Maelstrøm Saint-Roch

C'est LA place à Québec pour une ambiance de Noël over the top, sans aucune gêne et sans aucune restriction! La déco, la verrerie.tout y est! Le service est adorable, l'ambiance chaleureuse, et la carte des cocktails de saison est très sympathique - quoique tous les drinks soient plutôt dans le sucré, voire très sucré. Les cocktails normaux sont disponibles aussi ; mon Negroni était très bon. Point positif: la « boule de neige » en guise de gros glaçon. Mais il était lui aussi un peu plus sucré que je ne l'aurais préféré.
Une adresse à garder en tête!

Had breakfast two days back to back because the food was so good. Visiting from Toronto and this is one of the best breakfast places we ate at. Great atmosphere and the customer service was amazing. Such great service which made our experience that much more memorable. Thank you to Talim and Victoria.

Although it's a cafe in the day, we went at night when it was a bar.
They have some great options on their cocktail menu, balancing flavours well and having some interesting twists. And good quality spirits on the shelf.
We also challenged the bartender with something off-menu using the local Acerum and he came up with a great combination. He was very knowledgeable.

I didn't have much expectations, we picked it among a few breakfast places in the area by fluke. I was pleasantly surprised. Great looking place, very Bohemian.
Took a little while to get a table, we got there just as the morning rush was slowing down.
Interesting menu, with lots of different, international takes on breakfast. We had the shakshuka with extra feta and canned anchovies, and the Turkish style egg. Everything was delicious. The tomato sauce from the shakshuka was packed with flavor.
They had a good selection of cocktails, cider and beer so it's a perfect boozy brunch place. Prices were very fair.
All around an amazing place.

Très joli endroit avec des plats équilibrés et délicieux. Les ingrédients sont variés et de grande qualité. Très agréable pour un brunch ou un déjeuner. La musique n'est pas trop forte et on arrive à s'entendre.
Les serveurs étaient aussi très serviables.
Les prix sont tout à fait corrects.

Cute coffee shop! Both coffee and meals are tasty. We ordered Shakshuka and apple pancakes. Recommend this place for brunch.

Le serveur avait une attitude passive-agressive pendant tout le service, puis nous demande de nous en aller rapidement à la fin en proposant d’apporter la machine alors que nous avons déjà payé, dommage car les autres serveuses étaient sympathiques. Les plats sont excellents!

The first good coffee we had in almost a week of holidays in canada. Don't let the maple leaves fool you if there is one thing canadians can't do it's serve decent coffee or hot wine. This establishment had the coffee, so there's that - made my day.

I had a positive experience. The waitress (Alexandra, if I'm not mistaken) was very kind and knowledgeable about their cocktails. She did some great recommendations and performed such an incredible service. The barman was also very friendly. We just found their options of snacks are limited, although their pita bread with hummus is simply amazing (8$)! The prices are ok for the cocktails (between 12 and 15, but they are not served in a large glass). But honestly our biggest concern was actually the loud music. From the outside the place looks chill and nice but inside was loud and people were speaking louder to make themselves heard.

I'm a local and this is my straight up favorite place to enjoy a coffee & breakfast during the day or a finely curated microbrew after work. The food is excellent and really affordable, the cocktails are perfect, the staff is super chill and the ambiance and the crowd are both top notch. Do not hesitate!

The breakfast here was amazing! The petit latte was heavenly. My husband and I enjoyed the food as it was the best breakfast we ate in Quebec. The staff is attentive, friendly, professional and inviting. If you are in the area do not miss out!

Malheureusement le brunch n'était pas disponible avant 9h00, ce que nous considérons un peu tard lors d'un jour de la semaine. Toutefois, nous avons pu prendre des viennoiseries chauffées au four? Le café latté et le mokaccino était très bon, super crémeux et réconfortant.

L'esprit de Noël était au rendez-vous c'est super pour les gens qui vivent plus dans la solitude lors de cette période de l'année.

Great spot for breakfast and delicious coffee with all the different plant based milks. We found it by chance near our hotel, and ended up going here for breakfast each day before heading out biking. The service, food, atmosphere and coffee were all fantastic.

Excellent cocktails de soir et très bon brunch et café le matin! J'ai pris le gravlax et il était délicieux. Le staff est tres gentil et souriant avec de bonnes recommandations.

