Homewood Suites by Hilton Montreal Downtown

Location is great. It is in the heart of Chinatown and close to a lot of restaurants and shops. The room is nice and spacious. The thing I had issues with was the parking. I paid for parking with the hotel which they said had In and Out privileges, but it did not work. It was a hassle as everything I had to speak with an attendant in the garage to get out. Also the hot tub was not working, which I was really looking forward too. This is one amenity I look for in hotels and the fact that it wasn't available made the stay less enjoyable. Breakfast is decent with a good selection (bacon, eggs, taters, bagels, make your own waffles, fruit, cereal) but if they run out of something close to 10AM when breakfast ends, they will not refill the food, so get up early.

View from our top floor room is fantastic. It has washer/dryer，a small kitchen and a separate bedroom. Each room has a TV. The location is excellent close to many restaurants. The hotel’s underground parking space is small and you need to have room key otherwise won’t be able to enter the elevator.

Good room, my suite was clean and tidy including the fridge, washer, and dryer (no weird smells or anything).

Free breakfast is decent as there were sausages, eggs, cereal, different types of coffee, and make-your-own waffles.

Location is great, Chinatown is right there so lots of options accessible by foot. Can’t beat that!

Only cons I can think of are:

1. You cannot cast/connect mobile apps to the TV.
2. Located beside a highway, so light sleepers I suggest you bring some ear plugs.

We stayed in this hotel for two nights, and everything was going well until we found extremely dirty underwear in the tissue box in our room, which we had been using for two days. We tried to talk to the manager and asked her to check if it was possible to figure out how it happened, and the most important thing was if it was possible to do some tests to figure out if there was any infection, disease, or virus. We told her that if you are not able to do it, let us do it ourselves because our daughters used the tissues inside the box and it was a very important health issue. She took the underwear and box and apologised only by word, and then she emailed us, "There is nothing I can do for you. " After a week, I got problems with my skin around my eyes and lips, and the doctor said it could be a virus. I am still suffering from it. We tried several times to reach out to the manager by calling and texting, but there was no answer or response. It is such a shame for Hilton that they didn’t even call us to apologise for such an important issue and didn’t even give back our money or any compensation to apologise. I'm really, really sorry for you, Ms. Catherine; you don’t know anything about management or customer service, and I'm so sorry for whomever made you a manager.

Great service and amazing location. The suites are Immaculate and well equipped for a comfortable stay. Views are great

Nice stay, but bathroom issues, WIfi issues, and the pool was closed.
On the upside location location, and we had a room with a balcony - really cool.
Our room faced old town via highway, a lot of noise but I am used to that and it was worth it for the views

Nice clean rooms, recently renovated. Kitchen, washer/dryer, and plenty of space. The cleaning room service is a bit hit and miss and location is not ideal to walk out at night. Restaurant has not much selection and is expensive but the pasta and pizza were made with care and the service is very good. Breakfast has a good selection but lacks on warm food. 24/7 coffee is appreciated to fight jet lag. And the desk in the room is large to work. Free wifi though is a pain as it keeps getting disconnected.

Was assigned a beautiful 1-BR suite on the 14th floor. The room was impeccably clean, quiet and overall very comfortable. And the view was gorgeous!
As a frequent traveler I really appreciated being bumped to this gorgeous room. Although i am a HH Diamond Member I almost never feel that my status is acknowledged, so thank you!

I don't have the words to describe how enjoyable our experience was. 10/10. Not a single thing was wrong with any part of the experience.

Nice place. The location is great. Rooms are fine. Pool and sauna are on the roof, so good for summer and fall. Didn't try food, so I won't add in my review. We booked the suit on the top floor. Skyline from the balcony was spectacular. Don't look down though. Most of the attractions are nearby and won't need a car. Nearby nightlife is a swoon.
The hotel is in the China town so if you are a Chinese, Korean food enthusiast, its a must staycation for you.

