Le Boucan Smokehouse

Good spot for some comfort food. The meats tasted good, maybe a bit too much sauce on them. Would have liked to taste the meat better. The sides were ok, nothing fancy, since the center piece are the smoked meats of course. We were 4 and shared three plates. Didn’t dare try the bacon brownie for dessert, though!

We went to Le Boucan a while ago and the food was delicious and the portions were very filling. We tried the PULLED PORC POUTINE, the SMOKED BACK RIBS, the MACARONI WITH CHEESE and the 5 NAPKINS BURGER.

The staff was friendly and diligent however, the service was a bit slow. From inside, the place is a little small and, it can get tight when crowded but, overall it was a good experience.

Friendly service BUT the food is really subpar & dare I say gross compared to any other smokehouse bbq we’ve ever had. For the first time ever, we actually threw away the food bc it was not pleasant to eat. The chicken in the chicken sandwich is extremely dry and under-seasoned. The fries in all the dishes are just over cooked, thin and sour. You can’t enjoy the potato flavor because it’s cut extremely thin and has no substances. The coleslaw is also very under-seasoned, and mostly tastes sugary. The poutine sauce with the pulled pork mostly also tastes very sweet but the fries, again were thin, burnt, and sour so it was like eating shoe laces with sauces. The mac and cheese was the only good dish BUT the bacon was very scarce, and the dish was COLD. There was no good mouth-feel or positive item on the menu after spending 100$ on this place. Overall very friendly staff but the food is not something we will ever order again. Gross on many flavor levels

If you're into spicy food, this is THE spot. Their Scoville veggie burger is top notch! A burger that was actually spicy!

My partner and I shared the pit boss for lunch and it was more than enough! My fav was the ribs, which were smothered with delicious bbq sauce. The chicken and pulled pork were also full of flavour (the chicken was especially juicy). I loved the potato salad, fries, and coleslaw. Our waitress was also attentive and nice. I loved the diner like atmosphere and decor. I’m glad I found this place!

I do wish the pit boss came with brisket too though!

Curds in the poutine were cold. All of the food I received seemed a bit cold (def not hot, like fresh BBQ should be). Grilled vegetables were barely cooked and still a little crunchy, and again not hot. Underwhelming food experience but staff were friendly and drinks were great. Def not worth the $$.

Pour les amateurs de fumoirs, tout est bon! J'y vais régulièrement et je suis toujours satisfait! Les incontournables ; Pitt boss, 5 napkin Burger, crevette cajun, soupe au tomates fumée et sans oublier le old fashion du boucan!

Boucan never disappoints. I have been here multiple times over the years, and I am always pleased by the service and the delicious BBQ. The ribs are tender, the pulled pork poutine is scrumptious, and even the desserts are fun! I recommend Boucan to anyone who loves good bbq.

Nice backyard patio with a good atmosphere and great service. Our group ordered paloma pitchers to share and it was pretty good! Their ribs are amazing, and their brisket sandwich was the favorite.

Pros: pulled pork was decent, chicken was ok.

Cons: If I was served this food at a pizza chain, it would be alright, but it was subpar when it comes to smoked BBQ joints. Maybe we went on a bad night because clearly people seem to like this place. The ribs were dry, the mac and cheese was more creamy than cheesy and the sides and desserts were just ok. Also, I'd probably serve pulled pork with a bun or some form of bread.

Biggest negative: the place is not clean. And by place, I mean the kitchen. The bathrooms are also quite dirty. This is a BBQ joint. People will invariably eat some things with their hands and will need to wash them. The bathroom should be kept clean.

The staff was very efficient and friendly and made an effort to acomodate my girlfriend and I, who had just come from an event in fancy clothing which we didn't want dirtied. However the food, for a so called "smokehouse" was dissapointing. I had the brisket sandwhich, which wasnt exactly tough, but sinewy and didn't have that juicy fall off the bone quality of good brisket. The sandwich was crowded with mushrooms, cheese and onions, which wasnt a very good mix and just felt like filler trying to hide the lack luster meat.

