Amazing spot for a quick breakfast bite. Their selection of pastries and bread is excellent, and the taste and freshness are worth a trip to this place. Service was good, too. Lastly, their coffee also tasted fresh and well-made.
J'y retournerai certainement!
Lovely little bakery/cafe. Great service and even better food. The sandwiches are amazing. The bread is so fresh. There isn’t a ton of seating so you might have to wait. But definitely worth the wait. Would love to eat here again and try the other items in the menu.
Wow!
I used to go every weekend since I moved to Griffintown, but I am not going there anymore and the reason is terrible customer service. I am a vegetarian, so I always avoided products with meat at this bakery. Yesterday, when I ordered mini miche bleu et noix, I was handed mini miche apero, which is filled with bits of ham (not to my knowledge). I realized that the bread had ham halfway through eating it. Not only was I disgusted at this discovery, but I was also upset at their employee for having gotten my order wrong. Later when I went to confront the very same person for giving me the wrong product, she told me that I was pointing at the mini miche apero. How ridiculous! I had clearly said what I wanted and I had pointed at the right product. The last thing I wanted to hear from their smug employee was an excuse and an accusation for not getting my order right. This kind of customer service is truly detestable.
One of the best brunch’s I had in my life! It tastes so wonderful & portions are more than enough, customer service’s amazing & it takes you right in the middle of Paris! Top notch restaurant! Merci!
One of the best bakery in town. I’ve tried many different ones, from the small family owned place to larger franchises. This one is one of my favourite!
Excellente boulangerie.
OMG. Omg! BEST turkey "burger" (more of a sandwich on a kaiser bun) EVER. Grilled to perfection with red onion and a herb paste that adds SO MUCH FLAVOR. Amazing. Do yourself a favour and try it!
The entrance to this place is behind the building. Totally worth going.everything is exquisite with only the best ingredients. You won't be disappointed. Take a seat and try their menu items.so worthwhile. ️ we'll be back!
Great customer experience, tasty and generous portion. I’ve been there few times and the quality of products and service is consistent. Well done!
If you can, don’t miss their “jambon beurre” traditional French sandwich. It’s, for sure, one the most beautiful and tasty I ever had in my life (quite amazing when you come from France ;-) ) For sure one of the best in Montreal.
The baked goods and food are fantastic, and there's a great variety. The service is friendly, but has trouble keeping up with the heavy traffic during your typical peak hours, especially if you're dining in.
Pastries are great, but the business itself isn’t run all that well. They have certain pastries (eg.almond croissants) that are great but will sell out by 10am, while there will still be a bunch of other kinds left at the end of the day. It seems they simply refuse to acknowledge this/ncrease production accordingly for the products are that are especially popular. Makes no sense…
Great service, great ambiance to sit down and enjoy a meal, coffe it's ok. I would highlight the bakery of this place as is daily fresh made and a lot with care and attention is out into it.
This is a boulangerie where locals frequently go to. The croissant is quite flaky and good but the ham and cheese croissant is our favorite. The ham and cheese croissant is part of the breakfast menu and is made to order. Another thing you may want to try is the chocolate royal cake.
Allez ailleurs
Cool spot for a not your regular eggs and bacon breakfast. Menu has something for everyone and amazing avocado toast will keep you satisfied until lunchtime. Baked goods are all excellent. As are their coffees. You order, pay and within a few minutes its served at your table. Staff is very friendly and efficient. I only wish the big coffee mag they use to serve great coffee would have a handle, as it's very hot and hard to hold.
We tried baguette and sour dough bread toasted and it is one of our favourite breakfast place. They were both served with butter, honey and jam which tasted amazingly good. Definitely going to come back.
I mainly go here for their fresh sandwiches, chocolate mouse cake (amazing), and made to order breads.
Bête a pain always have a variety of breads at different bake levels. Some like softer or firmer, simply need to ask. I also occasionally pre-order hamburger buns in larger amounts, depending on events.
I am not certain what they have against a mechanical bread slicer. They are one mechanical bread slicer away from being one of the best bakeries in the area.
La bête à pain is one of the best bakery in town, their croissants and mousse of chocolat are especially good. They have a wide variety of breads and other high-quality food products (pasta sauces, smoked salmon, snacks, condiments) for sale. They have good coffee and a small selection of wines to take home as well. It definitely is a quintessential store to go to in the neighbourhood.
My favourite in the neighbourhood! Jessica, co-manager, is so friendly and kind, and so are the other people who work there. The baking is wonderful, and they have lots of other kinds of food, wine, even some fancy soap! I get gifts there, or gift certificates, as well as my weekly smoked salmon and creme fraiche. Love this place and its food! I'm very devoted. And they made me feel at home right after I moved here to Montreal in August 2020.
The best bakery in Griffintown, I highly recommend the sweet potatoes latte and the pain au chocolat. The bread was amazing too. Also please, open a shop in Toronto!
It may have just been bad luck, but the fresh sourdough bread we got from them was just uneatable; no taste and chewy as bubblegum, it broke our hearts to throw a loaf away like this: (we’ve gotten other things from them before and they were okay. But far from being really good, which is too bad, as I really want to love them.
À 14h30 y'a déjà pus de baguette? !
Great for brunch, their avocado toast is delicious and generously garnished with baby tomates, cucumbers and eggs on a generous slice of multigrain bread. Prices are very reasonable and the bakery itself is very nice
Superb quality and selection! Sad that they would not sell us a couple of brioche buns to make some burgers at home though. Still, a must go place for good bread.
Fresh baked awesome! Seated quickly by friendly staff. Orders taken just as quickly and the food arrived at the table in short order hot and ready to devour. Delish!
Great place to have a good breakfast. I ordered a french toast and was delicious! The bread selection and pastries are delicious too. Price is ok and service is good too.
Carb lovers rejoice! La Bête à Pain has the most delicious, flaky, buttery, warm French breads. Get here early to avoid the crowds for brunch or just walk right up and order your favorite pastry/bread.
The "pain au chocolat" wasn't to my taste, missed the crispiness and pate feuilleté of a good/fresh chocolatine. The "brioche au brownie" is misleading, the brioche has a little hole at the top and you see a brownie and imagine there's a brownie inside, totally disappointing when you open it and realise that there's less than a nut size of brownie. It should just be called a brioche.
Otherwise, their "croissant aux amandes" was delicious.
Fantastic food. Had a fresh baguette with ham, butter, Dijon, comté cheese, and pickles. Excellent service, friendly and quick. Table seating available, nice decor, perfect for eating inside. Highly recommend.
Beware if you have allergies, they added a coleslaw with peanuts to their menu and told us that they prep it in the same area as all the breads and baked goods.as previously regular customers we are really bummed to not be able to get our baked goods or grab lunch here anymore.
This is amazing French style bakery where we found in Montreal. Their bucket was crispy but soft and really tasted good. They have some eat-in space. It’s good place for quick breakfast in Montreal and highly recommended here!