Beautiful ambience, and the excellent facilities, great location (central to most important places around Downtown), very professional and friendly staff. Great breakfast too.

Service is great. I noticed a few items missing in my room on check-in, and it was rectified immediately. Breakfast starts at 0630 but they were not ready on time. The waffles irons were not heated, so it caused issues for users trying to make waffles, and the hot food was late being put out. Ay 0635, there were only eggs. Otherwise, once I was able to make waffles everything was good.

Our room wasn’t ready when it was suppose to but not a big deal. Great location downtown Montreal, very modern with all appliances, underground parking as well.

The hotel location is great for sightseeing - close to subway and bus stops. The employees are friendly and helpful.

Unfortunately, while the rooms/units might seem nice upon checking in, we ran into some major issues:
- the blackout curtains in the bedroom are a joke. The bedroom is much brighter than the rest of the unit by far. We had a baby with us for the week and could never get her enough sleep.
- the vehicle noises from the highway and streets around the hotel are so, so loud. Good luck trying to get any sleep without ear plugs and a sound machine. Unless you're only interested in sleeping between the hours of 1-6am (at best) on weeknights, I really wouldn't recommend this hotel
- the washer/dryer unit, which was a necessity for us, smelled strongly of mildew. It's obvious that there has been no effort to maintain cleanliness between stays.
- the floors clearly had not been swept or cleaned - random loose bits of gravel and other materials kept stabbing our feet as we walked around inside.

If you don't mind any of the above, then the hotel is a great find. For us, it wasn't.

Overall our stay was good but there were few areas where they need improvement. You can see that it’s new hotel and their room service needs more attention to details. People choose this hotel for longer stay vs some other companies due to room cleaning and service. If that is not up to standard you will lose customers to companies such as Airbnb.

Location was great, close to many sightseeing spots and many restaurants in Chinatown.

Check in experience wasn't great, the night shift staff was borderline rude and we did not feel welcomed whatsoever after the long flight into Montreal. No greetings, just straight up 'need your ID', 'need your credit card'. No explanation, no thank yous, no please. Did she pass the hospitality training?

Was a shock to learn we had to provide cad$100 PER NIGHT deposit, did not get that memo during the booking at all. That's a big chunk of holiday monies that could not be used until after check out.

The day shift staff had better hospitality skills.

Spacious room. We had a good view of the old Town area. A bit noisy since it is next to the highway, need ear plugs if you are a light sleeper. Bed was good with good firmness but feather pillows were too soft. Housekeeping service inconsistent - good at making the bed but more often than not they always forgot to properly replenish the kitchenette or the bathroom. Had to reach out to front desk for supplies after a long day of outing almost every day. The afternoon staff were always busy checking guests in, attention span not the best, had to repeat 2-3 times and would still get it wrong or simply did not deliver. Phone greetings not professional and fairly abrupt especially when they know the calls were from existing guests. Again no greetings, just straight up 'yes? ' or 'hold please' then silence.

Breakfast was included. The hot meals option was very limited, mainly eggs and potato gems. Bacon would be on alternate day, lean and dry. Some mushrooms or tomatoes would have been great but sadly no. Croissants were good but they also offered store bought cakes.not expected from Hilton. The best parts were probably the waffles - you made it fresh yourself. Breakfast staff were diligent and great at clearing/ cleaning the tables, replenishing the food stations for new guests wanting breakfast. Round of applause for them!

Overall experience was average, not really a Hilton experience.

Well appointed, lovely obliging staff who were super-helpful, late checkout and very late checkin, go to breakfast early to avoid huge crowds, could do with some written instructions on operating the cooker. We managed without asking reception but thought it would be good to have a bit of in-room guidance.

Stayed here for 5 days while visiting Montréal for the first time. Very friendly service, clean room, and the egg chair on the balcony was an awesome touch. The location of the hotel is within walking distance to many places, including the Vieux-Port de Montréal. The pool and hot tubs offered city views and were very clean. I hope to go back to visit and would love to stay here again.
