Terrible bed, to cold to get any sleep. I had to turn the room heat up and I mean really up @29 degrees. The problem was that the duvet on the bed is paper thin. The bedding is the worst I recall in a hotel and this resulted in being cold all night. I live in Canada and this is the first time I’ve ever been cold in a hotel. It has really negatively impacted my trip. The bed is also excessively creaky. Avoid this hotel.

Here for a conference travelled with my wife. We had one of the best check-in experiences -thoroufh, friendly and genuinely cares about ensuring we had everything we needed and understood our needs.

The common areas were fresh and well maintained. Because of the dark carpets, the rooms and hallways looked a bit dated. Certainly the bathrooms could use a refresh as the shower is the 80s closed-in type design with walls on 3 sides and a small translucent glass door.

The fitness centre was well equipped. Ample cardio machines, one cable machine and machines for chest/shoulder press/leg press, one bench with free weights up to 70 lbs.

We had access to the club lounge and it was well stocked. Love the inclusive beer, wine, and liquor between 530-730pm. The hors d'oeuvres were of good quality and always had vegetarian options. The menu was different over the two nights we were there. The breakywas standard continental.

Loves the location in terms of closeness to the Palais de Congres, old Montreal and numerous high quality restaurants and attractions.

Worst experience I’ve ever had at any restaurant in my life. Followed by harassment, prejudice, and false accusations to police from their staff.

This is a long review. But long story short. Unless you are quebecois (French speaking) and are ok with servers assaulting you in the bathroom to leave so they can go home early, then this isn’t the place for you.

After my group of 3 ordered over 100$ each of food and drinks at the hotel bar, Sarah B, the waitress (before midnight and after asking us to pay early so she could close her register) came to our table to ask if we could leave, because she wanted to go home early.

We were taken aback as there were other people still sitting in the restaurant. But we were going to leave shortly anyway, so we told the waitress we would leave after our friend returned from the bathroom.

The waitress went into the bathroom and told my friend that we were waiting at the bar ready to leave so she should hurry up (which obviously was not true).

We asked to speak to the manager, Loise Grosperrin, who told us she couldn’t help us because we did not speak French.

Please note, this is a bar/resto in a hotel called intercontinental hotel.

This manager continued to refuse to speak to us because she said we were in Quebec and she refused to speak any language but French.

She then called security. And her security guard then proceeded to call the police because we were not leaving without being addressed. The security guard lied by saying we were physically assaulting them, which was not true. As I started to record so we can show that this was not an aggressive situation.

The police showed up and said this was essentially a waste of time as the manager and security guard lied about the circumstance.

This hotel and bar/resto should be ashamed to offer this type of service to foreign guests.

I wish I could give 0 stars.

Clean rooms and great location. Disappointed with staff and manager as we were told we could check out a day earlier than what we had booked but then charged us for an extra night despite that. Disappointing and probably will not book with them again.

Very nice hotel with a great location. The bar was exceptionally nice, especially with the live Jazz musician and served some of the best cocktails I’ve ever had.

Stayed there 6 days. It is a great hotel.
Have a nice restaurant and a bar that serves wonderful drinks made of absinthe.
Staff is very helpful and very professional.
Nice decoration and clean.

Summary: they way over book rooms.

I booked and paid for a classic double room with two double beds for my stay from August 10 to 14,2023. When I arrived at the hotel on August 10th, I was informed that the room I booked was unavailable. The only option they presented me with was a room with a single double bed.

This was problematic for two reasons:
1. The room was not what I had booked nor paid for.
2. I was traveling with a female friend, and due to our relationship, it was inappropriate for us to share a single bed.

Despite the inconvenience this presented, the hotel did not offer any sort of proper accommodation or remedy for this issue. As a result, I spent all four nights sleeping on the floor while my friend slept on the bed. Although, they offered a cot for an extra $25 a night, on top of the already pricey $2000 room.

I don't recommend booking this hotel as they seem to be very willing to over book rooms. As I was checking in, there were four other patrons who had the exact same issue as me at the check-in desk, all of them clearly upset and just trying to get the rooms they paid for. I wouldn't be surprised if they had this happen all day. Don't be surprised if they do the same to you

Also the fridge didn't work but that's not very relevant to this review.

