Ichigo Ichie Izakaya

I’ve been to this restaurant 3 times and it’s been an exceptional experience every time. The food is fantastic and I must admit to mostly coming back for the shiso sours (my new favourite cocktail). What really stands out to me is the service, though. 2 of the 3 times I’ve been there, our server Kathy made the experience so much better! Between remembering my drink order from the first time I came, to recommending the best vegetarian options, to doting on our table in a timely, efficient manner, I’ll keep coming back just to sit in her section!

Lively Izakaya with some very good food options. The bao, chicken skewers and cod were standouts.

Facilement un de mes restos préférés à Montréal. C’est festif, la nourriture est de qualité et c’est abordable. Après avoir goûté presque tout le menu, je peux dire que les beignets de pieuvre, le tofu agedashi et la morue sont particulièrement délicieux.

Le seul point faible du restaurant est le manque de choix de cocktails et de boissons sans alcool, mais ma requête de mocktail a été prise au sérieux et il n’était pas cher.

En bref, j’adore le Ichigo et j’y retournerai encore & encore. A true favorite.

The food was okay at best, and FAR too over priced. The waitress was extremely kind, however I probably wouldn’t go back.

Après avoir fait le ramen festival dans les 2 dernières semaines, je revalide qu’Ichigo Ichie est dans une catégorie à part. Absolument délicieux et sans équivoque. Cette cuisine remporte la palme du ramen. Un de mes meilleur restaurant à Montréal.

Great place! The ramen is great of course but the cod and the black sesame tiramisu are not to be missed. The real standout is the amazing service (Sue was great!). Definitely worth the visit and a great cuisine change if you get tired of the French food.

What an awesome experience. The ramen noodles here are some of the best we’ve ever had. We showed up 5 minutes before the kitchen closed and they were super accommodating. Will come back again soon.

Really delicious food (had their version of poutine) and amazing cocktails (Nashi is the best i’ve ever tasted). The atmosphere is nice too since it’s usually busy and bustling (if you like that). One think I disliked is their uncomfortable chair and wiggling tables.

With limitation of 50% of capacity, instead of distancing the tables, they just closed up half of the restaurant which defies the purpose of precautions of distanciation. So the 50% that was still open was packed with customers.

As for food, after the line up to get in, we are informed that they won't be serving the Izakaya menu but only ramen. It wasn't properly prepared and it shouldn't be served. I was highly disappointed by the food and the whole experience.

Première expérience dans ce resto. ça m'a rappeleé plusieurs restos visités au Japon. Les plats dégustés étaient un pur délice, notre serveuse extrêmement gentille, le seul bémol: les bancs sont assez inconfortables.mais j'y retournerai malgré tout!

Almost everything was great, avoid the Teriyaki chicken with your ramen. Friendly staff, quick, and professional.

Nice and cozy place, we went there on Thursday and it was packed, means it's a great spot. Portions are big and priced reasonably. Might be an issue to find parking tho

Best ramen I’ve ever tasted in Montreal? I was able to custom the broth, noodles and ingredients to have exactly what I like without things I don’t. The drinks were strong enough to feel it but not too much to taste it and well balanced ️ overall excellent experience, although be ready to wait in line outside!

*RSVP do not include ramen, so yes you do have to wait in line if you wanna taste it.

Now, I know what you’re thinking, “Ramen? In Montreal? ”

I had the same thought as well. But after numerous recommendations, I had to check it out for myself - and let me tell you, it did not disappoint.

The ramen broth was something I have not tasted before. Savoury, and rich, yet not too fatty and very well balanced. The noodles were cooked to perfection and the chashu was not fatty but still very juicey. The marinated eggs were what surprised me the most, though. It was much sweeter than other ramen eggs I had before but it complemented the broth and the noodle perfectly. I recommend that you get the whole egg because I regret not doing so myself.

We also ordered the grilled black cod which was a bit expensive in my opinion but the fish was superb. It was very oily and fatty but I think the flavour of the skin really did it for me.