My girlfriend had the salad with chicken.
Heres the problem with salads. When you put all the interesting things on top over a big bed of lettuce, you eat all the stuff on top and are left with a boring and wasted bed of greens. And the stuff on top didnt even complement one another, and just tasted bland. The chicken was cold and tasteless, and the light lemon dressing was a little too light for how unseasoned everything else was.

I'm glad to see this place lasting. They serve tasty meat dishes and drinks for good prices. The atmosphere is nice and casual. There is an indoor area and a terrace in the back. Both are comfortable and strike the right balance of being lively without being too loud. You can enjoy the company of your friends in an upbeat environment without having to shout. The service is friendly and inviting. This is a very good option for meat lovers or people looking for a casual drink.

Pitboss platter is the go to - a great combo of ribs, chicken, pulled pork and fries. Comes with two sides - the slaw was okay, potato salad was quite good.

Meats had a great smokey flavour, and they provide two additional sides of BBQ sauce.

Chicken was tender though the breast was slightly dry.

Pulled Pork very tender, good sauce ratio and okayish portion.

Ribs tender, great flavours.

Good for two people with leftover potential. Decent value and great flavours.

Doesn't take AMEX.

Je suis allée diner avec un groupe de 16 personnes samedi et on a eu un service rapide, organisé et courtois. Les portions étaient généreuses et la nourriture excellente. À ne pas manquer: la tarte au babeurre qui est à se pitcher à terre. Bravo à toute l’équipe du Boucan qui nous a très bien traité.

Fist thing you should know is it’s a bit smaller place rather than you saw in the picture but it’s very cozy and good place. Very tasty foods, specially the desserts. They have a good bar as well, I liked the scotch they suggested.

As my first real meal in Montreal, I'm impressed. A spicy sauced poutine combined with juicy pulled pork has me salivating over every bite.

OMG it was one of the best poutine and burger I ate with healthy grilled vegetables and salmon salad for a well balanced dinner. The waitress was super friendly, I strongly recommend that place.

Très mauvais service à la clientèle. Nous avons appelé plusieurs vendredi de suite pour commander et la cuisine n’est jamais ouverte malgré les heures d’ouverture jusqu’à 23h00. Nous avons appelé à 21: 00,21: 30,22: 00 et n’avons jamais pu passer une commande. La qualité de ce restaurant a vraiment diminué depuis quelques mois. Nous ne les recommanderons plus.

Best smoked BBQ burger I ever had! This place is the ultimate place for BBQ! Their homemade BBQ sauce is the secret. Their fresh products smoked to perfection are a delish. If you love BBQ and burgers, you can't miss this place. The only inconvenient is the restaurant's size, it is very small but don't be fooled by the look, their cooking is a MUST! I highly recommend!

This place is simply awesome. Everything we ordered was delicious. The ribs were out of this world. They have lots of vegetarian options as well. I tried their jalapeño burger and it was amazing. I will be back definitely to try their other options.

The smoked ribs at this place are amazing. A must try! Surprisingly enough, the chicken nachos and fries were also very good. We ordered 1/2 chicken too, which was pretty average. The highlight really are the smoked ribs.

We had to wait 16 months to come back, but so worth it! Pulled pork poutine and 5 napkin burger are incredible and of course even better with a nice cold pint! Fabulous service and atmosphere on the back patio too!

Went to Le Boucan for dinner and it was amazing as always. Service and food is great, and staff are super nice! Our waitress Faribah was great, and food came out super fast. 10/10 recommend, their back terasse is beautiful, always an incredible experience. Thank you for having us!

Food okay but the service was HORRIBLE. The waitress was obviously RACIST with how she was giving the best service to white people and completely ignoring us. Overhearing that she was the sister of the owner and gf of the bartender shows she doesn’t care and can be as racist as she wants without consequences. DISGUSTING never going back there again. That food can be found anywhere nit that special to have to deal with racist Karens. Totally recommend you don’t waste your money there!

