One if the best restaurants I have ever been. The food was exceptional. Ambiance service and lighting was perfect.

Le décor de la section en arrière est magnifique. Bravo à l'équipe qui a pris la réservation et qui nous a donné une table en fonction de la demande spéciale que j'ai faite.

J'ai pris l'entrée d'egg Roll et honnêtement, ça ne goûtait vraiment pas grand chose. Pour les plats, même chose pour les spare ribs. La morue à la jatoba était très bonne par contre.

J'ai été attiré par la beauté de l'endroit, je suis contente de l'avoir essayé, mais je ne risque pas d'y retourner, ce n'est que mon expérience, allez-y pour voir par vous-même.

Absolutely delightful experience, the food was delicious some of the best seafood I have had in Montreal! Perfect place for anniversaries or birthdays!

Lacking a little bit of authenticity on the asian style foods but still amazingly tasty. Mango crepes were a bit dry or lacking sauce too. Everything is beautifully plated and the place is nice

Food is a definite 5 star had a blast there last time I went.

What is really disappointing is the customer service. I wanted to go the second time since I won a gift card from work.

They “sent” me a gift card. Clearly never received. Called them so many times they promise to cancel it and told me I would be able to go in and redeem my card.

They decided to brush me off and never responded. They still haven’t called. I guess when you don’t have the money to spend there you’re just garbage.

I had an awesome experience. The service was good, the place is beautiful and the food is amazing! Great place for a date night

One of my favourite restaurant in MTL.

I would definitely recommend going on the patio during the summer season. The menu is really diverse, with a nice offering with various price ranges, and every meal is absolutely delicious!

Great place. The atmosphere, the food.they have sustainably farmed bluefin tuna that is just incredible.

Had reservations for 2 on a Saturday at the beginning of February. We used the valet services as well.

The staff were great, friendly, and accommodating. The food was very fresh and tasty. We ordered a large amount of plates and they spread them out during the 2 hours of our reservations. The drinks were top notch and they were not stingy on the alcohol! Would definitely recommend and am looking forward to going back, hopefully in the summertime so I can enjoy the terrasse.

The food is just ridiculously good! We had 6 different dishes and they were all amazing. The service was impeccable! Chef Olivier thank you for an amazing experience! We ordered the pork and shrimp dumplings and the beef tataki followed by the salt and pepper quail and the short ribs. The chef offered us some Wagu dumplings which were to die for! All this combined with a very good atmosphere made this place on of our favorites!

Vraiment un délice, je conseille les choux de Bruxelles en croustilles, les pleurotes absolument divines et les pétoncles! Mais tout le reste était vraiment excellent également.

Wow, nearly impossible to make a reservation, fall on a voice mail box that is full. E-mail responses take two days to answer, like the lady taking reservation is outside the country, very bad experience.

Wow! Just wow. Great food and great service. Nice ambience. Everything was delicious and was served hot and fast. I will definitely return another night and try more of the menu.

I really enjoy Jatoba. Chef Olivier Vigneault is an absolutely charm.

My partner and I extremely enjoy sashimi. Every time we go to Jatoba, we embarrassingly order the largest order of sashimi they offer.each. It's always super fresh and expertly cut.

The other dishes on their menu are also delicious. I recommend the duck fried rice and gyoza. They also have nice cocktails. A notable favorite that has remained on their menu for a few years is the Aloha Jatoba, which is a ginger flavored cocktail.

I would recommend Jatoba to anyone looking for high quality food and an overall enjoyable dining experience. Bon appétit!

Une fusion japonaise exceptionnelle, dans un cadre divin, le tout auréolé d'un service irréprochable. Parfait pour ceux qui aiment partager des plats, que ce soit entre amis ou en amoureux.

Pickup up from this place a few times and the food is very good. It is pricey, of course, but a nice treat as they have some original dishes and very fresh fish. The menu changes also from what I can see so always something new to try.
As a general note, I wish that companies would use less packaging, less plastic bags and not give cutlery unless requested.

