As usual, I am very pleased with JCD's service maintenance call. I got an appointment quickly. The technician, Shawn, arrived promptly, and checked my system while explaining it. He was thorough, checking even the humidifier's filter, and replaced my air cleaner filter with my new filter (quite a job for me). Also pointed out a potential problem in another installation. An uneventful maintenance call, but Shawn was very pleasant and "went the extra mile". What more could anyone want?

Après vérification auprès d'autres entrepreneurs en climatisation, celui-ci, JCD, m'a chargé beaucoup trop. Imaginez, 1500$ pour remplacer un condensateur électronique (185$) et ajouter environ 5 livres de gaz réfrigérant (UN3163 - R410A à 170+txs la livre!). La quantité a été estimée puisqu'aucune balance n'a été utilisée. L'avoir su.

Once again, JCD impressed me! They diagnosed the problem with my Lennox heat pump that wouldn't heat, and then installed a high quality thermostat to replace the old one which was faulty.
I must say that the courtesy and professionalism is second to none- and everything was so well explained to me such as the source of the problem, and the fix needed even to explain how to use the new thermostat. I can say that no other company I dealt with even came close. Can't recommend highly enough!:)

I am sorry to call JCD Refrigeration Inc.
They charged me $264.33 for nothing.
The technician just looked at my AC and said it was broken and I had to buy a new one.

Since the first day I explained to them that my AC is running and cooling but need more gas.

They tried to sell me a new AC for $4,967.03.

But my AC is still working and cooling and just need more gas!

They said if we come again we will charge you again.
That was my first experience with JCD and I will share it with my friends: DO NOT CALL THIS COMPANY
They still owe me for charge me for wrong diagnosis and do nothing

Very unprofessional and seem to want to make a quick buck without solving any issues. I called JCD refrigeration to repair my HVAC system and they responded promptly and showed up within 24 hours. The technician examined the unit for 25-30 min and couldn’t find an issue, although my A/C wasn’t working. His visual inspection didn’t even include removing the plates and taking a look inside the machine. The only thing he could think of is to top up the refrigerant, which cost an additional fee. The refrigerant level was on the lower side of the average range. I called the company later that day to send another technician to verify because it cost me $400 without any diagnosis. The second technician came with no additional charges and diagnosed the problem to be one of the electrical boards. He was much more thorough than the first tech and took more time with the unit. Obviously, parts would need to be ordered. I called 5-6 times over the course of 2 months for a follow up. Chris left me one message as I missed his call, but with no direct call back number. The companies phone is directed solely to Mary, whom is very polite but not able to discuss the technicalities of the trade. Finally, Mary was given the task to call me back to let me know my machine is not repairable due to the fact that they did not install the machine themselves (the company that installed my unit is no longer in business due to the owner retiring I believe). JCD took my money for that repair call even though they knew they didn’t install my unit from the get go. I guess to make a quick buck. It was also mentioned to me that they only work on units that are offered by their supplier, which I believe is Lennox. If you don’t have a Lennox I guess don’t bother calling them. I would like for someone from JCD to reach out to me to rectify this situation. If JCD would like to corroborate my story by listening to my phone conversation, it was at 2: 46pm on July 27.
I would like to add that my unit is 2 years old and under full warranty, therefore parts are readily available.

To respond to JCDs explanation: The unit is distributed/supplied by Powrmatic which is a large company and parts are readily available. Make a competent excuse next time you’d like to charge for a visit without solving any problems.

I called to simply install 2 thermostats. The "expert" didn't do anything, really nothing, he said he can't install them and billed us 450$ for 1hr and transports! Worst Service! My company had to pay him nonetheless! Another company came and install it in 25min! Compagnie à éviter à tout prix! Ils sont venus pour absolument rien et ont été incapable d'effectuer une tâche qu'une autre compagnie a accompli en 25min. Le technicien disait qu'il ne voulait pas salir ses mains en montrant ses main!? !? Je n'ai jamais rien vu de tel! C'est complètement ridicul. Ils nous ont chargé 450$ pour leur visite de 30min sans aucune intervention. De tous nos fournisseurs corporatifs et résidentiels, nous avons jamais été floués de cette façon. J'attends leur réponse pour une compensation / remboursement de leurs charges et surcharges. Nous avons dû les payer pour que le technicien sorte des lieux!

