Lakeshore General Hospital: Emergency Room

It’s worse hospital I never seen.
The nurses don't follow the order of numbers and give priority to white people, it's too racist.

I don’t know why everyone is always hating on this hospital. I went for an emergency and they took me immediately! They saved my life and the emergency doctor I had was great! The nurses were all very kind (except for one… but that’s one out of like 15). I went back a few months later for an operation, and all the staff were friendly. Then I brought my mom last month and yes the wait was long however, when they finally saw her and realized how urgent her situation was, they operated on her immediately. Overall, I’ve always had good experiences at this hospital.

My friend passed out on an airplane and was transported via ambulance to the ER. He was there for 13 hours, THIRTEEN! And was not seen by the doctor. He eventually got fed up and left. He needed to see the doctor to get clearance to fly back to home to the states. Now he has to take a bus back to the states because of the long wait. This is truly unacceptable! Never go here unless you're bleeding to death, then maybe they will see you in an appropriate time. Smh

I went there at 10 am and left at 2.20 pm.
Staff are friendly and doctors too.
Yes, I waited but it was worth it.

I was sent in by ambulance for injuries from a car accident.waited 10 minutes only.they took my vitals blood tests and ultrasound almost immediately.saw the doctor and was sent for ct scan and x ray. Got results in half an hour. Friendly staff and great doctors and nurses.veey impressed

Worst experience, 14 hours waiting in the emergency my husband sitting in a wheelchair with bad back pain that is killing him, no pain killer given to him and still haven’t seen a doctor.horrible service

Time well spent watching nurses walk around doing nothing while people in pain ask for help. Hours waiting to be seen! “Emergency” should be taken off the sign here.

God help you if you are injured after 5pm or on a weekend. Like everyone else in these reviews, currently dealing with a 9 hour wait time and no sign of being called anytime soon. Why did they even bother to use an ambulance to bring my pregnant wife here, she would’ve been more comfortable staying at home until the morning and been treated in the same amount of time.

Edit: That being said, it seems to be an issue of availability rather than the competence of the actual medical staff, who, now that we’ve finally been seen 11 hours later, are competent with a good bedside manner

Extremely dangerous, place I you want to die alone in the waiting room go there. If you are an immigrant without insurance they take your cash quickly (about 1050$) for the ER. But let you suffer in the waiting room for 14 hours. Next time I’ll take a
Uber to go to CHUM or Montreal General. This hospital should be closed ASAP

If you'd like to die waiting in the emergency room, come to this hospital. If you have an emergency do not. I REPEAT DO NOT, Come to this hospital. Waited 12 hours and never got seen by a doctor. Please save your life and go to another hospital or die here.

Staff here is superb!
The hospital looks heavily outdated and the wait time can be long, but my god do they make it up with the professionalism when being seen!

Emergency visit for a bad fall. I was impressed by the speed -in and out in 3hrs, including x-rays (broken arm) and CT scan for my head. Everyone was very nice, attentive and doctor Garber was efficient. A really pleasant surprise after all the bad reviews.

In emergency at 2 30 pm.tirage 5: 30pm sent to emergency room with bed near entrance.made to sit in gown that was sleeveless. Freezing.no blankets.gown Half buttons gone.bleeding, giant cyst. Infection.nautilus.pain.in pain.can't sit or stand. Complained.told to wait for doctor.all this 7 hrs later. Blood sugar dropping.no food.told I needed to eat.said wait for doctor.another 45 min.to 2 hrs.emergency was quiet.only 8 people were helped in that time! ¡ I know it's COVID.nurses burnt out.but hey.this is ridiculous to put someone very sick through.no one I saw was rushing.up to. Another 2 hrs sitting half naked freezing. I walked out.busses over at midnight.
Doctors need to to be trained in people dealing and stop using COVID as an excuse to slow down

Long waiting hours for emergency.
When a patient can't sit for long hours and if they make them sit and not taking any action for 4 hours 30 min is completely unacceptable.
The word 'emergency' should remove from the hospital. Completely unhappy with the first experience. Keep on getting bad marks to this hospital. Hospital management should take responsibility and save this hospital.

My ER experience was good. Triage was quick, girls at reception were nice and gentle. A doctor sent us to do the xray.all stuff was friendly.

Staff working extra hard here, everyone very serious trying there best to keep it all together.

Hospital staff not wearing masks! I went for an imaging test at the Lakeshore General Hospital a few days after Christmas and was shocked to see that the woman at the Information Desk and the woman at the office that issues hospital cards were NOT wearing masks! No wonder this hospital has so many COVID outbreaks. Where is the managerial oversight?

Please, never come here even if your life depends on it. The excruciating, vomit inducing pain I was in was apparently not enough to get me to see a doctor in 6 hours.

Edit: back here a second time unfortunately, and it’s even worse. I was sent from the clinic to the ER under suspicion of ruptured intestines, I am crying from pain and yet it’s been THREE HOURS and there are still TEN PEOPLE waiting before me for THE TRIAGE. Honestly, it’s hard to speak politely and not swear, when it’s been two hours since they last called someone to triage.

Alot of people give this hospital a bad rap, but I've always received good care here. Been there a few times this year and although I had to wait a bit (a few hours maybe) it always went well. The nurses were always pleasant. Dr. Rabipour and Dr. Peng are both very good. Wait times in our system are unavoidable. I never had to wait more than a couple of hours for anything. Once I got called in it always went pretty fast from that point.

Emergency was empty with 2 people before me.
It still took 3.5 hours to get into the waiting room to see a doctor. Which then also took 1
Extra hour of siting on a dirty bed waiting for the doctor which looked less than enthusiastic to help me, I could tell she didn’t care and that’s sad for such a young doctor….