J'y suis allé à 3 reprises. La qualité est absolument exceptionnelle. Une expérience à vivre au moins une fois avec le menu dégustation complet. Le prix est très raisonnable si on prends en compte l'extrême qualité de ce qui nous est servi, c'est parfait.

J'essai encore de retrouver la bière Hitashino ;)

Je recommande sans aucune réserve le Jatoba.

One of my absolute favorite restaurants in Montreal. The food is phenomenal. The interior design is also gorgeous and it was done by a well known local designer named Amlyne Phillips. Whether you sit at the bar or a table you will get an amazing culinary experience. The restaurant is located in downtown Montreal, just off of Phillips Square which is currently undergoing a spectacular renovation. Jatoba also has an interior enclosed terrace which is open all year round so I do recommend you try and get a table in the terrace section as it’s the nicest part of the restaurant. If you’re driving there’s an underground parking lot across the street you can use so you don’t have to search on the street. Please support local restaurants during these crazy times. Jatoba still offers take-out throughout this pandemic. You won’t be disappointed!

Great decor and ambiance! The service is super friendly and on point, as you would expect from a high-end restaurant. The menu is very diverse and each plate is done is a way that promote you to share and be able to try multiple things. Trust me, you want to be able to try all that's on their menu. Each is well crafted and packed with flavor! Highly recommended!

Stay away from this place unless you want to waste your time & money. The attitude of the staff were very rude & snobbish, the food portions were very small & their wine selection was very limited. The amount of service & food received was not even worth the cost yet alone my time. There are many more establishments that worth exploring than this dump. 1/5 would not recommend. Thank you.

Vraiment décevant, mauvais service, attitude de serveur vraiment pas professionnelle. Les plats ne valent pas le prix payé.

Bel endroit. Bonne bouffe. Toutefois, si vous souhaitez manger en catastrophe en fixant constamment votre montre, c’est l’endroit idéal. Car afin de maximiser le nombre de clients au dîner, sans égard à l’expérience-client, le Jatoba a choisi le « double booking » à chaque table, en limitant au minimum votre durée de repas, fixant d’avance le moment où vous devrez quitter. Pour ma part, c’était une première aux allures de dernière.

Best place i ever worked at, all the staff members are super friendly,
its nice place to work for students because they understand the needs of students and fully cooperate with them.
Although there are some thickheaded who try being bossy but its everywhere.

I had high expectations as they offer bluefin tuna. However I was so disappointed by the service and the food. For a restaurant of this range of price (~80$/pers), the service was beyond imaginations.
First of all, the waiter kept speaking some English and some French while we only spoke French. Secondly, it took them a WHILE to serve the last course and they have mistaken the dessert. Third, we waited for about 10min just in order to get the bill. Then, they made mistakes on the bill 3 times without apologizing. I found the server's attitude arrogant. He just said, "then I'll just adjust bill" after repetitive mistakes.
Food wise, the bluefin was ok. For the price 95$ I was expecting more. The main course (30$) was a tiny amount of food. The only things that I liked was the watercress salad and the mille'crepe dessert.
Overall, I wouldn't go back for sure. Way too expensive for such small amount of food and its service. I feel bad, because I brought friends to Jatoba.

Great food, ambiance, and excellent service. We liked the small plates concept (they recommend 2-3 plates per person) which allows you to try more variety (we had the kohlrabi, ultra dumplings, sashimi and duck bao for mains as well as three chocolate bomb and caramel dream for dessert). The menu is quite extensive (about 50 choices) and there is a nice sake list as well. Everything is pretty pricey though so be prepared or go for lunch which is more affordable. It was great for a date night and we would recommend.

Ce restaurant est une vraie merveille. Le personnel est compétent, poli et passionné. Nous avons eu la chance d'avoir une serveuse extrêmement agréable et qui connaissait parfaitement son métier. De plus, la nourriture est exquise.

