Hôtel des Coutellier

This is quite a charming little hotel and the staff are very courteous and helpful. They had informed us ahead of our visit that it can be very difficult to secure reservations at restaurants around Christmas and provided a list of the ones that were operating during the season. Our room was quite comfortable, and refreshed daily, coordinated for when we were out. Breakfast provided by 7am, in insulated bags hung outside each room, consisted of muffins, breads and croissants with jams and butter, bottles of orange juice, and cream for the coffee machine in room. On Christmas morning, we found chocolate bombs with our breakfast as well - what a wonderful little surprise! Our room was stocked with a mini bar, fridge, microwave and toaster oven. Plates, cups and silverware are in the room. Considering the convenient location, comfort and cleanliness, and the warmth exuded by the staff, we would certainly book with them again on our next visit to Old Quebec!

Bel hôtel face à la gare et au vieux port. Bien situé avec stationnement à 17.25$ juste en face. Belle chambre spacieuse et confortable. Propre et bon service. Mais les trois étoiles sont pour cette odeur désagréable d’humidité qu’on perçoit dès la réception et qui persiste partout dans l’hôtel. C’est malheureux car elle mériterait mieux.

Nous avons passé un super moment dans cet hôtel, on se croirait en famille. Le quartier est super, nous parlons du vieux Québec of course tellement beau, monuments, restaurants, pharmacie, faire quelques courses. Les chambres sont aux top, literies, le petit déjeuner le matin accroché à notre porte. L’équipe est tellement serviable, Pauline, mon copain « le chef », tout le personnel est génial. Une mention spéciale pour « le chef » qui est venu à la gare me rapporter mes bottines. On vous adore. Un grand merci pour accueil et votre gentillesse,

Positive overall experience for a 3 stars hotel but a lot of improvements to handle.
+: the front desk is absolutely formidable (welcoming, enthusiastic and very helpful), location is great, parking is easy
-: our rooms were not very clean and the linen a bit smelly, the breakfast is very limited (but delivered to your room).
So I would have rated 5 stars if the cleanliness was up to the expectations.

We stayed here for 2 nights and really enjoyed it. The room was clean and comfortable and having breakfast delivered to the door was a real treat. The location is on the edge of the old city and very quiet. The staff were really accommodating with excellent restaurant recommendations, parking and generally friendly service. We would stay here again!

Excellent place to stay. It was quiet and had great breakfasts. Would stay here again if we come back to Quebec City.

Even the Hotel’s location is not in the center of tourist area, but it comfortable, convenient, wonderful employees, quiet at night, and serves breakfast in your room, very impressed.

Hotel is centrally located: we have easily walked to St-Jean-Baptiste and St-Roch besides Old Quebec. That means access to more affordable restaurants. It's easy to get to this hotel from the airport via public transport, and to head for our next destination via the train station that is round the corner. The colors and furnishings in our room are on the darker side; bathroom amenities are adequately provided and clean. I used the gym - which is clean and provides a good range of dumbbells. I remember fondly of its staff: everyone is eager to give tips on what to check out in the city, eager to chat, and cheerful. Due to my early flight, I got in a few hours before 3: 00p. The staff helped me with an early check-in that gives me an extra 1/2 day to check out the sights worry free. I am glad I picked this hotel during my 4 days in Quebec City.

Room is very clean. Breakfast by the door. 10mins walking to old Quebec main attractions. The French Legende fine dining next door is good too.

Un oubli car cela va faire un an que nous sommes restés à l'hôtel durant 2 jours. Il manque 1 étoile à cause des points suivants:
1) Le bruit dans la chambre: cela nous a pris un certain temps pour réaliser qu'il venait du clapet sur le toit. On nous avait dit que cela serait arrangé mais cela n'a pas eu lieu ;2) La hauteur du lit: quand j'ai demandé un marche pied, on m'a suggéré de prendre le banc sur lequel on place les bagages et de grimper dessus, pas pratique du tout. 3) La manette de TV: même le personnel n'était pas habitué à la régler (la TV se dérèglait à chaque fois qu'on la fermait). Il y en a même un qui n'a même pas réussi à la faire fonctionner. 4) Le manque de personnel: la patience est la mère de toutes les vertus. 5) Le stationnement: n'est pas toujours évident (selon la météo).
Suggestions: 1) Avoir une 'check list' afin de s'assurer que tout est conforme (e.g. Lors de la 2ème journée, on avait oublié de remettre du café et du lait/crème dans la chambre). 2) Prévoir les pics des heures d'arrivées / de départ afin d'avoir du personnel supplémentaire de disponible ou bien simplifier les procédures.
Enfin, les points forts: 1) Un personnel super sympathique et courtois, 2) Un petit déjeuner délicieux, 3) Une chambre et une salle de bain propres, 4) Une literie de qualité, 5) Une excellente localisation (à cause de la hausse des prix, je n'y suis pas retournée lors de mon récent passage à Québec).