-Installation problem and extreme high price to fix problem
We had this company to install our new heat pump and furnace in October, 2018 and there was no chance to use the air conditioner at that moment. In 2019 summer after the first few days of using air conditioner, my basement is flooded with water in the furnace room. The water of air conditioner did not go out and it just filled the tank at the bottom of filter until it came out of tank. My husband spent a lot of time to remove the water and clean the basement. I call them and they came here to fix. The pipe that drained water out was not installed properly. The guy fixed it and he did not feel any sorry and said: We won't charge you this time because the labor is still under 1 year of warranty. Come on, it is your installation fault, not us. I did not ask you any compensation for the damage of basement, but what you said feels like you give us mercy to do the job.

This summer the air conditioner is not working. We ask them to check, they send a guy to my house and spend 2 minutes and he told me there is no more refrigerant and there should be leak. They charge me more than 2 hundred dollars and told me to make appointment for the leak detect. The price is extreme high for leak detect and refrigerant is very very expensive and I ask them the more info. They just never call me back.

I won't use this company to do my heat pump maintenance any more.

Very flexible team and communication is good. They sent text day before coming and arrival. Maybe they should have an automated call too because not everyone checks phone regularly. Technicien was helpful. Called them to check cooling. Was told the réfrigérant was low, they refilled it with some ultra rare réfrigérant for $300. This is the r22 réfrigérant, being phased out for its impact on our ozone. Low supplies mean high price. Not JCD fault but I was surprised. The visit cost me about $600 ($200 for visit + $300 fluid + taxes). Kinda pricey (depends who you ask). What I realized after this experience was perhaps I chose the wrong career lol.

Will certainly deal with them again.

The technician who came over was named Brandon B. He was very professional and pleasant. Always had a smile on his face and knew exactly what needed to be done.

This is my 2nd experience with JCD Refrigeration and I am extremely pleased with their employees, quality of work and customer service. I will surely be recommending them to my friends and family.

They came to see what was wrong with my unit, said the board was defective but cannot buy the board because it was not from one of their suppliers. Thankfully, they gave me some alternatives to help me out in my situation since the warranty has ended.

Terrible experience. I called the JCD company and a very sweet, nice lady gave me a quote of $219 for cleaning and maintenance of my AC unit, which was leaking (a few drops of water per hour on the floor). Their quote included one hour of working on up to 3 AC units. Surprisingly, they said they will not send technicians unless I give them my credit card information over the phone! Although I was surprised, I did that! On the day, that their technician, Mr. Shawn, showed up, he worked for approximately an hour (55-60 minutes), and he did not resolve the leaking issue, turned off the AC unit, and without even giving us an invoice I was charged on my credit card for $425 (twice the amount of their quote). When finally after a day or two, I could get an invoice, I saw that they charged me for 2 hours of working! Upon my calls to the company several times, finally after three days, I could talk to Mr. Chris (I believe the owner of the company) to get an answer! I explained to him that his technician was in my house less than an hour (not 2 hours) and he did not even fix the problem, and you charged me double the quote you gave me, without even doing the service that was supposed to be done? ! He was not nice, cutting me off constantly, and when I asked him why he is shouting on me, he said no I am not shouting, the lines are not good! He explained me they will charge people's credit card based on the time their technician's GPS shows, even if the technician is not working inside the house! At the end he gave me a plumber info, upon my request. In summary, their technician transfer the water leaking from the device-on-the-floor to the inside-of-the-wall, turned off the device, and said now a plumber should come and open the wall because now the leaking is being done inside the wall! The plumber should track the leaking issue inside the wall (which we never ever had before)! He did not resolve the leaking issue, but instead charged me twice the real time he was working (2 hrs instead of 1hr)! Horrible experience. I have never ever seen such a thing before.

Nobody is happy when their A/C goes in the fritz. And of course it always happens at je worst possible time, in my case just before a long summer weekend and when I am expecting a dozen overnight house guests.

I started with research to get recommendations and read the reviews of the two I had shortlisted. One I called no longer serviced Kirkland, though he couldn’t have been more helpful and kind, and the second one, JCD Refrigeration, was booked solid until next week.

The friendliest and most customer oriented person who answered the phone and to whom I basically pleaded my case, Mary was her name, was so understanding and sympathetic. She assured me that even though their waiting list was long for possible cancellations today or tomorrow, i.e, before the long weekend, she took note of my desperation and made me feel there was hope.