Finally the chashu don was up. It was very tasty and filling as well. But after the high of the ramen and the black cod, the don paled in comparison. If you’re really itching for a bowl of rice, it’ll do the job - but the restaurant is known for their ramens, not the don.

We also had couple cocktails to go with our meals. I’m not a liquor expert so I really can’t speak much on them but my favourite of the night was the shiso sour. It gave me the buzz that I needed with the perfect balance of sourness and the minty flavour of the shiso leaf. Mr. Miyagi was also quite interesting with a strong flavour of ginger and a punch of alcohol to boot.

Overall, I came away quite impressed with the quality of food and the overall atmosphere. Next time I go, I will definitely try the izakaya style food as well but I strongly recommend that you start out with the ramens because I’m wanting more as I write this review!

Really enjoyed my experience here, everything blew me away.

-The tofu salad was surprisingly a larger portion than I expected and tasted delicious. It was healthy with just the right amount of crunch to make u feel like you're not eating a salad.
-The Gobo was another delicious healthy-not healthy combo
-I should've gotten my own mochi waffle matcha dessert instead of sharing with my partner.
-I might have been too full to enjoy my ramen experience as much as I could but the noodles definitely clung onto the delicious creamy soup
-We arrived, gave our name with no reservations but we were still seated within 10 minutes on a Sunday night.
-You can make a reservation to ensure you get seated properly.
-I was exceptionally thirsty after a long day and the waiter kept refilling my cup.
-Our table was a little wobbly and the waitress noticed and fixed it right away.

Only suggestion - give all the chairs a backrest so I can have a place to put my jacket?:)

Nous avions une réservation mais étions assis au 1er étage et étions carrément assis dans l’allée. Le service était pénible et long. On avait eu de bonnes critiques de quelques amis à propos de la place mais pour les Ramen. Malheureusement on ne les essaiera jamais. Nos plats (pieuvres, calmar, tataki de thon, salade daikon, brochettes de poulet,) on a retourné le thon en cuisine car il n’était évidement pas frais. Très déçu de notre visite chez Ichigo.

Had a nice dinner here with my family! Staff are very accommodating and quick to attend to our needs. Food was superb! I would have wanted for them to have some high chairs though for my little one. But overall it's good!

Nous avons été très déçus du service. Sommes arrivés 7minutes à l’avance pour une réservation à 21: 30- on nous répond très peu poliment de retourner dehors et revenir quand ce sera l’heure. C’était samedi soir, que la table ne soit pas prête c’est bien compréhensible mais pas avec ce ton condescendant.
Rentrés finalement vers 21: 50. Nourriture très bonne, avions commandé plusieurs tapas. À 2 reprises 2 serveurs différents nous ont demandé si nous attendions d’autres plats- la première fois nous en attendions 4 autres et la 2e fois 2 autres. N’avons malheureusement jamais reçu nos derniers plats après plus d’1: 30 d’attente. Personne n’est revenu nous voir, en voyant qu’ils étaient entrain de nettoyer la cuisine, avons demandé de les annuler. Aucune excuse la part de la serveuse qui quelques minutes avant prenait des shooters à la table d’à côté. C’est dommage, bons plats, mais service médiocre, je ne recommanderais pas.

Quelle bonne surprise! Nous avons réservé une table pour 5 convives et quel accueil! Mention spéciale pour notre serveuse, au combien souriante et aimable. Nous avons été installés à l'étage sur une spacieuse table. Idoine! Pour apprécier la multitude de tapas que nous avons eu le bonheur de déguster. On y parle de côtes de boeuf marinées saisies sur pierre chaude, de boeuf de wagyu accompagné de son délicieux jus ou encore de tiramisu au sésame noir. Quelle originalité, quel bonheur. Une belle soirée.
Le tout, pour un prix très abordable. C'est ravissant. Nous y retournerons avec joie le plus tôt possible. C'est sans nul doute que Ichie go ichi ne nous a pas encore dévoilé tous ses secrets.

