Mamie Clafoutis

This was the best of the 5 French-style bakeries I went to in Quebec. The second floor is the dining area, so you can enjoy your food on the spot and at your own pace. It is located in a pretty interesting area, less than a block from a picturesque park surrounded by Victorian-era row houses.

There are many sweet and savory selections, and they all look delicious. The breads and pastries were uniformly fresh and tasty, a cut above the other places I tried (which were hit-or-miss regarding freshness.) I tried the chocolatin, pain au cheddar, canele, clafoutis, tarte aux petite fruits, and pain au pistachio. All were excellent. The regular coffee was also very good, with no trace of bitterness. There is a self-serve station for coffee additions, and they offer milk and real cream.

Fabulous, fresh baked goods and sandwiches, as well as coffees and teas. There is an upstairs where you can consume your foods while perhaps planning your day of sight seeing. If you prefer to take your food to-go, you can enjoy it in near-by Square St. Louis, a cozy park with plenty of seating and shade- giving trees.

Not a good experience. The staff were so lost, tables were dirty and my pistachio croissant was so dry.

Probablement plus une pâtisserie qu'une boulangerie? Je n'y ai pris qu'une baguette qui était très ordinaire et qui est devenu dure comme de la roche en moins de 8 heures. Idéal pour faire des croûtons. Je me serais laissé tenter par les pâtisseries qui ont l'air bonnes mais quand un chausson aux pommes coûte la modique somme de 5$ il faut vraiment avoir envie.

Made a stop at this bakery of Quartier latin to try out their croissants and they’re pretty good! Also tried their flan, which was also good. Their fougasse (olive bread) is absolutely delicious. Very cute bakery and pleasant staff.

The cheddar croissant and butter croissant was very buttery, flaky, and soft inside. The canele had good texture and was not too sweet. Highly recommend their pastries.

Saw some of their desserts on Instagram and couldn't resist.

Went and bought the "Oh Mon Dieu" which is a chocolatine with double the chocolate as well as a chocolate almond croissant. They were both decent - not much better or worse than many of the chocolate croissants I've had from other bakeries.

Now that's is out of the way. Pistachio Croissant. Get it. Eat it. Love it.

Buttery delicious pastry. We had Bretzels, Tarts and Croissant and it was all excellent. I'm ruined for other bakery's.

For top-notch fresh breads and pastries, look no further. Their wood-fired sourdough breads have a perfectly crisp crust and a tender crumb. The croissants are buttery, light and flaky. The olive fougasse (flatbread with holes) is crisp, salty, savory, oily - all in the right balance. Organic flour used in most of their breads. Kind and helpful staff. Thank you!

Found this lovely pastry cafe while staying in Montreal. Delicious pistachio croissants, almond croissants and chocolate croissants. Walked there everyday to bring back different pastries. A tad pricey but baked fresh daily and very delicious.

There are many wonderful places to visit in this beautiful city. We just adore its energy. One place we ALWAYS make sure to return to though, is Mamie Clafoutis. Their Mon Dieu and Almond Croissants… just stands out among others. Love this spot

De belles viennoiseries et des pains de qualité. Mais aussi quelques desserts, sandwichs etc. Une belle boulangerie artisanale. Une équipe formidable.

Super boulangerie pâtisserie épicerie et petit café! Tout y est bon! Ne pas hésiter à y aller pour prendre la café et y acheter le pain intégral ou les kouign aman etc.bons sandwichs aussin

Leurs augmentations de prix / réductions du volume de pain par unité sont vraiment exagérées. Dommage car le pain est bon mais il y a quand même des limites. Heureusement, plusieurs autres boulangeries offrent aussi d'excellents pains à prix bien plus raisonnable.

Their price increases / reductions of the volume of bread per unit are really excessive. Too bad because their bread is good but there are limits to milking the customers. Thankfully, lots of others bakeries also have great breads at a much more reasonable price.

I came here because of the lovely reviews it recieved. I bought an almond croissant and a latte. The almond croissant was DELICIOUS (very sweet but very good) however the latte was undrinkable. I could hardly taste the espresso and the milk was not frothed at all. It tasted like they just handed me a regular coffee with sour milk.

Definitely go here for the baked goods but maybe get your coffee somewhere else.

Its a small place with fresh baked goods. The staff was very firendlh and spoke English. Got their pistachio chocolate crossaint, butter crossaint and chocolate mousse. Amazingg food!

Tres bonne boulangerie, mais c'est dommage qu'il n'y reste presque jamais de sandwichs vegetariens a l'heure du midi!

