Very nice place to visit. You see very exotic plants, albino squirrels and we even had the opportunity to see a fox outdoors. Highly recommended

Absolutely lovely! And huge! We only walked through a small portion and it was still pretty as can be.

Not a lot to see. The Bonsai were excellent. Not so much a garden as a cultural orientation.

I was amazed at the intricate layout and artifacts. Felt like being transported to a village of long ago. Sitting there you could hear and feel the day to day activities of those who lived in such a village. I sent pictures to friends who will be coming to Montreal soon. This is a must see on "Things to do".

This is a Japanese garden review - not the Chinese garden review!

I must admit that I felt a slight disappointment during my visit to this Japanese garden, especially when comparing it to the other spectacular sections of the Montreal Botanical Gardens. Having visited many other Japanese gardens in my life, I can say that this one falls on the lower end of my favorites list. Don't get me wrong; it is still beautiful, but it simply didn't meet my expectations.

There were a few aspects that I didn't fully appreciate. Firstly, the pathways needed more upkeep. After the rain, several of them had puddles of water, making it challenging to navigate without stepping on the otherwise perfect grass.

The absence of stones was a major letdown for me. On one of the signposts, it mentioned that stones are one of the essential components of the gardens, but strangely, they were nowhere to be found except for a few in the distant waterfall cascade. I could not even see them and admire them. They were even missing from the lake! Seeing the fabric covering the bottom of the lake was very unusual and took away the magical essence that Japanese gardens are meant to evoke.

Although you can walk around the lake, half of the path goes through a thick forest, which obstructs the view of the lake. The garden features a few buildings, with the main pavilion being the most interesting one. It houses lavatories, a water fountain, and a workshop area. Additionally, there's a small bonsai exhibition in the yards, offering valuable information on cultivating bonsais.

Overall, my impression was that this was a nice manicured garden around the lake - nothing more, nothing less. I visited on a Saturday in July 2023.

Really cool place to visit if you are in Montreal. Gorgeous gardens and beautiful water features

Excellent Garden that is located near the Olympic Stadium, in which they show you a great exhibition of plants and how beautiful nature is, and very well adapted to what Japanese gardens are like, a very pleasant experience.

That’s not so nice and have enough Japanese atmosphere as I expected. If you are a big fan of Japan you will be disappointed.

It doesn't have as many things as in Chinese, but it's beautiful, especially the cherry trees!

Beautiful, the weather helped, but it’s lovely to be able to experience that portion of the botanical garden. Totally recommend the Bonsai section.

This place is huge, only visited about half of the attractions. Looking forward to going back and seeing the rest.

Beautiful and quiet place. Perfect for your own thoughts or light conversations against the sound of water.

It is a very special place, an idealized version of nature, where harmony and tranquility invite contemplation.
We can admire the beauty of the layout of stones, of meticulously shaped shrubs and trees, of flowering in tune with the seasons.
