Fairfield by Marriott Montreal Downtown

The staff really made the difference for this hotel. They were very friendly and helpful. Especially Lillian who worked at their front desk. The rooms were clean and spacious with a good free breakfast selection in the morning.

First time in Montreal. Horrible Experience
In the first hour of checking in. Ask to see the room BEFORE you say yes. The room smelt of mold. They changed rooms but put my one floor below. Still smelt. The refrigerators do not run cold. They told me the fridges are not meant to be cold only used for storage. They had me do a cash deposit of $100 instead of on my credit card but didn’t want to give me a receipt. I had to insist on a hand written receipt as they would not give me a print out. I wanted to cancel the second night because this is a 1* hotel and not as advertised. I was told the cancellation policy was 24 hrs but when I tried to cancel the second night I was told it was 48 hours. Called Marriott who told me this was a franchise so all they could do is make a complaint. The manager has the discretion to honour the 24hr cancellation but I have to wait until tomorrow morning to speak with him. The garage cost is $30. It’s a very very small steep underground about 500x500 with 7 small spots. My Explorer barely fit. BEWARE of this hotel. I wish I had seen the reviews before I booked. It’s not worthy of the Marriott name.

Though I complained about the moldy smell, on the 10th floor, my concern was dismissed. The next day I came back to a fan drying wet carpet outside the room one floor down from the initial room they tried to give me. Clearly my senses were working correctly.

I did get my deposit back on checkout. No issues there as I had the receipt.

The room was nice and breakfast was good but a friend came in after 2 AM on Saturday night without me and the front desk and told him my room number and gave him two new keys and and he only told him my name…. Which was very sketchy. Also I noticed that it was young men down in the lobby all the time watching you, with me being a young lady I didn’t feel comfortable using the gym it kind of made me feel unsafe with both of theses things happening in less than 12hours of being there. I would say it was unsafe. Wouldn’t go back especially alone.

Great price quality ratio. Excellent location as berri uqam metro and the airport bus are two minutes away on foot! Complimentary breakfast was fine, there are healthy choices like oatmeal, fruits and yogurt. Rooms are spacious and very clean. The gym is open 24 hours and has all the equipment for a good workout. My only issue was with the A/C and heating unit, it was super loud. I stayed in room 400 and I am not sure if this is a general problem or mine had fulfunctioned. Also, windows are shut so no possibility to have fresh air. As I was staying there in October, I didnt use the HVAC but it could be an issue for warmer or colder months.

I would recommend this hotel.

Great, new, clean hotel with excellent service and a surprisingly nice free breakfast. Only 1 short block from Berri UQAM metro station, which is a major connecting station. At the far end of Ste Catherine, but easily accessible on foot or by Metro (and accordingly more reasonably priced).

Nice, well located, hotel. Nice staff. There is a microwave to use to warm up leftovers in the lobby. The walk-in shower is lovely. Comfy bed.

Un bon hôtel, un peu cher pour les services mais très bien situé. Ils n'ont toutefois pas vraiment de stationnement (seulement 14 places).

Great hotel, close to everything.
Lots of options for breakfast. Room was clean. The only thing I was unhappy about was No onsite parking available. (The listing on Expedia should say “Parking Limited”)

The hotel is extremely short-staffed, and the front desk agents are stressed out and overwhelmed. The hotel is old and apparently, most of it is being renovated. When I asked the agent whether there was an option to upgrade based on my loyalty status, she laughed and explained that there was nothing to choose from due to the renovations. The doors are awful, it would take me several attempts to try to open the door. At night people were slamming their doors and waking me up. The housekeepers were extremely loud ealy in the morning. All felt like I slept in a construction site. I did not get a good night sleep unfortunately. The next day, even thogh I told everyone that I have a late check out, housekeeping knocked in my door 4 times every 10-15 minutes. Then I received a call from the front desk - they desperately wanted me out. Terrible quality for the money I paid.

A wonderful experience. The location of the hotel is great in downtown of Montreal and close to the old port, the room is large and smells very nice, the mattress is very comfortable, breakfast food is very tasty and varied. I will definitely try it again.

This hotel is located at a very convenient location right in down town Montreal. I was there recently for a conference and found the rooms are very spacious, clean and quiet. Staff was very friendly and professional.

Excellent Hotel!
Me and my family stayed here when we came to visit Canada. It was great. The staff were very polite and the rooms were very clean.

I stayed at Fairfield this past week and I wanted to say how wonderful the staff was to me. Not only were they super accommodating but overall the nicest staff I have had at a hotel ever.
I got a to go breakfast one morning as I leave early for work and the one gentleman tracked me down outside when I walked out to make sure I got a water and juice with my breakfast.
The afternoon gentleman made sure I was able to get parking and had everything I needed, went out of his way for this and it truly made my day.
Thank you very much to all and I look forward to visiting your hotel again.

Mate, I visited this property and I loved it so much and I would love to come here again. I would definitely recommend it to a friend and I wanted to stay inside the hotel the whole time I was there and I didn't even want to see Canada (although I did and it was beautiful). The staff were all very kind and understanding which is very important innit.

Excellent location in downtown of Montreal, the Hotel is providing excellent services and clean room as per Marriott standard, the front desk team are great and professional in dealing with customers and they are very welcoming, the breakfast was good varieties of food and freshness.

Excellent staff, room, and location! The location alone sold me.it is central to so many things we planned on visiting. Rooms were modern, comfortable, and clean. Staff also helped me with parking on location and an item I left behind. Will definitely return to this hotel for my next visit to Montreal.

Good hotel. Stayed several times for many nights. Breakfast was better than before. Staffs were very helpful.