I was in shock at how dated and old this hospital looks…

4 hours in the emergency waiting room before i left from exhaustion. I know an ear infection that had me vomiting and spinning on the ground for the 4 hours before going there may not seem life threatening, but a hospital not processing 4 people in the emergency room all night should be investigated. A young man had scraped his knee, and they left him waiting till he also gave up.dressing a surface wound takes 5 minutes by a nurse.

While i was waiting, i repeatedly heard a group of administrators/nurses laughing out loud just behind the glass in the waiting area, facing the young wounded man. I guess the people in pain are not their problem.vending machines are placed in the waiting area, the sound from their compressors were so loud, the Canadian Tire garage waiting room was quiter.

Last, but not least. Flies, and insects on a dirty floor in a hospital. I am speachless on that one.

12 hours wait time in the emergency. Why is it even called emergency at this point? Even if you’re in a dying condition, don’t come to this hospital, they think peoples life is a joke.

I noticed the avg review score for Lakeshore is rather low, which struck me as odd since every experience I’ve had there has been very positive, so I wanted to share a recent great experience I had there:

I had to go to the ER around 1 PM on a Sunday with intense pain. Despite being clearly understaffed, they triaged me quickly, got me on pain meds pretty quickly too, and were very thorough in trying to figure out what was wrong with me (while I was there I had a blood test, urine test, echocardiogram, abdominal X-ray, AND abdominal CT scan!).

Bedside manner for everyone I spoke with was good, and although I ended up being there a few hours in total, it was just because of the sheer number of tests, with short waits between each—the initial pre-triage wait and the wait to deal with my pain were both very short.

In addition to dealing with the immediate problem and doing enough tests to be sure what was wrong, they also gave me the right prescriptions to cover the situation for a while and also a referral to a specialist for future action.

All said and done: great experience, I was very impressed.:)

I didn't have a particularly bad impression of this hospital, but what I had this afternoon, it was crazy! In the last two weeks, I have probably contracted novel coronavirus, cough, nausea and headache, and I have a very bad back pain, which has seriously affected my sleep. The other symptoms are improving, but the back pain. I would like to know the cause. I came to the emergency room around 12 o 'clock in the afternoon, but it was less than 6 o 'clock in the evening. I couldn't wait any longer, so I told my husband that we should go home and stop watching. When we got to the emergency department, a medical staff rushed over like crazy and said, "go go go, go out go out, get out, get out, " repeatedly saying 10 or 20 times, while still pushing us, I was shocked, did not know what to say, can only say to him, you are so rude.this is a man wearing eyes, is the emergency department mouth of the medical staff! He must apologize for his rudeness and discrimination against patients or stop working!

I went to the ER last week and I was really well taken care of. The whole staff was working hard and doing their best to help everyone. Dr. Bacon is extremely compassionate and all the nurses (Sam, Lawrence and others) made me feel like I was in good hands. Thank you for everything!

Worst hospital, if i can give 0, it will be there. The nurse in the front desk very rude. I have heart problem, i could not waiting too long time with the mask. She even can't give me some advice. So bad service! Waste the tax we were paid!

The Worst hospital and definetly the Worst staff. Dans les soins intensifs a l'hôpital il y a une infirmière au nom de Émilie elle n'est pas professionnel. Elle traite les gens comme des citoyens de seconde classe. Elle se pense la reine des soins. She should be fired. De plus, ils ont laissé mon père pendant 3 jours sans eau. Maintenant il a des problèmes de reins. Mon père nous annonce qu'ils ne viennent jamais le voir pour lui demander s'il va bien. C'est le.pire hôpital au monde ils doivent être inspecter car ils sont vraiment des tirants.

My father recently underwent a hernia surgery here. The surgeon was great, and the nursing staff also. They made sure he was fully functional before his release on the same day. At 86 years old he really needed good care and that is what he received. Well done!

Very chaotic hospital and incomptent staff from nurses to doctors.
Try to avoid if you can. Went 3 times and not diagnosed correctly.

I went there at 10.30 pm and i got my turn at 4.30 am but once you are in, it is one of the best hospital. Nurses are super nice even everyone on duty at this hospital was nice. They treat you as a family. Giving 1 less star bcoz of too much waiting time

What a waste of time! I went for my back pain. At least I could walk a little bit when I went their. After suffering the bad tempered nurse and a Doctor full of ego. I was sent home saying that I will be Ok, while today I even can't move from my bed. Awful experience!

Worst hospital I've ever been.
8hrs of waiting is unacceptable, they really don't care even if you are old or in pain. It's hard to watch old people waiting more than us. What a torture. This will be my last. To those who are searching for care, I don't recommend this hospital. TERRIBLE.

You must waite about 5 hours to see a doctor and you not allow to stay with patient and let him alone to waite the doctor Mistreatment from the securite.

This hospital deserves minus Ten (- 10) stars.
My wife was supposed to see an ophtamologist there at the emergency.
She arrived at 1300 on December 6 th. The girl at the pre-triage screws up and
my wife file wasn’t set. Between 15 00 and 1800 my wife seeing that everybody was going in before her
Went to the guichet #2and asked if there was something irregular with her file. She was said to go back and wait for her turn. I arrived at 1800 and later By questioning the personal we found that her file was not created in the system. I asked them to act accordingly to compensate for the error. By seeing the body language of the person who told me: I will take care of it I deducted that I was lied to.
Some people were defensive and unprofessional as they refuse to give me their name.
In a respectable institution personal wear a name tag, not at the lakeshore.
My perception and my wife’s is that they did not compensate for their error and that they took revenge on us because we were trying to get an equitable treatment. They thought we were lying like many people do to take advantage of a screwed up system, we are not that kind of people, we have class in a system that has none. We were ignored and lied to. Is what is happening in the us with the Trump administration start to leach up to here. I am starting to worry.
