Kōena Spa

Over the December holiday period my daughter and I went. It was beautiful but busy. Lots of people. I went back alone on a Monday at 3: 30 on a work day and it was amazing. Fabulous sauna ritual experience with a guide using incense and scented snowballs and fans. Go when it is less busy. We need more Finnish spas. They are popular. This one is lively.

Koena is like a Le Nordik lite. Cheaper, smaller, closer to Ottawa and less capacity. Had a nice day early Jan here but it was pretty busy as lots of people were still off work. Had a nice lunch at the bistro. It’s not as good as Le Nordik in terms of having quiet / whisper area.

Nice "spa de ville" with many baths, steam rooms and sauna's. Womens locker rooms felt overwhelmingly busy and only 1 changing room is available. Despite the amount of people present on a (-26°c) weekday, we were still able to enjoy any area without to much wait.
Do be careful if visiting the basement steamroom, stairs are REALLY slippery.

The pools are amazing. Lots of pools; different temperatures, fountains, waterfall, a cave area (very romantic). Tasty food. Nice mixed drinks.
Clean change areas. Nice staff.
Overall, very nice place. Would recommend.

Great spa for the price. Would take food from the counter not the restaurant. Pricey for the exchange of unprofessional service. Had to wait for a couple minutes with 3 staff members laughing and talking at the bar knowing I was standing there waiting when there was only two clients in the restaurant. Went last time as well and the food was overcooked and dry.

IMPORTANT UPDATE - ESPECIALLY FOR THE OWNER. No way to reach the manager. No body answers the general phone. Security looks in your water bottles and demands to smell it. Without wearing a mask. Great way to catch COVID or any other desease. You can sufficate in jacuzzi in winter. Big health hazard. Went there again on December 5 th, 2023. After one year to see if anything changed - guards have not been changed especially the one that threatened to hunt me down with his friends for writing a bad review about them. Can you imagine that? You pay to relax safely in Koena and the security threatens to kill you if you write a bad review about them. And it wasn't just me who he threatened - I heard when he threatened another guy like me too. A black male with a little beard about 5.9. This time I had a misunderstanding with my friend, this time in Ukrainian. The guy at the desk interviened in our conversation without a clue what we were talking about and told me never to come there again. I think his name was Kyle. He was also swearing at me - even though I had a security jacket on. THESE PEOPLE HAVE NO FEAR OR SHAME. He admitted that he had an alcoholic drink at the bar even though it seemed he had more than 1. A tall white male in his 20s. Also, people, watch out. Don't leave your money in the robes. My friend got his money stolen from his pockets there. Once I was there before it all happened and I saw and heard one of the security guards offer escort services from his friend to women. So, men - don't let your women there alone. True story - I am a Private Security guard also teaching Ukrainian to Canadian Diplomats and National Defense officers. Be safe! The owner needs to pay more attention to his employees and clients should be able to see or phone the manager to complain!

Agréable et service courtois, mais. Malgré que ce soit un spa où on recherche la chaleur, il manque des zones plus fraîche ou tiède, surtout lorsque c'est une journée très chaude. L'endroit est jolie, mais c'est gâché un peu en raison de la clôture brune en plastique qui délimite le spa. Ils auraient pu faire un effort pour la camoufler un peu. Les vestiaires et les toilettes n'étaient pas très propre, décevant pour un endroit comme celui là.

It was my 2nd time going. Its much more affordable than le nordik and there’s still so many different things to do there.
The massage therapists were amazing! I had Eri and my boyfriend had a deep tissue massage that was really great! I’m planning my next visit already! Thanks so much!

We went on Good Friday right at open at 10 am. Went out to the hot tubs and they were cool/lukewarm to the point that we had to get out after 5 minutes because we were cold. Spoke with an employee who said that due to the power outage they would take 5-6 hours to warm up. We did not get to enjoy the hot tubs at all. Multiple other groups/couples in the pools at that time said that they were told this and each offered 2/1 vouchers. Enjoyed other aspects of the spa and when ready to leave at 1pm spoke with the front desk who said that the hot pools were “just below temperature” so they would not be providing any compensation. Waited for front desk staff and maintenance to check the temperature - front desk staff told us it was 2-3 degrees below temp while maintainable told us it was 8 degrees below temperature (this was at 1pm; 3 hours after we had been there) and said that we were told upon arrival (we were not). After a lot of back and forth, they provided us with three 2/1 vouchers (for a group of 5) and were extremely rude about it. While I understand a power outage is not within their control, informing/offering compensation to some guests while not others doesn’t seem right - and when brought to their attention, we were treated so rudely. Customer service was absolutely terrible and would be hesitant to return because of this.

