I had a great experience with Samuel during my application for a one-bedroom apartment at LaCite. He was very professional and prompt in processing my application and very helpful for my quries. Hope I will also have a nice experience after I move in.

This is a review for Lucas G who showed me the bldg and the units available, he is super knowledgeable and informative about everything and understands my needs. Although I did not end up picking La Cite for my resident, I definitely enjoyed the 5 star customer service from Lucas while viewing. ;)

Lack of communication and responsibility with Agent Samuel C.

Everything on the website seemed really good to me except of the amount of 1 star reviews complaining about poor management and etc. I initially ignored the fact and contacted the establishment by email then by phone (I did not receive any response from email hence I contacted by phone). On the phone, I was told that an agent will contact me by phone the next day so I waited. The agent never contacted me until 3 days later where he emailed me the copy pasted lines and asked for what I'm looking for. There was also a statement that said feel free to contact for virtual tours. I responded to him each time within less than a few hours each time and I get a response from him the next day (s) each time. Eventually, he found a room that I am looking for so I asked for a virtual tour. He asked how I’d like him to contact me and I answered him about that and then he disappeared for 5 days. I sent him an email asking if he could call me and it turns out he was on leave for those couple of days so I was like fine, I'll wait until he comes back to office. The day he got back, he emailed me saying if I am able to come visit the next day in the afternoon. I was a bit confused because I asked for a virtual tour not an in-person tour and he did not mention the specific time. Before when I gave him my information, I mentioned to him about my availabilities and time zone differences. To me, it seemed like he had forgotten everything we've talked about. I then responded by saying, "Yes I am able to do a virtual visit tomorrow at noon EDT", as that is what I thought he meant. I then continued asking "On which interface are we using for the virtual tour? " And as always, no response until the next day but the problem is, he scheduled a tour with me the next day. The next day, guess what, still no response. Even at and after the time he mentioned. I suppose he really doesn't want me to live there.

As someone who was quite willing to rent with this establishment from the start, I thank him for proving this establishment's lack of communication and I thank him for telling me not to live here.

It is just two months, I moved into LaCite apartment. The team member Ms Hiba El Alami assisted me a lot throughout the process of shifting. She has an amazing personality with helping attitude and positiveness. She is also respectful.she tremendously even supported me to fixing up the things in the apartment as I requested. Her behaviour was like that I was very well known to her since long. I am very much thankful to her.

I have booked a unit with LaCité to live for one year starting this summer. So I haven't moved in yet but the process so far was super convenient and very smooth so I'm very optimistic. Thanks to Antoine all my questions were answered -which were very detailed too- and requests were accommodated -including arranging a virtual visit. He is very attentive and polite. This was a great comfort as I am moving from overseas and it will be my first time in Montreal. The service I got so far was very professional which is a good indication of how it will be when I move in.

Finally I have the time to write this review. I have been living here at la cite for five years and recently me and my girlfriend move to a new apartment also in LaCite. Moving in-and-out during winter can be difficult and it is incredible that the maintenance team and Samuel, one of the best agent I've seen, help us finish all the renovation and formality procedure within a week. We are glad to have them all the way and help us move-in the new apartment (the old apartment was small but still lovely and cozy). We love the location as it is close the mcgill and convenient, you don't need to go outside, all groceries and everything is downstair.

Again, definitely recommended here to live in la cite. Thanks again for Samuel and entire team to help!

I had a wonderful experience getting an apartment here. Samuel helped a lot through the process, and was always very quick with solving any queries that I had. The apartment itself is very nice and spacious. I am sure I'll have a great time here.

We are moving soon to Lacite but what made me do the review now is the extraordinary customer service help provided by the rental agent Samuel Caissie and the manager Maria Dellerba. Nothing was impossible to them, always provided us with solutions to make our move there more comfartable. They, along with the strategic location of Lacite, were exactly what made us decide on going to that place.