First just a wonderful thank you to the attentive staff at the front desk. Merly I believe is her name, was just fantastic throughout. As a diamond member I am use to Intercontinental service but this was above expectations.

The hotel itself is very well located, great large rooms, good breakfast and I’d say really good club lounge for North America. Room are starting to be a bit dated but nonetheless very comfortable, especially the mattress.

Loved it and will be back again

Our room was so luxurious, spacious and comfortable. Bed was amazing! Lobby is so unique and beautiful. Staff was great. Location couldn’t have been better with amazing restaurants, supper clubs, cute little shops and more. I would definitely return. Thank you!

It pains me to give an average review to this place given the challenges the industry has faced during the pandemic, but I found this experience to be average at the price point. The service was great and the rooms were clean, but it looks like maintenance and repairs have fallen by the wayside, and there were many operational inconsistencies especially with respect to the reservation system for the pool. The hotel is also quite old and not designed to 21st-century standards. For $250+ per night, I’m certain you can find way better places to stay, even in this prime location.

This hotel also seems to suffer from a known noise problem with its elevators. I was given a free upgrade when I arrived to a room with a better view, and after reading other reviews on here, I suspect I was put in that room because it was next to an elevator shaft and therefore very noisy. For the entire duration of my stay I thought that I was hearing a subway system, but it turns out it was the elevators! Thankfully I brought earplugs with me which effectively canceled out the noise. Yet another sign that the hotel has aged past its prime.

Too old facilities, but clean and tidy. Great service! Although we’ve changed rooms for three times before getting a all-functional unit with heating, enough light and has a decent view.

Hôtel bien situé et agréable. Les chambres sont un peu sombres mais confortables.
Le petit-déjeuner est généreux et excellent.
Quant au personnel, c'est la richesse de cet hôtel car les employés sont charmants, bienveillants et chaleureux.

Dirty windows full of spiders.and guess what I found 3 spiders also inside the room and spider webs.if it was just 1 I would say okay can happen.but how come so many? The rooms don't get properly cleaned obviously. I also checked the counters.yes dusty.also it's worth mentioning this hotel has so much old and outdated furniture.really needs some upgrade. I definitely don't recommend this for families with small children because you are required to park your car in parking level 10.then take an elevator to parking level 1 and then get another elevator up to main level and then walk like 2 minutes to lobby.not really kid friendly hotel.the only good feedback for this hotel is for the dinning staff.very respectful and caring.beside that I don't recommend this hotel.

Amazing. Allowed an early check in, friendly staff, beautiful big and clean room. The bed was so comfortable. Pool area was clean and bright, long and perfect temperature. Location is more central than I thought. I walked everywhere - minutes to Old Montreal, 12 minutes to Eaton Center, 15 minutes to Bell Centre.did I mention the friendly staff? Very accommodating and always available to answer questions

Nice hotel. Parking isn't great.have to go down 9 floors, and no direct access to hotel. And parking is expensive. But hotel is clean, quiet and great location.

Worst check in experience, arrived at 3pm for check in but room was not clean. We were told to wait 30 minutes but it’s already 1 hour and still no update. We can see people are getting rooms. I don’t know why the special discrimination with us?

This is a tough one. The hotel is located right downtown and is within walking distance of many attractions.

The check in was quick and easy, and they didn't make a fuss about me having a room two hours before the check in time (3pm). I was shown a disclaimer about construction and noise levels, and they definitely weren't kidding! The room given to me was pretty loud with the sounds of construction/renovation and although it stopped for the night, it was loud enough to be a nuisance.

I was given a nice room, spacious and comfortable, but located in a terrible spot by the elevator. From the room you can hear it going up and down throughout the day/night.

Apparently proof of vaccination is required (according to signs posted on the elevator) but I was never asked for mine and I've noticed a couple of guests without their masks on. I understand it's difficult to enforce wearing masks but it wouldn't be too much of an issue if at least they were checking for proof of vaccination.

