We booked the Espace Canal for our wedding, and overall we had a great experience. I would actually give 4.5 stars!
The whole event went off without a hitch thanks to the coordination of Alexa and Oulaya.
The food was fantastic and the service during the event was phenomenal. The bartender, Danielle, was awesome! She knew how to handle the 150 person crowd and kept the vodka flowing! Also, Tony, the gentleman taking care of our head table was a delight. He was super attentive to us, and made sure that we lacked for nothing.

My only suggestion would be to make the initial communications easier. A lot of these initial communication happens through e-mail, and there were many seperate PDFs, which I would get lost in. I would suggest creating one PDF package with everything instead of sending as seperate attachments (or making a mini binder for those getting married). You might be pros, but for someone like me organizing for the first time, we are dealing with a lot of newness and vendors. Centralized info always helps.

But as I said, overall amazing experience, would defenitly use their reception services again:)

We had our wedding in l’Espace Canal a few weeks ago and everyone had a great time. The food was good and the wait staff was good as well and the gentleman who was taking care of our table was extremely attentive to our needs and requests during the dinner. (I think his name is Tony?)

The planning of the actual wedding was not exactly the experience I expected. The person who was in charge of us left a few months before the event and I was transferred to someone I was not able to speak to on the phone at all. I left many messages and would only get emails back which made it a little complicated because of the back and forth.

The music during the event was good but I am not going to lie, the MC was not exactly what we wanted mainly due to the fact he was making awful jokes during the reception. Maybe he thought this would be his debut at the comedy club. I had asked for it to be announced when we were cutting the cake and when the desert table came out and it was not done so no one knew there was anything going on. Lastly, the bar tender was absolutely hammered by 9pm. This was not appropriate at all and many of the guests asked me “where I found her” as she was unfortunately pouring straight liquor in her mouth.

Overall, I would still recommend this venue in the hopes that the support and service is a little better when it comes down to organization as this does cause a ton of extra stress on the people getting married. We understand that there is a shortage of workers however; it would have been nice for our coordinator to be a little more attentive and responsive to voicemails. We took the turnkey package as we are out of the country and wanted to have as little to plan as possible and it does save having to figure a ton of stuff out so we were happy with that choice.

We made 3 visits to the venue to make sure the arrangements were going to be done the way we wanted. My fiancee and I and a few family members arrived early at the venue. Thank goodness we did. The set up that we wanted and was agreed upon by Laura, was wrong. Laura was there and we told her it is not correct. The seating was crammed together, they did not leave enough space for the bride to walk down, there were not enough tables for the guests. IT WAS TOTALLY WRONG ACCORDING TO THE PLAN WE GAVE LAURA AND SHE HAD AGREED TO. The company that we hired to dress the tables and centre pieces had already mostly set up. So at this point our family, my fiancee and I had to dismantle everything and move the tables and chairs and begin the set-up from the start. This was ONE hour before the ceremony. As if a wedding day is not stressful enough we had to deal with this. While we were re-arranging everything Alexa walks in and makes a face and a comments as to why we are doing this. Well, if they had done it correctly in the first place then there would not have been an issue. Another problem was in the food set-up area. My wife had clearly asked Laura where all the extra chairs will be placed, She had assured us not to worry, they will be stacked outside in the hallway. Well, of course, that did not happen. They had stacked them in the room by the food. Exactly what we did not want because it looked unprofessional. We had ordered special table cloths to cover the tables and table legs completely. We told Laura exactly how we wanted them. Her comment was, "we know, we do this all the time. " Fair enough and we left it in her hands. Well, obviously they do not know because it was not done right and again my wife was kneeling down trying to arrange the tablecloths at the last minute.
Another issue was the fact that we had the space until 10 p.m, as clearly marked in the contract. At 8: 30ish the staff started blowing out candles and then began removing the centre pieces and by 9 p.m. They began setting up tables for their next event the following day. We felt rushed! Some of the guests even commented as to why.
All in all the food was great, the staff, especially Jamie and the bartender and Amber were very helpful.
Unfortunately we did not get what we were promised or paid for so that is the reason for a 1 star rating.

Nous nous sommes mariés à l'Espace Canal en septembre dernier. Tout c'est bien déroulé la journée même. Le service lors du repas était rapide et le staff très courtois. Toutefois, puisqu'il n'y avait qu'une seule personne au bar, le service était parfois lent. Nous étions 120 personnes.

La planification de notre mariage a duré 2 ans, la personne initialement responsable de notre dossier a quitté à environ 1-2 mois avant notre mariage et c'est à partir de ce moment-là que le délai de communication avec l'Espace Canal a été plus long.

Nous avons planifié la pratique de notre cérémonie la semaine avant notre mariage et à notre grand étonnement à notre arrivée nous nous sommes aperçu qu'il y avait un événement à l'Espace Canal. Nous avons donc fait notre pratique au jardin. Au final, cela nous a pas dérangé de faire notre pratique au jardin, mais nous aurions apprécié que la coordonnatrice nous fasse part qu'un événement aurait eu lieu en même temps.

