Don't let the negative reviews scare you. I stayed for a few days over new year's eve and it was a great value for money, and location is great too. Bedrooms, sheets and bathrooms are honestly very clean. Saw reviews commenting about bed bugs, but I did not encounter any. Staff was very helpful and friendly, they even gave us free breakfast because they were sold out of foldable beds. Housekeeping does their job well too.
Parking is expensive, and the website does a poor job of conveying that. However there is a public garage next door for $18 per 24h.
Many people complained that you can't change the temperature in the room. While that's true, we spoke to the front desk and they came and opened the panel covering the radiator so that we could adjust the temperature ourselves.
As for the negatives, the front desk is severely understaffed, it's almost impossible to reach them by phone, and much of the time there is nobody there at all. Building is dated, but well rebovated. Also, the advertised gym was inaccessible.

Manque d'éclairage dans la chambre, support essui-main et papier de toilette bas. Légèrement bruyant dû à l'emplacement.

Despite the mix reviews this place gets all I can say is that I didn’t have any issues overall I stayed at this spot twice, the place looks classy the rooms were pretty nice, and it’s at a decent location

This was by far my worst experience with hotels. First, they canceled my reservation mid-flight when I was flying to Montreal, and then they charged me $250 as a security deposit, but now they won't refund my deposit. That means they are stealing my money!
If you follow my recommendation, DON'T BOOK THIS HOTEL!

Well, the hotel itself was okay, I guess. Service was okay also. It's a bit old, and rooms are dated but overall close to downtown.

Very dishonest and rude people! The General Manager is very rude! It was the worst experience ever! We travel a lot and I have worked for the 5 star hospitality industry for 3 years and we never had a experience like that. As soon as we landed in Montreal around 9-10pm we found a message in our inbox saying that our reservation for 7 days was canceled. We called the hotel and they told us to go there that they will resolve the issue. When we arrived at the hotel they told us that they have a room available just for 2 days and they won’t charge the same price that we had payed before, but it Will cost more. They tried to get advanced of the situation as it was 11pm already and they know that we wouldn’t have any other place to go. Beside we have our daughter and soon with us. After a lot of talking they agree to charge the same that we have paid before, but not for 7 days. We have my daughter and soon with me and my soon is a minor. When the two days passed they told us that they have the Room for the other days available, but again they want to charge us more and again tried to take advanced of the situation. In the meantime we had my daughter at the hospital as she was not felling well. They agree to charge the same that we have paid before they canceled our reservation. When we checked out they confirmed that they would give us back the 250 deposit. We thought that everything it was resolved at the end, but after 15 days, nothing was reverted. We called them today and they said that they are not giving the deposit fee back. I don’t want even talk about the room. Very bad maintained. The modern photos are just for the lobby. The rooms are pretty old and bad maintained. I never wrote reviews, but it is a very dishonest business. They are refusing to give our 250 security deposit back! They are a completely SCAM! After Reading some of the reviews I can see that what happened to my family it seems to be a common scam scheme they apply to the guests. We are looking for a way to report this business. Please avoid this place!

I wish if i can put a Zero while i was coming back from the restaurant i caught one of the staff stealing in my room i eventually called the cops what a crazy night NEVER GO TO THIS HOTEL

Not all that it’s chalked up to be.
For starters, when we checked in, the gentleman at front desk had an attitude. It’s $40 a night for parking, which is a total rip off because the parking there is a complete joke. They overbook the parking and there’s no spots left so people have to block you in. Not to mention it’s a miracle if you don’t scratch your vehicle with how many obstacles there are and tight spots.

Sure the location is great if you’re looking for downtown Montreal. When you walk in the lobby it’s completely remodelled but once you hit the elevators, the hallways and rooms are outdated and not worth what we paid for two nights.

Was only given two towels, room had a musty smell. And when you arrive to your room, the only light switch powers all outlets so you essentially turn on the power to your room when you arrive.

Website states that breakfast is available until 10: 30 Saturdays, we went down at 9: 40 and there were mere scraps left.

Overall not impressed with our $800 bill for two nights for a false luxury hotel.

Location is great but that is where it ends. Advertised as a luxury hotel but I would compare it to an econolodge at best. As soon as you pass the lobby, there is nothing luxurious. The mattress was extremely old and SUPER hard (great if you like to sleep on a rock)! Most of the handles on the dresser and night tables were broken. AC is not the best, it was super noisy and had the temperature would not go down much. Cleanliness is not up to their hygiene standards they advertise (Toothpaste and food residue on door knob, dirty mirror in bathroom, dusty countertop). We also dealt with the reception twice because we couldnt find the remote for the tiny tv and we were given the run around. After all, I was not able to get any remote to watch tv during my stay and they completely refused to switch me rooms as there were no other queen rooms available and it was apparently impossible to put me in a king room.

Bottom line, I would not recommend.

No water in the lobby…it was empty…Noone available at the desk to help in the evening…leather of the chair is torn in the rooms…. Small and noisy lift…bad service

CATFISH hotel looks extremely luxurious at first in the lobby and all the photos but it is not what it looks like as soon as you leave the lobby it looks like you’re in a completely different hotel i had hopes for the rooms but was very disappointed. The rooms have horrible lighting and there seemed to be a pee stain on one of the beds the room looks like it came straight out of a horror movie.please save your money you can get a much better hotel in a much better area for cheaper

Nightmare's hotel, dont book there! We booked a room through booking, had to cancel less than 24h before as daughter was rushed to emerg. We called the hotel, were told we could move the date but it had to be done through booking. Did that, room was charged for first night, not rescheduled. Called the hotel many times before and after, have been given the run around treatment. Honestly very poor service! Taled to manager Mohamed many times, was told I would be called back, nothing. At this point, I think it s better we sit on our loss and book another hotel.

Amazing place to stay. Tajinder and Ali were very helpful and friendly. They did make sure we have comfortable stay at night. Gr8 place to stay. Thank you soo much guys for the hospitality

Great location near a metro station in downtown Montreal. The staff were kind and helpful, and I felt overall it was great value for the cost!

Last minutes booking on the weekend! Empire Suites team are warm and sweet front the reception to the room cleaners! On this last minute booking I appreciate the young manager he recommended me to eat at this restaurant Zante incredible Greek restaurant! There is a near by 24/7 convenience store called Couche-Tard 2mins walk. Parking is $40CAD+ Tax. I'd rather park with them then elsewhere. Rooms are spacious and comfy.

The location is great! Very close to almost everything. The staffs are very helpful and they make sure that you feel like staying at your home.

Stayed 10 min in the hotel, had to leave for an emergency. Contact expedia told us we have to contact the hotel for them to send an email to expedia and they dont want to. Very upsetting and a lot of bad reviews. I would not recommend this hotel at all …

We found it online and booked by the guy tejinder on phone without stress, and he've reserved as he promised.the price he gave us was fair.

Excellent accueil et bien situé, au calme, avec une grande facilité pour se garer à proximité. De plus, il est très agréable et rénové avec beaucoup de goût. Les gérants très sympathiques et souriants sont aux petits soins, soucieux du bien être des clients, n'hésitant pas à conseiller, un accueil parfait! La chambre était très agréable et très propre. Nous avons passé un très bon séjour et nous n'hésiterons pas à le recommander! Continuez ainsi, c'était parfait! Ne changez rien et bonne continuation à toute l'équipe!
