I loved this old authentic family owned breakfast place! Genuine, warm welcoming buy the owner / server. The food was great! It was the first time i try the Boudin Noir! It was delicious! All the family works here which give a family vibes to the place. I will definitely come back again!
So the worst thing about traveling is falling in love with food that isn't attainable on the regular. Such is my life after visiting La Binerie which is a whopping 5.5 to 6 hour drive across international borders.
I love (and I mean LOVE) this place. Traditional Canadian comfort food. The Toutiere pie is the best I have had. I am from Maine and I am familiar with the pie having mashed in it. But having it on the side was actually a game changer. Incredible! Chef's Kiss The crust was buttery and flakey. The meat was seasoned perfectly. The mashed potatoes were on point and flavorful. I even enjoyed the steamed veggies.
The poutine was nice with an incredible gravy. I even scraped the bowl to drizzle that gravy on my taters but didn't end up wanting to because they were so good alone. So I just drank the gravy from the spoon instead haha! No shame.
Also, my whole family really loved the pea soup. It was so warm and robust. It could have been all we ate, as it was so filling. I imagine if I lived there in the fall or winter it would be a staple in our take-out rotation for a cozy meal at home. I am sure it hits different and EVEN better during like December or January. It's so yummy. Our server was so kind and even offered us some bread and butter to enjoy with our soup.
If you're looking for a wonderful comfort traditional Canadian meal look no further. If you only had 24 hours in Montreal and could only eat at one spot for dinner, this would be it. I promise you wouldn't be disappointed. I found them on Uber last night but they were already closed or I would have been having a late night treat!
The restaurant is cozy, nothing special or crazy but I wasn't there for decor or ambiance. The waiter (also the owner's son) was hands down the best server we have had in a very very long time (in a post-COVID world). Patient, kind, humble, friendly. I felt like I was at a relatives for a nice meal. Amazing service. He was just the sweetest guy!
My ONLY complaint is that they don't ship on Gold Belly and I didn't have a cooler with me. I would Have gladly come home with a few pies and some soup for my freezer. I am going to be thinking about this and craving it super bad for a very long time!
It was a solo brunch day- I kinda went in blind, honestly I was intrigued by the seating arrangement by looking from outside and felt like today is the day to try a Quebecois brunch. My server was a very sweet french uncle, he was so polite and gave some good suggestions. Loved the ambience and food. Next time definitely going for lunch!
I came here around 8 am and a few people sitting at the countertop area. Ordered a coffee to start the meal. I heard the Baked Beans was the move so I ordered the Baked Beans with Buttered Toast. I also got a slice of the Touriere which is a meat pie with beef and potatoes. The Toast was super super good. Right amount of crunch but softness as well. The Baked Beans had really flavorful oil but the Beans itself were average when it came to flavor. The Touriere was light but really good! I also wanted to try more Quebec food so I ordered the Chomeur Pudding. This was a great sweet little dessert and the waiter said to try it with a little bit of cream so I did that. This was really good with and without the cream. Overall great breakfast spot and would recommend.
My favorites baked beans ever worldwide! Not too sweet, cooked in lard fat, so yummy!
A family run business that serve affordable and delicious classic Quebec food.
First timer, I highly recommend you to try the “Our Traditional Quebec Meal”, you’ll get to try a selection of what Quebec has to offer as well as their fantastic beans!
Feeling hungry? I’d recommend the poutine my favorites are the pulled pork or the ground beef with five pepper sauce. Otherwise you can’t go wrong with the tourtière or the Shepherds pie, they are both filling and tasty option
For the sweet tooth, finish with a warm “chômeur” pudding that become kind of gooey with the cream
Don’t forget to come home with a serving (or multiple ^^) of theirs renowned baked bean!
PS: In case you didn’t get it already, I really really love their baked beans
Went here twice - both times we were rejected being told that the kitchen is closed. Well - here's a suggestion - clarify your hours? ! Indicate that you have separate hours for kitchen (at least by 2PM it seems by the way to anyone wanting to go). Don't claim you're open till 22h without clarifying what exactly is meant to be open until then? Just a simple suggestion.
I'm sharing a moment that happened to my mother and I at this establishment when I was 5. I'm 45 now, to this day I will never forget the abhorrent way we were treated there. This is the only way I know to forgive you. Is to let the world know how evil you acted. It was clear after 10 minutes we we're not welcome. This difficulty we had in getting the attention of wait staff was a red flag. When we tried to order, we were told those items were sold out. It was obviously a lie because people who came after us were eating what we tried to order. So we stayed 30 minutes, enduring this disgusting behavior. I don't think my mom understood. Imagine I'm 5 years old, I remember telling my mom they don't want us here we have to go. To do this to an immigrant with a child is never acceptable. I remember explaining to my mom it's because we are not white and we speak English we are not welcome. The trauma has been done and it's lasted 40 years. Ideally your business should be closed down and labeled as racist. But I'm not here to condemn. I will never receive and apology from the people who treated us poorly. So what I want to do if forgive you. This is the only way I can let it go. I understand management has changed. But your legacy is tainted. If your reading this review I recommend you think twice about giving your money to people with a racist history that's never been acknowledged. I forgive you but I will never forget.
Good food, Good service and affordable price for a great brunch. Tried the fish and chips with a meal option and the portions were very good with a soup, dessert and coffee. Would love to visit again
No idea if this place is some kind of establishment in MTL. I stumbled in here looking for a breakfast sandwich (why is it so hard to find a proper breakfast sandwich in this city?). I waited a long time just for an employee to show up and take my order and then I waited even longer for my order to be ready. The wait and the price were not worth it. I ordered a Western egg sandwich which was decent but skimpy and nothing special. I also ordered a pork sandwich that was excruciatingly dry. I paid $30 for those two sandwiches (to go). What a bad decision I made that morning.
It gets two stars because the waiter was nice. Went with a Friend and my daughter. The food was not good. Beans were bland, my boudin (black sausages) was kind of a mushy texture and a little while after eating I got the most intense stomach cramps and spent the rest of the day at home in the bathroom. My daughter had a single crepe and was fine. Would not recommend and will not go again.
If you’re looking for authenticity, please come here. The food was great and very “Quebecois”! Owner was extremely friendly and provided amazing recommendations, such a nice experience on our visit.
We were so pumped when I saw the reviews and decided to go here last minute because our other choice for brunch was full and we were really hungry. Unfortunately it was a complete disappointment. Toast was burnt and I found a piece of eggshell in my eggs. Honestly is not the end of the world but when you build the excitement we left very disappointed. The staff was nice so that is why I am going with 2 stars.