Si vous considérez organiser votre mariage à l'Espace Canal à l'automne, je vous suggère fortement d'ajouter le service de terrasse nordique (chaufferette, chocolat chaud, feu et guimauve). Nos invités ont beaucoup apprécié! Demandez à ce que les chaufferettes soient installés dès le cocktails si vous le faite à l'extérieur.

Merci encore à l'Espace Canal et au staff. Notre mariage a vraiment été une journée de rêve!

Nous avons utilisé les services de L’ambroisie pour notre mariage.
Un grand succès. Tout a été parfait. Nourriture excellente. Drink excellent. Personnel attentionné et passionné.
Un gros merci spécialement a Alexa qui nous a accompagné tout au long de notre processus. Si vous aviez un hésitation pour ce lieu allez y a 100%.

The prices at the bar were the worst price gouging I have ever seen. I ordered one single rum and coke (with sailor Jerry, nothing top shelf) with one additional shot of sailor jerry and was charged $39.50

For reference the price of a full bottle of sailor jerry is 31.75 right now.

The venue itself was fine. The DJ was not great.

We had our wedding here in Aug 2022 and it exceeded all expectations. Everything was perfect! Alexa was so organized, it all went according to plan. The food was exceptional and the ceremony was so special.

Highly recommend!

J'ai réservé l’Ambroisie pour mes 30 ans. Dans le contrat, il était question d’avoir accès au restaurant à partir de 12h jusqu’à 24h. Par ailleurs, lorsque j’ai appelé, deux jours avant l'évènement (tel qu'indiqué dans le contrat) afin de confirmer le nombre d’invités, on m’a avisé que puisque je n’avais pas pris le forfait DJ (à 800$) ; la salle de danse n’était pas incluse et que je devais terminer mon évènement à 22h. Information qui ne m’avait pas été transmise lors de ma réservation ou de la signature du contrat. De plus, dans les plans de salles transmis, la salle de danse était incluse. Ils ont accepté de prolonger à 23h mais cela n’empêche que ce n’était pas ce qui était indiqué dans mon contrat.
Je leur avais indiqué que j’arriverais à 15h pour commencer les décorations, personne n’était présent lorsque je suis arrivée. On m’a même fait remarquer qu’ils avaient dit aux serveurs de venir à 16h, alors que 15h était bien écrit sur nos échanges courriels.
Puis, à mon arrivée, on m’a avisé que pour un évènement de 30 à 50 personnes, l’espace n’était pas réservé exclusivement à mon groupe d’invités et pourrait possiblement être occupé par les utilisateurs du restaurant, mais de ne pas m’inquiéter, qu’il était rare que les utilisateurs du restaurant viennent manger puisqu’ils sont habitués à avoir des évènements les vendredis soirs. Cela dit, quelques clients se sont quand même présentés au début de l’évènement. Par ailleurs, la directrice de réservation m’a dit que je devais me considérer chanceuse puisqu’elle travaille depuis longtemps dans l’évènementiel et que j’aurais rarement eu une salle comme celle-ci, à ce prix-là. Ce qui est vrai, mais je n’avais pas non plus eu toutes les informations afin de prendre une décision éclairée.
Nous voulions aussi laisser des indications pour nos inviter afin qu’ils sachent où aller puisque plusieurs évènements avaient lieu le même soir dans différentes salles. Ils ne nous l’ont pas permis et n’ont pas non plus donné de raison pour cela. Le son des haut-parleurs du restaurant était trop faible. Une fois que tous mes invités sont arrivés, nous n’entendions presque plus la musique même si le son était soi-disant au maximum. Cela n’a pas empêché quand même, qu’une fois que tout soit géré, que nous passions un bon moment, c’est pour cela que je donne plutôt 2 étoiles. Je veux aussi mentionner que Danielle, la barmaid et serveuse a fait un EXCELLENT travail. Elle était attentive à tous mes invités, venait m’aviser de toute information à propos de l’alcool restant et de la coordination avec la nourriture, vraiment un bijou! Et la nourriture était quand même bonne.

We celebrated our wedding at Espace Canal last weekend and it was the day of our dreams. Alexa has been a joy to work with through the entire planning process. These haven't been easy times for the industry, but despite pandemic closures and labour shortages, L'Ambroisie has managed to retain a dedicated, amazing staff full of people who clearly love working there, and they made our big day awesome. The weather cooperated to give us a beautiful sunny day and we got our dream wedding ceremony in the gardens along the canal. The party after was fantastic - the food, drinks, setup, everything went off without a hitch. They customized the menu based on our feedback and were so accommodating and flexible with our requests. Special shout-out to Alexa and team for accommodating our unique craft beer and whisky requests. To couples looking for a beautiful venue for their wedding, look no further!