I came here for a business dinner. This place is busy.and full of good looking people. The food was good but there are better options in Montreal. Stick to wine as their drinks where terrible.

J’ai vraiment aimé mon expérience. Excellent service, mis à part une employée unilingue anglais pour nous décrire les poissons du sashimi. Ce qui surprend au Québec. Toutefois c’était anecdotique car l’ensemble du personnel parlait un excellent français. Je ne tiens pas rigueur, la main-d’oeuvre est rare et cette employée était dévouée. Nous avons laisser le choix de nos plat à notre serveuse. Excellent choix. Très bon produit. L’atmosphère est décontractée et agréable. Nous nous sommes partagés huit plats. Une belle expérience de dégustation. Une place que je recommande. Prévoir une dépense en fonction du secteur de Montréal et de la qualité du service et des produits. Quand même très correct comme prix.

Incredibly rude management staff. Came at the recommendation of a local restauranteur friend but they had a private event which is fine. As we were getting our coats back from coat check and ordering a Uber the manager came over and was visibly upset at our existence. We told her we understood and were leaving to which she raised her voice another octave and insisted we leave this instant and put our coats back on outside in the rain/snow. Mind you this was in the front coat room and foyer area where we saw no attendees. Will make it a point to tell others to avoid this place.

The covered terrace behind is absolutely gorgeous! However, it started raining strongly and it was so noisy! It was a very strong and unusual storm but i'm guessing even small rain might be bothersome.
The food is a combination of japanese and fancy. Always very fresh and tasty. I love the dumplings and the bluefin tartare in crispy rolls were the perfect mix of creamy and crispy.

My friend took the quail and it was a modest, small plate but so packed with flavor.
I will definitely go back.

Got to Montreal, looked online for top rated restaurants, and came across Jatoba. Reviews were good so we took a chance on getting a seat and walked over. Busy as it was, and it was very busy for a Thursday night, they were happy to seat the two of us without a reservation (I'd highly suggest reservations however despite our good luck). Services was very good, efficient and not over bearing. Wine list looked good and there were several very nice cold sake choices. Our sake came perfectly chilled and an ice bucket at the table kept it that way. Dinner was superb! Appetizers were their Ultra dumplings and Yaki Ika grilled calamari - both were delicious. As mains, we had Black Miso Cod and a duck and Japanese steamed buns entree. Also both absolutely wonderful. Prices are a bit high, not crazy, but more than worth it for the quality, atmosphere, and service.

Nous avons réservé pour un bachelor party pour 21 personnes, et la communication pour la réservation a été sans faille.
Le service était extrêmement sympathique et courtois en plus d'être très efficace pour un si gros groupe. L'ambiance était idéale pour un bachelor party, et la terrasse est vraiment magnifique. Nous étions assis proche de 2 autres gros groupes (également des enterrements de vie de jeune fille), ce qui n'a que rajouté à l'atmosphère.
Au niveau de la nourriture, nous avons pris le menu de groupe à 65$. Bien que rien n'était extraordinaire (ce qui est généralement le cas pour les menus de groupe), la nourriture était excellente, les portions copieuses et constituait un excellent rapport qualité prix. Mention honorable au tataki de boeuf ainsi que les 2 desserts qui étaient formidables.
En bref, je recommande très fortement le restaurant pour les groupes. Je suis ravi du professionalisme et du service qui nous a été donné. Merci!

Beautiful Restaurant in downtown Montreal. Very clean and simple flavors with straight forward tastes. Small portions for the price. The dumplings were very sticky so when you picked them up they stuck to each other as well as the side of the steaming dish as well as the paper on the bottom of the steamer, making them difficult to eat. The chop sticks are slippery plastic which make eating especially difficult as most items on the menu are wet. The best thing we had here was dessert, which we had plenty of room for due to the small portion sizes. The dessert was HUGE compared with the main course dishes and was absolutely amazing in presentation and in flavor. We got the Blondie with marshmallow inside. Definitely recommend this place for dessert.
