Cuisine délicieuse! Service sympa, mais un peu brouillon (on a oublié notre commande, attente un peu longue, on a décidé de laisser tomber le dessert.)

Très bons repas. Les portions semblent petites de prime abord mais on se rassasie assez vite.

La constance et la qualité des plats ainsi que du service est hallucinant. Un bonheur à chaque fois. Une des meilleurs expérience gastronomique à Québec

Très bonne adresse proposant de savoureux plats (principalement des ramens). La formule du midi est parfaite avec une petite entrée et un petit dessert. Le cadre est sobre et sophistiqué. Il est idéalement placé dans le quartier de Saint-Roch.

Cocktails were absolutely delicious. Ordered some karage on the side to snack on, pretty good as well.

Nourriture vraiment excellente tout comme les cocktails! Nous avons laissé notre serveur choisir les repas et les drinks pour nous et ce fût parfait! Seule bémol la sale a manger et les toilettes sont sale.

You can’t come to Quebec City and not eat here. Food, service, atmosphere, and sakes were all amazing. Can’t wait to come back!

I decided to try Izakaya Honō after javing a good experience at his twin brother Honō Ramen. I would say I have mixed feelings about the place.

The drinks and food are good and the service is nice and friendly. Though the portions are quite small and I find the food expensive compared to other local options. I was still hungry when I left, even if my partner and I ordered 2 appetizers and 4 plates. I think it is a place that I'ld recommend for a drink and a snack rather than a whole diner, especially if you like to endulge a bit more.

So, I have nothing to complain about the food quality, but in terms of value for your money, there are way better options around.

Service "su'a coche", plats très variés et uniques, bonne ambiance et grand choix de whisky japonais. À essayer sans aucun doute, une expérience sans égal.

Nous avons manger au bar en nous laissant guider par notre barman a travers le menu et les cocktails! Super expérience!

Nourriture exceptionnelle, personnel accueillant et efficace, très belle ambiance. Mini bémol: il fait très chaud aux places du comptoir cuisine, surtout pendant l'été. Nous avons tout de même adoré l'expérience et je le conseille à tou (te) s! Un incontournable à Québec!

Le menue avec pas beaucoup de choix plat a partager pour une petite brochette de poulet et de saumon deux dompling avec une bière 75.00 wow allé pas la si vous avez faim plutôt des bouchés a partager et pas grand choix après il nous ont demandé de quitté après avoir payé la facture parceque il avait d'autre personne a 8 heure il il avait encore d'autre place dans le restaurent très décevant toute l'expérience

It was a decent Japanese restaurant but in the end, I was left wanting more.

I was hoping that the marinated quail eggs were soft boiled with runny yolk but they were hard boiled instead which was disappointing.

The calamari salad was interesting and I personally liked the sauce and the interesting texture with the half boiled potatoes.

But my favourite was the mushroom tempura. It was tasty with good crispy breading but I wish that they did a more traditional Japanese tempura sauce.

The agedashi tofu was pretty good and I liked that they provided a fresh bonito flakes that we can add ourselves.

The yakitori skewers were the most disappointing, I think. The chicken skin was a bit too salty and the leeks were too tough and not sweet enough.

The curry as an entree was pretty good, especially with the chicken karage for additional texture.

I had mixed experience with the food but the staff was very friendly and I can see that they are trying to make good Japanese food so I think that it’s still worth giving them a shot!

Pretty authentic for an Izakaya house smack dab in Québec City. Place is rather small so be prepared to wait. The best place is at the kitchen bar where you can see the chefs preparing your orders. It can get pretty warm inside because it’s an open kitchen, which can be quite welcoming in the winter. Not mind-blowing but otherwise a great place to introduce yourself to Japanese izakaya.

J'y allais sans grande motivation pour accompagner ma fille qui est fan de cuisine japonaise, ce qui n'est pas du tout mon cas.et j'ai découvert tout un univers surprenant de saveurs inconnues et délicieuses! Le serveur et les cuisiniers qui venaient présenter les plats à la table étaient très sympathiques. Ambiance un peu bruyante, mais néanmoins très agréable. Une belle découverte qui vaut le détour!

Amazing food and great service. Highly recommend quail eggs in miso, also the Marinated Wagyu beef skewers. We had several items and shared as a group.

One of the really nice places to have dinner where you could actually get in without a reservation. I came here because it was listed in almost every website I read with the search terms "best restaurants in Quebec City". Don't expect fine dining kind of table service but the typical izakaya setting with loud conversations, oily atmosphere due to the food preparation method and comfort food.

The key feature here is umami so you got to be comfortable with strong flavours and fresh ingredients combined. There is a slight local twist on the food here but it works.

They do provide shoyu but unless you are eating sashimi, the rest of the dishes are very well seasoned with very strong umami from shishito, ponzu, bonito etc. Very comfortable setting and don't expect a romantic setting is you are bringing your date expect to have a quiet romantic time. This place is great for small gatherings too with larger tables.

