KaTO Fusion Japonaise - Restaurant - Japanese Fusion Cuisine

Nous avons passé un bon moment entre amis au Kato. Ce restaurant a une table exceptionnel au prix tout à fait abordable pour la qualité. On peut manger une généreuse portion l’excellent riz Kimchi au bœuf pour 25$ ou 8 Sushi de thon pour 16$. C’est une des très bonnes tables de l’Outaouais.

Très dessus de la nourriture et de la présentation des assiettes. Le serveur était très gentil mais on voyait bien qu'il ne croyait pas au discours appris par cœur. Mentionné que le restaurant est une chaîne provenant de la Floride n'est pas un atout car pour ceux et celles qui ont voyagé aux USA savent bien que l'on y mange très mal. Le soushi à l'anguille n'était pas frais et j'ai été malade toute la nuit. Bref rapport qualité prix je ne conseil vraiment pas.

Good service and nice looking place. The sushi is way overpriced and nothing to write home about. Barely above all you can eat sushi places in Ottawa.

We went to this restaurant as recommended by the hotel we were staying in for a milestone birthday celebration. It turned out to be a disaster evening. This restaurant has serious owner/general manager issues! I cannot even begin to explain how terrible our experience was at this place. The poor staff look completely overwhelmed and overworked, it is very obvious that there are significant issues here and we felt sorry for the staff as it appeared they were not treated well at all. With all the need for good servers out there, I sincerely hope these staff leave this place and find other jobs. Our steak was served cold and basically thrown on the table as the staff member was so run off her feet, we asked to have it returned and were told "no this wasn't allowed", we asked for a Manager and the Manager did end up taking it off the bill as we returned it. The service was beyond slow, the music was louder than a nightclub and we asked to have it turned down a bit or move to a different table where we could hear each other and were told that it was impossible because "the music and volume were run by their restaurant in Miami and they could not adjust it". We are not the type to write negative reviews but this was completely over the top we could not help but warn other hotel guests NOT to go to this restaurant. The service was extremely slow and waiter was not attentive at all, dirty plates sat on our table for over an hour, I was going to take them to the kitchen myself at one point. To be fair, I do not believe it was the fault of the staff as the General Manager/Owner ran around ensuring her friends got drinks and food in a timely fashion which likely puts stress on the other tables and the kitchen. Very chaotic staff and not at all relaxing, we felt like we should be helping the staff from this very unorganized restaurant. Neither staff nor customers should have to experience this type of atmosphere.

KaTO is remarkable in that it has some of the greatest sushi you can find in the entire Ottawa-Gatineau region. The flavour profile and texture of the fish is fantastic, and the rice tastes wonderfully fresh and is so lightly packed while still perfectly holding its structure. I got the Kato Dynamite Roll and I was really impressed! The other items we ordered were tasty as well, but above all, it’s clear that the sushi chefs really know what they’re doing, and it’s for that reason that I will absolutely be coming back to KaTO again. Other than the sushi and sashimi, I would also recommend the Angry Chicken (Poulet Fougueux) for those who enjoy spice. The chicken was crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, and the gochujang sauce had a wonderful kick! I will say that the staff was a bit on the idle side when it came to tending to our table, so it took a while to get served or to refill drinks. I also made a note on OpenTable that the occasion was my friend’s birthday and asked for dessert specialty recommendations for her, but the note went unacknowledged and there was no mention of it at any point. However, the experience was still a great one, as it has been every time in the past, and as I mentioned I will still gladly be returning again in the future!

Food is a 10/10! Each dish were amazing on their own. The portion sizes were great. Sashimi was fresh and delicious. For a party of two, I would recommend the chef choice. If I had to rank my top two dishes, it’ll be the sashimi and short rib taco! Honourable mentions for the Brussel sprouts was a close second!

I highly recommend ordering a few dishes to try all of the different flavours. For two people, we ordered five dishes and had some leftovers to take home.

Our server was great. This was our second time there and he remembered us. Service was prompt and courteous.