The checkout was fast but the attendant working the shift could use some lessons in friendliness. While the check-in person was super attentive and kind, the one doing the checkout was the complete opposite. Perhaps it's because at that point the hotel already got your money and you're on the way out.

With lots of options in the area it's hard for me to recommend the hotel. The three stars is mainly for the location and the clean room and comfortable king bed.

Had a great time. The only issue is when we checked in and I asked for a room near the corner if they had one. The person's response. Your room rate only entitles you to a room with no view. That was so nice of them. They could have said, there are no other rooms available.

Just checked in, but so far the experience here is not like any other Intercontinental Hotels I've stayed at. In a bad way. I'm an IHG Ambassador, and I didn't feel the usual welcome that I expect, so I'm a little disappointed. We have to reserve the pool, but there is almost no availability during my stay here, so my daughter might not be able to swim. The rooms didn't have any slippers or enough towels for me and my family. If the rest of my stay gets better, I'll update this review - but so far, I'm not impressed.

UPDATE: After bringing these issues to the attention of the hotel staff, they resolved everything for me as quickly as they could. I really appreciate the service that they provided. My daughter was really happy to be able to swim before we left. Thank you to the Intercontinental staff at Montreal

Excellent. I love the underground mall connected to the hotel. Very conveniently located near both downtown and old Montreal. Lovely friendly staff, managing quite well and efficiently in these challenging times. I hope you have a safe and excellent time too.

Room was dirty and outdated. Staff were not helpful until escalated to management.
Had to book pool & gym time in advance due to covid protocols (understandable) only to be lumped in with another group
Including children. Over-all unimpressed with a supposedly 3+ star hotel. Two thumbs down.

Greeted very well by the door man but none of the reception staff smiled once on our 3 day stay. Spoke monotonusly. Signs are minimum so its tricky to find exits/entrance. Room stay was pleasant considering we got a good deal booking in advance. Room service was prompt. Pool is same all 5 ft deep so children had to wear a life jacket. I will stay again for the location as cafes, restaurants and old port are close by walking. Parking is ok and easy to find.

A great hotel all around. Location - perfect. Walking distance to just about everything you may want to see as a tourist! Rooms and service - outstanding! Everything is well explained, all questions answered, and all needs satisfied! The only "downside" which isn't really a surprise, is the prices of the bar/restaurant. Got a couple of appetizers and drinks, and paid over $90. But that's pretty normal for hotels, so just be warned of that. Overall - great hotel, great rooms, great location, great service. For a good price. Will stay again.

Beautiful hotel located in the heart of downtown Montreal. Close to the financial, commercial, gay, Chinese and French districts. Staff are very friendly. At present facilities within the hotel are closed but plenty of alternatives available. Rooms are spacious, clean and have all the necessary amenities that you would need.

The location is great. Walking distance to Old Montreal and the Church. Our room was big with a large bathroom (standing shower and tub). But really needs to be updated. Feels and looks so dated. Front desk and concierge were great. The parking was a bit of a disappointment. Literally, 11 levels below ground which took forever. The room next to us left their room services dishes out in the morning. We came back at night and it was still there so that was gross. Overall, okay for our two night stay but probably wont return.

We stayed at the hotel for one night, at the end of September. Kim Luna made it so pleasant and special. We felt at home after a whole day driving. She is such a friendly and professional young lady. Room was very clean, comfortable and had a great view. We really enjoyed our stay.

I am ABSOLUTELY disgusted! I have stayed with my dog at the Westin chain, Hiltons, Ws, Hyatts and CN hotels like the Queen Elizabeth. This is the FIRST time that I have been charged for my dog! If you are not open to having animals, then don't allow animals! Don't claim to be animal friendly and then charge me for them - RIDICULOUS! I will NEVER stay at an Intercontinental again!

This hotel is not worth the cost. Service is substandard, especially during holiday season. Reception, front desk, concierge, room service, etc.staff regularly do not answer the phone from rooms. Valet took 30min+ multiple times and reception failed to request our car multiple times in advance leading. Polite, but extremely incompetent/poor service with no coordination. Everything in the hotel is overpriced relative to other hotels in the area, given the service. Osco! Hotel restaurant food was good but again service was poor. Vacuum cleaning during lunch service in the dining hall.