Older boutique hotel with friendly staff. We had a few issues during our stay, but management did their best to address them. We'd recommend better pillows and more thorough housekeeping, but otherwise, a comfortable stay in a convenient location. Breakfast delivered to your room was a nice touch. We especially enjoyed the zucchini bread. Loved the functional windows to let fresh air in. We didn't utilize this during our stay, but there was an extensive menu offering movie nights in, board games, etc.that would be particularly nice for longer stays or those with children. We requested a top-floor room with a view of the harbor, which was beautiful!

Absolutely the Best of all Our expectations, great service, and real clean. We will come back and stay more days.

My wife and I went on our honeymoon here. What a perfect place to share our love. We will definitely be back!

We had an amazing stay here. The staff was super friendly. The room was beautiful and clean. It was also right near all the main attractions! I just wish they didn't charge us for tooth paste!

My daughter and I stayed for a week in the summer of 2023.

Pros: The room was very clean and comfortable and larger than it appeared in the photos on their website.
The breakfast hanging outside the door allowed us to get ready while eating or eat at different times which was very convenient. It is a continental breakfast which may not suit everyone but was perfect for us.
The STAFF was outstanding. Pauline was unbelievably helpful with several issues we had and extraordinarily kind. Justin was very patient and helpful with our many questions.
Location is very convenient, but in Lower Town, so you will be walking uphill frequently. Well you are in Quebec City after all.

Cons: I sleep hot and the air conditioner was not cold enough for my comfort. My daughter was fine and I assume most people wouldn't be bothered. Especially other times of year.

Overall I was extremely pleased with our stay and would wholeheartedly recommend it to others.

This hotel was lovely and everything we expected. Staff was very helpful. Location was great, a nice walk to Old Quebec. It was quiet at night and bed was comfortable. Tavern next door was great and was fun to meet locals. If you like non brand name places this hotel is for you.

Small but sufficient room. Comfy bed and relaxing rocking chairs.

Breakfast - I wish more hotels did it the way this one does. And those pastries are superb!

Get rid of the old keurig and have a nespresso machine instead and it will elevate the experience.

This hotel came highly recommended and given the rating it has, I had certain expectations but unfortunately I was dissapointed. When it comes to the service, it was friendly and they were able to accommodate a very early check-in at no extra cost. The hotel lobby is quite small and so was my room. Furniture are older style and quite basic and not particularly comfortable. The bathroom was was a bit small, in need of an update and the layout made it less practical.
When I checked in, my room was done but there were still traces of long standing dust in certain area. Breakfast is provided but it was not particularly appealing or cared for. It was made of croissants in paper towels left in a cooler bag with yogurt and some toast.
Walls are thin and there was a family with kids running around on the floor generating a lot of noise throughout the weekend.
Overall I did not think this stay was good value for money. I stayed 2 nights at the same cost as a nice 4 stars hotel midtown Manhattan but in setting that felt more like a motel.

The staff and amenities, breakfast and location were all……perfect. And that’s an understatement

This is a terrific hotel in a great location. Our room was beautiful and well maintained and the staff at the front desk were sooooo attentive! And bilingual. A special shout-out to Pauline, thanks for making us feel so welcome.

Beautiful cutest hotel! It was my favorite during our vacation in Canada! I love that it felt rustic yet chic.the room was super cozy i loved having a window really close to my bed it made it feel like I was in a home. The staff was super friendly. Also, I liked that they delivered your breakfast to your bedroom every morning they left it by our door so no need to rush downstairs for food Oh and I almost forgot they have the coolest mirror in their bathroom.light is turned on by touchscreen technology.great lighting for makeup
