Garde Manger

Came here twice with my wife over last weekend - both as walk-ins right at open and we were accommodated seats without issue - first in the corner table in the front room and then at the back room bar seats. The staff is cool and knowledgeable, the service was friendly and on point, ambience awesome and the food was outstanding. We did the wagyu with shaved black truffles, frittes, razor clams, croquettes and about 2 dozen oysters. We have nothing but good things to say about Garde Manger and will be stopping in every time we visit Montreal.

Excellent food and ambience but I can’t get over $75 scallop dish that only had about 3 scallops. Yes they were big but that’s still so ridiculously expensive. Same issue with razor clams, at $12 each. My favorites were the smoked sturgeon spread and the octopus. Top notch service and pleasant ambience. I would say this is one of the better culinary experiences in Montreal and a must visit but not all dishes are great and be weary of prices.

Fabulous meal. The agnelotti, halibut and hanger steak were amazing and the desserts were out of this world! Coffee cake and lemon blueberry tart capped off a perfect culinary evening! Our server, Elliott, was super friendly and helpful in reviewing our menu choices.

A great dinner, a great experience, all in a location full of character.

We ordered a la carte and each dish had that magical quality that you look for in the best restaurants in being much more than the sum of its parts.

While everything is good, one dish stood out; A tomato and peach appetizer that was so perfectly in season and well balanced that I could have eaten three servings all by myself.

We also sampled the trout, the scallops, and the catch of the day which was a halibut. All were excellent, really as good as it gets.

We also got a side of mushrooms, but while it was delicious, we really didn't need it and probably should have saved more room for dessert.

Between the desserts we tried the almond sponge with raspberries three ways was the best.

It's a very expensive meal but the quality lived up to the cost. Solidly recommended.

Terrible service. They had a guy serving us with the looks of a waiter turned overnight somelier in southern france, but never saw it maybe. He was so rude, so arrogant to us, he presented our food by only telling us the name of the dish (like that is duck). He didn't even know english well enough to present the dishes, and did not want to give us a dessert menu saying arrongantly that "he is the menu" and we weren't able to order a dessert even if we wanted because we did not understand anything he said and it the music was so loud we could barely hear him. I saw the michelin star that will never come. We only eat in michelin guide restaurants in europe but because he sensed our accent his behaviour became racist. I could see he treated the locals so well and us so bad. It is a place with a racist vibe. Food was ok, but nothing special. Tourist racist trap.

An excellent restaurant with interesting selection of seafood dishes, attentive service, incredibly delicious desserts It’s better to book a table in advance.

Great food in the heart of the Old Montreal. Very fresh seafood. Expensive. Deserts were beyond any expectations.
