We came here after hearing so many good things and reading the good reviews. The taste of the food was not authentic at all. There is no flavor or spice, and they load everything with cheese to mask that fact that they don’t season their food. I’m a huge foodie and this restaurant was super disappointing. You’re better off going to a local taco joint.

Great food with friendly service and good value. I had grilled chicken with mole sauce and it was excellent.

Food was ok, meet not cooked as we aked, i asked for medium rare and got rare almost blue, my mom asked for well done and got medium rare, we aked for an appetizer that never came and we where charged 3$ extra than what the menu said for each plate because "the meat is more expensive". First and last time going therfor sure

Bon la tout y est vous voulez savourez une excellente gastronomie mexicaine tout y es savoureux de la viande aux fruits de mers. Les epices sont harmonieusement distillées dans les plats. Le service rapide discret et efficace vous êtes servis sans en prendre conscience. Les prix sont plus que abordables pour la qualité des mets offerts. Maintenant ce qui ne gâte rien au sortir du restaurant vous avez un cadre magnifique pour finir la discussion et digérer doucement. Ce n est pas juste un restaurant mais une expérience à vivre et ce à Montréal. Pour affaire ou pour la détente l’environnement est gagnant

My absolute favourite mexican restaurant. Everything is delicious, I’ve never had anything bad. Very cute vibe inside or you can takeout the food and eat near the water.

Excellente et savoureuse cuisine mexicaine. Les viandes, les légumes, la purée de haricot.tout était vraiment délicieux! (belles portions, pas trop épicé). Belle ambiance et service très professionnel, toute la famille a adoré. Je recommande cet excellent restaurant que je suis bien contente d'avoir découvert.il existe depuis 29 ans!

First time and definitely won't be our last. Delicious food and amazing service. The restaurant is across from the water so it is a perfect place for an after dinner walk. We will be returning very soon.

Simple Mexican food. Great portion sizes and reasonably priced. Menu has not changed in awhile, so could use a change. Need a more me variety with the beverages and sides. Nice location. No AC inside, FYI

Ce restaurant m'a réconciliée avec la cuisine mexicaine! Tout était bon! Moi qui suis incapable de supporter le Épicé, j'ai été extrêmement agréablement surprise! La fondue de cactus était intéressante; je n'avais jamais goûté avant. Les tacos étaient exquis, tout comme leur accompagnement de riz et de purée de haricots!

L’accueil la plus médiocre que j’ai jamais vécu dans mon expérience restauration; je demande de réserver une table sur la terrasse car j’en ai vu une avec la pancarte réservé; ont me répond que c’est parce que le client avait un chien et qu’ils sont interdits à l’intérieur, alors ce client a reçu un traitement de faveur, car sans chien impossible de réserver; alors je répond que j’ai moi aussi un chien et que je viendrai avec; quand je suis arrivée le soir de ma réservation la table était prise, la fille m’a reconnu et elle s’est adressée à son parton, qui lui a répondu < ils se sont présentés > avec un aire de dédain, et il est passé à côté de moi sans savoir que j’avais entendu son commentaire, il avait tellement l’aire bête que je me demandais si j’allais rester là pour manger; finalement nous avons décidé d’aller ailleurs car jamais je donnerai mon argent à un propriétaire de resto qui n’aime pas ces clients; je ne remettrai plus les pieds là, nous sommes allées au resto suivant, Italien, ou nous avons été accueilli avec un très grand sourire, et un excellent service!

Ahhhh! El Meson! Une cuisine authentique et un accueil chaleureux! Un bijou de Lachine. L'endroit parfait pour le dîner ou le souper. Excellent rapport qualité/prix!
La salle à manger et la terrasse procurent une belle intimité.

Selon moi le meilleur mexicain à Montréal. Déjà quelques visites chez mon restaurant mexicain favori à Montréal. Aout 2020 covid Ce soir encore une fois un service impeccable par notre serveur. Encore une fois ce soir j'ai pris un de mes plat favori qui est le nachos, il était un peu différent, je ne suis pas prêt à dire qu'auparavant il était mieux mais il me semble qu'on aimait plus l'ancienne recette, mais rien pour changer mon appréciation de ce restaurant. Mai 2022, encore une fois des plats extraordinaires, juste la soupe vaut le déplacement peu importe d'où vous venez

Our water was nice. The food was mostly good. The vegetarian fajita is not that great and the tortillas are the soft ones you buy at maxi, which is a big nono. The très leche was delicious, the piña colada as well.
For my meat-eater family, the Lamb is amazing, the seafood mussel dish is great, and the red snapper as well.
The tortilla soup is delicious as well.
I don't recommend sitting in the alley, there's a bunch of big spiders, mosquitos and it smelled like urine.

Family run business, and you can tell they take pride in their business and food. I definitely recommend this place.

Food is good but the place is tiny so it feels very claustrophobic. Also for the price the portions are small, I would at least expect a side of salad with my enchiladas

Small cozy traditional cuisine spot. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Food was hot and tasty. Would recommend for casual dining.