Malheureusement, je m'attendais à un endroit calme, paisible les gens ne respecte pas les autres en parlant très fort. Je voulais relaxer au contraire ça m'a épuisé. Je déconseille cette endroit si vous voulez relaxer.

If you are looking for a quiet place, this is not it. I was going there alone to relax from my busy motherhood life and every single zone, people were talking loud. Not wispering, just loud. Rules are not being reinforced. Quite disappointing. Nordik is 10 times better.

I actually prefer Koena Spa to Nordik Spa. It’s half the cost (very affordable) and has most of the same attractions. It’s MUCH quieter and less crowded. And on the same property is a golf course, plus a new trail that they are building. The food is less expensive too. The main hot pool is actually nicer than the one at Spa Nordik. And their steam room and Epson salt scrub is a better experience there too. The only thing they don’t have is a meditation room with headsets playing relaxing music. They do have one but you don’t have the music playing right in your ear. They also don’t have weighted blankets on a hammock. But overall, it’s still better than Spa Nordik since there aren’t hoards of people cramming into their bar and pools. Koena spa makes a fantastic date day or night at only $39 to $45 plus tax. And they are open until late, like 10 pm or so! If you had a hard day at work, just go. Bring a bathrobe and flip flops or they will upcharge you for them. Towels are free to use. Super friendly staff as well.

Very nice experience. Felt like a vacation resort. We were able to have a drink while enjoying the spas. Not like any spa I’ve been. The saunas were very nice as well. The salt scrub was great. We particularly enjoyed the sauna rituels. The site was very clean and the spas had very good filtering. The staff was very nice and discreet.

A fabulous day with great friends.the food was good although pricey. The attendants were very nice and the locker rooms and various hot and cold therapies were great.

Decided to visit this Spa and wow, fantastic! So relaxing, very clean and the staff very nice. Reasonable price. I cannot wait to visit again soon! Un très bel endoit. Le Spa est très propre et reposants. Je suis bien impressionné! Hautement recommendé!

Price is definitely a lot less than Nordik. For what you get, it is an alright alternative. The temperature contrast is not that large, but it is cozy and gets the helps you the same in the end.

My partner and I had a wonderful time. It felt like a vacation retreat even when I was only a short drive away from home. The sauna experience was great. The baths were very soothing. My skin felt amazing after going to Kōena spa.

Aussi tiède que le Nordik pour la moitié du prix! L'endroit est bien, mais il faudrait sérieusement crinquer le chauffage. J'ai eu beaucoup de mal à suer une pleine goutte dans le sauna sec  le plus chaud. Je pouvais rester parfaitement confortablement directement dans le jet de vapeur du sauna humide. Du potentiel mais on est pas là pour le look, on veut de la chaleur!

Spa was fantastic for the value, would have been a 5 star review but the poor facial my partner had really tanked an otherwise great experience right at the end.

Would highly recommend the spa, just not the facials. Must say the staff did give her a voucher for a free return to soften the $130 facial catastrophe which was kind.

Also recommend the beet salad

P.s add a bit more scent to the steam room since the water smells a bit of chlorine when aerosolized.

Great place, well managed, nice staff. The only problem, and it's not the fault of the owners, but it's the clientele. After 6pm on weekdays, people who want an affordable price come in droves, and it leads to louder younger people, who wash themselves with salts like they're trying to absorb msg (I know it's not msg, it's just the amounts people are using is entertaining) through their pores or are digging their hands in the salt containers like it's gold or trying to clean their feet several times with salts, lol. Just missing proper etiquette. Happens. Bromont and Quebec city, much better!

I had a massage and facial at Koena Spa. I took my necklace off and left it on a shelf in the treatment room, neglecting to pick it up before leaving (this, of course, is my mistake). When I contacted the spa the following day to retrieve it, they told me they would need 2-3 business days to look through the lost and found. This didn't make sense to me, so I called to ask the receptionist to look in the room I had been in. She refused, and insisted that someone would reach out to me once the lost and found had been searched. Five days later I got a short email saying it wasn't in the lost and found. I called again and spoke to a Koena team member, who also said "if it were there, someone would have found it and brought it to lost and found" instead of simply looking in the room.

I do not blame Koena for my mistake in leaving behind a necklace, but I am very disappointed in their refusal to look the following day, when the likelihood that it would be there is much higher than several days later. They were not concerned with helping me retrieve this lost item, and still have not looked in the room I was in, insisting that "if it were there, someone would have turned it in already".

