Les YMCA du Québec - Centre-ville

This is regarding the employees of Ymca Guy favreau centre while it was open till end of year 2019.

Some of the young female employees aggressively flirted with their customers and made using the gymnasium a very uncomfortable experience. This particular front desk employee of arabic descent sometimes would hyper aggressively flirt with me but then later also would behave in an extremely unfriendly manner such that it became impossible to strike a conversation or ask any questions about the gymnasium and its services.

Worst part is, these female employees flirt because they are bored at their job, have nothing else better to do and its amusing to them. They have no interest in getting to know their customers as people and as human beings. Otherwise they would treat their customers with atleast some dignity and respect. This is harassment, plain and simple.

Some of these seemingly long time Ymca front desk employees treated some of their customers with discrimination and others like royalty.

One of the gym instructors that I took an introductory gym class with, he engaged in language politics with me while he could clearly communicate in English. As being a non french speaking immigrant in Canada, it made my experience at the Ymca guy favreau and Ymca downtown very uncomfortable and uneasy as it was difficult to communicate, ask questions or ask for any kind of help.

Signed up for a zumba class after a trial. During the trial the teacher was nice and fun. However after I payed, it turned out she was temporarily replacing someone else and the actual teacher was way too fast and didn’t really engage with the class, which is kind of important when you are teaching. Anyways, never went back as this style turned out to not be the one for me.

I registered for online english course. I paid the full amount. Then YMCA canceled the course. I had to call/email several times to refund my credit card. They couldn’t do it. Instead they sent me a of 60% of the amount. Again i had to call back several times. Finally, now they are going to send me the remaining amount in two weeks (finger crossed). Never experienced such a horrible service.

Pre-pandemic, they had lots of different classes offered. Usually very crowded but it was a time when it was more fun because it was crowded, as long as it wasn't over crowded.

Il y a un homme qui travaille à la réception, là où on montre sa carte de membre pour passer à la salle d’entraînement (peau de couleur foncée et tatouages sur les bras), Il est toujours tellement insolent, là dernière fois que je m’y suis présentée, quand je lui est mentionné mon nom de famille, il a fait référence (plutôt inutile) à ma mère qui supposément avait eu une dispute avec lui quelques jours auparavant. Aujourd’hui je suis encore incertaine de comment ça me concernait et le but de sont commentaire. Bref, lors de mon arrivée il me laisse savoir que mon compte était suspendu car apparemment je n’avais pas fait les deux derniers paiements. Moi qui était complètement perplexe parce que je n’étais aucunement au courant de ce dont il parlait, j’ai décidé de lui demander plus de détails à ce sujet. Je lui est demandé comment était-ce possible que les paiements ne soient pas passés et il m’a répondu, et je cite, “ justement, j’attendais à ce que tu m’expliques”. Pardon? Donc le gymnase ne m’envoie aucune lettre, aucun courriel électronique pour m’aviser de ce qui se passe et quand je que je me présente c’est par ce monsieur que je l’apprends? Et en plus d’une manière insolente? Non, merci. Je ne suis pas au courant de l’exacte position qu’il occupe dans cette compagnie, mais il a visiblement laissé que ça lui monte à la tête et personne ne semble y réagir.

Overpriced for the services you get.

Equipment is outdated and basic and locker rooms are dirty. The pool is gross!

Personal trainers are highly unqualified and aggressive, desperately bullying each other and their clients.

The atmosphere is very tense and fake. Stay away!

Much better gyms out there!

Excellent YMCA, propre, grand choix d'activités, équipes sympathiques! Cependant, l' experience client a l' accueil laisse à désirer. Les employés de l accueil sont souvent peu au courant des procédures et peu coopératifs.

Équipement complet pour tout type d'entraînement. Dommage que la propreté laisse à désirer et qu'il y ai autant de flanage, y compris dans les vestiaires.

Je suis membre du centre de conditionnement physique depuis plus de 10 ans et je n'ai rien de négatif à dire. L'endroit est fort agréable à fréquenter et il y a un bel esprit de communauté.

Good gym and respectful staff.

However one of their front staff employees Maria older age short hair is very rude.

After referring two people with no added free months i asked her about it and she simply didn’t want to deal with it. Asking me to come another time i said ill be back tmo and she answered by saying okay whatever whatever. Very disrespectful and makes me rethink my membership of 5 years in that gym.

One of the best places for fitness. Got a whole lot of activities for summer and for winter. Enough equipments for cardio and weights but when it comes to squats with smith machines it gets a lot crowded during peak times like 6-7AM and 6-8PM.
Cleanliness is at a good level, good personal trainers (even though I haven’t tried anyone for myself yet but I can see them training others and I think they are good)
Good options to play games like Basketball and Volleyball. Haven’t tried swimming pool yet. So overall a nice place and I recommend this place.