Une belle découverte à Lachine ce soir! Ambiance chaleureuse et personnel sympathique. Nourriture de bonne qualité et belle présentation. J’aurais bien voulu essayer le carne asada avec une sauce autre que la mole, mais tout de même heureuse d’y avoir goûté! Nous reviendrons certainement en été… sur la terrasse!

Food and service were really good. Serving sizes may be small for some people. Their cocktails are good as well.

The food and atmosphere are great. I'm only giving one star because I was asked to show my vaccine passport 5 minutes after I was seated while my two friends who'd been seated before me were never asked. I believe it's because I'm young and a visible minority while they are not. I will not be going back.

Staff was very friendly and accommodating despite being clearly rushed off their feet. I've been served by El Meson twice. Once for takeout and another time dine-in with family. All concerned commented on how good their meals were.

Excellent authentic Mexican cuisine in a charming rustic setting. Weather permitting they have a nice small terrace overlooking the lachine canal.

No words to describe this experience. It was amazing experience. Hands off to the food. It was delicious. Quantity and quality is fabulous. I must say to try it once. Staff is very generous and dedicated to their job. They behave and trat you amazing and gives you environment like family gathering. I tried Mexican food along but this was the best. Wonderful experience. Hats off to staff.

Endroit hors du temps pour une sortie de fin de semaine en dehors de Montréal. Place authentique. Les plats sont copieux et bons. Le service est agréable. La salle est un peu petite mais c'est aussi son charme. Ambiance familiale.

Le service était exceptionnel, très attentionné. Je ne donne pas 5 étoiles puisque je trouve que la nourriture est trop cher et il n’y a pas vraiment beaucoup de choix. Les meilleurs frijoles que j’ai goûté à Montréal. Aussi, dans le menu ce n’est pas indiqué que la Carne asada vient avec mole: (. J’ai été un peu déçu puisque je ne suis pas très fan, mais je l’ai mangé quand même haha.

A friend and I went for lunch today and the place was packed. We took the very small remaining table right beside the bar. As you would expect, it was quite noisy but the restaurant was jammed so no surprise there. The staff were very nice and the service was good. Margaritas were great, however the food was barely warm so that was a bit disappointing and a big no-no for me, I like my food hot.

So we went to El Mason today, waited a long time to get a table, but it was worth it. The food, the people and the vibe of this place is amazing. It is a small place but a wonderful restaurant. Highly recommended.

3rd time here and will continue to come back for the delicious authentic mexican food! Cute patio also! Best margarita in the neighborhood! I had the guacamole and enchiladas. Very good. Service was excellent and fast:)

Le service était excellent, 5 étoiles pour le service, vite, courtois et super gentil. La nourriture était bien présentée avec une bonne quantité et le saveur était bon (pas qqch du vrai latino, mais c’était bien). Je donne 4 étoiles car l’eau était pas bonne et c’était un peu chère.

The staff is super friendly, attentive and welcoming. The food is tasty but noticeably salty. We had the enchiladas with mole sauce. I asked for corn but received flour tortillas. The side dish of refried beans was dry and the sautéed veggie portion was very small. The seasoned rice was perfect.
The guacamole was good, served with homemade chips and hot sauce.
The indoor seating is quite noisy and small. The outdoor seating is also tight but it’s nice to be outside. They have a cozy vine covered alley with nice lighting and seating for couples.

I never went to Mexico but I stayed in Belize and the atmosphere and food reminded me of there. LOVED IT. Absolutely delicious food well seasoned and cooked. Nice satisfying portions. Great patio with view of canal.

Malheureusement devenu beaucoup trop cher et nourriture moins bonne qu'avant. Drink vraiment très exagérément trop cher et très ordinaire. On a eu notre drink froid avec le repas chaud qui n'allait pas ensemble.bref.dommage et le prix vraiment trop.

One of the best authentic Mexican restaurants, not one of those taco express places. You will find authentic dishes, like one of my favourite Chiles Rellenos (stuffed peppers with your choice of meat, topped with melted cheese, with side of rice and beans)
Huge variety on the menu, guacamole is delicious with those crunchy chips. Service is amazing, been here many times, this time was take out due to Covid, beautiful park across the street with benches you can bring your food and enjoy it there.

I can go on and on about this place, highly highly recommended, worth the drive!

Yum. Delicious. Portions are very large. I ordered delivery and I appreciate how they packed everything extra carefully to avoid any spills.

Ordered via an app. Trying this restaurant for the first time. We had chicken enchiladas, stuffed beef capsicum, garlic bread and plain nachos. It arrived very warm (we are in Dorval and them Lachine) ; don’t take this for granted. Wifey and I loved your food. It was very tasty and rich. She found your rice delicious. We will order again.