Je suis allée chez Ichigo avec mes parents plus très jeunes, et l'expérience a été parfaite! Le staff super attentionné et à son affaire malgré une salle bien pleine, la nourriture absolument délicieuse et variée. Bravo d'avoir su maintenir une telle qualité malgré les difficultés de la pandémie, c'était un tour de force!

Yummy plates and drinks. Chic atmosphere. Very small portions for what you pay - we left hungry and had a second dinner! If you want to have a proper meal expect to order 3+ dishes per person.

Delicious Japanese food, but most importantly really good drinks! Staff is also very, very nice. Had a great time.

First impression with the small door was not very impressive. However! Inside was very huge and well organized. Definitely coming back. Service was friendly and fast.

Meilleur Izakaya et ramen en ville et je dit ça apres en avoir essailler plusieurs. Grand choix de cocktail. Je recommande le Mr Miyagi double.

Un service exceptionnel.

Les serveurs sont tellement gentils, ils connaissent parfaitement toute la carte, ils sont attentionnés, réactifs, à l'écoute.
Notre serveuse nous a fait tester les vins de prune pour nous aider à choisir et la personne qui m'accompagnait a pu échanger son cocktail qui était trop fort pour elle. Le serveur a remarqué avant moi que m'a pierre chaude avait refroidi et m'en a commandé une autre.
Le lieu est charmant et chaleureux. Pas bruyant comme d'autre izakaya que j'ai pu tester.
L'attente est parfaitement convenable.
Les plats sont délicieux. Nous avons adoré le riz à l'anguille, et le tataki de thon. J'ai bien apprécié le boeuf sur la pierre chaude. Excellent.
On nous a meme offert un shooter à la fin.
Il ne fait aucun doute que j'y retournerai avec un grand plaisir.

Firstly, this izakaya is not authentic and is catered towards Western palates. I ordered the tuna tataki, croquettes, grilled ika and takoyaki, which came to a whopping $60-$70. This is ridiculously overpriced for an izakaya restaurant especially when the fish is not at all fresh. I understand tataki is semi-cooked, and when served tuna tataki, it is generally a deep red encrusted with a brownish taint from the torch. Here, the tataki was served completely brown and the fish evidently did not look fresh, and very lifeless on the plate. The grilled ika was the best priced for the portion size. Do not expect to be full by the end of the meal. Lastly, covid 19 measures were not properly placed whereby dividers only went up to your shoulders when seated. There is bound to be molecules circulating even more with the lack of proper barriers.

C'était ma première fois dans ce restaurant et j'ai trouver que c'était vraiment aggréable. Le service est impeccable et les mets que j'ai eu la chance de consommé sont très bon. À découvrir!

Best ramen place in Montreal. I brought my colleagues here. One of them is from Germany and didn’t have a good experience with Ramen before. After the meal, he said he loved ramen now and wrote down the location of the place.

Delicious Japanese tapas food, well presented and cooked to perfection! Atmosphere/setting is nice and cozy, and top service by professional staff.

Walked in as a party of 3 on a Tuesday night and the place was packed. We waited 10 minutes to have a table, but the food was worth the wait. I definitely will be going back to taste their Japanese Whiskey cocktails.

If you are looking for a quick, filling, cheap, bowl of ramen, this is not the place to go. It's upscaled and expensive, but really the best tasting ramen I've had on Montreal.

I have not had very good ramen experiences in this city but I was very impressed by this place. The broth was flavorful and creamy. The noodles were chewy and authentic. Also had the sake ice cream which was also delicious. That being said, it's still expensive by ramen standards (~$15 a bowl not including bamboo and corn) but that seems to be common here (unfortunately). In addition, the wait to get in was long considering we were in third place on a Monday afternoon. It wasn't even noon. Also, the service was VERY slow. It took us almost three hours to finish up.

Nice restaurant design. Food mostly tasty and balanced (except for the wasabi octopus, which is way, way too overpowered by the wasabi taste) but prices are a little high, especially considering how izakayas of the same level have been blooming in the city lately and are proposing less expensive menus. Temperature was freezing cold when we went, two customers kept their coats on and my feet were frozen when I left the restaurant. We could not order ramen unless we had a reservation, which was really annoying. Overall, nice place, good food but expensive, I don't think I will go back.

