Hotel Place d'Armes

The location is amazing. Central to multiple tourist areas within short walking distance and 2 blocks from the metro for easy connection to any other locations. Staff was courteous and accommodating without being intrusive. I would definitely stay there again.
It is up the hill from the metro station, so if you have mobility issues, you should reach out to staff to find out their accommodations.

Très bon hôtel situé en plein dans le vieux Montréal. Les chambres sont très bien. Le roof top est très sympathique, on peut y passer une très bonne soirée.

I will always recommend Place D'Armes to people coming to visit Montréal. It's in the heart of the city; Old Montréal, with all it's charm and cobble-stone streets.
The hotel service is everything you want out of a fancy hotel and more. Starting with the valet service that comes and helps you with your bags, to the front desk, to the cleanliness of the hotel, to the amazing restaurants. The rooms have a charm to them that is reminiscent of being in a hotel in Europe.

I booked a basic Queen room for my wedding night for 2 nights, not telling the hotel that I was staying with my new husband. When they saw me check-in makeup done, with my dress over my shoulder, and bridesmaids beside me, they upgraded me to a King Suite with 2 bathrooms, a jacuzzi, and den. The room was SO gorgeous that we did the bridal photos in there beside the window drapes of the floor-to-ceiling windows. It was so magical and so nice of them.

Best location. You’ll have short walking access to old port. Best service, they clean your room twice a day and their staff are super friendly and helpful. Their Spa had a 24 hour cancellation policy but we overslept and tried to cancel 22 hours before the appointment and they wanted to do only a 50% refund, so we talked with the Hotel reception and they took care of it. We spent 7 nights there in August 2023 and will definitely recommend this place.

Beautiful room and included breakfast was frankly one of the best meals we had around! We did have some issues with A/C and thermostat that was initially not dealt with wonderfully by the weekend manager, although follow up discussion with Renaud, the front desk director, was excellent, we were even given voucher for another stay there which I'm looking forward to.

My biggest issue is that while the location is close to old Montreal, the lack of sleep sucked. Two clubs across the street brought constant noise through the glass windows. We weren’t able to fall asleep until 5: 00am, just constant foot passengers, taxis dropping people off. For the price you pay to not get a good sleep not worth it, no matter how beautiful the property is.

I hate to even write this having previously enjoyed a fantastic stay here years ago, …. BUT something needs to be done about the unaffiliated nightclub (Lola Lola Lolita) across the street! When we stayed here in the past, it wasn’t summer and/or our room faced a different side. This time, we were faced with pulsing Latin music and loud voices in the street. I called the front desk and was told the club closes at 3 AM! They said they would ask them to close the doors of the club. Hours later, and still wide awake, I went to the front desk and asked to be moved. They moved us to an upgraded suite. Sounds great except for the fact that the air conditioning was sub par and because it was two stories, the room was terribly hot. A mechanic came to service it the next day, but it did nothing to resolve the issue. It’s a shame because the place is nice, location is great, and the staff is excellent, but the nightclub is going to ruin their business and their reputation. I’m not sure how they could put people into rooms overlooking Rue St Jacques with good conscience.

Three stars because housekeeping showed up about 8: 30 a.m, then at approximately 10: 30 a.m, when I spoke to her and she agreed to be back at 1: 00 p.m. Giving us enough time to check out; however, a young receptionist called our room at approximately 12: 30 p.m. Asking when we were leaving, then a few minutes later a young lady showed up to our room asking if we were leaving.
A few minutes later a young man was at our door asking us again. He did apologize as he said he was not aware that we had talked to so many others.
We felt like we were getting pushed out when it was agreed 1: 00 p.m. Was acceptable time to check out at.
During check in were told to come back later than we were supposed to check in. We thought nothing bad as they saved our luggage and got start our exploration of Montreal.
But in retrospect, they may need to look at their check in and check out arrangements.
We did have dinner at the rooftop twice and it is nice, the food was on point, and staff accommodating although we did not have a reservation.
The room was nice and spacious (see pictures).
Noise was not an issue as we stayed there during the week on our way to Quebec. We were on the 4th floor facing the Rue Norte Dame and could hear some voices in the am, not too loud.
Valet service was great. The staff was nice and helpful.
If looking into staying here, ask that staff communicate with each other regarding check out or you may be woken up early by housekeeping on the day of check out.
We have stayed at nicer hotels and not so nice hotels and none have done this to us before.

Excellent hotel. My family just spent 3 nights here and I will certainly be back. We had 2 rooms and both rooms were clean, modern and very spacious. Service was top notch. From the moment we checked in to when we left, we felt welcomed and looked after. The only down side is that they are across from a night club, you can hear the music (if you are a light sleeper). It doesn’t stop until about 2 or 3am! So bring earplugs!

Overall was a great stay.

Pros:
Staff were great, clean rooms, loved the restaurant and especially the location. Really enjoyed the complimentary coffee and fruit water offered in the lobby.

Cons:
Elevator during our stay was squeaking and making weird sounds during the day and night. One of our four nights, housekeeping didn’t give us toilet paper or body soap when making the room although we had none.

Another thing I believe the hotel should make an effort to reserve some tables for hotel guests in there rooftop terrace. We were told rsvp is only done through the OpenTable site. Hotel guests should have some priority.

I’m on the 5th floor but I might as well be sleeping on the street. I can hear EVERYTHING on the ground floor (hotel is across from a loud bar) and being this is the second night here, I know I won’t sleep until 3: 00 am when the bars close. Super disappointed in this hotel as it’s supposed to be among the best but it’s lacking in both service and build. New windows are a must in order to insulate the sound. Will never stay here again.

Update: The hotel promised us a full refund on one night but they only issued a 50% refund on 1 night. Total disappointment.

Clean comfy room, staff was the most helpful I've experienced since traveling resumed after covid; they checked rooms again late in the afternoon to resupply towels, it honestly was amazing. The youthful staff was very polite and attentive and seemed to care, unlike their peers in the states.

I want to give this Hotel a 5 star for the very good experience! The location is perfect, the staff are so friendly and professional, Valet parking is so convenient and safe.
Rooms are big, and very comfortable and clean beds and sheets. Lots of space in the washroom as well.

Lovely hotel! Staff very sweet and accommodating…especially Sam, the valet. Gave us a great gift store recommendation and even ran back to our valeted vehicle (twice) when I forgot a bag. Delicious food at the Brasserie and room service for breakfast was a treat. Simple elegance and close to everything. Only gave 4 instead of 5 stars due to limited reading lighting in bed and if you’re not used to city life, it is pretty noisy with typical city sounds. Died down around 11 pm though. Overall a great experience. Oh yes, and the chocolates and water bottles delivered early evening were a delightful surprise. Recommend!

Rooms are updated and comfortable. Staff at reception are very pleasant. Conference room was spacious and food was great.