I am officially in love. The food and the service at this smokehouse are most definitely worthy of love. We had the pit boss, basically a carnivore special with ribs, chicken, pork, fries, potato salad and coleslaw, all of which were magnificent. All served by a wonderfully competent and friendly server named Faraida. Not my first visit, and not my last.

Yummy trio! Barbeque sauced ribs and the pulled pork was excellent, chicken was good.
Nice choice of the sides; 2 different salads and quite overcooked frites.

One of the best burgers I've had.the meat was just perfect and juicy with the perfect combination of bacon, onions and BBQ sauce. 15/10 would recommend. They will definitely see me again.

The atmosphere was great and cozy. The food was delicious, especially the 5 napkins burger and the wing are to die for. Fries are crispy and BBQ sauce is slightly spicy to perfection! And the buttermilk pie is awesome! Staff is really nice and the service is great. 1 con: The rose wine wasn’t that good and the place is supra tiny, you’ll feel the cold breeze each time someone comes in or leaves the restaurant. Overall, it’s a great place to enjoy delicious bbq! *Edit: went back today and got the most amazing service from Catherine (took it from 4 to 5 stars!) Keep up the good work and the smile! I celebrated my birthday this evening in this great restaurant. I am glad to say that it was a wonderful evening and the restaurant was no doubt the reason for the strong celebration. The stuff collaborated in a sweet way, the cuisine was yummy and my friends were extremely thrilled. We shall definitely return for more events. Thank you very much.

L'apparence extérieure ne regarde pas si bien, mais ce qu'il y a dans l'assiette fait vraiment bien le boulot! Portions copieuses, les frites sont délicieuses, les burgers sont goûteux et parfaitement dégoulinants de générosité. Je n'hésiterai pas à revenir.

Poor customer service. The food is ok; while the sides were lovely, our ribs and brisket were drier. The issue was the way my allergies were handled. I had spotted the buttermilk pie early on, and was excited to order it when the waitress came by. I had looked it up online and pics/recipes showed it to be nut-free. It came with peanuts garnished everywhere- pie, plate, ice cream. I am not anaphylatic, but I do get a very sore throat, and this was my recipe for disaster. I asked for a nut-free one. They refused, and told me I had to pay for this one. In spite of what happened after, they never once apologized or showed empathy. They proceeded to shame me (I should know better!), and to tell me that it is indicated in the menu that there are nuts and that I have to tell my server about allergies. Neither was true; the waitress frantically searched the menu, and even after not finding anything, continued to tell us it was there. Another waitress came to shame me again, and she implied I was out for free food, even though I has just told the waitress I would pay for food I could eat. She also implied I was lying about my allergies- who knows why. Then, she guilted me in telling me that her restaurant MAKES EMPLOYEES PAY FOR FOOD THAT IS RETURNED? If this is the case, she is giving people a good reason to boycott a place that oppresses their staff. Most restaurants I know would have taken it back- also, if the ice cream had been removed, it was still fit to be served. Anyways we tipped them enough to pay for the pie, but left near tears and completely humiliated by the staff. We have informed a number of people I know who go there, who will be boycotting the place.

Super délicieux. De plus leur cocktails sont extraordinaires. C’est très petit par contre, je vous recommande de réserver. En faite non, vous DEVEZ réserver si vous ne voulez pas être déçue et devoir aller ailleurs. Le staff est super gentils. Vous devez être carnivore haha je ne crois pas qu’il y a beaucoup d’options pour les « vegan » de ce monde.

Excellent! Service était un peu long mais cela en a valu la peine! Sur les photos, sandwich brisket. C'était très bon. Les frites sont coupés en juliennes, très croustillantes. Les frites ont une épice sucré c'est vraiment goûteux. J'ai aussi pris le mais au fromage. Il a un petit goût fumé. La bière maison est également délicieuse.

