Restaurant bien situé, au cœur de Montréal ; cadre sophistiqué et confortable ; service de qualité. Du coup, je m'attendais à mieux au plan gastronomique, mieux qu'une assiette du pêcheur se résumant au final à un duo de saumon et cabillaud avec timbale de riz safrané aux petits pois, précédé d'une salade. Je ne me souviens même pas du dessert! Juste que le pain était bon, ce qui n'est pas évident hors de France.

This review is for the club version of essence. The reggaeton and Latino crowd is the reason to come here as it is not as common as it should be in Montreal. The space itself has pretty low ceilings and is not built to be a club. Basically empty if you don’t come at peak hours but can be fun when it fills up. A friend witnessed an instance of a man spiking drinks so make sure to be extremely careful!

Vine aquí hace dos años y era un lugar estupendo. Ahora es el peor lugar para beber. Solo la camarera fue agradable, todo el resto del personal fue muy grosero. Para sentarte deberías comprar botellas (eso lo entiendo) pero ¿por qué deberían ser las más caras? Si quieres pasar un buen rato, no vengas aquí.
I came here two years ago and it was a super place. Now it's the worst place to drink. Only the waitress was nice, all the other staff was really rude. For sit you should buy bottles (I understand that) but why should be the most expensive? If you wanna have a good time, don't come here.
Je suis venu ici il y a deux ans et c'était un super endroit. Maintenant c'est le pire endroit pour boire. Seule la serveuse était gentille, tous les autres membres du personnel étaient vraiment désagréables. Pour s'asseoir, vous devriez acheter des bouteilles (je comprends cela) mais pourquoi devraient-elles être les plus chères? Si tu veux passer un bon moment, ne viens pas ici.

Service rapide, nourriture correcte mais portion un peu juste (assiette du pêcheur petit morceau de saumon, 4 crevettes et petit morceau de poisson blanc) servie avec du riz

The food is delicious and the staff is very friendly. I went for lunch and the service was fast and efficient. This is a great restaurant with fast service. I had the salmon and it was perfectly cooked. It melted in the mouth.

Very nice place, food is good, nice ambience, staff is friendly, prices are reasonable, and service was fast.
Our waitress was so very nice to our 8yrs son, so much, that he actually tip her of his own money.
Of course I will come back here.

Un bon restaurant pour passer un moment agréable entre amis ou amoureux. J’ai adoré la cuisine, l’ambiance calme. Bonne vibe. J’y suis allée vendredi soir. J’aurai mis 4 étoiles pour le temps d’attente avant d’être servi mais vu le délice et le très bon service, c’est pardonné! 2 fois que j’y vais en 3 mois, 2 fois satisfaite. Je recommande

Food is serviceable. Service is slow. No ambiance. Looks like a refurbished place where they didn't have all the budget they wanted to have.

Had a 3 course meal here with my wife on our first night in Montreal and it was fantastic! The food, atmosphere, and wait staff were perfect. Great way to finish or start the night

Superbe Resto du centre-ville abordable, bel endroit pour des 5@7 je recommande toutefois de réserver surtout si vous êtes nombreux surtout l'été.
Les staff sont super gentils et professionnels et très accueillants.

Superbe mets poulet légumes, tendre, goûteu, bien garnit de légumes al dente, bon service, dessert succulent, pouding chômeur sauce crémeuse sans excès de sucre, café frais coulé, potage sans excès d'herbes ou épices. Sourire et excellent service. Pain d'accompagnement frais, même si nous étions 250 clients présents et arrivés comme une bombe. Merci.

Its a nice restaurant for office lunch and small party. Our manager took us here for Christmas lunch before vacations. Staff is friendly and services were fast and well organized. Happy to be there for some good time with my colleagues.

Ce restaurant est agréable en été avec la terrasse. Le reste de l'année c'est vraiment moins intéressant. La nourriture est bonne mais sans plus. Avec tous les excellents restaurants de Montréal ce n'est pas mon premier choix. J'y vais surtout l'hiver quand je ne veux pas sortir au l'extérieur.

We were told to have a typical Canadian dinner.
Personally I didn't really like it, it was a bit too greasy.

Très bon! Un peu cher pour le lunch, mais sinon les assiettes étaient bien et le saumon était bien cuit juste à point. Manque un peu de légumes dans les assiettes pour bien balancer avec la protéine.

I went there Friday night with my girlfriend the bartender was acting up with her for no apparent reason I have to call the drinks myself. Other wise the music was good but the women bartender attitude make the vibe bitter.

Good food, decent service. Only issue is that the dessert was super sweet. Calamari was amazing tho!

Got served by a very rude waiter tonight (his name is Chris, according to the bill) who didn't deserve any tip at all, and still gave him 10%. He complained out loud about it, in front of other customers.

La nourriture est bonne. Le mobilier est usé. La musique un peu forte. Les employés sont généralement souriants mais n'essayez pas d'avoir du café avant le dessert c'est presque une mission impossible.

Nice terrace, and the good stops there. The food is ok but way overpriced for it's value. The service is sometimes acceptable but today especially was very poor. Our waiter put everything on one bill, forcing us to e-transfer each other, when one of us said something about it, he condescendingly said "it's just 1$ to e-transfer" then threw a dollar coin on the table. We work in the building and had gone a few times before but we are not going back now. I would definitely recommend AGAINST eating here.

Service was great with kind staff. Food was delicious and atmosphere was nice. The price a bit more than I would normally pay for the same items.

Was there with a group, 80 in total. Food was fantastic, service was great! All waite staff was on hand & did a wonderful job! They were very friendly and professional! The music was awesome as well.:)

We went in thinking to use the terrace, the manager was nice till we told her we wanted to have a drink! We were the only customers the place was empty. And very bluntly told us we can't take only drinks on the terace. No wonder they have no customers!

This restaurant is located a few steps below ground level, but it has a lot of windows. It's very nice to be there on a sunny day. The decoration is classy and the service is very attentive. My water glass was never empty. The food is good, but nothing extraordinary. It's a little pricier than your average restaurant but the location and service is worth it. I went there for lunch and I would go back.

Best restaurant I have been ever! And when you go to the club after it's so lit. I highly recommend it for everyone.

Endroit chaleureux pour passer un moment sympa lors du lunch. Pas le plus dispendieux mais pas le moins non plus, les repas sont de qualité sans toutefois être exceptionnels. Bonne place.

Très bon repas (le prix est légèrement au dessus de la norme mais la qualité le vaut) le personnel a été très aimable et est suffisamment organisé pour accueillir plusieurs groupes. Notre groupe a finalement eu 10 personnes de plus que prévu, nous avons eu un très bon service malgré la surprise.
