Great lockers, great swimming pool for downtown and great classes! I highly recommend Steve's Tai Chi class on Wednesdays and Fridays at 9AM

The only GOOD things are it's clean and a few of the front desk staff are very kind, such as Zach. However, the trainers are nosy, incompetent and give preferential treatment to thoss who listen to their unwanted advice. In response to a lack of equipment (they had a much better variety years ago), they refined the already cramped weight area to a more condensed space.
Still closed around 6 on weekends, still no towels. Really bad value for your money (80/month with a locker).
EDIT: They provide 10 guests passes as a perk to you the member, yet if you try to have people use them without your presence, they won't let them. They could have all of the guest's info and have your pre authorised approval to let them in and still won't because YOU the member aren't present. They claim legal liability but it doesn't make sense. Overall, sub par gym.

Never overcrowded in the weight/machines room and friendly staff at the front desk. However, this old quebecker lady with grey hair is very rude and self centered. In a yoga class, she complained that she didn’t want to be in the back, God knows why, and she didn’t want to move over to let me, A 15 YEAR OLD, have a spot as well. Ruined my day.

Management is terrible. They don’t know how to talk to people. Wish I knew the woman’s name who monitors the workout area she is absolutely awful. If you’re gonna have a workout area way smaller than competitors and more expensive, at least have decent management lol.

Had amazing communication with the team while joining and looks good considering that I get access to multiple classes

Terrible experience. A lady monitoring the gym floor was completely out of line and rude when my friends and I were just checking out the main gym floor. The equipment to space ratio was smaller for my liking and the service/management was below standard relative to gyms in the NDG/Westmount area. I wouldn’t recommend this gym to anybody.

Good gym if you go at the right time. Staff is very nice, but temperature is always a bit high and the number of machines is limited.

Had a lot of aggressive guys who monopolize the equipment - like leaving their towels on benches, that sort of thing - so they can be doing two or three exercises in succession undisturbed. No real supervision.

And they charged me a lot of money for having a payment that didn't go through, even though my own bank reversed the overdraft fee. Makes me wonder why the Y couldn't do the same. Got tired of giving the Y my money, I don't do that anymore. The Y needs more competition generally.

This Ymca is not as big as the one in Montréal downtown.
You can find free parking near the gym.

People from the YMCA Westmount have a great energy. They make sure you feel welcomed and they are there if any help. It's great if you have kids because of the various classes they offer and they also have a pool.

People are unhelpful, rude, they don’t listen to what you need, they stole my boots and they didn’t help me look for the person who stole it in the cameras. Thank you YMCA for letting the thief leave with my boots in winter time.

The best YMCA I've been too. Super clean, staff is always very friendly and helpful. Great atmosphere!

Payment:
You pay around 60 bucks a month after taxes to get access to the gym. Basically unless you have kids attending swimming classes, you are paying way to much if you're only doing weights or fitness classes.

Also you get to pay a starter fee to have the privilege of paying them the monthly fee.perfectly understandable. Sometimes they are desperate. I mean.kind enough.to waive that fee.

They also use your credit or direct monthly withdrawal meaning there is a big chance they might charge you an extra month if you're a little late in cancelling.

So that's 720 a year. To put it into perspective, some 24 hour gyms offer a full year membership for under 200. Just a quick online search will show it. These gyms include Classes with more cardio machines and larger better weights areas.

You have to pay extra for towels.

Gym:
Basic weight area which is small and even the newer machines aren't that advanced with that hefty gym membership price tag. The cardio machines and the class area are average.

They don't have their own parking. There is street parking that you pay for.

Hours:
The closing hours are normal but when it's time for any kind of holiday, they are very restricted closing on that day with early closing the day before AND after sometimes.

Staff:
staff can be rude and you can check the top reviews here to get an idea.

I gave this place one star because I rated it on what you would expect for how much you pay and they fail to deliver.

Not even one star.the staff was very mean with me and not understanding at all.not going back bye bye membership.

Bonne variété de cours de groupe! De plus, on ne peut que craquer pour la luminosité dans les locaux et la vue sur le parc!

Its OK. Good for an in city recreation centre. Could use some updating. 10 times better than the one downtown!
