The best brunch in mtl! It’s worth the wait. I recommend going early as there’s always a line.

The foie gras poached eggs is delicious and very filling. Brioche bread, poached goose eggs, grade “A” foie gras (Rougié), foie gras sauce, onion jam, prosciutto chips, poppy seeds, arugula sprouts, honey-glazed turnips. It’s so rich, so good. Their panko French toast is also a great dish. Highly recommend.

J'ai eu l'occasion d'essayer ce resto et je dois dire que j'ai été agréablement surpris. Du service à la clientèle à la qualité de la nourriture et des repas, tous étaient excellents.

Le menu est simple, mais ce qui est proposé est très bon.
Les prix sont un peu cher, mais justifiable de par la qualité de ce qui est offert aux clients.

Je recommande fortement!

J'ai été déçue de mon expérience chez Passé Composé. D'abord, nous avions une réservation et nous avons quand même dû patienter dans l'entrée avant d'être assignés à une table. J'ai pris le pain doré Panko, qui était beaucoup trop frit et lourd. Ça ne goûtait pas du tout le pain doré. Au moins, les fruits étaient bons. Mon plat était accompagné de yogourt grec nature qui goûtait assez mauvais et ne semblait pas frais.
Au niveau de l'ambiance, le restaurant est peut-être victime de son succès, car c'est extrêmement bruyant et on ne s'entend pas parler. Si vous êtes assis à une table à côté d'une fenêtre, habillez-vous chaudement, car on gèle.
Le service était agréable malgré tout. Les plats sont assez chers, ainsi que les boissons: mon *petit* café latte m'a coûté 8$ avant taxes et ne sortait pas de l'ordinaire. Je ne retournerai pas à ce restaurant.

Original brunch options, like French toast made with panko.
People who arrived 20 min late to their reservation got their table sooner than us, even though we were on time for ours. Not a very logical system!

I really enjoyed eating at this place. The food is carefully thought out and the ambiance of the restaurant was great overall. We had the poached eggs with bone marrow and the maritimes one and both had their distinct flavour. The bone marrow had a generous portion and the maritime one too! However, the star of the show was the panko french toast. It was easily one of the best french toast I had. The texture of the panko just gives it its wow factor! The only dissapointment I had was that when we asked our new plates to be replaced since they were dirty, the waiter that we asked for (which was not our waiter) took them and threw the new plates back to us. Overall I would still recommend this place for the panko french toast that is amazing!

It was my third time at that place. The food was good, however we were only granted 1h15 and weren’t allowed to order another coffee after our food was gone. And paying 6$ for a small cappuccino and 1$ for oat milk is definitely too much. I will take a break before going back there.

Très bon service de la part de notre serveuse. Très sympathique et joviale.

La nourriture est bonne, trop grosse portion (oui oui, c’est possible). Donc on fini par rapporter notre plat.

Le café manque de technique pour du café vendu « spécialité » à 7$.

Je crois que c’est à essayé, mais je n’y retournerai pas.

I’ve been to Le Passé Composé quite a few times, almost every time I visited Montreal, I’ll always leave a spot for it. However, I’m really disappointed by the service. We changed our whole day plan to have a meal at Le Passé Composé, but we were told there was no foie gras poached eggs left (which is the main reason we visited there every time). And we were neither told when we joined the waitlist nor were we told when we just sat down. We were told that the food is sold out when we were ordering it. Instead, we had to order something else from their menu, which I think are all somehow overpriced. An unsatisfying experience. We ordered the seafood poached eggs in the end, and there are sands in the mussels.

Firstly, the food is really just OK, it’s nothing special and it’s overpriced. Secondly, the booking system for reservations does not make any sense. I made a reservation and I still had to wait 30 minutes to be seated. Two walk-ins were also seated before me. I had spoken with them while we were in line and they confirmed that they did not have a reservation. We were two people and a walk in of two were seated before us because they were in line before we arrived, but they had no reservation. The restaurant will also not give you a table of four if you are a group of two so essentially you have to wait until someone leaves the bar, a table for two or the big shared group tables. The concept does not make sense and is really not functional. I don’t mind waiting for brunch as I’m used to that since most brunch restaurants don’t take reservations. However, this restaurant should not offer reservations and if they will not honour your reservation.

I went to eat with my friends today, but not long after we ate, the waiter kept urging us to pay. Isn’t it the same as increasing the table turnover rate? This restaurant is crazy about money.

Bons plats, mais idéalement à partager pour éviter le gaspillage. Nous avons pris 3 plats à 4 et nous étions plus que comblés. Le prix est élevé mais la qualités des plats l'est aussi.

Avoid if you have restrictions or intolerances - chef refused to leave one element off the plate to accommodate a food intolerance, and we were instead told to make a plate from the “extras” menu (eggs + bacon for 20$+). The food was delicious, but I suggest the staff make an effort to accommodate all patrons. Sad to give a low rating but won’t be going back

Food is great but they seem have staff shortage problem, only 2 servers with full capacity.
Come and try the signature French toast and foie gras with 2 poached eggs. It was delicious! The only one I don’t like is the strawberry smoothie is too sweet, they added yoghurt.
However, Will be back again to try other dishes.

I heard a lot of this spot but never had a chance to try it out. I did a reservation two hour before and I was able to secure a spot without waiting. The food was great with big portion It's was sooooooo wonderful.

Absolutely delicious food, huge portion, 100% would recommend to anyone comes to Montreal.

FOOD:
• Foie Gras Poached Egg: I don't think 1 person can finish this. 2 big chunks of brioche, 2 big foie gras plus poached goose eggs and loads of hollandaise sauce. All the fat and heavy in one dish but it's so so worth it. I love the onion jame, it made the taste become so special. This's the best poached egg dish I ever tried in my life!

• Le passe Compose Bagel: I fell in love with it from the first bite. I'm not sure why the avocado need to be fried as the bagel is already crispy. Very high quality bagel, lots of cream cheese and salmon.

SERVICE: 10/10

INSIDE: super busy, long line up. They might rush you to leave to make space for more people coming in.

C’est un bel endroit et le service était rapide. L’assiette est très copieuse et c’est toujours apprécié, mais je n’ai pas été impressionné par le plat d’œufs pochés champêtre. Il manquait de saveur dans la sauce aux bolets et le pain brioché était sec.