Okay, i did call them about my account information and there is a guy basiclly refused to talk to me and just hung up directly?
and of course, there people are all great players, really god at passing the buck

If a machine breaks it will take 3 months to repair it. Locker rooms are disgusting including the Plus one (which is falling apart!). Overpriced for a very poor quality of services.
Management does not give a f@#$ about members feedback. V disrespectful and believe that people are stuck with them and willing to accept anything so they don't really care. Don't go there plenty of better gyms available in that area

Les machines sont très vielle et si elles brisent elles rest briser pour toujours. Même quand j’ai mentionner leurs machines de briser ils s’en calissais. Le sauna suce des boules et n’est pas chaud et les salles de bain son pas propre et il y a toujours du pipi sur le sol.

They continued charging me for months after I tried to cancel my membership! Never give your credit card to these people!

Friendly staff and decent facilities but the gym is overcrowded and some users have a poor etiquette. Many people seem to treat it like a social club rather than a place to train and be focused, with lots of shouting, people having loud conversations right next to the bench you're working on, or not racking the weights in the right places. Very distracting.

The worst gym in North America. They just try to cheat innocent people by so many hidden charges don't give your credit card number to this company stay away.
Pure escroquerie.

If you go there to play basketball, don't bother. You'll wait on the sideline at least 45min-1h. Used to go there for some time now and when I came back the other day, the desk clerk woman told me that now they give playing cards 30 minutes BEFORE the basketball actually starts and there are only 20 available. After that, you'll get the "WAIT CARD" and might end you not even playing at all. Worst system I've ever seen.

La procédure d'enregistrement a pris une éternité. Je suis client avec eux depuis 5 jours, et je commence a me poser la question pourquoi je paie 77$ par mois. La sauna par exemple les portes font beaucoup du bruit quand on ouvre la porte ou on la ferme. La température est toujours base, on dirais qu'il font d'économies. Les serviettes sont d'une mauvaise qualité (j'aimerais voir eux s'essuyer leurs visages). Dans les toilettes il y toujours un mauvais odeur.

Lors d'un problème de paiement, le YMCA charge 15$ en plus sans même avertir qu'un problème est survenu (et ce peut importe la raison). Je conseille donc très vivement aux gens de bien lire votre contrat car ils ne remboursent jamais la somme (15$) et personnellement je trouve la pratique scandaleuse. A éviter!

The staff at the front desk are so nice and helpful, but I do NEVER suggest anyone register in swimming classes there. The teacher (George) is SO RUDE AND NERVOUS and the manager of the pool doesn't care about the negative feedbacks from others.

Dont go with them! After I paid the fees only they said that the refund would be 60% if i cancel my classes (they didnt tell me till i paid). I called them within 24 hours (more than 10 days before the class start date) and they refunded me 60% of the course fee which is 44% of what i paid. This does`t make any sense. Why would I pay 56% for nothing? What benefit I got? They just want to make money not work as a helping institute.

Je vais ici parce que c est pratique mais le sauna est pas top! Le Gym est beau c est vrai et les appareils sont modernes. Je ne vais pas trop a la piscine mais surtout au gym et au sauna/hammam. C est toujours bondes pendant les cours donc sachez qu il faut venir a l avance si vous voulez avoir spot

I remember I used to go there for bodybuilding. One time, I needed to use the "inclined" bench press. There was no one there and no towel. I looked around for like 2 minutes and nobody was there. So I decided to start training there. But then, this dude (a black tall chubby dude) came to me and says " Hey man, I'm there". I look at him and told him that I didnt see any towels on the machine nor anyone training there. I respond back and sais " Well too bad, im there, you can't use the machine". I was really upset and call the management to complaint.but guess what, the person in charge (another black old man) was his friend, and he took his friend's side and told me to find another machine. Now I was "really upset.worst experience in my whole life. I went to the man dresser room to change and that old man followed me to ask me for my ID. I'm like. " why should I give you my ID? " He's telling me for verification purposes. I told him "no" I dont have to give you anything espacially after what happen. People don't have the right reserve a machine ESPACIALLY if there's no evidence that someone is there (like leaving a towel on the machine for instance? Hello? Anybody here?) and also, even if he was training there, he could of "shared" the machine with me as this was a public gym. I've been training for more then 23 years and I must admit that this gym is by far the "worst" I've been to. I think few years later, I decided to give it another shot and came back to train again.but this time, it was worst, there was this "rep" guy who was I'm assuming a "coach" or something as they all had red YMCA shirt with "coach" on their back. Well, Not sure why, but this white kid was following me everywhere I go. I really don't know if he had a crush on me.or if he was spying on me or whatever. All I know is that this kid (in his 20's I guess) was getting on my nerves for always staring at me and following me during my training time. Well, anyways, I decided to never come back there, This is a gym for "old people" or "newbies" Not for advance bodybuilders. Cheers.