Just moved in and I couldn’t be happier, starting from the leasing office they were very prompt and professional making the process very smooth special thanks to (Hiba Alami) she is the best.
The stuff are very friendly and helpful and the building itself is great you can’t get a better apartment in downtown Montreal within that budget anywhere else.all you need is a few steps away from you so you really don’t need to go out (shopping mall, grocery store, gym, free wifi in the common areas until you get your own. Highly recommended

I have been living in la cite at Jeanne Mance for over 5 years. Between 2017 and 2019 everything was smooth. However, after covid-19 their service became awful especially, their management. They changed jeanne mance’s residence manager every year. This year, they made people move out due to increasing rents so that they could rent the apartments to new people thus they could make more money. They reduced their quality of service especially in management to make you leave. I know more than 10 people who received an evacuation letter citing that they did not made the payment on the first day of the month. Usually, if you do not exceed 1-2 weeks it doesnt matter that much. I was one of them who received the letter. It is important to mention that I had no overdue balance at that time. During the trial Oxford’s argument was “we are affected very negatively since this person did not pay his rent”. Oxford also wanted me to evacuate since I paid several rents after 3-5 days of the first day of the month. Simply wow. I just laughed when I saw this statement. If oxford is heavily affected with one person’s rent then I feel sorry for them. Eventually, the court gave the decision of making the payment every first day of the month. Also, eventually, they did not evacuate me. However, I cannot say the same thing for other residents. After this decision, they made every effort to not accept my monthly pre-defined eft payment. Especially, after they hired the new manager everything got worse. If you are looking for a new place I recommend checking out apartments rue stanley, and rue drummond. I will soon leave my apartment and look for a new place. Also, if you think having a mall under your home is good. Everything is online today. You can get whatever you want.

I have been living in LaCite for 2 years now.
It has been an amazing experience till now, i would say its perhaps the best place to stay in Montreal with its amazing location nearby amenities and world-class service

Overall, I think La Cité is a good place to live. In my opinion, the biggest selling point is the location. An apartment in La Cité is an elevator ride away from two supermarkets, a pharmacy, a dollar store, and a small food court with decent food. It's also within walking distance of the mountain, most of downtown, and most of the Plateau. I'm also happy that the apartment building is dog-friendly. Finally, I've needed a few repairs in my apartment, most of which were completed within a few days by the building staff.

The worst place you can choose!
At first look you find it a tranquil place you wish to live, but wait! Every morning you wake up with renovation noises.
And it never ends!
One day drilling started at 6 a.m! Can you believe it?
Stay away from here, I'm moving out less than 1 year

I am really happy I chose to live in two of LaCité's studio units during my last 7 years as a student in Montreal. My favourite thing about living at LaCité was the convenience of the mall downstairs, especially in the winter. The direct elevator access was so awesome to have and really made living in Montreal in the winter significantly better. The water pressure of my units were both excellent and I also appreciated how clean and repainted my units were when I moved in. Another thing that was great was how thick the concrete walls of the building were so you rarely heard surrounding units. I also always found my interactions with staff members to be very respectful. In terms of maintenance, the online request system for the building always worked really well for me and I never had any issues getting assistance.

A lot of construction and almost monthly alarm testing in the morning.
There's also smoking and no masks worn in the elevators.not the ideal place to work. The people at the office are professional.

Great experience with LaCite. I took my uncle to see an apartment and Dianne showed us the place, offered us alternatives, and gave us a tour around the connected mall. She was really patient and answered all our questions thoughtfully and thoroughly. She was straight up honest with us and we never felt pressure in any way. Thanks!

There is a leaking issue in my apartment for 5 month, I made report to them 6 times and every time they say they will fix it, but then it just gets ignored. Hopefully this 1 star review that they deserve is going to bring SOME attention to this.

I had phoned in to this apartment complex to inquire about renting and was greeted on the phone by Jessica Sullivan
She guided me through the process of applying for an apartment for my bother in law
She was straight up with all the rules and told me about all the nice amenities the complex has to offer
She told me all the choices of sizes and levels of the available units along with pricing
Then she set up an appointment to visit, but since I’m from out of town, my nephew toured the place with my brother in law
All went well and we reserved the appartement
I just finished touring the complex with Jessica and finalized all the paperwork with her help
She made the process so easy and comfortable

The building may not be perfect, but I don't doubt the capability of the management and maintenance team. Sébastien is very friendly and helpful in resolving my concerns and finding a solution.

