I went to this restaurant yesterday
Here is my comments:
The restaurant need more lights indoors
Halim are good but can be improved because too much meat fats
Service too slow for a restaurant that has barely few customer dining in
And prices are similar to eating in a 5 stars

The culinary experience at this restaurant is truly exceptional, with a diverse menu that boasts outstanding flavors of the Mauritian island and creativity. However, the atmosphere falls short of complementing the exquisite cuisine, lacking the ambiance one might expect for such a culinary delight. Despite this, the outstanding food alone makes it a worthwhile dining destination.

Food is great. The owner is busy trying to do everything by himself. So it can be a long wait. Good idea to call and order before going.

As a Mauritian student in Canada, I often get homesick for authentic Mauritian food, especially when there are no nearby restaurants. So when my friend recommended Gourmets des Iles in Montreal, I couldn't resist trying it.

I ordered some childhood favorites to reminisce. The mine bouille with chicken, a tender and flavorful dish with fragrant spices, vegetables, and rich broth, brought back memories of a trip to Saint Pierre in 2014. It artfully captured the flavors and made me grateful for the nostalgic experience. The side dish, arouille (taro fritters), perfectly replicated the flavors my aunt used to make every weekend, crispy on the outside and soft inside. The heavenly rose and vanilla-flavored alouda, a lighter version of falooda, complemented the meal.

Restaurants like Gourmets des Iles, specializing in authentic food from back home, are a true blessing. Thank you for the nostalgic journey, Gourmets des Iles! Highly recommended for Mauritian food, even beyond their menu!

Awful and disappointed would be too soft. Clumsily inherent and just unthoughtful cosmetic; it is culinarily insipid and morally insidious whether a noodles dish to a dholl puri passing by a gato pima which I ordered.it is, all things considered, the worst Mauritian food/hospitality in the world as well as the longest wait to be served. “After I've paid, there is the unshakeable sense that I've been scammed". At these prices, everything should be exquisite, which it very much is not.it really seemed to me like there was another agenda, not as it was primarily supposed to be which is to served just good food/service to the clients … this experience of dining at Gourmets des Iles was solely ta disrespect to the Chef profession and the Mauritian Cuisine…for sure, I will never come back, its a personal restraining order I’ve imposed on myself for Gourmets des Iles.

Simple food but tastes incredibly good. This is my first time trying Mauritian cuisine, and it was amazingly good. I highly recommend trying the fried noodles with lamb. Starters are very cheap and if you are going there for the first time, try them all!

Will be back for sure
Only con: food took a while

It was a fantastic experience. The chef was friendly and welcoming. We had fried noodles and dhalpourie, which were super fresh and delicious. I live in Toronto and would return to Montreal to eat from Gourmet des îles in a heartbeat.

I loved everything about this place! As a Mauritian, I got to eat authentic Mauritian dhall puri that I had been craving for a long time! The menu comprises of the most classic Mauritian food items, such as, gateau piment, tarte banane, gateau arouile, boulette, etc. The food was absolutely delicious; big portion, reasonable price! The owner's food expertise was clearly noticeable! I received a warm welcome and the owner was very nice to us. He is also very responsive, so you can call him before you go. I cannot wait to go back!

Incredible food for a great price. The dhall puri was so delicious, I was craving for more the day after. Could not get enough of it. The fried noodles and the gateaux piment are also very delicious options.
A gem of a restaurant in Montreal, it deserves more clients!

OWNER KISSEN ARROGANT. THERE ARE MANY OTHER RESTAURANTS SERVING EXCELLENT MAURITIAN FOOD IN MONTREAL AND AREA!

We drove 30 mins + from the south shore to try this restaurant that is apparently very good. We get there, the sign says open, the outside door is opened, the second door unlock so we go in and owner is just chilling in there telling us it's closed. My girlfriend is mauritian and she started explaining that we drove a long way. That every thing is opened and owner told us to leave. 0 respect, 0 pride in his food and so lazy. This type of person shouldn't be allowed to own a business. It's a shame to this wonderful culture

Wow. Authentic mauritian food indeed. They had all that I have been craving since forever. The taste is just amazing. The dholl puri are silky soft- you can even order for plain frozen ones to stock up if you will. The gateau piment /arrouille / boulettes are soooo fresh and tasty. & what a humble cook/host too. A must for all Mauritians, home sick or not to visit. As for non islanders, the only advice is be careful with the homemade crushed green chilli sauce, delicious but not for amatures if you are not use to the heat, go slow:) I had selected few things (actually most items on the menu) as I was so desperate to taste it all & had the intension of taking pics.but it was all so good that I ended up eating all of it & could not be bothered feeling bad for not sharing with the rest of the family. On the up side, now I will have to go back & stock up for the others. No regrets.

Gourmet Des iles is a Mauritian treasure in Canada. Humble and kind owner who will use his culinary skills to bring you back to our home country. From the starter to the dessert, the quality and tastes of everything is outstanding! Prices are more than reasonable, the service is unmatched and the staff truly cares about your experience. I cannot recommend this restaurant enough! Love this place and will continue to visit.

First time trying out, unfortunately resto was open for takeout only but owner was very nice and suggested we can still eat in.we tried what was available that day, mine frite poulet et oeuf, boulette chouchou et dhol puri. Mine was good but boulette was amazing! Dhol puri was so soft.tried to order the next day but were sold out, will definitely try other items on our next trip.

On y retourne!

This was my first time trying Mauritian food, so I'm definitely no expert, but what I do know is I'm glad I went to Gourmets des Iles. I got the Lamb Dholl Puri, which reminded me of a Caribbean roti, but with a softer, thicker bread. I have never had bread as soft as the dholl puri at Gourmets des Iles. It felt like I was eating a cloud filled with tender, juicy lamb. It was amazing and unlike anything I had ever experienced.
I am excited to come back to Gourmet des Iles soon to try their steamed noodles, which look amazing. One thing to know before going are that you will need a reservation for the busier nights - definitely worth it!
17 April 2020 19:17
The only place where you get the real typical Mauritian food. The noodles are freshly made by the chef and are the best Mauritian style noodles so far in Montreal. Great food but the wait is wayyyyyy tooooo longgg!

Merveilleux repas.
04 July 2019 16:49
Excellent food. The owner makes his own noodles which are thin and very tasty. The starters and "dholl puri" are very good as well. Prices are good, value for money.

The Mauritian food is amazing! It was exactly what I need to scratch my itch for native food!
The food and service are worth the wait while the chef makes the food.
The chef is the host and is very friendly, as well as the waitress.
Definitely, will come back or even order take out! 11/10