Somehow she made it happen! An hour later I thought I was hallucinating when their service truck pulled up to our house and the most professional, efficient technician—Anthony—got straight to our heat pump and after a short while, got it working again. We were over the moon delighted with the turn of events in what might have ruined our weekend and potentially many relationships as I am not pleasant without A/C lol.

Of course it’s never cheap to have these highly qualified experts make house calls but that is a worthwhile expense when you know you are in good hands and the relief brought by the repair is literally priceless.

I highly recommend JCD Refrigeration for all your HVAC needs in the areas they serve. Say hi to Mary for me!

JCD Refrigeration was called in when one of our two furnaces with an AC evaporator coil was leaking water on the floor when the AC was on. The technician said that the furnaces should have a P-Trap otherwise the water from condensation from the evaporator coil would not come out from the furnace because of the negative pressure from the blower.
So he created a P-Trap with 20 inches of PVC piping. When I asked why not do the other furnace, he said let’s wait to see if this is the problem.
Once he left, we put the AC on, and the other furnace started leaking although the original leaking one was not. When I checked on the internet, he was right that the furnaces should have a P-Trap. The pipe to drain the condensation was serving both furnaces and somehow the new P-Trap made the other furnace without a P-Trap leak.
When I called JCD the next opening day and explained that the other furnace was leaking; I was told there would be another $220.00 charge to return. I then said that since the technician knew that a P-Trap was necessary, both furnaces should have been done while he was already on site; it would have only taken 10 minutes more. The receptionist said she would get the person in charge to call me.
I have not received any return call, ten days later.
Meanwhile, a handyman came over and we realized that the JCD technician could have made one P-Trap that would have served both furnaces with one more fitting and 24 inches more of piping.
The handyman did this and the problem is now resolved. The cost of materials was $20.00
While reviewing the JCD invoice, I analyzed the cost for material used. During that service call, the PVC pipe, fittings and glue were marked up by 680 % from the cost online from Home Depot. I was charged $75.00 for $11.00 of material over and above the $220.00 service call. (24 inch ¾ PVC pipe $ 35.00,4 fittings ¾ $ 24.00 and PVC glue $ 15.00. A 32-ounce bottle of glue costs $18.00 and can be used to glue 125 fittings, representing $0.15 for each fitting for a total of $0.60 for 4 fittings. This represents an obvious overcharge abuse. What would it have been if I required a $150.00 part?

The main reasons I do not recommend JCD are:
1. The gouging on materials: 680 % markup.
2. Charging a second service call $ 220.00 for a repair they should have made on the first call.
3. No call back to discuss the issues and repairing the second leaking furnace.
4. The lack of judgement of the technician.

On the positive side, the staff (receptionist and technician) were friendly and polite and they came within 24 hour on the first call, which is why I am giving a 2 star review and not 1.
I am including my invoice number 30526 to help them find my file.

Resolution

Shortly after my review, the owner called me. He inquired about the problem. After my explanation, he agreed with me that the second p-trap should have been done at the same time. He did not understand why nobody ever called me back. He also said that making one p-trap for the two furnaces was not recommended. We discussed the mark up on material and he made his point about carrying cost of materials in each truck. I did mention that I was already paying $ 220.00 for the service call and I still tough it was excessive.
The next day a technician came over and made two separate p-traps at no extra cost. I appreciate the resolution but still maintain my position on excessive mark up on materials having been in the service business with technicians and trucks on the road serving residential customers.

Shawn came a little ahead of schedule and figured out the problem quickly. Will have to wait and see if they have the part in stock but they sell and repair ACs and if I need to buy, definitely going with them.

The maintenance service did not come on the scheduled date but a day later. No one called to cancel. I had to call to find out what had happened and to re-schedule. Despite the call window for the visit, the entire day was scheduled around it. Very disappointing. Fortunately, the service was carried out without incident when the technician came on the second day.

Excellent service for the whole team! Mary took my call yesterday to service my A/C unit and was great! Got a call the next day and Anthony was very knowledgeable and quickly resolved the issue and we are back to have a functional unit! Highly recommend their service!

Called almost 9: 00 PM since I noticed that the furnace fan had not been on for some time & the house was getting colder. Left a message and within mins someone called back. They showed up early the following day. Problem resolved! Thank you Chris!