I have lived in LaCite for more than 3 years. It is one of the most convenient places to live for a McGill student. The service is typically great.

I have lived at LaCité most of my adult life and for me there is nothing that is comparable in the residential rental space in Montreal. Located within walking distance of the downtown shopping experience, "le Cartier des Spectacles" with all it's summer activities, the Main, and my personal favorite Mont-Royal, one street corner away and you can escape the city. Inside on the promenade level downstairs every possible amenity and service one could ever need. Grocery store, pharmacy, a cinema, SAQ, a fantastic Korean greengrocer, dentist, medical clinique, restaurants, a bar and so much more. Indoor parking and a gym are available with fees as they are not managed by LaCité. All this available year round without stepping outside in winter. The units are great, the staff are friendly and always there to help make your living experience the best. To address the noise complaints Oxford the owners are making needed repairs and are also refurbishing apartments which sometimes creates noise but the noise are an anomaly. Je t'aime LaCité.

Over charge horrible mgmt completely disorganized.

Lives in my unit for 7 years carpet was worn out from being there 4 8 years they wanted me to replace it. Apt leaked the floor above me and they did nothing to fix it.

Would always pay rent on time and would constantly get notes for late rent.
Very loud, walls are not sound proof.

I have lived at LaCite for 3 years now and love the conveniences downstairs in the shopping concourse (Metro grocery, Dollarama, SAQ, LaCite gym, and pharmacy). But beyond the conveniences, it is the stellar staff at LaCite appartments who really make living here special. The administration, security, and maintenance crew have been friendly and helpful, over and above the call of duty. They have helped my experience here at LaCite very enjoyable and rewarding.

The apartments are great and all but what I really like are the people running the property. Even when burdened with overdue rents and other problems, they have always strived to be kind and are really understanding when it comes to problems like this. Highly recommend to anyone who want a nice living experience here in downtown Montreal.

We came to Montreal for a pre-check before we bring in our kids and we had spotted laCite during our previous stay elsewhere in the City. Got a McGill Morson stadium view apt on the 27th and we had to go through the 14 day quarantine. We had incidence of toilet problem, TV update problem, house keeping problem and all were solved by the fantastic team (special thanks to Dov Silva-Smith, Dario Ercolano, Stephanie Ruz and Yvon) I wanted to mention the names specifically and I made an effort to learn them as they deserve to be mentioned here. I literally bought a peace of mind ; had to run out for our business and it was a relief to come back every evening. Hopefully I will stay here with my kids as well just because of the comfort, efficiency and the 'dream accueil team ' here. Thank you all!

I lived there for a year about 8 years ago. It was awful. The staff is rude and are bullies. Management doesn't care about you.

Racist staff always gasping or making quippy remarks when having to pronounce my roommates name. If you cant pronounce a 4 letter foreign name maybe you need to be retrained.

Very uncomfortable place to live. Lots of noises, lots of students in the building that play the music all the time very loudly and make too much noises and the management doesn't care. I don't recommend it at all.

The 0 notice constant drilling, construction work and noises from 8AM-5: 30PM every day are quite frankly unacceptable. The vast majority of people are in lockdown at home having to work and study from their apartments. This is impossible to do with the constant drilling noises. The managers do not respond to complaints when they are reached out to and the “quite suite” solution is a myth. Do not be fooled by the show they put on when you express interest in renting here. It’s not a coincidence that there are so many 1 star reviews!

