Madras Curry House

It’s an almost hidden place and most prob you’ll miss the small board.
Food is a bit spicy if you’re not used to Indian cuisine.
It’s run by a handful of jolly folks, super eager to help you out.
Overall, food is good, I’m not sure if I’d want to try it often.

Dosas and chicken items are good.

Service is pathetic. I ordered takeout food and did not receive one of the orders. I live 40 Kms away and it was not worth going back for one dish.
The quantity is ridiculously low compared to the price.
I have been a regular customer for over four years but not going again.

Excellent Food. We ordered Chicken and Shrimp Biryani, kothu parotta & Dosa. All were delicious and price is nominal.

Excellent South Indian food.
Coming from Ontario the food here was more authentic than many south Indian restaurants.
Their Dosa and fish curry was outstanding.
The owner is very friendly.

First of all, there was just 1 air conditioner for the whole place which made it really hot and humid to comfortably sit inside. The cutleries were not very clean. The drinking water served was soapy. The waitress was good. Time to serve was very late. Coming to the food, dosa and chicken 65 were good, but the biriyani was like tomato rice. And never try their paneer kothu. It was like a normal veg kothu with white uncooked unflavored burji like paneer simply sprinkled on the top. Overall, Madras Curry House is a good spot for just dosas

Hi i visited today.
Masala dosa, chicken 65, gobi Manchurian are tasty.
But i done a big mistake i ordered lamb gee briyani 18 cad.
Its absolutely cheating briyani.
One full plate rice and in the top. 1ich size lamb pieces.
I didn't get any lamb piece in lamb briyani.
So if you plan to visit dont try lamb briyani or lamb ghee briyani.
Its absolutly waist and if you had it dont do long drive.
You will get sleep in 30minutes.
If i go next time only masla dosa thats it.
The girl who doing serve is good. Calam and good in taking order.
BUT NO MORE LAMB BIRIYANI, actulay i planed to give it back but its my mistake ordering wrong food

Incredibly delicious! This might be some of the best South Indian food I've had. We had the channa masala dosa, sambar and vada, and they were all cooked to perfection. Service was very good and very well priced.
I will be back often
The only area of improvement would be that the washroom needs to be better maintained.

I would give a zero star for the worst food and service that we have received. They brought food after more than one hour of waiting.ordered vegetable curry and I got aloo Gobi curry which is watery and aloo is not cooked. Paratha I ordered is like bread and not flaky as shown in the picture. I always managed to eat if it is okay food but this food is worst. I don't recommend this restaurant.

there was hair in gobi manchurian even we ask for stuffed cheese dosa and we got after 40 minute simple dosa!

Very poor customer service. Not even bothered to welcome customers inside the store. Waited for long time to someone notice us and provide seats. Left the store without having anything from there.

This place had tasty food for a really good price. Do not expect anything fancy, rather a feeling of family owned restaurant.with delicious food and kind service.will definitely go back!

Just note, to get to the restaurant there is a flight of stairs.

One of the best places to have South Indian food in Montreal. Such a friendly and engaging staff. Would eat 100% if I visit Montreal again.

Really bad experience with food. All Walmart packed naan and roti’s are served which is not good for person eating and expecting really good food. But everyone knows more expectation more disappointment.

It takes more then 30 mins for 1 dosa, which taste so bad.i wont take 2nd chance.annaa, pls kuch karro.

I came here after 2019 in 2021, thought something must be change, yes, service was fast, but, I still keep 1 star, sambar was given 2 spoon like chutney. Dosa was OK not bad. And please don't add soda. My stomuch got upset after having food. Still need to improve a lot.

I usually do not post negative reviews but this restaurant was extremely unprofessional and had very slow service. My friends and I were here on a Sunday afternoon. We waited for 2 long hours for our food to arrive. The order for naan came nearly 30 minutes after the curry and hence the curry was all cold when the naan arrived.
Not just us, everyone's orders were delayed but the doordash orders were going out on time. There was just one waitress to serve all the customers. I honestly felt bad for her as all customers were starting to get annoyed.

I had ordered food from Madras curry house (takeaway) 3 times till date.and from the last 2 times they had added masala to the dosa even when I didn't ask for it. Since I already brought it home - I had to eat it. So today, I had visited the restaurant for dine-in (for the first time) and had to wait for more than 1.5 hrs before I got my order. They again got it wrong.ordered Onion Rava dosa.got Masala Rava dosa. Even before I could get what I ordered, they started serving to people who walked in after me (a party of 15). I asked them to cancel the order and walked out.

Absolutely amazing food. One of the best Indian restaurants in Montreal, a must try. The staff is also very friendly. Excellent customer service. The food is so tasty and they give a lot in quantity for the price.

Very good taste.fresh serve.we feel like they serve better food at Friday evening compared to other days. So should visit on Fridays

Manque de personnel, le menu n'est pas complet, le poulet au beurre est très bon, petite salle très familliale parfois très bruyante, pas pour un souper en tête à tête.

We ordered chicken biryani on the weekday afternoon. The taste was so good that we didn't even got a chance to capture it. Lip-smacking biryani!

My friend and I enjoyed one of the greatest Indian meals we ever had. We were exceptionally well attended by a waitress who was on her first day of work and still managed to fulfill our multiple demands. I would strongly recommend the Madras Curry House to anyone and will certainly go back there in the near future!

This place is disaster, unprofessional and bad customer service. Long wait and owner doesn't even bother to attend customer. When we entered in the restaurant first thing we saw that all used plates and leftover food on the table and it was there till one hour and owner was piling it up on all tables. We spoke with owner but she gave wrong reasons. Never go to this place again.

By far the best & authentic South Indian food I had in Canada, definitely must try the Idli, Medu Vada and Dosas, we had Rava Masala…… and end the meal with the best South Indian Filter KAPI (Coffee)

Had their chicken dosa, and was not worth it so many big pieces of chicken inside a dosa, taste was okay! Chicken Kothu is much better than the dosa!

Have been to this place, really nice and welcoming. Food is tasty and she offered us a complimentary masala tea which is so nice.

We had heard a lot about this place the owner is super cooperative and if you are looking for a traditional south indian flavour this is the place you wish to go to

There was a lil goof up, they mistakenly gave my order to someone else and then I had to wait for another 15 mins to get my order prepared.

Kumar was nice enough to compensate and didn’t charge anything for the food. And Dosas were great as well!

I am a big time vegetarian food lover! I moved from Toronto to Montreal and was looking for some great Indian restaurant. I must say most of the times I was highly disappointed but this one place took my heart and soul. Yesterday I ordered some dosa, vada, idli and chilli paneer. The Sambar was perfect thickness and best sambar I have had in ages! Dosa was amazing and quantity was good! Even the chutnies were so fresh and too good!

Must try it out!

This is my favourite restuarant in Montreal. I have never had such authentic and flavourful Indian food anywhere else. One of a kind place.

I really enjoyed the food and the service was friendly. Portions were generous. I found the dishes to have an underlying spiciness, which I enjoyed, but it caught me off guard at first. That being said, it was a delicious meal, and I would certainly go back!