We were staying at the hotel and while we were there we saw the Maitre'D at the door. We stopped and I asked him “ how’s the food”. He told me if I came in and ate I would “never forget it”. I subconsciously rolled my eyes and thought- okay whatever you say. We went in and he was absolutely correct. The food was excellent, the presentation was fantastic. It looked like a piece of are when I came to the table and the taste was one of a kind. The server was very helpful and the atmosphere was cosy and modern.

I would definitely recommend trying this place out.

Had an amazing spa/massage at Koena spa then headed to this Japanese fusion restaurant. We thought its just another regular fancy looking place, but we were wrong. The staffs are amazing and customer service are superb especially Theo. The food were so good, we had kimchi rice, bowl of Japchae and avocado sushi. You won’t regret eating here especially if you have an occasion to celebrate. It’s our first wedding anniversary celebration and this restaurant made it extra special. Thank you for the free sushi dessert as well. Best of wishes for the whole team. We will definitely come back!

Delicious high quality sushi + sashimis. The maple duck baos and oysters are highly recommended? Plus manager and staff are very friendly and make the whole experience that much better!

Not for a meet and potatoes kind of person but I loved it. Beautiful ambiance overlooking the spa. Everything cooked to perfection. I had the black cod and it was delicious. Looking forward to my next visit.

The lamb was amazing! It was juicy and didn't even need the yogurt accompaniment. Ordering this as the main allowed us to taste their fries & kimchi fried rice as well so we would definitely recommend it.

Plus, once we ordered, the food came amazingly quick! It was a bit expensive but overall we enjoyed the food there.

The only flaws were that the Caesar didn't have the nori rim and that our waitress disappeared for 20 minutes as we waited to get our bill and leave.

The best Tuna Tartare I ever had. Le meilleur tartare de thon que j'ai jamais mangé. Il fondait dans la bouche. OH WOW. I will be back for sure. Je reviens c'est certain.

Friends and I went for a birthday party. Food was really good, all the fish was high quality. Service was excellent too.

I would give this restaurant a 5 easily. The food was FANTASTIC! My husband got the angus steak and i had sushi for our mains. The servers were amazing, everyone very friendly, attentive and always had a smile on their face despite how busy it was. (Shoutout to Alex, who was amazing!)

However, the wait for the food was quite long. We were at the restaurant for a little over 2 hours in total for the most part we were just waiting. The tables were quite large and my husband and i were seated across each other so it was hard to have a conversation. I really do wish they would improve on the wait times cause if not for that, this restaurant is perfect for me!

My husband and I celebrated a milestone anniversary yesterday and we chose to dine at KaTO, located in the Chateau Cartier Hotel in Aylmer QC. Our waiter Alex was very attentive and the food was exceptional. The ambiance is warm and inviting and the views overlooking the spa waters and the golf course is a bonus. We will return with friends.

Outstanding! We were VERY impressed with our first visit to Kato. Service and food were exceptional.

We had oysters, appetizers and sushi. The oysters were delicious and the accompanying sauce was so good I could drink a bottle of it. The crispy kimchi brussel sprouts were probably the best thing I have ever put in my mouth. Ever. And I don’t even like Brussel sprouts. Sushi was fresh, meticulously prepared and generously portioned.

The dessert? Tempura cheesecake and green tea ice cream? !? On theme, delicious and fun!

Service was friendly, present and helpful with recommendations. Just the right balance.

Every course was a home run. Great night and we’ll be back again soon.

Best angry chicken I have ever tasted. Fair prices however the portions are small hence the 4 star versus 5. The atmosphere is very cosy but be prepared for them to sit you in the bar area first without a reservation. The menu has a good variety of choices and the bar offers a wide range of options. Staff is very nice and helpful if you need recommendations on what to order. Definitely worth a visit.

Amazing! We had the crispy brussel sprouts, angry chicken, bao buns and sliders. The Brussel sprouts were the best I’ve ever tasted and the angry chicken was to die for. Order just the angry chicken and Brussels and you will be very happy. Great service, atmosphere and loved the fire place. We will be back for sure!

Everything was amazing, the very friendly hostess, the chill music, rosé sangria and the sushi chefs even greeted me as I walked by while being seated.
Can’t wait to come back!