The disconnect between the departments that are unionized made my booking very difficult. After booking the largest venue for our wedding at this hotel, I was promised a reserved block of ten guest rooms since most of my guests were from out of town/country. Unfortunately, because of the disconnect and lack of communication between the unionized departments, I ended up with only five rooms and toughing it out with Airbnb’s.
The hotel however was very elegant and the in-house staff were polite, helpful and attentive.

Jonny was responsive and somewhat available. For the most part my DJ took up responsibility and was coordinating with us. Unfortunately, the rest of the waiters MUST RETIRE. I was informed that the waiters had been here for 20+ years.but that will not excuse such a terrible service. I personally worked in the service industry for 7 years and never under any circumstance was it acceptable to place plates like you’re at a fast food restaurant without any care. Snarky attitude and rude comments to my guests from some of the waiters. The service for the honor table was very inconsiderate; placing plates from the front? Such a rush when theres more than enough space and ample time to come to our right hand side to serve. Just overall amateur table service and etiquette. So many guests complained about bottle service, coffee service and some not being able to eat at all. I don’t know what I paid so much for! Some of the kids only got their meals after the adults were finished. *My Mother, the mother of the groom was denied her initial selection of candied Duck and was told, ‘too bad, deal with it, you’re eating beef’. *My father having to talk to the waiter because of his awful treatment and utter disrespect towards the elder guests. Unacceptable unacceptable and quite frankly disgusting! I can’t believe I didn’t gather more information before tipping 700$ which was already halved because of what I heard through the grape vine of the service.
The service just ruined the wedding and ruined the overall experience. The chef’s capabilities were smothered with this horrible service. NO BUS BOYS? How are you expecting to have a smooth service without some younger guys tanking out the heat and the heavy lifting? This union is delusional.

If you could rent this hall and get your own catering service somehow (if they permit) I think it’s well worth it instead of settling for this group of grumpy geezers.

Despite the bad service, Sandra Caruso, the booking manager was very professional and responsive. She was everything you would expect from someone in her position. I am sorry that she is stuck with such a terrible union.

This is surely the last time I deal with this hotel and the Intercontinental unless otherwise compensated. I will advise my friends and future soon to be wed couples to NOT book this venue unless they want to be thouroughly disrespected. Too bad, because it is most probably the most beautiful and stunning event hall in all of Montreal.

The whole hotel is classic and beautiful by every looks. A lot of places to see in Montreal are just walkable from the hotel and that's a big plus considering the ridiculously priced parking charges anywhere in Montreal. And unfortunately, parking in the hotel also is cumbersome and expensive. If you would like to do multiple entries better to use valet and that's $35 per day. Otherwise, you would end up spending $20 for anything more 20 minutes (ughh I know) Except the parking challenge, everything is good in regard to this hotel! Rooms are elegant and if you're lucky, you could get a nice view of the city.

As an IHG fan on bias but I do really enjoy Intercontinental properties. Montreal's offering is nicely located, well appointed, reasonably priced for its quality and immaculately kept. I highly recommend this hotel for business class accoadations.

Reception provided some nice amenities for IHG members: a packet of coupons (we didn’t use any), a welcome letter with recommended sights in Montreal, and a choice of 600 IHG points or a non-alcoholic drink.

The room was dated, but had nice views. We were upgraded to a king room with a view. The bathroom had a shower and a tub. The shower stall smelled like gym shoes. It was disgusting! I propped the shower door open overnight with the trash can, which helped alleviate the stench. The wallpaper near the shower floor was peeling back a good few inches. Could benefit from a remodel.

Great hotel and perfect location; the staff are a little slow at the front desk, house keeping isn't great (found a sock in our bed that wasn't ours) but the hotel itself is well decorated and right near all the attractions. Concierge was great!

Great hotel.

Large rooms, nice bathrooms, breakfast has all you would want. Coffee needs some work taking lifts is a bit annoying and slow, overall happy with our stay.
