Update: The second time I've been there. Waited in line for 1h to get very low quality, overpriced French toast! Parts of it were plain bread with no cream-egg, and parts of was RAW! It's really not easy to make bad French toast! I really don't understand why this place is so popular
My previous review: The negative point was that the meals did not include fruits. If you order eggs Benedict, that's only eggs and muffins, no side dish. Plus, they had NO waffle which is my favorite:/
The huge lines deterred me from trying this place before - but all lines exist for a reason right? Waited about an hour to get a table with my friend which built up my appetite even more. I can see how this place built so much hype around it - very well-executed brunch spot. The wait time does not reflect on the wait times for food - very reasonable even at full capacity. The portions here are fantastic depending on the plate you order. Prices are a bit high for Brunch but they have the reputation to justify it. Every part of my brunch platter was brilliant. The service was also very good as well, attentive even with so many tables to look after. The tables are very close together to increase the capacity which is a bit uncomfortable, but of course it helps the long wait times a bit as well. I'm glad I checked out the oldest location. This place has solidified it's status as a Montreal-famous brunch spot, which is quite the title given how much competition this category has.
Best breakfast I’ve ever had. I’m from Gatineau and have made the trip back and forth just for the food. The decor is also very cool. Servers amazing and coffee is also perfect! Can’t say enough about this place!
The service was excellent. We were told at first that we would have to wait 30-45min but after 5min we were called in to be seated. The waiter was amazing and our food came quickly. The food was good and the portions were huge so be prepared to have some leftovers. The detox smoothie was definitely worth the price as it was big and delicious. We ordered the salmon rose Benedictine, the carrot cake pancakes and the dejeuner fruité. Also the bathrooms were very cool.
Pros: Food is good, friendly staff, relatively quick turn around. Cons: always a line up 1-2 hours, loud music while you eat, some of the staff is consistently confusing the drink orders (they are probably tired from the fast turn around).
"WAKE UP! " That is what the decor of l'Avenue screams at you with its vivid colours and loud ornaments hanging from the walls and ceiling. Along with the stimulating and lively ambiance comes a sensationally creative and enticing menu loaded with fresh and tasty recipes with which you cannot go wrong no matter what your choice is ; every breakfast we've had here is a delicate, graceful dance of flavours.
Didn’t think I would be impressed as I was already expecting great food and service but yes, I was impressed. Everything about this place is amazing. Expect a long wait in line if you arrive after 10 during the weekend.
Best breakfast i ever had. I was overwhelmed by the choices on the menu. Decided to go for Indecisive and it was a lot even for two people. The lemon pancakes with blueberry coulis was mouth watering. My wife ordered the pink salmon benny, which was delicious too. Don’t miss the Nutella coffee. Also there was a huge line up at 10. We were there on two consecutive days. Try to be there before or around 9: 30
You will be hard pressed to find fluffier pancakes. But I really wanted to leave this review to ensure that all patrons that dine here use the washroom which is not a place you'd want to find yourself if you were high.
My friend suffered from food poisoning after eating potato’s from the restaurant in the morning. They were not even picking call when we were trying to contact them regarding this issue. This was a horrible experience.
Went twice this month to this branch. Food quality is good but I found it over rated. Portions were insanely large. This is a place for teenagers who burn and need these crazy quantities. I don't recall seeing a single table without leaving so much food. To me, food waste should be something to address. Plates can easily be shared by two. But to be fair, service was excellent and the wait was still worth it.
Amazing place for brunch! We went on Wednesday morning so there was no line up, we were seated right away. Lots of options to choose from the menu, good drink selection as well. Honestly, every option sounded amazing. We ended up getting the Indecisive with the lemon ricotta pancakes as well as the Sweet Savoury+Crunchy Egg Benedict. Both were SOO good! French toast and pancakes were so fluffy. Their potatoes surprised me, very well seasoned and crispy. Would definitely come back here.
That's the place you have to go to for brunch when you are in Montreal. It's worth waiting around 1 hour in line to be seated. All the food our group ordered were all yummy, big portion for a reasonable price. We got free shots which really set up the mood for a nice walk around the area. This is not to mention a very creative washroom, hanging motorcycle and dj. It was my first time and definitely not the last time.
