Jennifer McCarthy, Notary

McCarthy, and her Assistant almost ruined my transaction, and created a COMPLICATED process, where it could have been extremely simple. They had the best price but, late in the process, demanded other documents that "only we" could create = +$. The Assistant was extremely rude to me, and I decided to pay double elsewhere, stating that "I would no longer require their services", to which I never received a response.just another passive-agressive final step in a relationship. Trust the reviews here, stating that this notary creates complications where there should be none. When things went South, I remembered reading/ignoring concerning reviews, that turned out to be right-on.

Update after reply from Owner:

This notary just revealed a private detail (e-signatures) regarding my transaction (with another notary) in a reply to my original review above, and this is the first communication that I have received since terminating the mandate. You be the judge.

The assistant and Jennifer were terrific.scheduled a meeting, met me on time.arranged another meeting, met me on time with all the information prepared. Great service, great to deal with class people.

I called to schedule a house transaction. They took down my info and said they would call me back. I called myself 2 days later and they took my info again and said they would call me back.
No call back 4 days later.
Talk about professionalism ‍️

Unfortunately her firm made my purchase very stressful.

Starting with the bank draft amount. It was miscalculated (another reviewer had the same experience, shame on me).

I was never advised of the date to insure our home. We had insured the date that we were moving in, when in fact we should have started the insurance the date we signed. There was 5 days in between the date we signed and the day we moved in.

Two months have now passed and we are still missing our deed of sale. We’ve asked numerous times with no reply (before COVID). This should have been handled without us asking.

Jennifer is a nice in person but very hard to reach

Unfortunately, this notary was chosen by the buyers of my property and she failed to warn me of certain repercussions of paying off my line of credit. She also didn’t offer the service of electronic fund transfer to my bank, instead she gave me a large uncertified cheque which caused me to have to wait 4 business days for it to clear. Needless to say I was not impressed and would not recommend.

Jennifer McCarthy has been invaluable every time I work with my clients, buyers and sellers. I am confident that every file we work on together will be of the highest professionalism making each of my real estate transactions seamless and stress free for my clients and myself. I recommend her highly.

Make yourself a favour and avoid this office. Think of the worst experience you've ever had, multiply it by 100 times, and there you are!

Made a random call to a notary in QC regarding sale of house and although I specified that I would not be using her services (a notary was already selected by the buyers), Jennifer was generous with her time and patience in answering some questions that I had regarding the sale. I wanted to compare notes with what the other notary claimed for sales involving a non Canadian resident. I really appreciated Jennifer for her professionalism and knowledge.also want to give thanks to her assistant Felicia for taking the call! Would really recommend her to my friends who still live in the area!

Jennifer has served as our notary for house purchases as well as for our personal wills. We have referred her to friends and family and they all rave about her and her staff. She personifies the words professional, organized and patient.

Best experience I’ve had with a Notary. Jennifer took the time to explain all of the process and went through each document one by one. She answered all of our questions in a professional manner but was also very easy to talk to. Her fees were also very reasonable. I would definitely recommend her.