Referred by a good friend of mine who was a former tenant during 4 years at Oxford Properties La Cité Apartments in Montreal, I contacted Rocky Hamilton (Rental Agent) to undertake a visit and complete the required rental application formalities. As a human being who profoundly believe in building & nurturing authentic interpersonal relationships with my fellow human beings, I try my best to be positively-minded, kind-hearted, flexibly-collaborative. Why? By applying such an uplifting mindset within my behavior with others, I naturally generate that same edifying behavior within the mindset of the other person with whom I'm interacting. This is exactly what happened in my apartment search, visit and rental application formalities with Rocky Hamilton (Oxford Properties Rental Agent). Rocky Hamilton was naturally a living demonstration of wisdom, kindness & reliable professional service. Despite his multiple responsibilities and hectic schedule, Rocky did take the time to guide me through the visit of 4 different apartments, answer my several miscellaneous questions, and make some handy arrangements regarding the apartment I did ultimate choose. On my side, I did put myself in Rocky' shoes and collaboratively complied with the administrative and financial requirements of Oxford Properties La Cité Apartments. After providing all the mandatory supporting documents, Oxford Properties did the required verifications and my rental application was finally approved. Thanks to DocuSign, it was altogether a breeze and secure to officially sign the Rental Lease and all other administrative documents (Pet & Companion Animal Policy, Apartment Insurance Policy, Subleasing Agreement, Tenant's Authorization for Email Communication, General Maintenance Policy, Pre-Authorized Debit Agreement, etc.). I shall move into my new apartment on the 1st of March 2021. I NOW EARNESTLY HOPE THAT MY STAY AT OXFORD PROPERTIES LA CITÉ APARTMENTS WILL BE AS PEACEFUL AS MY RENTAL FORMALITIES WITH ROCKY. Once again, dear Rocky, for me personally and from the bottom of my heart, you are a living demonstration of wisdom, kindness and trustworthy professional service. Don't be fooled by the fake 5 star reviews. I moved in last spring. Construction every day at 8am to 6pm (during a pandemic, none the less). Incessant drilling that even earplugs can't drown out. They don't offer any sort of rent adjustment or accommodations during renovations like all other half-decent buildings do. If you're lucky, they *may* offer you a vacant unfurnished unit with no wifi if you call WHILE the noise is occurring (oxford policy), but don't count on it. Spoke to other tenants and apparently it's been like this for years.

We had a pleasant time staying here. A convenient location for newcomers, with kind helpful staff available. The apartment itself was reasonably sized and fairly new. We will go there again in the future:)

It's been a month since we moved in. We've had our eye on this place for a long time and were lucky to get just the apartment we wanted now, with lots of help from the leasing agent Stella Catalano seeing us through the process. Love it! The amenities speak for themselves (indoor access to shopping, some services, gym, cinema as we gear up for winter). The apartment is just what we wanted, with a large patio which we are filling up with flowers. Service for repairs is attentive (not that there have been many repairs). We are HAPPY

Depuis plus de 30 ans, à la Cité! Une équipe sympathique qui fait tout pour nous satisfaire. Bien situé, confortable, sécuritaire, accepte les animaux. Nous sommes bien heureux d'y habiter, c'est notre chez-nous.

They were doing construction that caused my apartment to filled with a burning plastic smell. And then proceeded to tell me that the rooms they had for people affected by construction are only available for people affected by the noise, and it does not matter if the burning material affects my breathing.edit:
They have approached me to resolve the issue, provided a room so that my health is not affected. It seems that in time they will do everything they can to resolve issues the come up.

Lived here for a year as a student and had a good experience. The location was great, things would usually get fixed quickly, and the tradespeople on staff were friendly. It was priced on the high end, but compared to so much of the other student housing available, this place is great and was worth paying for.

Juanita, our building manager, was fantastic. She was responsive, helpful, and kind. Any time we had an issue with anything, she took it seriously and always offered a solution. I've read many student housing reviews about awful landlords/building managers and Juanita was the complete opposite. The support we received from her made the transition to life away from home much easier.

I stayed in building "D" at LaCite for the month of August 2019. I was there in order to have privacy for some personal work projects and to visit my favourite city in North America, Montreal. My experience is anecdotal, but I must say that every expectation I had for the apartment was fulfilled: the staff were friendly and very helpful, the facilities were excellent (strong, reliable Internet, quiet surroundings-even with work being done in the building), the location and local shopping convenience were first-rate, the attention to detail in the suite for the convenience of the visitor was superb. Clear communication was always maintained. And the price was very reasonable. In short, I received far more than I expected. I would highly recommend LaCite to anyone, based on my experience, and I hope to return next year!