This place is amazing! The food is exceptional and the service outstanding. We showed up at 8: 30 they were closing at 9, they still served us and we didn’t feel rushed at all. We ordered a meal that the waitress told us it takes 25-30minutes to cook, we said if it was okay with the chef if not we could change our order. The waitress did not come back to ask us to change orders and when we received our meal it was perfectly cooked! The quality of the food was incredible, the flavours were unbelievable. This has to be the best Mexican restaurant in Montreal! Probably even best outside of Mexico. I cannot wait to visit here again! Definitely recommend this restaurant!

Food was pretty good. Portions are small. Service was terrible. No one came to ask if we wanted anything or check on us the entire meal. I think they want you to buy drinks to make it worth it for them

Have been there twice, first time 2 years ago, it was really good, nice service.enjoyed it. Been there a second time few weeks ago with friends and family, and we were really really disappointed. Don't know if management has been changed in between or whatever.but service was a shame! Food was correct, not as expected but ok (i ordered tacos and got kind of enchilada that they call tacos but not important). We ordered "Micheladas", got beer with chili powder (a ton), celery salt and clamato. Please.don't call that *ç%&/ "Michelada"! Not at all.and one of us is mexican.we perfectly know what is a Michelada (at least in Mexico!) anyway, we talked with the woman whom is responsible and she told us "you asked for hot michelada, that's what you got" (we have never been asked for anything about how much "hot"). We just asked for Michelada with less chili at least to be able to drink it. Answer: just put more clamato. (then you got an undrinkable clamato with ton of chili.i love chili but not that much!). All that with a really bad attitude of the responsible.not customer oriented at all.they finally never bring us any other drink or whatever else.so we left with a very very bad impression of this restaurant. We were all very disappointed.and for sure we will never go there again. We are not used to complain about anything in restaurants.not "high maintenance people", first time I have to let a bad comment.but they really worse it!

Bon petit resto Mexicain à prix abordable. Les fajitas était très bon avec une très bonne portion. L'intérieur fait vraiment Mexicain mais un peu vieillot. Belle expérience. C'était ma deuxième fois. Pas déçue. Je donne un 3 étoiles et demi.

We came on a Saturday, Family of six with my Ex, yes I know lol This was after the dance recital of my youngest! The lady was amazing, since she's there, customer service has changed greatly! More family feeling! Anyway we had many things on the menu, very satisfying. If you want a great drink, with very good food, in a exotic ambiance at a good price, GO for it you will not be disappointed ;/)

Excellent restaurant couldn't be more impressed. Had the off menu spicy sauce which was great. If you get a chance check this gem out you will not be disappointed.

We had not been there in years. It looks like the same family is still operating this cozy Mexican restaurant. I’m not an expert in Mexican cuisine but everything was very tasty! Service was impeccable. Very reasonably priced. Well worth the drive to Lachine. Will definitely go back.

Very authentic, good flavors, it was not the biggest menu, but all classics were there, good service in french, English and Spanish. Great ambiance and amazing view to the water front

Food is ok. Nothing very fancy. Old and small place. Table Service is so so. Terrace in the back of the restaurant and a few tables in the front. Verdict: Give it a try and see by yourself.

If you're looking to eat like you would in Mexico, do yourself a favor and enjoy El Meson. We went couple of times and all is good every time. The owner is so nice and her staff too. The ambiance is cute and perfect for a date night!

Real Mexican restaurant with very nice dish and super friendly staff. Wether you take a walk in the park or boking along the path just stop to enjoy the view of the Lachine canal and have taste some Mexican dishes.awesome

We went at lunch time. Food very good, prices reasonable, and the margaritas rounded the meal perfectly!

I was in the mood for Mexican and have driven by El Mason many times. I decided to stop at El Mason for a late lunch not expecting much. I was very surprised. The location is great. I sat outside and had a great view of the water. The food exceeded my expectations. I had some nachos with their spicy dip and I ordered the tilapia quesadillas which were amazing and a meal for 2. The service was also very attentive. It's a small place and probably gets very busy during peak hours. If you're in the Lachine area or like driving down Lakeshore, I highly recommend you stop by El Mason. You won't be disappointed.

Amazing authentic food. One of the best Mexican restaurants I've been too in a long time. The only thing. I woumd avoid in hot weather as the a/c doesn't work very well. But the food is soooo worth it!

Absolutely fantastic food, had the fajitas (chicken) and very satisfied! Service was a bit spotty, they need to work on that. The atmosphere was great, sat out front on the porch. I will come back the next time I am in Montreal.

I stopped by with a friend to have a snack with a pitcher of Margarita. Everything was perfect and the Margarita was not too sweet and you can actually taste the tequila, unlike some other places. The food was tasty and fresh. The salsa that came with the nachos had the perfect amount of spice; not crazy hot but with just the right amount of zing. The servers were prompt and attentive, but not overly so. This was the first time I was there & I will definitely go back!

Best mexican in Montreal. Makes Carlos and Pepe look like fast food. Enchiladas were yummmmy. Friends had red snapper, tacos, All loved it. Bad side: tough to get a table and watch out for bugs outside!