Loved it, wish they had a year-pass cause I would like to go more often during the year (plus the food is really good which is insane that its both a good spa and a good place to eat) (Tuna tartar is amazing)

Beautiful place I've been there once with a message which was amazing. Now getting hold of an agent to talk to anyone, good luck! I have to drive there to talk to someone!? I book an appointment online for a message and get a email it's canceled, no explanation no request to change time or date. I've left numerous messages no call back. Unfortunate.

Had a fantastic experience at Koena on a Thursday during the day. I love that there are whisper and silent zones, both inside sauns and in relaxation rooms. Food at the small restaurant (offering counter service) was tasty. It wasn't a full lunch, because we weren't willing to pay $20 or more for a more substantial lunch. Staff were excellent & there seemed to be a lot of them! Overall, it was an excellent, relaxing thermal & water experience.

We were here with a hockey team for lunch. Wait staff was very friendly, however, very slow to order. I ordered the nachos con pollo and honestly, they were flavourless. Pretty disappointed ️ my son liked his tacos though.

The new best spa in the area. Full stop. Nordik spa had its time on top. The Spa combined with the amazing Japanese restaurant in the hotel is a winning combination.

Moins de monde qu'à d'autres spas, ce qui est bien, mais plus petit et atteint aussi vite une capacité où la limite du confort peu être discutable.
Semble avoir beaucoup d'anglophones qui ne comprennent pas les écriteaux "murmure".
Ce qui m'a le plus fatigué est que le personnel permettaient aux clients de rentrer n'importe quand lors des rituels Aufguss. Une fois les explications de sécurité entamé il ne devrait plus permettre d'entrer. Les gens essaient de trouver une place et dérange ceux installés. Quel beau moment concentration. 2 fois durant une séance c'est un peu absurde. Le principe d'augmenter la température durant 3 chansons est inutile si en plein milieu il ouvre les porte et laisse entrer l'air froid. Quand il reste une chanson cela leur donne quoi de laisser rentrer encore du monde.

Super relaxing and great experience. Went during the day on a weekday so it was not only cheaper but a lot quieter.

It is smaller compared to nordik and doesn't have as many temperature choices for pools but it was still a amazing spa experience nonetheless. Everyone was respectful, the staff made sure everything was safe (taking away empty glasses to avoid accidents, keeping it relatively quiet, keeping things working). There's a lot of different saunas, a steam room and a lot of relaxation areas in different environments.

Very nice place, but I find they play the spa music too loud. Also, the sea creature sounds in the meditation room are NOT conducive to meditation

Six ladies from Nunavut flew down to have a ladies trip. We stayed at the hotel, spent two days at the spa and six of us recommend DON'T. This is the most stress and anger inducing spa I have ever visited. Screwed up on booking massages and pedicures on separate days, saying their system didn't show the booking but we had email confirmations. The spa staff was rude! The lady with the severe eyebrows did my pedicure and argued saying I didn't book shellac when I did, complained it would put her off schedule with her next client, then lied saying this was a 'new product' that did not require the UV lamp. So of course the polish didn't set and ruined my shoes and pants. When I went back they said the called their manager (Dan) and he said too bad come back next day.with wet nails! And suddenly no one could speak English anymore once we complained. One of our group spoke French though and heard 3 of the spa ladies making fun and laughing at us. Just avoid this place, what a nightmare!

This spa NEEDS a capacity of 100 people. If you’re looking to go on the weekend or any holiday forget about it.people will be sitting on the ground because there’s no spots to sit. The lockers will be full so you have to carry around your stuff.there was 250 people there and what a waste of money. I hate to say it because when it’s not busy it’s amazing but they let it get to the point where it’s not even relaxing (which is the whole point). Just make sure to call before hand and ask how busy it is so you don’t waste your money.

J'ai vraiment aimé cet endroit. Un spa plutôt petit mais offre certainement une variété de bains et soins. Je trouve que les prix sont très raisonnables aussi. Je recommande!

Spent a lovely day here and took advantage of everything they had to offer. I could have stayed all day but was relaxed within 20 mins of bring in the water with a lovely pineapple ginger mojito! There are three warm baths and one polar bath, Along with two dry and 1 wet sauna. There was one issue, the spa isn't very private. If there was an issue, management took care of it immediately. Great service and reliable staff! Couldn't have had a more beautiful day.

From start to finish the experience was terrible.when arriving at the front desk they seemed like they didn’t really know what was going on and seem flustered, aswell as not charging us properly and having to give us all money back.