I have lived here for a little more than 2 years and have enjoyed the experience. LaCite is conveniently located right next to an underground shopping mall. Buildings and their amenities are well maintained. Staff are friendly, professional and effective. Going to miss the big windows and the balcony view!:)

It has been almost 8 years since I became a tenant of LaCite. A very smart decision! All the employees including the assistants at reception, the customer care center, the security team and the maintenance crew are professional, efficient and always friendly with a smile. A very special thank you of appreciation to our resident manager Juanita Parlee for looking after her tenants, quickly being available and answering queries with care and suggestions. I truly feel like I am part of a big family, feeling safe and a valued tenant. Thank you Juanita and everyone!

Stayed here for 3 yrs. Wonderful building for the great location with supermarket, restaurants and so on facilities underground. Great staff as well, keeping the building safe and tidy. Strongly recommend to everyone, especially McGill students.

Moving out of La Cite was a great relief for me. My experience at La Cité was one star only because the zero-star option was not available. I can assure you that PLENTY of tenants had the same opinion as mine. Tenants at La Cite no longer bother calling staff or Residential Services for help; staff are zero-help and below-zero trustworthiness. DO NOT BE FOOLED by fake news, fake reviews (many by friends, not tenants) and fake "Responses by owner" you read online. If you look carefully, you'll see that 5-star reviews have NO "likes" AT ALL and 1-star reviews have MANY "likes". Businesses are leaving La Cite one after the other. McGill bookstore left, The Source moved away, Royal Bank closed their branch, gym shut down climatized outdoor swimming pool and medical clinic gone too. In other words, La Cite's so-called "amenities" are no longer available. Buildings' corridors are dirty and stink of cigarette smoke, marijuana, all kinds of foods, etc. All day loud construction noise (also mentioned by several other reviewers) complete a living hell with ridiculously inflated prices. Talk to REAL PERMANENT tenants of UNFURNISHED units to learn the TRUE facts, and avoid making the mistake of renting at La Cité.

There’s a white short security guard who loves to hit on Asian girls. He would act like a nice old guy next door at first and talk to you in the elevators, ask you how’s your day so and so. Then he asked me out for coffee through dm (idk how he found it), I didn’t reply him once he asked that and blocked him.

After that he didn’t stop, he tried to talk to me in the elevators as usual. I ignored. What really creeped me out was once he was checking me out from behind while I was waiting for someone sitting on the lounge couch. I moved out as fast as I could.

Unfortunately I was not the only one who experienced things like this. Few friends who live in the apartment also told me the similar but less creepy version of the story.

This is extremely unprofessional and I didn’t feel safe in my own apartment knowing the fact he could have the key of my apartment door.

Ladies, please me mindful of this when you choose La Cite.

Je ne peux mettre moins qu'une étoile! Il y a une pigiste qui a écrit un article très intéressant sur l'équipe actuelle et la manière de gérer les locataires. Zero discrétion sur les dossiers des clients. Elle y cite deux cas d'éviction ciblé vraiment pitoyable. Je déconseille toute personne qui veut la paix de signer avec eux. Et les ascenseur sont toujours en panne. Beaucoup de mauvaise gestion, et un irrespect total des locataires. Lisez l'article et lisez surtout la quantité de commentaire négatif. Il faut vraiment changer l'équipe actuelle qui n'est pas dans la compétence.

I used to live at la cité for 6 months as a professional. The neighborhood is the best in Montréal. Also Montréal is a french City but i was constantly in contact with this Gorgeous bilingual receptionist, her name is Rosie she is so professional and Kind and she has lot of tips for people Who don't know Montréal. Rosie thank you to made my stay enjoyable.

Je n'ai jamais regretté d'avoir choisi la Cité. Sécuritaire, bien entretenu et extrêmement bien situé au coeur de Montréal. La proximité du Mont-Royal n'a pas de prix pour les amateurs de plein-air comme moi. L'accès intérieur au supermarché, à la pharmacie, etc.est super pratique, surtout l'hiver. Un grand merci à toute l'équipe de la Cité et à Rosie pour son accueil hors pair!

We moved out fast, it was good for the first 2 years, but the last year was really uncomfortable for my girlfriend and some of our neighbors in the building, the 2 night desk guys during the week were always talking sexual trash and being creepy, flirting on my lady and her friends every time they came back from late night at school, or a Bar.