I don't recall seeing any draft beers but they do have bottled beers, special cocktails and other Japanese alcohol. Almost over ordered because the food was really nice.

L’endroit par excellence pour déguster des plats japonais. Les brochettes sont délicieuses et particulièrement celles au flanc de porc et aux champignons. Personnel super gentil!

Hono was the highlight of our time in Quebec city. We didn’t have a reservation and they looked pretty busy, but allowed us to wait for a seat and we ended up with the best one in the house (one of only 2 tables available outside).
The staff were lovely and well versed in the menu. The sake was delicious and the food was spot on too.
We ordered the quail eggs (make sure to try the marinade with the eggs, shumai-dumplings, karage, tataki, rice with fish, crab tempura, sashimi and dessert. The crab was the only thing that was mediocre. Loved this experience and grateful to the staff for accommodating us.

Our experience is that old quebec can be moody as per the french attitude (expected and familiar as I lived in France), but these guys were a special exception and perhaps the restoration needed.

I guess this place can please people who haven't tried a lot of Asian cuisine.

Quelle expérience! Les serveurs sont adorables et la cuisine est fabuleuse, le poisson est très frais et savoureux. Et les prix sont plus que raisonnable pour avoir aussi bien mangé.

Une belle surprise! Les gens semblent avoir du plaisir à y travailler et c’est contagieux. Bel ambiance, cocktails et plats savoureux!

We had high hopes because of all the great reviews we read, but the food is actually just decent (or meh) and not up to par tbh. The crab tempura is oily, the sauce is salty and everything just felt basic. It lacks the originality of an Izakaya and it’s quite disappointing. However, the pork belly is hands down the best item we had. Everything is also pretty expensive for the quantity and quality of the food we get. If you haven’t had Japanese food before, you’ll probably like this a lot more but if you frequently enjoy Asian food, this may not be the best for you.

Excellent food, all their vegetarian options were very tasty. Great cocktails as well! Must go when you are in Québec city! Keep up the good work.

We made reservations for our first night in Quebec, only a half block from our hotel.

The food was amazing! Great flavors and textures. We had bar side seats. Delicious cocktails.

We'll definitely be coming back!

I have been to Japan and although the food isn't exactly on par with what I have tasted abroad, it had a very nice local twist to it using ingredients available here. The combination of flavors was amazing and the experience was great resembling a real izakaya.

The concept is fantastic, sharing multiple plates among friends really made the night memorable! The bartender who made the drinks was exceptional. Our waiter was friendly, knowledgeable and his suggestions were spot on. The atmosphere was perfect and the prices were well justified for the quality of the food and the portion sizes. Would highly recommend

Nous avons pris un bento cru pour deux c’était vraiment excellent et nous avons aussi pris le karaage (vraiment bon) les shitakes frits et les dumplings végé

Désolé pour le précédent rating. Je n'ai eu aucune connaissance de ceci, j'imagine que c'est un pocket rating que vous avez reçu. J'adore le hono à chaque expérience.

Nourriture très bonne. Le service était très bon aussi. Une belle expérience pour le retour du confinement. J'enlève une étoile parce qu'on m'a proposé de l'eau pétillante en commençant le repas sans me préciser que celle-ci était 5$. Dommage car j'aurais mis un 4 étoiles mais je vois que d'autres comme moi ont eu aussi des frais sans être averti.

Toujours un plaisir d'aller y manger. Encore plus après la longue fermeture. Employés très charmants et plats succulents. On en roule les yeux de plaisir:)

Je suis une habituée du Hono le midi. Les places sont rares mais si vous avez la chance d’en avoir une vous allez vous régaler c’est garanti! J’ai adoré m’assoir au comptoir de la cuisine pour y vivre l’expérience à son paroxysme. La bouffe est succulente. Je recommande le bol de yakitori surtout s’il y a du flanc de porc ou du saumon. La crème brûlée au matcha est simplement fabuleuse! Bon appétit

Les repas sont succulents, l'ambiance est super. On a adoré le crabe a carapace molle, les dumplings, et le saumon (miso sake). Parfois un peu d'attente pour avoir une place mais ça vaut la peine d'attendre

Amazing little spot. It is (as many said) quite noisy, but if you have the chance to be seated next to the kitchen, quite comfortable noise level. The only downside is sitting right by the restroom. Otherwise very tasty food. Everything tasted fresh, not too expensive for the size of each plate. 90$ for two, 5 small plates and 4 pints of Sapporo is very reasonable. Many vegetarian options as well. Our waiter was very kind and friendly, food is served when ready, so it's always really warm. Loved the fact that plates are brought up one by one in no particular order. We were there for quite some time and had a really fun night. 10/10 will go again to try something else on the menu.

Atmosphere is very good and the service is excellent. Very nice place to check out if you are with a small group of friends or you want to a few different things by yourself.
