room overlooking the festivities. I enjoyed the easy access to the shopping complex, the breakfast in the room, and the friendly staff. The hotel itself is well kept and beautiful.

Père monoparentale en voyage a Montréal avec mes 5 enfants. Ils ont refusés que je loue une chambre parce qu’on était trop nombreux. Je voyages fréquemment avec mes enfants jamais un hôtel ne m’avait refusé. J’ai été obligé de louer une deuxième chambre car j’étais trop mal pris et avec autant d’enfants on ne peut se revirer sur un 10 cents. Cet hôtel a abusé de ma situation pour du profit je le déconseille fortement.

When we swimming and back to the room, we found our room’s shower didn’t have hot water. We were so cold and my daughter is only 2 yrs. We called the front desk, but there were on one answered. I have to wore back my clothes and went down to check. They sent a mechanical person to the room. He said it will takes him 30-45min to fix the bath shower if we didn’t mind and can wait. I told him we were so cold and just swimming. Then he went downstairs and someone come and open a new room so that we could take a shower and the person in the meanwhile fix the shower in our room. We waited totally a hour before we could took a hot shower. Never had such experience before in any of the hotels in Montreal.

Great hotel in downtown Montreal, walking distance too all tourists attractions in the core. Locals were friendly and accommodating of English only tourists. A bit confusing getting around the elevators and the mall below but we figured it out by the end of our first day. Rooms are clean and well maintained.

Great location, room is clean, modern style decor, just didn't care for the barn style bathroom door, not very private if you are sharing the room.

Clean. Luxurious feeling. Bed is very comfortable. Had a king size bed facing the city. Fell asleep well. I would go back and stay here.

Right on Rue St. Catherines, lots of art installations and street is closed down for pedestrians and also close to Chinatown. Great proximity to fun! And also a great retreat to recharge.

The only reason why I gave it a 4 is that on the 2nd night we flipped the bed sheets and thought we saw blood at the end of the bed sheet where they folded it, inwards. It could have been something else; the red and I've mistaken, but then psychologically, I wasn't able to sleep as comfortably and it's hard for me to sleep at home nevermind away from home. So sleeping is a big deal.

I had to fix my review. Please cancel the preauthorization charges that you said you would release! It’s been 3 weeks. It’s impossible to contact the person in charge and never picks up and never answering my voice mail.

Endroit pas vraiment "user friendly". Les lieux sont propres cependant il semblait y avoir un manque de communications avec les employés. J'y suis allée pour une conférence et quand J'ai demandé à une employée de l'hôtel â l'accueil où était la conférence elle ne savait pas où s'était. Elle m'a dit que c'était probablement à une autre étagé. Je vais souvent dans des conférences dans des hôtels et c'était la première fois que j'experimentais cela.

The bedroom was nice and clean, the problem was in the bathroom. The door is a sliding type, like a wardrobe, but it didn't cover the entrance totally. There was a spacing of at least an inch from the wall, so if you walked in front of the bathroom, you could see and hear everything. And there was no fan in the bathroom (or it wasn't working).

Good hotel situated within a big shopping centre. Friendly staff, convenient location for exploring the city, and nice patio and outdoor bar are. Pool was nice but busy, steam room was nice.

Reliably within the Hilton family experience, the surprise was the pleasant bar, wonderful bar staff and delicious food.

We really enjoyed our visit at this hotel. The staff were friendly and attentive and the rooms were clean, modern and comfortable. The executive lounge was a great add with a very nice happy hour.

The location is extremely convenient and walkable to Aires Libres - the port of Montreal, downtown, Mcgill and more.

We had a three day stay at the Hilton Doubletree and it was fantastic. We stayed on the executive floor and the breakfast and the evening buffet they set up could not have been any nicer. Our bed was so comfortable our room was wonderful and we were able to walk to most places of interest. Will definitely come back!

Upon arriving at the reception desk, Yuri was very welcoming and even allowed me to change my reservation to a king bedroom. His professionalism and thoughtful use of words was very much appreciated. The hotel itself is beautiful and situated next to a mall which is a plus.

Went to this hotel for a conference. Great space with a lot of breakout rooms for smaller groups. The food we received for lunch was great all three days. Attached to a large shopping mall.

Chambre propre, belle vue sur le centre ville. Cependant les chambres côte à côte séparé par une porte est un "moins" pour moi. Et l'accueil laisse a désirer. L'homme qui nous a accueilli était arrogant. 328$ pour une chambre standard et un accueil aucunement chaleureux.plus jamais!

The customer service from the valet, to the desk attendant was stellar! Thanks for sorting it out for us. The pool its warm just the way we like it.

Pros:

My girlfriend and I had an amazing stay at the DoubleTree. Everything was clean and the beds were extremely comfortable. The staff was very accommodating. The checkin and checkout were a breeze, and although I don't speak French too much, the staff were knowledgeable enough to speak English. The rooms were cleaned thoroughly daily and the help from the front desk was superb anytime we need anything. Patrick Arthur, helped us check in, he was very polite and very professional at his job.

The location of this hotel is EXCELLENT. It's right on st. Catheraines st.where all the night life and shopping stores seemed to be. We parked at the hotel and we didn't use our car the whole trip.

I am currently trying to learn better French, so I can be more part of the culture here in Montréal, Québec. I actually felt quite ashamed that I couldn't speak more in the French language (not that anyone was rude to me), considering it's our nations second language. I encourage other people coming from different parts of Canada to learn more French, not for the people of Québéc, but for yourselves, so that you feel more a part of things. It would have made my experience in Montréal, much more enjoyable if I knew more French.

Cons:

The only downfall this hotel seems to have is the bathroom doors. They are sliding doors that leave a 4 inch gap on each side where you can visibly see anyone using the toilet. Now, because I was with my girlfriend, this was not a problem at all because we are very comfortable with each other. However, if it was anyone else, say a family member or a friend? There would be absolutely no way in hell those doors would work for me. I'm not going to take off any stars for that because it didn't bother me, but people should know, there is little to no privacy while using toilets. I thought long and hard about why they would do this and the only reason I can see them doing this is because there isn't exhaust fans in the bathrooms. So they need to leave the door slightly open to let out steam from showering. That's the only explanation I can think of that would make them put in a door that had 4 inch gaps on each side.

All in all this hotel is amazing and I would stay here again 100%
Great staff, amazing atmosphere and superb location. 10/10

While the facilities are nice, the service was not. I waited for housekeeping for an hour and was late for a Skype appointment because of it. I asked 2 hours in advance and they confirmed the time. Even after speaking to the housekeeping manager, the staff didn’t show up for another 20 minutes.

Also, the WiFi was so bad that I could barely keep my phone connection going for more than 5 minutes. Will probably not stay here again.

Not a fan. My pillows smelled like a 5 dollar hoocker. I asked for new pillows. Only recieved new pillow cases. The same issue remains.

TOO MANY LEVELS GETS OLD ON THE FIRST DAY.

We had a Suite. Something was in the Master Bed that was incredibly itchy to both my wife and myself.

As we were only staying 1 night, we ended up sleeping with our clothes on with our socks tucked into our pants.

Also, the bathroom doors are sliding barn doors. You are not able to lock them and they slide open on their own. So you have virtually no privacy when using the bathroom.

My Teenage daughter thought she closed the door.was on her phone on the toilet.but the door slide open. She was totally unaware.
