The food was not bad. Details that made it a subpar experience were as follows: we had a reservation but had to wait 15 min before being seated; the whiskey I ordered was running out (unfortunately you can see these things when seated at the bar), so I was given about 75% of what's usual without explanation; I waited 45 min for a small plate of ravioli. Overall, the overhead was a bit much.
The taco place next door was fantastic.

I have been going to Lawrence for many years and they have been consistently great on all fronts: taste of the food, quality of the service, etc. It is also a restaurant that has character, its own unique identity/charm (in a city where there are so many restaurants like Montreal, it is very hard for a restaurant to have its own cachet. They have it).

Ambiance feutrée, service très compétent et agréable. Le menu dégustation se décline en plusieurs petites portions savoureuses et originales mais très satisfaisantes. Une note parfaite pour une soirée en amoureux.

[Brunch] J'ai rarement été aussi agréablement surpris par un restaurant!
Le service était impeccable, les prix inclus le pourboire.
Les huîtres étaient délicieuses, les burgers fantastiques. Tous les plats sont bien arrangés avec un mélanges de saveurs balancés et recherchés. Les frites avec leur mayonnaise maison étaient super bonne.
Un délice, je recommande fortement!

I went to a brunch at Lawrence following advices from friends and websites. I was not disappointed. The staffs are very friendly. Work fast and very professional. Food is amazing. Different than the usual menu from other brunches. Lawrence feels like a fancy brunch. Food is amazing with a diversity of taste. I am so lucky to have the opportunity to eat a brunch there. On the other side, the place is small and waiting to get a table can be long. But the wait is worth it.

I tried a lot of stuff on the menu but I mostly come for their burger here. The burger is great but very inconsistent, sometimes its cooked medium, sometimes medium rare. The last time I went the buns were kind of burned but I didn't have time to ask for another one since it was near the curfew hour

If ever you are missing salt for your kitchen just order the burger. Its got more than enough. The bacon is soft and limps. Not well cooked. The bread was soggy. The burger was so salty, i stopped half way before my heart stopped.

Paid 54$ for 2 burgers and fries. I do not mind paying a higher price but this was a big dissapointment.

Food was excellent especially the delicious desserts. Main disappointment was portion sizes where small.

Great brunch, pretty classic dishes but done beautifully. Had the English Breakfast and it was delicious, the sausage especially was tasty.

Coffee is fine as well.

Great spot in a hip area, perfect for foodies with a lovely wine list and excellent servers. Especially loved the items made with local crab, mmm. We will be back! The owner was especially nice to us, seated us at at table even though our reservation was at the bar. Great neighborhood joint.

Service extraordinaire! Tout était délicieux surtout la raie. J'ai enlevé 1 étoile car portions trop petites. On a commandé plusieurs choses mais on avait toujours un peu faim et on était 3 filles donc messieurs auraient probablement eu très faim encore. Ajouter des choix d'accompagnement comme salade ou légumes au menu auraient peut-être aider. Mais en gros excellent resto a découvrir.

I've made Lawrence my weekly brunch place. I often go there to do some work, and the wait is minimal most times for a spot at the bar (though it can be 20-30 minutes easily for a group, but the area is nice, so you can go for a walk and they'll call you when your table is ready). The food is tasty (scones are a must), coffee is good, and their apple juice is delicious as well. Very attentive staff, genuinely nice people despite how busy the place can be. Would recommend highly.

Service guindé, portions petites et mal équilibrée. Forcé de sortir rapidement pour libérer la table malgré une facture de 450$ pour 4 personnes. Never again.

Tout ce que j'ai mangé était bon. Et pourtant la cuisine anglaise n'est pas très réputée et pas ma favorite. Venir tôt ou être patient.

I enjoyed my brunches the few times i went there but had a less positive experience when it comes to dinner. The plates are very small although they’re meant to be shared. However, it’s hard to share something you would otherwise eat in a single spoonful.

I’d give it a 3-star but the service and drinks were quite good. Otherwise food was okay and way overpriced.

My wife and I arrived around 5: 00 PM on a Saturday. We were sat relatively quickly although the table was small. The service was prompt although a little cool and impersonal. Our meal was fine, but not memorable. Presentation could have been more inspired. I realize this is just my opinion. I am by no means a food critic. Overall, our Lawrence experience was nice, but warmer service and more curated presentation would have prompted me to give more stars.

Great atmosphere and interesting menu. Service was excellent and very accommodating to my gluten allergy.

Service chaleureux (beaucoup mieux que le staff de l’an dernier). Bouffe correct, mais sans plus. Moins savoureux que chez le petit frère « Larry’s ». Les plats sont intéressants, mais manque de saveur et peu élaboré. Par contre, Les drinks sont déliiiiiicieux. Belle déco, ambiance tamisé.

Bref, plus intéressant pour prendre un verre que manger.

I've been to Lawrence for both dinner and brunch, and I prefer their brunch (dinner is delicious but other spots are better). The brunch menu has classic British fare featuring meat from their butchery up the street. The interior has recently gotten a revamp and damn does it look good. Highly recommend, although wait times can be long on weekends.

I really enjoyed their BRUNCH menu and chose a plate with polenta - it was delicious and definitely not something I could cook at home. However, I do wish their front entryway had a little more privacy as you usually have to wait for a table. I find it uncomfortable and distracting for myself as well as people enjoying their meals.
A very posh restaurant in a quiet part of the Plateau. Would recommend to call beforehand for any food allergies.

Food was really good. Can't complain about anything really. Locally fresh food from their butcher nearby. You can taste it. Service was excellent. Samuelle = adorable. Place is real nice too. I'd go again.

Beautiful place. The renovations give it a cozy feel and it is wonderful to sit at the bar. The food is outstanding. Pigs brain, sea urchin, clams, 'nduja.great ingredients, all very well executed. Kudos to Chef Marc Cohen and the Laurence team.

Excellent service and great cocktails. The food was good but a little precious and a meal that is actually filling would be super expensive - we spend $100 on food without feeling satisfied. Excellent Jerusalem artichokes though!

My family who is out of town wanted to go somewhere for breakfast. I figured i would take them somewhere more interesting than Chez Cora, expectations etc.

I picked this place because of the large amount of positive reviews. I expected a very hipster resto, and i was right on the dot!

It’s definitely a fancy hipster breakfast place, where you’ll get a delicious gourmet style plate. They even serve alcohol for those who want to get an early buzz.

Don’t expect alot of food like you would get at other breakfast places! You get smaller quantity but higher quality. So if your family expects alot of eggs and bacon and hash browns (which mine did lol - stay clear!)

The menu rotates alot, and the reason why i’m deducting a star is because they didn’t have this really delicious looking dish of baked eggs that i saw other people posting online. I was really looking forward to that. I ended up ordering something with leeks, and i hate onions.but i guess that would be mostly my fault!

And if you end up going, you must try the scone. The donuts were ‘okay’ - but i’d order the scone only next time.:)

Expect to pay around $25 a person without alcohol and close to $40 with alcohol.