I may say the spa is beautiful but when we ordered drinks at the bar/eatery they didn’t even know what was in the food or drinks they were offering and I may add the cashier was quiet sassy

As we entered the spa we were immediately shushed multiple times even tho there’s no signs that say no talking and if they are planning to enforce these rules you should probably have signs up just like nordik, been there 4-5 times and was never told to hush.causes there’s signs that say no talking

Overall 1 Star is the experience I had and will not be returning or giving good feedback to others

I went there because of my friends but I was surprised that is in the middle of buildings and Golf area around where you can hear people play golf talking. I gave 2 stars because the people are working there are very nice.

Compared to a major local competitor, this place is less expensive, closer to Ottawa and was not as packed. Smaller yes, but really not a tough choice.

Our Spa experience was alright. It wasn't my favourite spa I have been to. Wishing there was a steam sauna. The outdoor wooden sauna was SO hot you couldn't even go into the main part. We only lasted a minute or so before we had to get out. (saw other people having the same reaction). It was hard to feel totally restful when there were apartments and hotel rooms overlooking the space. There was landscapers and painters working in the area as well as on the building which didn't help the relaxing feel. The landscape itself had lots of dead cedars and plants. One of the pools there was a large bandaid just sitting there on the edge. I booked my husband for a Swedish massage and he said it was just ok the lady wasn't able to apply strong pressure. I booked myself for a body treatment thinking it would be something different from a massage and I was so utterly disappointed especially for what it cost. The young lady who did the "treatment" clearly was Not a Massage Therapist and often it felt like she didn't know what she was doing or was a little awkward. My relaxing body treatment was just a head, arms, back and legs massage with moisturizing gloves for the hands. $140 seemed extremely overpriced especially when a regular massage is less than that. As well for my experience she cut my appt time by 15 mins.it was supposed to be an hour long but I was dressed and at the check out counter after only 45 mins. I did mention it to the staff and the manager reluctantly gave me a discount and I was so taken aback at the moment that I took the small discount she offered but now that I have had time to think about it the discount that I received was little compared to the service I received. I wish I had been in a better mindset at the time to push a bit harder for more of a compensation. We will most likely never go back and if we do I don't think I would spend my money on treatments or massages. Food was tasty but portion sizes were extremely small.

Great place but they let way too many people in. It gets too packed, not even a chair available. Even let people in after they run out of bracelets.no longer relaxing at that point.actually gets too loud and stressful. Too bad.

J’aime le Koena mais très déçue des deux derniers massages reçus. Possiblement parce que je suis tombée sur la pièce au fond à gauche, on entend toujours les employés parler super fort et les portes claquer. Peu relaxant

We were at the spa on May 27th celebrating a upcoming wedding with the bride to be. We enjoyed ourselves immensely. Staff were very understanding about our inability to follow the “quiet” instructions! We were very satisfied with our time spent.

Best Experience ever had. Pools were so fun the vibe was amazing and relaxing.would go again 10/10

Really nice spa! Staff were friendly and very attentive. The ambience outside in the pool area was nice. Pools were warm and relaxing.
I’d go back for sure. Salt scrub and the steam room were great.

However, I felt like the indoor cafe area was a bit cramped.

Incredibly clean, relaxing and quiet. Really impressed with the workers constantly cleaning and wiping down surfaces and water from seats. Made the whole experience feel very zen. Went during a weekday and it was not busy, which was perfect.

The price is incredibly affordable, and provides a wonderful value. I purchased the gourmet package and needless to say, I definitely got my money's worth! The platter was delicious and the portion was more than enough for one person. I loved the assortment of saunas, baths, and seating areas. Staff members were all incredibly friendly and the spa was very clean and easy to navigate.

I look forward to visiting again very soon!

My favourite spa. I love it there. Brand new, very nice looking, very clean and modern. If you live in the Ottawa/Gatineau reaction it's a must do.

Our Koena spa experience was amazing, we absolutely loved every second of our time there! It is our new favourite place! We went there for a bachelorette party and the staff was incredible, made us feel so welcome and ensured we had a blast! For what they have on the footprint available; it’s a great spot to spend a day. Location for Ottawa/Gatineau residents is prime

Ce spa viendra définitivement changer l'aspect de vivre dans Hull ou Aylmer. Les propriétaires sont chaleureux et l'emplacement est parfait. J'ai déjà très hâte de vivre ma première expérience au spa dès l'ouverture. Félicitations et bon succès!