Très bon resto, notamment pour y aller en groupe. Intéressante diversité de plats et belle exécution. 1 étoile de moins parce que la gestion de l'espace d'accueil et d'attente est à la limite du désagréable.

Ok so most importantly, the food here is simply delicious! I've tried nearly everything on their menu and have seriously yet to be even remotely disappointed. Special shoutout to their Ramen - easily one of the best in the city. Their other dishes are tapas style and equally as delicious (try their Karaage chicken and the garlic fried rice- you'll thank me later) and their drinks and specialty cocktails are phenomenal!

There are a few minor items that kept me from leaving a 5 star rating though. For starters, group reservations are not allowed to have the ramen which can be disappointing as it's just such a great dish. Additionally, the service can be a hit or miss. The last occasion we were there, we notified the restaurant and the staff that we were celebrating a birthday several times and it went unacknowledged (no little dessert or candle or mention that they do not do such things). Other times however we've gone and the service has been exceptional. The space is large but the waiting area is extremely tight which can get very uncomfortable very quickly on a busy night.

Overall though the space is trendy, quaint and just a wonderful choice.

This is one of the best Japanese restaurants in Montreal. The decor is very pretty and there's a good atmosphere. The food varies from good to great. The ramen is definitely the highlight of this place. It gets really crowded so either come off peak hours or be prepared to wait. The only drawback for me in this place is that the chairs are extremely uncomfortable

One of the best ramen soup in Montreal. They also have a vegan option. Make sure to arrive early to have a good spot. Its busy very fast.

The place is nice to have a night out with friends, portions are small but cheap too, so you can try different things. I didn't like what i had but my friends did. Good service.

Woooooo, when we got there on Fri night, it was packed at the front. We did an online reservations, so we went to the back section. It was great. For the food, overall is good. I ordered a wrong thing though, I wanted a grill squid, but I ordered a deep fried calamari bit. The calamari is soft, not overly cooked. The house prawns tempera is very filling. The food portion of appetizer is average, the fried udon is one pack of udon with fried veggies/ mushrooms, garlicky. The back is a little bit "cozy", your back can touch the ppl at the table behind you.

Endroit délicieux tenu par des Japonais, le menu le reflète bien. Si on ignore le service et les prix, en fermant les yeux on se croirait au Japon.
C'est maintenant mon Izakaya#1 en ville.

Great little izakaya if you want good ramen and small japanese tapas! The matcha tiramisu is to die for! Definitely would recommend this to a friend and the wait time isn’t as long as yokato because it’s a bigger space. Also you can have drinks here, perfect for a date night.

Delicious. It’s about 100$ per person if you want to stuff yourselves, but it’s well worth it. Bon appétit!

La nourriture est incroyablement bonne, les prix font du sens pour l'aliment typique et la portion que l'on nous sert et le décor est parfait, mais la serveuse que nous avons eu n'a pas contribué à nous faire vivre cette expérience pleinement. Elle nous a demandé si nous voulions avoir d'autres plats 10 minutes après que nous ayons terminé ce que nous avions et elle ne m'a jamais proposé une deuxième consommation alors que dans cette période elle est allée deux fois à la table voisine et qu'elle n'a eu aucune nouvelle table d'assise. La demoiselle qui remplissait notre eau pouvait être comparée à un fantôme - aucune parole, aucun sourire.

Moins connu que son voisin Yokato Yokabai, le goût et le service en valent pourtant le détour! Pas de ramens, mais des plats typiquement japonais, originaux, délicieux! Un must eat à Montréal!

I love this izakaya! The food has a mix of classics and new inventions like udon carbonara and mochi-bacon. The staff is friendly and efficient. The atmosphere and deco make you feel welcome. Highly recommend.

Good ramen, good drinks, but if you get the ramen, I definitely recommend ordering extra broth and the thick noodles, if you can