En prévoir un plus grand nombre, voire également un plus grand choix, serait une excellente chose. ;)

It is freshly baked on spot and there is seating upstairs which is really cool too, since u can watch them bake downstairs

4,30 $ pour un viennois minuscule alors que premiere moisson le vend au meme prix et fait 4 fois la taille de celui de mamie clafoutis!
Je me souviens qu’auparavant mamie clafoutis etait une référence pour les frenchy qui aime le bon pains et les viennoiseries mais la franchement les prix sont exorbitant pour la qualité (pain au chocolat, ordianaire et sûrement congelé, sandwich ficelle ridiculement petit et pas garni)
Malheureusement comme beaucoup de commerces fleurissant les gestionnaires pensent au profits plutot qu’a la satisfaction client et la qualité s’en ressent

Wow! I split the almond croissant with my girlfriend later in the day, following a day trip to Montreal, and it was buttery, flaky and yet very light, even with an almond filling. When we drove past the bakery there was a heavy line, which seems very understandable given the quality of the croissant we sampled.

Additional visit: On a second visit to Mamie Clafoutis, I opted for the namesake dessert and found it equally exceptional to the croissant I had previously tried. The clafoutis was perfectly textured, lightly sweet and in balance with sour cherries. Although I am not usually a fan of custard based desserts I would highly recommend trying the clafoutis. As a snack, I also opted for a dark chocolate covered orange and it was exceptional.

The layout has been slightly changed to make it more suitable for the pandemic era: one direction flow to allow customers to look at all the baked products on display while waiting to order and on the way to pay at the cashier.

This is the place to go for Crossaints (Almond and pistachio)
I always make sure I pack 5/6 from here whenever I am in MTL.
The bread quality of this place will take you back to France. The coffee and sandwiches are also go to!

The products are great, however the person that served me barely knew the products which made the experience a little bumpy. I can only suggest that for the little pots of mousse to put the price of the actual container in the displayed price instead of having the customer surprised when there's an extra $1.5 on your bill at check out, it comes across as sneaky and dishonest. When the customer asks about the product or price you can explain the return for discount system.

Their bread and pastries are amazing! Personally I think there's much better coffee in the city but if you are going for fresh loaves of bread I highly suggest the olive loaf and their croissants are delicious

Delicious is the only word I can use. My goodness.the almond chocolate croissants are my favourite. Very friendly staff, fresh bread and fresh croissants.

Une belle gamme de très bons pains traditionnels. Et aussi des bons desserts et des bonnes tartes.

Super service, super produits. J'ai pris le fameux clafoutis, spécialité de la maison évidemment) Le jeune homme qui m'a servie était vraiment gentil et accueillant. Très bonne expérience. Je recommande. Il y a toujours la file par contre, soyez patients.

The go-to place for French pastries. Big variety of choices (sweet and salty), and you can eat on the spot upstairs. I always go for a croissant and a Tuna sandwich. Their egg salad sandwich is also worth it. On the days I'm not counting calories, I take the salted caramel cupcake (heaven straight to your mouth).

Excellent quality, the prices a bit higher than what I would consider good, so keep it as a treat, not a new regular spot.

I had the most delicious ham and cheddar cheese sandwich on the flakiest, most buttery croissant ever! "Delicious" does not do it justice! Their desserts were delectable with a lovely variety, so generous in portions that it was hard to choose. I also liked their seating area upstairs. There's access to unlimited drinking water and cosy couches in the seating areas where I observed customers enjoying their pastries while working on their laptops, reading real books and even a grandfather/granddaughter duo playing a board game.and the granddaughter was in her mid-twenties! Lovely! The only drawback.it was very warm up in the seating areas, as heat from the ovens tends to rise to the 2nd level. On a cold, winters day, I'm convinced the warmth is a welcome respite from the frigid winds outside, but I'm hoping they have some sort of aeration/ventilation systems to cool off the 2nd floor seating area in summer. I'd definitely go back!

Wow! Boulangerie sympathique. Le chaï latté (avec option sans caséine possible) est délicieux. Le salon en haut est très agréable et favorise la relaxation et les échanges. La chaleur monte alors il y fait chaud!

While in Montreal last December, my wife and I visited this bakery. The bakings were divine, and staff were very friendly.

Mamie is my always to-go bakery in the Plateau. They never disappointed me as breads are always fresh and soft (depending on the bread of course) so you don't even need to toast them for the first few days.
Strongly recommended.

Boulangerie de qualité. Les tartes aux fruits et la traditionnelle galette des rois (en saison) sont exceptionnelles. Les factures ont tendance à monter vite pour les gourmands de mon espèce.

One of the best bakeries in Montreal and probably even all of Canada! Their breads, muffins, and pies are unforgettably delicious. This is not your average, generic, uninspired bread section at a grocery store, nor is it pretentious or overpriced. This is a French boulangerie that clearly takes pride in the quality of what it makes. It takes a lot of skill and care to do what they do and it pays off — the place is almost always crowded, but they have a ticketing system and the workers are efficient. The only potential inconvenience is that they don’t accept credit cards, it’s debit or cash only.

OMG best bakery in Montreal! They have a tables and sitting areas so you can drink your coffee or eat a croissant or a soup very cute place and for a good price.

Some of the best bread Ive ever had. The staff was great and very informative. They offered some samples as well to try some.of their other products. A must see for anyone visiting in the area
