Love this place! I often come here by myself to have the Mexican breakfast after browsing the Jean-Talon market. The portions are very filling and the flavour is there. Service is quick and attentive, but discreet. It’s very popular on the weekends, with returning customers from all backgrounds, and many families! They also have a small grocery section where you can buy Mexican ingredients, as well as house-made dips and salsa!

Je ne m'y connais pas beaucoup, mais celui qui m'accompagnait a longtemps vécu au Mexique. Il a trouvé que ceux du Roi de taco étaient identiques à ceux qu'il mangeait là-bas!

El Rey del taco, the name speaks for itself. The King of tacos in Montreal. Authentic atmosphere. Great food. A mainstay of the Jean Talon Market scene for many years now. I have been buying my tortilla chips from there for at least 10 years now. Try the tacos, but don’t forget to start with the guacamole!

Les tacos au poisson sont excellents. Bonne sélection de produits pour emporter, tacos de maïs faits sur place, salsas.

Very poor customer service. We weren’t greeted by anyone when we entered the establishment so we approached the first employee we saw. When we mentioned that it would be a take out order she just pointed to the cash, didn’t even give us a menu. We waited around 30 mins for our food and when we got home we were disappointed by the quality of our meals It’s sad because we used to come here all the time for their barbacoa but after this last experience I don’t think we are coming back.

For a first time experience i found the tacos very tasty. The portions are a little small for the price but for a small eater i guess its ok. Definitely will go back i recommend it

The tacos were ok, unfortunately due to the mask mandate in addition to the plexiglass divider at the cash where I made my to go order, there was some confusion about the type I had ordered, so while one was ok, the other wasn't something I eat and when I addressed the issue they just kinda shrugged it off.

One of the 4 people in our group who ordered also didn't hear her name get called, because it wasn't her name, but we waited about 30 minutes until inquiring only to find out why she hadn't heard her name and picked up her cold tacos and left.

Wasn't the worst experience, but wasn't exactly the best.

La viande Pastor ne fit pas au plat traditionnel Mexicain. Il manquait de goût. L’ananas ne devrait pas être mélangé, il doit être à côté. 6$ pour l’agua de Jamaïque, manque de saveur aussi. Je donne une note de trois parce que je ne veux pas affecter le restaurant mais je veux être aussi sincère. Si non, ils ont été généreux avec les tortillas, oignons, coriandre, lime et citron.

Accueil froid, nourriture médiocre. La viande des tacos al pastor était coriace. La quesadilla Del Rey contenait une sauce qui goûte la bolognaise, avec gros morceaux de céleris et carottes, et du fromage qui n’était pas fondu. Ouf. On nous a demandé si ça allait en débarrassant les assiettes, pas avant. On aurait bien pris de la sauce piquante, quelque chose pour donner un peu de saveur, mais jamais le serveur n’est venu pendant qu’on mangeait.
La guacamole était savoureuse, c’est le seul point intéressant.

Une des meilleur place où manger mexicain à Montréal, prix très honnête, nourriture approuvé par les mexicains, service bon, par contre au service certain ne parle pas vraiment français donc soit espagnol soit anglais. FONCEZ!

I got the enchiladas rojas and was not impressed by them. The flavour of the salsa ranchera was pretty bland. Nonetheless the server was very kind and the food came out in less than 5 minutes after ordering it. I would not spend my own money on a meal at this place again, but if someone else was paying I would try another dish.

Horrible experience which began with the ordering process. The menu has no description of the dishes offered (very vague with no details of the ingredients). Ordered quesadillas with queso & guacamole, chorizo-cheese tacos, and beef-tongue tacos. Neither of the plates were accompanied with the usual red and green sauce. Sour cream was added but with an extra cost. The chorizo-tacos were inedible, extremely salty that I was not able to eat. Finally, the beef-tongue tacos were very dry with no sauce or lemon added, which I am usually accustomed to at any authentic Mexican restaurant.
40$ down the drain, I should have ordered from Mr. Azteca which never dissapoints.

I’m usually always in California and had the best Mexican food! I came here with no expectation and was excited. It’s a pretty big place and got packed pretty quickly during dinner rush.
I had the Al Pastor tacos, Soupe de Tortilla and Guacamole. It was good! Make sure to order their home made horchata, I love their version because it wasn’t like drinking sugar (like in Cali) lol the best I’ve had! Also their dessert, Churro and Alfajor. Been day dreaming of those desserts since! Sorry no photos of it, I got too excited and ate it

Had the special of the day "taco de cabesa" and it was deliscious. Strongly recommend this place and they even have many food ingredients on sale like tomatillo and dried chilis and many other typical mexican ingredients

The best tacos ever! And super affordable! I've been to so many places where they charge $12 for 3 tacos. But here, the average price for a taco plate is about $9 for 4 tacos! And it's amazinnnng! And the rice, ohmygod the rice is delicious. We got 3 taco plates, extra guacamole and extra rice for $40! So cheap! They also give us some chips and salsa once you're seated in the restaurant! They really are the king of tacos!

Très mauvaise expérience des plats qu on a pas mangé il faut faire très attention en choisissant et surtout se renseigner peut etre avant ce qui n aide pas aussi c est qu il n y a pas de site pour decouvrir un peu le menu avant d etre sur place puis l 'atmosphère sur placz est bizarre!

Cuisine succulente et service hors pair.
Je recommande fortement de goûter à leur plat de gringa ou à leur entrée de fajitas au champignons et fromage pour les végés.

J'ai visité l'établissement un lundi soir, c'était plutôt calme. La serveuse n'a pas été très présente.elle a apporté les assiettes et les boissons à la table, puis n'est jamais repassée.sauf pour ramasser les assiettes vides. On n'a jamais pu avoir d'autre eau une fois le "pichet" (c'est plus une bouteille à lait) vide. La nourriture était correcte, sans plus. Attendez vous à vous faire demander de laisser le pourboire à la table, c'est a se demander s'ils ne reçoivent pas les pourboires laissés à la caisse sur la machine interact. Malheureusement la dernière impression que j'ai de la place est vraiment mauvaise, le caissier qui était là ce soir était tellement désagréable! Il n'a pas pensé à demandé si nous avions bien mangé ou juste même être présent pour les clients devant lui;non il était plutôt occupé à jouer avec son cellulaire pour ensuite reprendre brusquement (voir arracher) la machine des mains des clients. En conclusion, je ne suis pas sûre de revisiter ce restaurant, car pour manger des mets mexicains ce n'est pas les options qui manquent à Montréal!

I have been many tacos restaurants, but here is the best in my opinions.
Also they have great soup! If you love to eat spicy soup, you should try it!
And stuffs are super duper kind and nice.
The best thing is that you can eat tacos alot with kind price!

Absolutely amazing place. Portions are large, price is small. Service is spectacular and friendly, and quick. We went on a Thursday evening around 4: 30 pm for a really early dinner. 0 wait times, we sat where we wanted, they brought corn chips and 3 different salsas - one spicy, one medium, one not spicy. We ordered the enchiladas de mole and the tortilla soup (small). Both items on the menu were so flavorful. Everything here is legit authentic, from the atmosphere, to the kitchen, to the food. 10/10, definitely coming back again to try more items here.

Le menu va su delà du taco et des fajitas. On y retrouve également de la nourriture sud américaine traditionnelle. A notre arrivée on nous sert des tortillas avec 3 types de sauce.

Pas de permis d’alcool mais plusieurs breuvages sud américains.

The best thing about Montreal! Their food is awesome, the service is great and the hot sauce you can buy at the back is worth a trip to Montreal on its own!