Visited here last night and was very disappointed. The service was terrible and food was average at best. Our drinks order was taken after waiting at our table for 25 minutes. Food order was taken 10 minutes later. They didn't have any ribs, which is crazy for a smokehouse/BBQ. Received our food about 20 minutes after ordering but still hadn't received our drinks, I had to call the waitress who needed reminding about what drinks we ordered, bear in mind this is just over half an hour after we initially ordered the drinks. We were half way through our food by the time we got our first glass of water, after asking twice, over an hour into service. The two waitresses were terrible hosts. AVOID this place, it's not cheap and you won't be treated well, especially if you don't speak French.

Côtes levées excellentes et très belle présentation de l'assiette. Bon rapport qualité prix. Ambiance et personnel chaleureux même si cela a pris un bon 3 à 4 minutes à me faire accueillir quand il y avait 3 serveuses au bar qui faisaient rien d'autre que jaser à part une qui mangeais. La terrasse arrière bénéficierait d'un coup de balai elle a l'air négligée.

Comfort food on another level! Food taste good and the portion sizes were pretty good.their smoky cocktail was also very nice.the only thing that bugged me was, I was taking my time to finish off their huge pulled pork poutine but one of the staff members kept bugging me several times if i was done yet.on the 6th time, I caved in and said agh yeh the rest is done and then she took everything away, including the poutine i was still digging at.

C'est vraiment bon. Je n'ai pas pris la poutine, car la portion était trop colossale pour mon appétit.

In Montreal this is my favorite place to grab a fresh brisket sandwich.

If you like smoked food this place is fantastic with all kinds of options to choose from to satisfy any barbecue craving.

I just wish this place was open later at night and for more days of the year but yes the staff deserve to take holidays.

The terrace of this restaurant is very warm and quaint, a good place to relax after a long day of building up an appetite.

Great ribs, pulled pork poutine, butterscotch pie, and decent (classic+) cocktails, with friendly service, and not a bad price. If you like the sweeter style of bbq, it's the place to go.

Excellent restaurant dans le sud-ouest de Montréal, j’apprécie toujours retourner dans le coin et c’était mon premier arrêt à cet endroit.j’étais due surtout qu’en année de restauration celui est un doyen! En franchissant les portes, les découvertes commencent.c’est petit, mais d’autant plus charmant. Je vous conseille de réserver, autrement assoyez-vous au bar.son contenu est impression. La terrasse vaut la peine d’y jeter un coup d’œil, mes dames elle est chauffée alors n’hésitez pas a y aller. Maintenant la bouffe.un pur délice de saveur. Merci au chef, au barman et aux serveurs, votre travail est impeccable et vous ajoutez beaucoup de valeur à ce restaurant. Dernière découverte.les prix, c’est abordable YAY!

As an American that's sampled lots of BBQ. This is one of the top 5 barbecue places I've ever been too. Fantastic food and the staff was amazing.

Holy mother of delicious foods in my belly. Welcome to Yummy town. This place is the bomb! Been going there for years. The service is really excellent, it's refreshing. You have to try their 5 napkins burger. I always go back to it. You will need 5 or more napkins. The meat is perfectly cooked and smoked, along with the smoked bacon, the smoked cheese, etc. Their wings are also super good (try their habanero sauce if you like spicy things). Overall, great place, have gone many times and will go back again. Call to make a reservation first!

We love this place and are there at least once a week. The staff is so friendly and the ambient is rustic and fun. For veggies I highly recommend the veggie chicken Alabama sandwich and for carnivores the full rack of ribs with fries.
Have a smoked tomato soup as a starter a nice homemade lemonade (with bourbon) on the side. So good.
The jackfruit poutine is so good it even convinces meat eaters to go for the veggie option.

A piece of southern flavour in the great white north. Must have the smoked bbq chicken wings, pulled pork or brisket sandwich, unique fries with cool a twist with a side of burnt ends. Always order a flaming! Zombie drink.and Tell the wait staff "the Zombie Man" sent you!