Mon café préféré à Québec! J’adore aller y étudier. Tout est bon. Le service est toujours parfait. Les prix sont plus que raisonnables.

Really cute place, and food was incredibly reasonably priced given the quality. The server was very helpful and switched to English when she noticed me struggling to order in French.

De passage en famille, nous avons été très déçu de l'accueil de cet établissement, nous avons attendu très longtemps pour finalement ne pas être servi, les serveurs devraient penser à changer de profession.

Lovely breakfast/brunch local with beautiful interior which is vegetarian (vegan) friendly. Has outdoor seating options. They offer a variety of plant based milk (e.g. Pistachio and coconut) and the food was just delicious. I had an avocado-toast with poached egg and I really enjoyed it. Also the staff was very welcoming and friendly. Is one of my favorite breakfast local in Québec. Would come again every time!

Mauvaise expérience au Maelstrom Saint Roch, nous étions avec une petite de 2 ans et demie qui attendait son brunch, après plus d'une heure d'attente, nous sommes allé voir la serveuse qui ne se souciait pas du fait que nous attentions sans rien consommer et cette dernière nous a simplement indiqué qu'elle avait oublié notre commande. Grand manque de professionnalisme pour lequel nous aurions pu faire abstraction mais au vu de leurs attitude, nous sommes parti et ne reviendrons pas.

Si vous êtes avec des enfants, passez votre chemin, ce bar/restaurant d'amateurs n'est pas adapté

Super accueil! C'était la première semaine de réouverture post-confinement et ça semblait déjà bien rodé. Les filles sont vraiment sympathiques et la nourriture est excellente

I love a cocktail bar that doubles as a cafe. I was pretty impressed with the space. Now the cocktails, a little above the average price point in Quebec city but I was very impressed with the cocktail ingredients. I appreciated that when we had our various drinks. My spicy margarita was good blend of kick and tequila.

Great local coffee spot. This doesn't have the feel of a tourist destination, rather, it's a glimpse into where hip people in Quebec City hang out. There are plenty of tables, and the coffee is excellent quality. It's a bit on the quieter side, so if you're looking for a scene you might want to go elsewhere.

L'un de mes cafés préféré en ville! La déco, l'éclairage et les murs de briques créent un lieu très sympathique. Le café est très bon et le personnel est accueillant.

Really great coffee, kind and fast service, pricey but delicious and filling breakfast, sour beer on tap, and I must have Shazam’d 500 songs while here for the afternoon working.

It was busy when we arrived and we almost didn’t have a place to sit if not for a kind stranger who saw the lost puppy dog look in our eyes and moved for us. Not all heroes wear capes.

however we lined up for a seat and they said sorry we are full and won’t have tables for « A VERY LONG TIME » so basically we were kicked out: (even though there were people behind us WTF

Mon ami et moi avions commandé un américano. Nous sommes tous les deux amateurs de cafés et nous avons tout de suite remarqué la dose d'espresso complètement raté. Café hyper acidulé. De plus j'ai commandé un burrito vegan, bien mais sans plus. Le service était bof. La jeune fille qui nous a servie nous as quaisement tiré le menu dessus quand elle a vu qu'on savait pas trop où regarder. Elle s'est reprit par la suite, mais elle était tout de même indifférente et sa collègue qui était assise au bar regardait tous les clients avec mépris. Par contre c'est tout de même un bel endroit et j'espère avoir un meilleur service la prochaine fois.

Meilleur bar à cocktail de st-roch à prix modéré. Se spécialise aussi dans le café infusé à froid. Beau pitstop en soirée ou pour un long apéro.

Ambiance chaleureuse et cosy. Propice à la lecture et à l'étude le jour mais sort sont côté wild le soir avec ses cocktails et sa musique.

Belle ambiance et design original et acceuillant. La nourriture et le café sont très bon, mais peut-être un peu cher. Le café filtre n'étais pas inclus dans le déjeuner et coûtait environ 4$. Je conseille fortement quand même!

Was very busy when I went and only two servers/baristas/bartenders. People who arrived after me got their menus before me. Coffee was ok but nothing special, they did serve it in a nice santa mug though. Wish I'd ordered to go instead.
